Hello there from Fenwick Island Delaware.

Condolences to Jack. RT thanks for posting.

Had an interesting trip yesterday. About 2 hours away when the tranny died in my Tahoe, the one Ammco rebuilt the 1st week of January. It had a short test drive and has been in the garage since.

AAA said 1.5 hours but probably. 5 hours. 3 hours later the truck showed, he'd been sent 20 miles the wrong way through the Bay bridge traffic.

Meanwhile I located an Ammco about 40 miles from our destination and talked with the owner and sat up warranty repair. I wasn't as successfull renting a car. Most were closed for the weekend due to covid. I found 2 within a reasonable distance but neither had a car to rent.

AAA was no help at all. Their customer service will hear from me. So we are at Ammco, did I mention it's been an off and on thunderstorm during all this. We've brought most of our food for the week to avoid shopping so we need to keep it cold. The Tahoe still has 1st and 2nd gear so I headed on about 35 miles an hour. So got here about 8PM took almost 2 hours to travel 35 miles.

Spent a lazy day reading and napping.

Tomorrow morning I have to limp back to Ammco and hopefully rent a car at the nearby Enterprise.

Time for a nap

Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic.

Evening folks and hope all had a nice Fathers Day!

I spent the day - after blueberry muffins (tip of the hat to Chuck) - painting the back porch - well half of it - and hoping Talledega would run - oh well. I guess it is tomorrow. I did not see an announcement.

Then we grilled steaks and sat on the back porch enjoying the evening with friends.

Banks - good luck with the tranny re-repairs! Glad you guys got to your destination!

DonB - nope. No word from the college re the transcript Grumpy

Chief - weird symptoms- hope you get to the doc tomorrow?

Regards, Roy

With having heard what's happening with R.I. Jack made me think of our own Horn Blower John from Iowa. Anybody heard from him of late ? I think the last time we chatted was when he and his wife were here in Sandy Eggo and they visited the museum. Lord that has been a long while back.

Evening,

Had a WONDERFUL Fathers Day!  Chris came over, Kay brought MIL over, BIL/SIL came by.  We had a really nice visit, then tremendous dinner.  And topped it off with a digital slide show on trips made to Hawaii, Tahoe, and a Sierra camping/fishing trip.

Tried tapping the dega race, but found out it is rescheduled for 12pm pacific time, on FS1, so resetting accordingly.  Going to return a couple of cable boxes to Spectrum, and install the hd Magic Stick TV antenna on both.  It will give me Nascar and Grit TV in the train room.  Cheaper and more capability.  So makes me a happy camper.

Doug, I stopped in and saw Jon in Iowa on my trip, he was doing great at that time.  I'll send him another invite to come back to the Pot, but he was having problems with connection.

Chief, let us know what the Dr says!

Take care all !!

Mornin' boys.  Waiting for the sun to burn through the fog this AM.  Got up plenty early, as always.  Will have to DVR rescheduled Dega race, as we're getting the oldest grandson today.

Had a peaceful Father's Day.  Girls went shopping.  Did some yard work.  The kids ordered me 1) MTH water column, 2) Railking WM 19th century gon, 3) 2-pack of D56 Seasons Bay figurines.  Better than a tie.

Looks like MLB players are negotiating themselves out of 2020...  Buh-bye!

Haven't watched NFL since Sept '17.  Don't think I'll start now...   Buh-bye!

A belated Happy Father's Day to all youse guys.....

Was a different Father's Day, Mom was not feeling up to seeing Dad so we all stayed here and had lunch.

I replaced all the flags on the shed, the USMC, ARMY and USN flags were all tattered, so I replaced the USMC flag.  Since I'm staying here, I replaced the ARMY flag with a Fire Dept. Flag.  I raised the USN flag yesterday about 3 PM in honor of Dad.  Jenni took me out for Father's Day we had steak at the local tavern and my Princess is going to take me out this afternoon, as she had to work yesterday.
Went food shopping and was done very late like MIDNIGHT home at 1 took Jenni home to help unload her car then back to Mom's.

So to back track a bit, got home Friday night about 7 and dinner and a visit from Jenni.  Mom is better but not 100%.  Meds are kicking her a$$, but I think this will improve with time.

Saturday I did the lawn and it did rain so I was damp, but the lawn is done and in time for Father's Day.

I sent a message to Jack yesterday.  Yes, this was very sudden.  RT Thanks for posting it.  Jack is a stand up guy in my book and I was friends with Pam on the book of face.  Very cool people and it is a shock.  He did say yesterday would have been their 32nd wedding anniversary.  So it makes it doubly sad.

Real quick on the ride home Friday (I was in Saratoga Springs, NY to train a newbie), I went to Mohawk Valley Trains and picked up a few things.  Very nice place, a white gray and gold eyed cat greeted me at the door.  There were 2 white cats, very lovable and happy.  Made the visit much more enjoyable.

Work is crazy, problems all morning and work is running rampant, so I'll check back later.

Afternoon.  Can't drive.  Benadryl.  [Wifey driving for me]  Typing not much better.  UTI but suddenly for three days, itching and whelps.  Saw Dr. this AM.  Strong meds.  Since I have been drinking a lot of water for 4 weeks now, got that part covered.  Bad to get old.

101 on the weather station outside [in sun now].  In the sun, 46% humidity [so worse in the shade].  Yes, very sunny.

A lot of phone talking on food security [drama] and other County things since I got home.

Trying to rest and do TV [will sleep I'm sure].

Have a good one.

Mornin' boys.  Damp and 67 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Picked up the grandson in Fredrock yesterday afternoon.  We got there early, and enjoyed a great steak dinner at Texas Roadhouse.  Then we went to Michael's, where I found nothing that I could use this time...  Had to drive through periodic storms to get home.  The good thing about having the grandson here, is that Grandmom will cook breakfast every morning.

dbaker - OUCH!  Man, you drove that Chevy some 7000 miles last year, coast-to-coast, without a mishap.  Then a tree jumps out in front of you, close to home...  They say, most accidents occur within a mile of your home.  So I moved.

Chief - Get to feeling better soon, ok?

anjdevil - Continued Angel.

Banks - AAA is a joke.  In 3 decades of working a squad car, never seen them in a hurry to help any of their subscribers.

Morning.  Partly cloudy and 82.  Possible of rain this evening.  Will stake tomato baskets as getting top heavy.  Might blow over.

Don, like I said, tree is in street rights of way.  Between curb and sidewalk.   No set back.

Slept good.  All OK so far.  Med working.

Have a good one.

Good Morning

Yes, yesterday was challenging, 3 returning techs and a bushel full of IT issues, I finally got through Monday.  And I have another tech coming back on Monday the 29th.

Today I have to set up a shop visit in Allentown, PA and make a visit up there as well as checking in to see 2 of my other team members.  Slowly, I'll get to see all my guys, the Ohio guys are going to be a bit of a challenge.  I have 3 guys near Harrisburg but that will be a minor hurdle.

After work, my Princess took me to Texas Roadhouse for some al fresco steak dining for Father's Day.  It was a great time with her, talking and dining like we used to.  A nice card from her and I was happy. :)

I brought the Marx M-10000 home to get the headlight to work, so that will be after I do some errands for Mom.  The owner is getting antsy for her train and I will make a stop at my house to check for track and a couple of transformers......

Just finished my coffee, Black Cherry yogurt and 2 small croissants, so I'm set until lunch.

Sun is blazin already, had a couple of tech issues while typing this and got that solved.  Going to 90 today.

Almost afternoon fellas

Been busy again... TheQ saw a 'waterfall faucet' while browsing one of the many emails she gets covering homes for-sale in our area (she looks at homes to see what other owners in our price point are doing) and decided she wanted one in the first floor powder room (we have decided to finish the basement powder room, so making some upgrades in the first floor one) well I got it installed last night in an hour and no leaks! Now to install the floor in the basement powder room and then hang the baseboards. Once that is done, I'll remove the toilet from 1st floor and move it to the basement, and then install the new toilet in the 1st floor PR. Then when the new vanity arrives for the basement I will get that and the mirror installed, then we have to decide on a light fixture... lol

Fife - you were in our next of the woods. Smile

Morning all !
Yesterday late afternoon turned out fun. The BetterHalf had to take me down to the ER. Blood pressure and heart rate went way to high for me when you consider all the BP meds I take. BP was running 130~135 over 115~120 with a rate of 112+/- , but the real kicker was the irregular heart beat that my bp monitor indicated. Well after several hours and several tests later they found nothing wrong so I came home. The worst part of the whole thing was the BetterHalf had to wait in the car out in the parking lot the whole time we were there.
Checked in on the museum camera, they were in the process of shooting a promo video for the reopening promotion. Don't want to sound pessimistic but our location in the building is not very compatible with health dept. guidelines.

Gotta run, late breakfast time.

Later gator.

Banks - AAA is a joke.  In 3 decades of working a squad car, never seen them in a hurry to help any of their subscribers.

I don't know, every time I've had a breakdown (last was a year ago) I've called AAA, gotten an agent immediately, was told a tow truck would be there in 45 minutes, the agent would call me back to inform me the truck was en route, and sure enough in 20 minutes or so the tow truck arrived.

No, I don't work for AAA.  And if I'd gotten lousy service I'd have dropped 'em a long time ago.  Maybe I'm in the right part of the country?

Evening folks!

Lotta rain last couple of days, hoomid!

Also spent last two days painting the back porch. Lotta angles, rough surfaces, so pretty tedious. Will take another day to complete. Not much else to report tonight.

DonB - oh the humanity!

Take care all!

Evening,

Well getting through today, spent the afternoon checking out body shops.  Most of them don't want anything to do with such an old car.  One place wanted $2500 non refundable "tear down" fee, and guestimated repair north of $20k.  Then I thought about a classic car parts facility in Seal Beach.  Roy is also familiar with them, I thought since they sell repro El Camino parts, they may know of a local facility.  Sure enough!  Gave me a referral to a place 8 miles from me.  I visited their facility, a family owned business, with an extensive shop.  He had many classic cars in the facility in various stages of restoration.  Looking at just pictures he thought $10k was probably resonable.  And when I asked about worse case "tear down" fee, he indicated $200.  And of course if the work is down $0.  So its worth it to me to see what it would cost.  I'm going to get it drug down there tomorrow.  I don't have Collision Ins, on it, haven't for over 15 years anyway.  The premium was too much.  Even by me paying for the repair, I'm still ahead.  Worst case I could get another one for $10-12, probably wouldn't though.  So we will just have to see.

I'm doing fine, a bump on the forehead, and banged up hand, but that's it.  There was a divit out of my head, Kay and I looked inside the car, and she found some skin on the rear view mirror.  When I hit the mirror I broke the glass in it, and it broke the windshield.  She found a piece of skin in the mirror.  NO, we didn't try to put it back in.  So all in all, I was pretty lucky!

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & humid along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  I think the grandson wants to work on the layout.  Yesterday, I had him spraypaint the HO buildings I received, in hopes of kitbashing them into a stockyard scene.

Dougnotta - Glad you're ok.  And I went through the parking lot nonsense, when my mother was hospitalized last month.

88 - I had thought of calling you, but the Wifey was taking too long to hit the road,  and the storms were a challenge.  I do want to visit in the near future.

Hot and humid as usual.  Errands and mow.

Don, I'd be "talking" to Cerritos about trees to close to the street.

Wasn't Jack the guy who had all the Dovermans?  Great guy.  Sorry about his Wife.

Confederate Monuments: Well my "adopted" black Daughter and I finally had a long conversation [besides texting] on Monday AM. She lives on the other side of the County and we are not in meetings together right now. Seems ours were erected during the Jim Crow era. Mainly to tell blacks, whites are in charge and you are worthless. Dedication speeches [in NC Archives and History] are full of the "N" word [not negro]. Take them down. Has nothing to do with our fallen Confederate soldiers. Until then, those had been placed in cemeteries. "Splain it to me Lucy" as Ricky use to say. Finally the biggie TV station had a Duke professor on the news this AM explaining this. My questions is, why was this not brought out two years ago when the Gov recommended we move them? Could have saved a lot of grief. OH, they finally got a crane big enough to move the biggest one. 75 ft. tall of solid granite. [attempts to lift it kept breaking the cranes]

Now on other monuments around the USA, ???

Have a god one.

Quick check in -----

Mom is not feeling well, not sure the next step, her BP has been good and I've been making sure she eats.  Doc visit Monday, I may not have her wait that long, depending on how she is today - still asleep, so that's good.

Was muggy and humid yesterday and this morning, breezy and less humid, thank god - my fan died last night and the ceiling fan does try but it ain't the same.  And Mom gets cold with the AC on ----

Jenni stopped by with dinner, a Chicken Cacciatore.  I'm not much on sauce, I ate it, as it was dinner.......she left late as I was doing laundry and stuff we sat and talked and watched some TV.  Good time together.

Still trying to set up shop visits this week, so we shall see what happens.....Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton/Stroudsberg.  Gonna be a LONG day.....whenever it happens.

Waiting on 1 part to show up to finish the M10000 I found on Amazon, so I don't have to make something, it'll be here tomorrow, I got the track for Jenni's friend and I can deliver the trains to her this weekend.

Dougnotta- stay healthy!!  Glad you had a good outcome.

DonB - glad you are ok - sorry about the Elko......

Back to work
