V8Vega
I got the box out, I have 10 post war whistle tenders and a bunch of others

I have to ask, have you been doing what I've been doing?

For the past several years I've been buying what I call "orphan" tenders at train shows, that is, tenders with no locomotives to go with them.

Then I repaint and decal them for various 'roads. When I want to change 'roads with a post-war I just change the tender.  Sure is cheaper than hunting down and buying a ton of locomotives! Wink

Oh joy!  We got to go to a new local barbecue place last night!  Actually, we'd been there in March before IT happened, and hadn't been able to go back since.

Ate great and gave ourselves a case of the bloats.  It was worth it!  But next time, small portions.

Tonight, chicken pot pies.

Maybe next weekend our favorite Italian place will be fully open.

Happy Sunday and best wishes and birthday greeetings to all concerned!

Sun and 70's today. Kev I agree that after owning boats someone else's is definitly better. Granny Pat is still in the hospital. She seems to be recovering well but they want to make sure the bowel is working properly before they release her. The kids have been keeping me fed.

Morning.  85 and sunny.  Heating up fast.  Will water today.  Mowed and sprayed yesterday.

Fifey, getting old causes aches and pains.

Buckeye, get them running for the Grands.  Also, take them fishing.  Fishing a kid never forgets.

Have a great week ahead.

Mornin' boys.  Slept in today.  Did get to see Mom, but her leg was too swollen to move her around.  I wound up installing her AC instead.  This must have triggered my bum shoulder, cuz it ached all night.

Wifey and I dined out last night, inside a restaurant.  Not just any place either, it was the Candlewyck Inn (downtown Keyser), where we held our wedding reception.  There was actually a wedding rehearsal dinner going on in the premisses, so that was cool.  The food was "ok", and the kitchen was slow, but it was just nice to sit down and chat for awhile, other than our own four walls.

Spent a day on the IL. river with our son Russell and his. Was fun but as the day got longer the idiots got thicker on the water and the temps went higher.  We made it and all in all it was a great day.

The best boat, is someone eles. Laugh

Got up at 8. Been drinking coffee and looking at the news. George Floyd is in NC. Did a walk about out back looking at gardens. Now getting ready to goof off today. May mow again and water as guessed storms never came. Guessed again for this evening. ????

Seems good to not be rushing around with things to do. Did go to Walmart yesterday. Folks are funny . Seems all about themselves.

Don't forget D Day.

Have a good one.

Mornin' boys.  Hazy & 77 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Mom wants us to get her to the farm pond, so that she can feed the fish, one more time.  Will try to make that happen this weekend.

Still busy at the railyard.  All the prepping is ready for this Wednesday.  Turning our attention to the "open-air" passenger car, and I've been spending a lot of time with the needle file Dead.  Dirty, nasty, loud contraption.

SirJames - I hope Granny's home soon.

anjdevil - Looking forward to a visit, I've just got my hands full at the moment.

Buckeye - Nice video of the LionChief.

90 degrees

A little more than I wrote yesterday, I was tired. To get her overies out they had to cut one away from the bowel. Then that meant they had to repair the bowel. So she can't come home till they know the bowel is working.

Okay, 2020 just got stranger.  I stepped away for a few days, and Keller is starting off the Coffee Pot?  It's like waking up in some kind of parallel universe.  One where everyone owns trains, but that they're all lettered for the New York Central.Surprise

Happy Birthday, Chief.  Has your gift from Buckeye arrived yet?

Buckeye, enjoy the Grands.  They will be grown and gone before you know it.

Boy, you can really say that again.

SJ, great news on Granny Pat. Too bad it took so long but things sound good so far! Yes

Dennis, we have your weather. 90s today and I am trying to get the grass done before it hits the 90s, mid 80s now but climbing fast. Cool

I have not seen lava rock in a grill in a long long time!

One hour of cutting down and done around the house and shed. Time out for a bottle of water and some Gunsmoke then up to the east end fields of grass.

Good Evening,

Happy B-DayCake  HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!  CHIEF !!!  Home it is a good one!  Glad to hear the injection went well!

I guess things are quiet here.  The protests seem to have calmed down a little, at least the rioting!  In amongst everything going on we were able to squeeze in an earthquake.  It was 5.5, out in the deseret near Ridgecrest off Hwy 395.  Don't know of any damage, we did feel it here kinda like riding some small waves on a boat.

I've run out of projects, so I decided to sort out old photos.  Boy is there a lot!  It probably is pretty much a waste of time, they will most likely end up just be tossed anyway.  But at least they will be organized.

Kay has been busy with her Mom, situation about the same.  Time will resolve it all, I'm sure.

Glad to hear that Mrs Bank and Mrs SJ are doing well, not the best time to try to get medical stuff done.  It may be that I have been tuned out, with my working on the pictures.  But sure haven't heard alot about the virus and statistics recently.

Very few restaurants are open in LA County, the protests kinda put a damper on all the planned openings.

Its strange not doing much, cant really go anywhere, not knowing what would be open, and with Kay's situation, it is vertually impossible.  So just get some good music playing and going down memory lane.

That's about it from here, so stay safe and be healthy all!

Sun and 87 today

Granny Pat didn't get to come home today. Her 1 hour operation lasted 31/2 hours. The good news is there were no visible signs of cancer. Of course the ovaries  and cyst will go to a lab.

Evening all,

Bad year turning worse by the day.  First the virus, then downtown Indy burns, and now thanks to nobody, the historic first same day same place event of Indycar and NASCAR will be held with no spectators.  Just waiting for the other shoe to drop on the 500.  Saying what I really feel would get me banned from here and social media in general.  This will be my last post for a while, maybe until after August 23rd.  Happy birthday to the Chief as I might as well end on a positive note.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Happy Birthday Chief! Cake Your gift is in the mail.

My LionChief plus after being stored for almost two years, headed out and smoked up the room.

Chief for your birthday go to 7:30 for outstanding NS train footage in the video below. I grew up in NE Indiana and there were three major railroads that crossed near us. The B&O, Wabash and the NYC. Waterloo, IN was on the NYC main line and they roared through are county at high speeds. As a kid I saw many special trains running from the east to Chicago.

Evening folks!

A good summer day. High 80's.

Working in a repaint of the porch. Did not take care of this after the rebuild a few years ago. Figuring out colors is always fun.

Was very hot and windy yesterday. Good thing, I, at last got into the last two wet holes and got the grass cut. This morning, thunderstorms are rolling through the North Bluff and all is wet again. Lightning Storm

Dennis, it was my TV guy who told me the best TVs out there are the Samsungs.

Checked on line for a hair cut and the wait has been over 3 hours every time I have looked. Guess it will take another month for the lines to shrink. Bang Head

SJ, Speaking of fingers,,,where is 88?  Smile, Wink & Grin

Banks, I am starting to see these monster square bales being made around here now. Have you ever seen them? Man they are big. Surprise

My uncle gave me two very nice Marx elect switches with controler and a Marx un-coupler track and controler, as well as a transformer and some like new track. I had never seen one of them un-couplers? Kind of neat.

Best get to something?

Morning.  90 and sunny.  Humidity coming back.  Walked around [looking at her flowers] and sat with Wifey drinking coffee.  Now she is off to feed a trailer park with hot lunches.

I delivered 220 produce boxes yesterday.  Was a surprise call.  Had three helpers thank God.  Then CPA appointment.  Why I didn't get to post yesterday.  Was a rush day.

Peaceful protests since curfew.

Back injections this afternoon.

Had a Mikes Trash House switch quit working.  Had to take it out of the layout.  Fixed poor engineering with Super Glue.

Have a good one.

Hello there,

Seems like summer might be here. Sunday's high was 60 with a stiff breeze.

A larger than expected turnout at the hill climb. Riders were off a little at 78 and 153 entries. Most ride more than one bike. Gate was up considerably, over 400. Social distancing for the most part. Small groups scattered over the 2 ballfields that are the spectator area.

Spent Monday making hay. It was a beautiful day sunny, breezy low 70s. Son and I made 45 round bales of nice 1st cutting, all of them sold already.
Spent yesterday putzing around, made a run to the water store and some other errands.

Now sitting in parking lot while Mrs has her 1st appointment with rheumatologist, only patients allowed in. Hoping she can get some relief.

Best move on.

Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic.

Good evening all,

Voted today.  Moved some small cedar trees from the trunks of larger trees to gaps in my west wall of trees.  Hope they make it.  Hard to kill them though.  Should have done more today, but found out I have to stay home the rest of the week due to the riots in downtown Indy.  Maybe now I will get a laptop so I can work from home.  Mad because I have to burn 3 vacation days for nothing.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

It's 88 degrees at 5PM.

My next door neighbor sawed off half of one finger and part of the next one. Who does that remind you of?
