Mornin' boys.  Cloudy and 30 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Snohizo staying in Virginia and Nawth Carolina.  Enjoy.

Worked on adding ground foam to Romney and Twin Mountain sections yesterday.  Still drying, so I have to wait to put track and buildings back on layout.

Went to local NRHS meeting last night. Zzz

On the Nascar front, GREAT to see Newman walk out of hospital, smiling and holding his little girls' hands.  Monday night, from my viewpoint, he was a goner.

Thank you everyone for the 69th Birthday wishes!

Roy's math skills seem to have fallen on hard times.

The work on the layout continues. Decided to use an octogon shape instead of sawing an arc.

Preliminary track placement in order to make the cuts in the OSB.

Morning Guys,
Well I think I have turned the corner on this crap, fever is down at least and headache is better. Still feel like a mule has kicked my chest and hacking and coughing my a$$ off. .
Looks like it is wifey's turn now! Like she has not had enough already the last year! So a few more days of staying in and soup.
Buckeye, 69,,,,,,,,,,hummmmm. Smile, Wink & Grin   Your layout looks great but I don’t know about those sharp corners on the octagon and running into them at your age? Maybe just trim off the points.
Fife, I agree on how good it was to see Ryan get out of the hospital so soon. Yes I to thought he was done after I saw that crash.
Prayers for all others in need!

Morning folks!

Cloudy, low 40's, freeze tonight...rained most of last night...now winds are howling.

DJ - so glad you checked in! Catching up? What to say...Chief and Buckeye up to their old tricks!

Fife and Kev - I felt the same way after Newmans crash. Hit in the drivers side while upside down at 190 mph? Blown away that he walked out of the hospital yesterday.

Regards, Roy

44 and cloudy.  Rain this afternoon.  Buckeye to drop in around 5 is being guessed.  Gone by 11:30 guessed.  Accumilation?????  Ground warm and highways too.  May be slick tomorrow AM as 29 low.

Will enjoy staying in with heat and TV.

Good looking job Buckeye.  [hate to give him compliments].

Later.

Good afternoon all,

Quiet day at work.  I think Roy was correct on the birthday number and a belated wish for Buckeye as well.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Kev, you might be right.

Went and got Italian.  Came out and streets, concrete and steps covered with slick slush.  Melting and will freeze tonight and thaw when sun hits it tomorrow.

Chief, It don't take anything these days to close school. When I was a kid they never closed unless there was like a foot of snow and still snowing. Today even here 4" and they close and if it is 0 out (wind chill) they close. We hever closed for the cold that I remember when I was a kid. And BTW No AC then either.

Today the in town kids ride the bus. Back then you had to be an out of towner to ride a bus. I lived a mile from the high school and walked it all the time till I found friends with cars and could cop a ride.

Things sure have changed, and not for the better. Wink

High today was 22 but full sun and that helps. I did venture out to Krogers for supplies and feel way better. I think that TAMIFLU is something everyone our age should have in the counter waiting if needed. This only came on, on Monday and I think I will be good to go tomorrow!

Wife feels like I did two days ago.  Tongue Tied

Mornin' boys.  Clear and 17, with a pretty sunrise along the Alleghanie front range.  FifeMom's birthday, so we'll be taking my folks dinner later on.

Did get the layout cleaned up, the track, buildings, horse wagons, et al back on the newly sceniced area.  Then vaccumed the carpet for Wifey's inspection.  She says it needs more color.  Ran trains for the first time in weeks, and my AF train had gremlins galore.

Buckeye - I like the octo-end.  Remind those youngin's not to run into the train room...  Have we decided how to "mask" that pylon, or are we keeping that a secret to be revealed later?  I still think the Queensgate tower would look good there.

Hello there,

finally back on the bathroom project.

Chief. ...that's quite a unit you got there. I'll gladly store it for you during the off season.

Back in the day they didn't close schools here. If the bus showed you went to school, the people who lived close and walked were expected to show up .

Started this last night and crashed.

Best get on with the day.

Prayers for those in need

A snow day in the North....

Thank you Chief for the nice compliement. Are you now out of the hospital? Did you get to ride in the squad after you choked on your words. Laugh

Kevin...the corners of an Octogon are 135 degrees. Not sharp. There are four other corners that are currently 90 degrees and will be coped. There is a facing board to be install around the exposed edges of the layout, too.

Ryan Newman, Boiler up, Hammper Down!

Fife.... Thank you. Here is how you layout an octogon.  Easy, peasy!

Lionel produced the video below. As I watched the video, I couldn't decide if this was a good idea or a bad idea. What do you think?

Have a good day and prayers for those in need.

Hadn't thought of it before, but you just made me realize I employed similar octogan-like benchwork in 2 areas.  Makes for ease of movement.

Much better today, Wife, not so much!

Buckeye, Not sure what to think of that video. It don't say much for FasTrack's conductivity. Laugh And a real PITA to do.

I think the facing board will do just fine. I do like the straight edges of the octogon.

Temps are recovering.
Best get.

daveclarklumber (Train night at Dave's)

Virtual Railfan (Horseshoe Curve, Belen, Santa Fe Jct)

Railstream (Fostoria)

Dawlish webcams (English Channel coast line)

There's so much content to choose from, you may never watch network tv again.

Afternoon folks!

Sunny finally, headed to 50's today. 60's and light rain tomorrow. Another freeze scheduled for next week. Might be the last of the year if norms prevail?

Fife - Haven't visited those channels. Will have to give them a look. I lean towards the DIY/shop/machining channels. I am amazed at how many steam operated machines still exist and operate. I also like several of the steam channels out of the U.K.

Kev - glad you are improving! Hope the wife improves quickly!

Was planning on some NASCAR today, but it is raining in Las Vegas?

Regards, Roy

I think I'm on the last page for today, but this software's page index is a mystery to me. How can you have a negative page number? I've never read a book with negative page numbers. Must be a new math thinging.

Kevin... Lionel must have hundreds of complaints about Fastrak conductivity for them to post the video on YouTube. My computer also blows up Fife's photo.

Buckeye, good to know it is not just me with Fife's picture!!

I have also seen a Lionel video on how to bend the rail ends to help fix the conductivity problem. I don't use any FasTrack so I can't say one way or the other but sure looks bad to me.   ???

Was a great day here, hit 60 and full sun. Winter starts again tomorrow.

Mornin' boys.  Red skies and 34 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Had a wonderful weekend.  Took my mom a nice seafood platter for her birthday, Friday.  Nice easy train ride Saturday, and some quality time with Youngest Princess.  Then spent yesterday travelling back to Baltimore for the grandsons' (both) baptism.  Nice little reception afterwards, and a visit to Pizza John's, then the Middle Princess drove us back to WV.  So many blessings.

I removed the tower pic, which cured the problem.  So that one was on me, guys.

Morning folks!

Sunny and 60's today. Big front on the way for Wed freeze. Wind howling outta the NW. Almost took the front door outta my hand when I went out to get the newspapers.

Hmmm - I had no issue with Fife's pic? Now page numbers, at least as inganeers, Buckeye and I can appreciate the negative numbers, but watch out if they go imaginary or logarithmic!

53 and cloudy.  You guessed it.  Rain for the next few days.

Buckeye is right.  Fasttrac and Realtrax.  Solder all sections together.

Have a good one.
