Evening All,
Brent, Happy Anniversary!
Doug, Now that is some kinda of food processor! Cool!
Nothing much happening here, except me and the pictures. Been sorting them for 2 weeks now. Litterally hundreds, from 1944 forward, currently I am up to 1989. Trying to make it easier for someone else to understand who and what they are looking at. Most likely I will probably be the last person who views them. Not complaining it just the way things work out. I remember as a kid my uncle would set up a slide projector and we would watch for hours all the slides. But that just doesn't happen anymore.
Got a busy week coming up, going to VA for a Covid test in the morning. The test is because of Colonoscopy scheduled for Thursday, due to family history with Colon Cancer. Then Wednesday have to make a trip for special shoes, (free). The VA provides them because of Diabetes (Agent Orange), and are modified to acommodate the leg issue from the train issue. Could be LOTS worse, at least Im being taken care of! Then a week from Friday, another eye injection. Getting older is just so much fun. Wouldn't have time for all this stuff if I was younger.
Probably posted more than I should've, but fingers just kept going.
Take care ALL and be safe!
Don
Best wishes to you Mr. Baker!
Morning. 61 and raining. Don't feel good today. Chilled. Will take a Tylenol and rest.
Glad VA is taking care of you, Don.
Later.

Evenin' FellasSlow day today so TheQ sent me to Pier 1 to see about some outdoor patio furniture since ordering online resulted in $169 shipping charge (more than half the cost of the items)... The nice lady at the store told me that today was the last day they were allowed to order ship-to-store, so saved $169 by driving 20 minutes there and 20 minutes back. Stopped at WallyWorld to get some odds and ends for tomorrow's dinner and some stuff for the kids and the sitter on Friday.Fife - did you get to witness the rewheeling?Wonder if York will happen in October...

County Commissioners want to go to mask requirement. Some Mayors are OK and a lot are no. Mainly the biggest business wise except Raleigh who going to do one on their own. Rolesville Mayor, will no comment. No back bone and whatever the rest say. Dr. visit. Lost 10 lbs. and PB 106 over 68. Temp 98.1 [which is normal for me]. Picked two tomatoes, some hot peppers and lots of banana peppers. All growing like crazy. Got one squash about ready. Lots of blooms on squash, zucchini and cucumbers. All planted late this year. Evening folks!
Missed a day. Weather has been pleasant. Warm.
With the virus mess, son's present college has been delinquent on getting his transcript to UTD, which has his fall registration on hold until they get it. He is irritated and I have to agree.
Pool filter patch still holding up
Dennis - great deal on the remote!
88 - also great deal on avoiding the shipping!
Buckeye - the video won't play for me?
DonB - good luck with all the tests!
Chief - wow, nice on the BP and weight!
Regards, Roy
88 - Happy Anniversary to you and the Q.
I was working security detail at the re-wheeling, so I wasn't up in the action. That was all Hulcher + Diversified Rail Services. DRS is slated to continue work on 1309, while WMSR will be shutting down things awhile.
Happy anniversary Brent.
Sun and Hi 80's today.
Yesterday was my birthday so Yep I got White Castles and Dos XXXs. I think the W/Cs are still digesting. The veggies are growing but the late planting will also mean a late harvest. We only plant enough to eat and if too much at once we have good neighbors for sharing.

85 and sunny. Maybe a slight chance of a shower. All north. Then chance it will come back tomorrow while I'm feeding. Got County Vet and a pet food person following me. Offering free rabbis and pet food. Hope it holds off. Spent a little time this morning filling black oil feeder and suit block feeder [man, those woodpeckers are emptying it about every three days. Wifey says some are juveniles]. Then found a fire ant mound. Low but really wide in edge of Wifey's path to raised beds. They are not happy now. Long time on "fixing" County problem with media. One Co. Commissioner and a School Board member. On feeding. Constantly stirring. Can't get their way. Cardiologist visit this afternoon. Yearly visit. MOW grass when I get home. Have a good one.
Hey, Good Morning!!
Happy Anniversary 88 and the Q!!!
Been in Saratoga Springs, NY since Sunday night, training a new guy.
I took a short drive to Adirondack Toy & Hobby (and Pools!) and picked up an N scale farmhouse for Jenni, 2 tin plate Lionel caboose (that need some love) a 12" tree and a 60s gondola. I'll be leaving tomorrow and making a couple of stops to visit 2 shops in my team and then off to Mohawk Valley Railrod to spent somemore of the Rich and Jenni fortune. Then home.
Weather has been good and warm.
Mom is recovering nicely, my SIL is watching over her. Mom's BP is good and her low sodium level is approaching normal. She has appitite and is walking better....the CHF will not stop her, lol!! Will check in next week, hopefully, I have a full weekend already.....

Hot at 90 but low humidity @ 32% but that will be changing over the next few days. AC is on iin the shed so I can do some work on a few things in there.
Gave blood today ay noon, Dr wanted me to, so it can help lower my Iron count. I see the Red Cross is doing Covid-19 antibody testing on all donated blood. I should know if I already had it in 7 to 10 days. Good deal. I guess they started that on the 15th this month. Just one more good reason to bleed out.
Good news on your mom anj.
Also a Happy Anniversary to the Q and Brent!!!

Hey guys,
Just a quick note, still working on photos. Upto 1992, (Volumes!) Got a lot more to go, and haven't even touched digital stuff, or videos, UGH!
Roy, Did your son get his transcript yet? That REALLY stinks for such a delay, and being so important as it is!
All my med tests went well, so far anyway. When they finished with the Colonoscopy, I asked them to make sure they turned the light off in there. Hope they did.
Fife and Buckeye, I have to honestly say I don't miss the railroad, the fun parts were great, but the behind the scenes was a nuscience at times.
Time for dinner so stay safe all!
Don....Currently I am only a host for the tours. Learning more about the collection, but the boss has told me he wants me to add more technical aspects to the tour in lieu of just history. I've signed on for one day a week. I want to start with coal, water and air to introduce the patrons to the operation of a steam locomotive. I find that the majority of the visitors do not understand many of the pieces and parts. On Thursday, one of the young full time employees led her first tour. She did a great tour. Afterwards, I asked her why she did not explain the operation of the flu-flu valve. Of course I received the stare, then I laughed.
Any suggestions as to the pieces and parts that you believe are the most interesting?
Mornin' boys. Cloudy and 68 along the Potomac Highlands. Just chillin' out on my first day of summer "vacation"... Wifey wants to do a little shopping later on.
Buckeye - Is the 19 on display?
Morning. 70 and cloudy. Maybe a shower. Off to bar-b-q and fried chicken restaurant. Doing Fathers' Day with Kids and Grands today. Not as crowded. Normally we don't do restaurants since virus. Have a good one.
Things are slow and steady here on The North Bluff above Marseilles. Just HOT and dry.
Buckeye,
One compontent located in the cab is the "McCoy Lubricator", it automatically oils the side rods, and has a very interesting history. It provides a drip down to the side rod that is generated by steam heating up oil floating on a small water resevoir. The valve was invinted in 1872 by Elijah McCoy (a black man), it revoluntionized the operation of a steam engine. After introduction numerous reproductions were manufactured but none worked as well. And ultimately Elijah's was protected by a patented. When lesser units were tried in order to save expense, they were rejected by the crews. Everyone wanted "The Real McCoy", hence the saying. Suggest you do a search on Elijah McCoy, and wikepedia. There is information on specific operation and more details. I told many, many railfans about it and they all walked away very pleased. Probably because of the saying. (When I wake up more, I will see if I can think of some more ideas.) The lubricator always amased me, it would realese a drop of oil every 10-15 seconds, and we could adjust that with the control of the steam going to the unit. Fond memory.
Don...I've heard that story and that is great one to tell the visitors. I'll use that after I find it on one of the locomotives.
Fife...The 19 is sorta on display. It is in the backshop and unless they are doing something that prohibits the tours going in there, we are in there. The guides always introduce the 19 as one of our movie stars. On Thursday they were using the overhead crane to move parts and pieces. I post a photo of the restoration after next Thursday.
BTW fife, do you know about the B&O 0-6-0 No. 1190? It is the only B&O switcher that was preserved. The B&O museum has only road steam engines. It is in the roundhouse and the cab is still outside. It will undergo a cosmetic restoration.
For those who remember Road Island Jack ( Jack Scheid). I just saw on FB his wife has passed

Happy Father's Day, boys. A cloudy, muggy, 66 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Got some yardwork to do later on, then watch Dega race. The Fifelings are ordering items for the layout.
for Rock Island 52.
We went to visit my folks yesterday, and the Middle Princess drove. Had a nice visit with Mom, which lets Dad get out for a few hours. I did a little fishing as well, and caught a half dozen or so "pan" fish. My aunt had visited Mom the day before, and left a small storage box labelled "Trains" for me. It was all old TYCO... Oh well. We tried to eat at a local restaurant's outside patio area, but we watched as the rainclouds came over the mountain tops, through the Potomac Valley, and eventually chased us indoors.
Buckeye - If you can trap a little discarded piece of 19, I'd love to have it for the train room. We had all these torched off staybolts off 1309, we could have handed them out to the kids... And we still have the original cab that the GM can't decide what to do with. I'd like to see it go to Clifton Forge.
HAPPY FATHERS DAY
Sun and 88 today w/chance of passing showers. We had steaks from the grill at daughters house yesterday. Today will be at #1 son's house for more burnt offerings.
Happy Father's day guys.
Nice out today, will be 82 and what little rain there was is already heading east of here.
Sad news on Road Island Jack's wife. I know she loved their dogs and the showing them. Prayers for Jack and his family.
Going to slip away to do some cabin building up North for a while. Going to be nice and in the 70s. Wife and kids are staying behind to hold down the fort. Will be nice to do a guy thing week.
Be good.
