Hey, Good Morning!!

Happy Anniversary 88 and the Q!!!

Been in Saratoga Springs, NY since Sunday night, training a new guy.

I took a short drive to Adirondack Toy & Hobby (and Pools!) and picked up an N scale farmhouse for Jenni, 2 tin plate Lionel caboose (that need some love) a 12" tree and a 60s gondola.  I'll be leaving tomorrow and making a couple of stops to visit 2 shops in my team and then off to Mohawk Valley Railrod to spent somemore of the Rich and Jenni fortune.  Then home.

Weather has been good and warm.

Mom is recovering nicely, my SIL is watching over her. Mom's BP is good and her low sodium level is approaching normal.  She has appitite and is walking better....the CHF will not stop her, lol!!  Will check in next week, hopefully, I have a full weekend already.....

85 and sunny. Maybe a slight chance of a shower. All north. Then chance it will come back tomorrow while I'm feeding. Got County Vet and a pet food person following me. Offering free rabbis and pet food. Hope it holds off.

Spent a little time this morning filling black oil feeder and suit block feeder [man, those woodpeckers are emptying it about every three days. Wifey says some are juveniles]. Then found a fire ant mound. Low but really wide in edge of Wifey's path to raised beds. They are not happy now.

Long time on "fixing" County problem with media. One Co. Commissioner and a School Board member. On feeding. Constantly stirring. Can't get their way.

Cardiologist visit this afternoon. Yearly visit. MOW grass when I get home.

Have a good one.

Happy anniversary Brent.

Sun and Hi 80's today.

Yesterday was my birthday so Yep I got White Castles and Dos XXXs. I think the W/Cs are still digesting. The veggies are growing but the late planting will also mean a late harvest. We only plant enough to eat and if too much at once we have good neighbors for sharing.

88 - Happy Anniversary to you and the Q.

I was working security detail at the re-wheeling, so I wasn't up in the action.  That was all Hulcher + Diversified Rail Services.  DRS is slated to continue work on 1309, while WMSR will be shutting down things awhile.

Evening folks!

Missed a day. Weather has been pleasant. Warm.

With the virus mess, son's present college has been delinquent on getting his transcript to UTD, which has his fall registration on hold until they get it. He is irritated and I have to agree.

Pool filter patch still holding up Yeah

Dennis - great deal on the remote!

88 - also great deal on avoiding the shipping!

Buckeye - the video won't play for me?

DonB - good luck with all the tests!

Chief - wow, nice on the BP and weight!

Regards, Roy

County Commissioners want to go to mask requirement. Some Mayors are OK and a lot are no. Mainly the biggest business wise except Raleigh who going to do one on their own. Rolesville Mayor, will no comment. No back bone and whatever the rest say.

Dr. visit. Lost 10 lbs. and PB 106 over 68. Temp 98.1 [which is normal for me].

Picked two tomatoes, some hot peppers and lots of banana peppers. All growing like crazy. Got one squash about ready. Lots of blooms on squash, zucchini and cucumbers. All planted late this year.

Now run some errands.

Evenin' Fellas

Slow day today so TheQ sent me to Pier 1 to see about some outdoor patio furniture since ordering online resulted in $169 shipping charge (more than half the cost of the items)... The nice lady at the store told me that today was the last day they were allowed to order ship-to-store, so saved $169 by driving 20 minutes there and 20 minutes back. Stopped at WallyWorld to get some odds and ends for tomorrow's dinner and some stuff for the kids and the sitter on Friday.

Fife - did you get to witness the rewheeling?

Wonder if York will happen in October...

Evening All,

Brent, Happy Anniversary!

Doug, Now that is some kinda of food processor!  Cool!

Nothing much happening here, except me and the pictures.  Been sorting them for 2 weeks now.  Litterally hundreds, from 1944 forward, currently I am up to 1989.  Trying to make it easier for someone else to understand who and what they are looking at.  Most likely I will probably be the last person who views them.  Not complaining it just the way things work out.  I remember as a kid my uncle would set up a slide projector and we would watch for hours all the slides.  But that just doesn't happen anymore.

Got a busy week coming up, going to VA for a Covid test in the morning.  The test is because of Colonoscopy scheduled for Thursday, due to family history with Colon Cancer.  Then Wednesday have to make a trip for special shoes, (free).  The VA provides them because of Diabetes (Agent Orange), and are modified to acommodate the leg issue from the train issue.  Could be LOTS worse, at least Im being taken care of!  Then a week from Friday, another eye injection.  Getting older is just so much fun.  Wouldn't have time for all this stuff if I was younger.

Probably posted more than I should've, but fingers just kept going.

Take care ALL and be safe!

Happy anniversary lion88roar!

Spanky, we're opening back up s-l-o-w-l-y here in Viginia.  Restaurants can open for seating if distancing is practised, and thank goodness, we've been able to get back into our favorite Italian place and our new favorite barbecue joint.

You have to wear masks in stores, and when going into restaurants, but while you're eating the maks can come off.  Thank goodness.  How do you suck veal parmagiana through a straw?

Hopefully things will open up more as the Fourth of July approaches.

Saw an article in the paper this AM that people with Type O blood have a good resistance to COVID-19.  I'm O-positive, so's the wife.  That's a relief.

Morning folks!

Gonna be pretty warm as temps level around 95, but hoomidity going up! Although it looks pretty flat here, DFW was built around the Trinity River and thus the entire area is a low spot - thus hoomidity sinks in...

Pool filter Flex Shot and overlaying Flextape repair held up for 5 hrs of test under pressure (20 psi) yesterday, and then sat all night with no leaks. If it holds til the new part shows up I will be happy.

Banks - if you are referring to the diodes across each relay coil, they are there to make sure the magnetic field in the coil collapses when primary DC power to the coil is removed.

Mornin' Fellas

Been a while, I know. Lots going on and lost track of time.

Not a whole lot going on other than I watched the rewheeling of 1309! That was awesome.

One of the guys TheQ teaches at a local college with has a daughter, she stopped by on Saturday to watch the kids for us so we could run some ehrands. Very nice young lady and the kids loved her, so she is coming back this Friday so TheQ and I can go out for our 14 year anniversary (actually Wednesday).

Another great day on The North Bluff above Marseilles! Could use a little Storm but I can wait.

Thanks Banks, Don't know how much use I will get out of that splitter at my age (less every year now) but the price was right!

My BP monitor died so I had to get a new one today at Walmart. Not much else to report. Zzz

Dennis, glad you got out to Church.

Hello there,

Kev.....good deal with the splitter.

spent most of the week doing yard and garden work. Sat up 3 old bathtubs as a makeshift raised garden for Mrs. Did some mowing and general cleanup.

We got the 2nd dose of SHINGRIX on Wednesday, felt about half wupped, Thursday and Friday.

Spent most of yesterday doing overdue PM on skid steer and hauling sh!t.

Today was a lazy day. Mrs stuffed a beef heart, yummy. Pulled pork and fixings this evening at daughters.

Roy or any electronics guru.......Starting to finalize plans for the upcoming layout..thinking about using circuit #1 from here.

http://www.circuitous.ca/OriginalToggle.html

. It's been 45 years since I've had electronics theroy. I know there's going to be a surge to charge the capacitors but I'm having a brain fart factoring the diode into the continuous current. I'm also planning to use a 3pdt switch with the extra pole controlling frog polarity. Any words of advice?

Best head to bed.

Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic.

Afternoon folks!

Mid 90's today and temps for foreseeable future running 5 degrees above normal - what ever normal is for these parts....

Pool filter developed a leak in the bottom case - plugging it with flexseal and hope it lasts until the replacement comes in. Normally flexseal would be fine but the bottom is a bowl shape and the hairline crack is in a crevice. Spent all yesterday afternoon and this morning nursing the curing rubber caulk. PITA...

SJ - great news re Mrs SJ! Prayers for her continued recovery.

Fife and Anj - prayers for your moms!

Fife - thanks for the link - will provide me some evening entertainment while the Mrs watches her shows!

Kev - good deal on the carb fix!

V8Vega

24 hours since Fifedog yesterday.

Sun 83/55 Mon. 87/56 Tue. 85/57

My TV is back and working well. I was without a TV 1 day short of 2 weeks. I had really fried it by leaving it on all day everyday for 5 years and the repair man wanted a additional $50 so It cost $385. It would cost $550 or $600 for a equivalant new one with California tax so if it lasts 3 years I figure it will be worth it. But if I had known it would cost this much I probably would have got a new one. What would you have done?

Remember Fundimensions Woodside Reefers? I had some out on shelves and I found a box with 5 more and I have 14 of them in a group on shelves.

I also found a box in storage of like new fundimensions and Industrial Rail tank cars.

My wife turns the TV on when she gets up and it stays on till she goes to bed. If we go out of town it's on 24 hours day. as of yet ( knocking on wood ) we have not had a problem. We have 2 LG's at present, one is about 7 years old the other is about 2 years old. I have a Westinghouse which was our first flat-screen TV I got Dec 2008 and it was on all day and has since become my computer monitor about 6 years ago and it is on even longer as I normally get up before her. So leaving it on all day, I question if that is the problem, now with the old plasma TV yes, I would agree. as the plasma would wear out, and no you can't get new plasma put in it, as some box appliance stores tried to push, saying you could.

I've got a bit of sad news.

I found out yesterday, quite by accident, that a great friend of the hobby passed away back in April.

His name was Al Seebach Jr., and he was the owner of the "Old And Weary Car Shop," a fun train store in Tappan NY.  A wonderful place to visit, especially if you were a fan of the old New York, Ontario & Western Railroad.

Since I live in Virginia I was lucky if I was able to visit Al's shop once, maybe twice a year, but it was always a highlight to my trips up north.  I can't say I knew Al very well, but he was always very welcoming to anyone who came in the shop and couldn't do enough for you while you were there, either to help with a product or a question, or just to shoot the breeze about trains.  A true gentleman of the old school.  I don't know what the future of the shop's going to be but if it goes I and so many others will miss it quite a bit.

Here's a five-star Yelp review I wrote about the place in July of 2015.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/old-and-weary-car-shop-tappan

Rest in peace Al!  If what I've seen on-line is any indication you will be sorely missed!
