See it is working again.  Out the door to the farms.  Paint deer stand and steps to camo them.  Deer probably don't care.

Have a good one.

Evening folks!

Yesterday was the normal very warm in the mid 90's. Had a great day as 4 of us 'boys' went to the State Fair while the ladies attended the brunch/bridal shower for our daughter. Had a get time consuming corn dogs, brews, and other fair food! Wandered around while catching up and looking at typ fair displays, new cars at the car show, and some nice live music at several stages.

Mike C - prayers for the ms Angel

Looks like it it time for a new 'pot' tonight!

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

Been an interesting 2 days since I did not post yesterday.  Wife called me as I was on the way home saying she had been to eye doctor.   He thought she might have had a detached retina.  Turns out it was not but there was some diabetic bleeding which the specialist did the first step of treating today.  Quite a scary situation but it looks like it will be successfully resolved.   Weather will get warmer this weekend.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Fife - back in the swing at the WM?  Cool.... really need to plan a getaway out there...

Roy - and technology rolls on....sort of...

Prayers for Sandra -- - -

Took the road runner to the final 2019 cruise night at Robbinsville with Jenni and her Charger, I received a Sponsor's award.  $25 Rock Auot card and a folding chair, I was surprised - - I usually get nice compliments and not much more.

Weather is cooler but the Sun is warm and I enjoy that.

Italian-American faire this weekend, Jenni has passes and will be taking pictures for the event.  Tomorrow it's Bobby Rydell and Fireworks!!  Should be very cool.

Will start the videos and working on the layout soon, weather is better and the atiic is cooler.

OK back at it, will check in soon....

Hot and dry.  Watering Wifey's gardens.  Good thing.  No hurricanes.

Early train to Charlotte held in Durham. Man on the tracks hit and killed. Loading folks on buses. Why? Move the body and send it on. I am guessing suicide by train. I'm sure NS had sent freights through earlier. Train will sit for hours.

Later.

Evening folks!

Long day today dealing with ATT installer and their phone support for a conversion of wife's 2 business lines from regular telephone lines to VoIP. Thats 6-7 hrs I will never get back...and their new equip does not support 3 lines (2 bus plus 1 residential), yet their old gear supported up to 6...right....so now the house residential line is not connected to anything. So a residential installer comes out tomorrow to resolve. We may end up with two fiber lines into the house for 3 phones...progress!...and more fun than washing socks or a cat!

Kev - I have never done that...ever...really...no, really...

Buckeye Riveter

It was an exciting day yesterday!!!Yeah

The new and expanded BO&W Railroad layout started construction.

The BO&W being a rather cheap organization saved much of the benchwork from the previous layout including the L-Girders.

The support frames were also saved.

Clamping commenced

This segment of the layout will be 26' feet long. The room is painted B&O grey and LED Can lights are above. I have already made one change and replaced this support with a 2x4 frame. This frame is now being used at the end instead of the middle.

RT... Good job and a nice collection. Yes

Everyone take care of themselves.

Looking good Buckeye.

Sun and 70s today. It's been real nice, door and windows open.

Kev a bachelor would have just sponged the coffee into his cup and gone merrily on his way. A mess to be sure.

Good evening from clear 67°F Southern Ohio,

Good day at work.  We’re starting a new project and we are working the bugs out of the operating procedures.  I’m fortunate I have a very good crew.

I got the brakes and bearings off one side of the Ranger.  I just broke a caliper guide pin bolt. Not too bad, only $6 for a replacement bolt and guide pin.  The wheel bearing are soaking in solvent and the hub spindle looks good. Maybe start reassembly Friday.

Kev - good idea on the float

Roy - yea, the 12 in reality is usually 13 hours, and I get tired.  To add insult to it because I’m supervision, it is all at straight time.Sad

RT - Looking really nice

Good night and may God bless you and your families

Hey,

I dug the hole to find the septic lid yesterday,,,They charge a min of $150 if they do it,,,WOW just put my ashes in that hole and call me gone,,,WTH??? 36" across and 16" deep. I thought I was going to drop dead right there. Today they pumped the septic out. $300.00+but never been done since I had it installed 13 years ago so it was interesting to see how full it is. I ordered a tank riser so I will never have to dig that motherfu%#@&* out again! Good to go till 2030 now.

So that is off the "before winter" bucket list.

WOW RT nice job on the shelves! I would hate to have to clean all of those. Laugh

Thanks for all the well wishes for wifey! Will see what they come up with next week.

Evening All,

Just kickin back letting my face heal.  I did some really dumb stuff scheduling Dr appts to close together.  (Fri., eye injection which was cancelled  :D , Mon., eye lid surgery, Tue, dentist appt.).  The eyelid was much more stressful than anticipated, only had a local, and eye clamps on both eyes.  That was painful!!  But, at least its OVER!

RT, Is there more than one Lowes in your area?  You might end having a shelving availability issue the way your going.  It is looking good.

SJ, Hope the trip to Dr went well.

Doug, Sure hope the Drs have good news for you!!!  You deserve it!

Buckeye, Did you incorporate a Lake on your layout?  Maybe in the shape of a fish?

Take care all !!

Hello there,

Extra long night at the drags Saturday. A huge turnout had the track scrambling.  They have trouble with the usual turnout. Long story short about half of the classes weren't finished when racing ended at midnight due to a strictly enforced  noise ordnance.

Grandson was one of two remaining with one loss each in one class, three with one loss in the other. We did gain a bit of speed due to the gearing change but not as much as I'd hoped. He did clinch 1st for the season in both classes. Son went out early.

Sunday the alarm went off a little more than 3 hours after we got to bed. Followed by Mass breakfast, Wallyworld, lunch and Mom visit. The plan was an afternoon nap  but that never happened.

Watched the littlest grandaughters till a bit after 7, in bed shortly after 8.

Sunday was also my turn to deposit collection so that was 1st thing Monday.

Spent the rest of the day on house stuff and being tired.

This morning an appointment  and shopping for grandson a birthday present. He turns 14 today. Making me feel old.

This afternoon spent on yard work while Mrs chauffeured her broken leg sister to appointments and shopping.

Bed is calling

Prayers for those in need.

Good afternoon from beautiful sunny 72°F Southern Ohio,

Over the past weekend I was checking out the front end and brakes on the Red Ranger and the pads are thin and a little wobble so I put it in the garage and pulled the wheels last night to replace the brakes and bearings.  With the 12 hour work days it does not leave much time but I figure a little each night and maybe by the weekend be done or close to finishing up so I can finish the power washing of the house in prep for staining.  I figure October will be occupied with the staining of the house and garages.

When I came outside this morning the sky was beautiful!  The stars were really bright.  I guess there is a blessing at leaving the house at 5:15 am.

Kev - Keeping Sandra in my prayers

Don - Fantastic news about your eyes!

Mike - I would think the band kids and directors would fall under the same criteria for heat stress protocols as any sports team.  To have kids pass out is unacceptable.  You are getting into heat stroke.

Fife - Sounds like you are a part of a very good team

Lunch break over.  May God bless you and your families

Jim

Morning folks!

Coudy, 78 for the moment, 92 this afternoon, and maybe a shower late.

Kev - continued prayers for Sandra!

Fife - well of course the reviews went up with your return! I'll bet if you start wrenching on the 1309 you can speed that up too!

MikeC - both our kids were in marching band, obviously the heat's really bad down here, and yes the band directors are relentless.

Mornin' boys.  Partly sunny and 63 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Worked 5 trains in a row this past weekend, without a hitch.  Reviews have been very positive the past 2 weeks...coincidence?  Perhaps.  Forgot to mention that I got to see CSX 3194 Spirit of Law Enforcement diesel, on Saturday.  It was in Cumberland all day (same day as the Back the Blue 5k).  This unit is truly stunning in person.

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work, but a long day.  Talked to sister about her twin daughter's marching band.  Seems like the band won, but six of the kids (including one of the twins) passed out from the heat.   What kind of idiot band director allows that to happen???  Got CTT today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Afternoon all!

Cloudy and some sun. 86 at the time being. Pretty warm.

Kids will be here tonight for family dinner. Wife and daughter are working on some handmade attendee gifts for the "moms" shower lunch next Sunday. When did everyone have to receive a gift for attending a shower?  A gold star for showing up with a shower gift? I asked them if someone does not bring a shower gift do they not get the attendee gift? For some reason they are ignoring me????

#17 Texas A&M continue to find ways to continue dropping in the polls with the 28-20 loss to #3Auburn. The final score is misleading, A&M had no control in that game.

Kev - nice and you will like the synthetic rope vs wire rope.

Good afternoon guys,

Rain today so I went and got then installed a 4,500# winch on the new Gator, That should pull any deer out of the deep back ravine and do fine with tree work around here!  Yes With the JD winch ready kit already in the Gator it fit nice and has the Synthetic rope so should be fine.
Got it with the 11% off at Menards! Smile

Morning folks!

Cloudy and quite warm. Low 90's today. Been running about 5 degrees above normal. Predicted to stay that way for next several weeks. Surprisingly the weathe folks summer wrap up stated this summer nawth Texess run below normal for temperatures. Figure that out since the upper Midwest was much higher than normal.

Had a meeting late afternoon yesterday to finalize daughter's wedding venue, layout, and rough out the food $$$$$$...it's gonna be nice!

KEV - prayers for Sandra!

RT - movin along!

DonB - great news re the eyes!

Chief - plop, plop, fizz, fizz....

KRM

Morning,

RT, post some pictures over here, or do you have a thread running on CTT I have not seen?

Right now it's a holy mess in there lol. All I have at present is a 12' X 16' four feet up. I used 2" x 4" in a 4' framing boxes and since added shelves and even built some under it, to store all I have and not sure I have enough room with that lol.

Will try to get some updated Pics today. I'm finding things I forgot I had, even items I thought I sold long time ago ( ie a texas special passenger set ( no boxes but the whole set. ) also discovered I had seventeen 2500 series aluminum passenger cars boy do most of them need cleaning big time. And I'm going to get down to two of each and buy a 2353 set of AA Santa-Fe's for the other 5 of them and I will have both 2190W sets. Lionel did the same set with same set # 2190W but one had the 2343's and the other had the 2353's in them. 2343's where from 1952 and the other from 1953.

Morning all.

Plans for today clear all the paper and stuff on the floor in this room, as now the train sets and other boxes of trains are out of it :) , Also put some time in the train room trying to get eight 27GL tubs of trains onto shelves. Actually should say eleven as I have three sitting in a corner under the table also.

The plan is already to expand the layout, on the 16' side I can go twelve feet long and another 10' deep. I have to leave an area of 4' x 10' for a short platform, about 4' x 4'  plat form and then 2 or 3 steps and room for the door to the outside that is in that room, the sliding barn style door, which will be on the inside of the main house. There a spot which use to be a window that we are just going to legnthen it to floor level of the house and put the door there.

Otherwise life goes on here. Hope all have a good weekend.

Morning,

Don, GREAT news on the eyes!!! Yes I know that stuff was working on your mind.

RT, post some pictures over here, or do you have a thread running on CTT I have not seen?

I wanted to go to a antique tractor pull in Symerton today with my brother but he has kidney stones again and it is raining now and looks like rain in the afternoon. Lightning Storm I was going to try to take the 6yo grand-son Jordan with but doubt we go now. Sad

Best go open the gate.

Hello there,

Kev.....good luck to Sandra

Don.....great news on the eye.

Mrs has the last of the maters from our garden in the crock for chili.

      Slept late this AM.

Last drag of the season tonight. There is a rain date next weekend but they've elected to forgo it due to issues getting water for the track.

That said although they're gaining on him  there's a slim chance of anyone catching grandson in the points race. I'm  hoping the gearing change I made yesterday will put him back in 1st in tonight's race.

That and a hill climb club meeting were yesterday's activities.

Best get on with the day

Good Evening,

Boy is that an understatement!!

Kev, WSure hope everything goes well for Sandra, it would be a wonderful Christmas gift for her to be able to get out of all that pain.  Lots of prayers from the left coast!

RT, You're making really making a lot of progress!  You've accomplished a lot in the past month.  There is ACTUAL carpet tape available.  It is what is commonly used at trade shows.  Do a google on it you will probably find it.  It is really good stuff, will do just what your looking for.  Removable but strong.  Also, maybe you could use the Transfer Table in a classification yard, for shifting cars around, just a thought.

I had a great day, went to the VA expecting another injection in the eye, (Macular-Degeneration).  After the exam and photo were done.  The Dr. said sorry, you don't need another injection, it appears the condition has become inactive!!  I noticed 2 days ago the gray spot has disappeared, and today my left eye even tested better.  They still want to monitor it on a 6 week basis, and that's great.  All in all, a huge sigh of relief here!  Still have an appt on Monday for plastic surgery on the eye lid.  The drooping creates a blind spot and they can correct it.  Just a quick out patient procedure, and a couple of stitches.

Went over the expenses of my trip, turned out it was considerably less than what I was expecting.  I guess all that free-loading paid off.  Thanks Chief for all the tips, and SJ you were right on.  Its easy once you get started.

If any of you enjoy country music, PBS has a series on "Country Music", there are 8 two hour episodes, #1 and #2 are being re-broadcasted tonight (Sat 9/21), you might want to set the DVR.  Essentially it the evolution of Country Music.

Got 1/4" of rain overnight and heading to 87 today. Will be a stickey one here today on The North Bluff.

Hello there,

Doc visit Wednesday went better than expected. He says due to my numbers the known blockages would've gotten any worse. I need to lose more weight and I'm retaining fluid so oh joy he started me on Lasix.

Grandaughters soccer team improved to 5 and 1 breaking  a 0 to 0 tie with 2 minutes to play. The girls were wupped playing with no subs.

Spent yesterday farming. Covered a lot of ground to get 80 bales due to dry weather. Shoulda  been 250.

Best get on with the day

Evening folks!

Cooler today due to the tropical depression between here and Houston. Radar seems to show this thing has dissipated quite a bit. Maybe some rain tomorrow.

Spent many hours yesterday and today dealing with an upgrade to Norton PC security. Lotsa hours of on line chat and phone help. 3 of 6 PCs choked on the long download. Norton's software is great, once you get it loaded and actually working...argh...

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work.  One more day of I-465 construction.  Weather nice.  Watched "my" soccer girls take an early lead then lose to a team helped by the non calls of the officials.  Lot of the girls got hurt due to lax reffing.  Not too sure this is fun anymore.  Maybe I should stick to 5Ks.  Non contact sport.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Ouch !

Tell Sandra to hang tough. I had a vertebroplasty on the L2/3/4 and it was like nite and day. Went to sleep in misery and woke up with no more back pain. Hopefully her procedure will be as successfull.

We spent all morning at the doctors. At least we are getting a plan together for Sandra's two issues. Her spine issue will be first then a hip replacement has to happen.

Best get .

Hello there,

Sub bob.....where are you.

Good day yesterday at the farm show. Many of the old faces are gone. We used to help there a lot before Mrs started working. They've asked us to return for several years and we said maybe after retirement. It was disappointing to see how participation has fallen off in all areas. Farm crops, vegetables and especially home canned goods. Arts and crafts not so much. I chalk it up to the changing times.

Today some hay to bale a cardio doc 6 months check and grandaughter soccer game. Her Jr high team doing well at 4 and 1. Sometimes they're playing short due to injury.

I'm pretty sure a heart cath is in my near future due to how I've been feeling.

Best get on with the day.

Prayers for those in need.

Morning folks!

To hit 92 today. Rain from the tropical depression in the Gulf staying south. May move this way starting tomorrow. We need the rain.

Phish - good deal on the Ranger fix. Sounds complicated to sort out. I have similar issues to sort out on the El Camino. It does run. Waiting for cooler weather to work further on it.

Kev - ya just tire of cruddy neighbors...I have several....

Good Morning from beautiful clear 61°F Southern Ohio,

It is a nice night out, the moon and sky are beautiful, one advantage of nightshift I guess.

I’ve been working on the Red Ranger EGR system to clear a P0401 code, (EGR insufficient flow detected).  After reattaching a vacuum line to the EGR valve, remounting the differential feedback pressure sensor and cleaning a filter on the fuel vapor management valve, the code has cleared and we’ll see if it stays cleared.  The system is in a relearn mode and running smoother the more I drive it.  The good part is that since it is the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder, it is fairly easy to get to stuff.  Next will be replace the front brake pads and replace/repack the wheel bearings.

Starting to see more bucks up on the hill behind the house at the feeder.  There were six one-two year olds at one time up there yesterday.  I think I caught sight of the big one I saw from last year.  It should be a good year for the deer because there is a lot of acorns this year.

Don - Your trip sounds so great.  Being able to drive it with the El Camino just makes it so neat.  With the assumed larger circumference of the 15” wheels you would travel further with each revolution than what would be recorded, so your odometer would read less than actual distance.  I’d trust your trip data from your GPS more than the mapquest estimate.

To find the difference the tire size made, divide the OEM diameter by the tire size used diameter, then subtract from one. For example OEM 28", tire used 31".  28/31 = .90.   1 - .90 = .10 or 10%.

I need to get ready for shift turnover.

May God bless you and your families

Jim

Evening folks!

It did not get to high 90's today. 92 and reasonable pleasant. Might get some rain next couple of days. Hope so, need it.

Had a foot doc appt today, so that took the morning. Worked on some std ga train stuff this afternoon in my office/work space. Rebuilt some roller assemblies, replaced a stripped worm gear, cleaned out grease and relubed. Enjoyed that while watching some old westerns on TCM.

KRM

Poor Brain and his mom had their well pump burn up yesterday so they are out of water. He is getting water from us for the toilets and other stuff but he has to have a new deep well drilled to replace the shallow shared well he had that is now considered illegal because you can't use a single well to feed two different peoples houses or have the old pit well. So there goes 13K.

Seems like you're out in the country. Why not replace the pump and tell no one? ?

Bank,

That is what I would of done but there a feud between them and the other house that uses the well so they want to kill that well I guess to force the other to get their own well. The water from that well sucks as well.  Never get property with a shared anything.

Back from vacation and all hell has broken loose - geez whaata disaster ..... up to 12 for the day, system upgrades are crap, my Wifi keeps crapping out and shutting off if I walk away from the computer.....

Nice trip Don!!

Dad update - still very sore, the tumor is moving and he gets a stronger radiation dose today at 445....thanks for the prayers, guys!! Hoping this will terminate the tumor for good.

Fireman's Convention Weekend Update - So the weather was great from Wednesday until Friday and it was very windy.  There was a bit of a chill in the air but Saturday rebounded with better temps.
Wednesday we got in late and had dinner with some friends I hadn't seen since 1992.  Thursday was a great day, spent time at the pool and cocktails poolside.  There were many water balloons launched over the motel toward the boardwalk via giant slingshot.  Dinner on the deck and more adult beverages...
Friday we had breakfast on the deck after I registered for convention.   Had a Mike's Black Cherry Lemonade with my eggs and bacon......then off to a local brewery for a quick birthday celebration for my assistant Trustee's betrothed.....the Ironbound Cider was the best.
We had Prime Rib and Baked Potato for dinner at the motel.  A walk on the boardwalk for shopping and Ferris Wheel completed the night of the 13th, full moon over the ocean.
Saturday was a VERY early day was at convention for the annual memorial service and final meeting.  We had cocktails on the deck with BBQ for lunch.  We went to dinner - just Jenni and I - on the water on the intercoastal waterway.  We found out that a meer 5 blocks from us a 3rd and 2nd story deck had collapsed with 21 injured-fortunately no deaths, 2 life flighted out.  We did boardwalk stuff and go carts with the group and then cocktails before sleep.
Sunday morning it rained but by noon, when we got out of the room, it cleared up and was humid and sunny.  Had lunch then another quick shopping trip and a ride on the Ferris Wheel before launching the road runner northward to home.

Laundry was completed and was in bed by 11 Sunday night.

So Jenni and I went to a viewing last night, (my past Chief's wife passed from a heart valve replacement at 86 years young) went as well as expected.  We went back to the firehouse for a bit then a quick visit to the parents and went to eat.  Had to finish up my laundry we both passed out on the bed 'til midnight.  I'll worry about hanging stuff up tonight after work.

I have some uniform committee duties to perform tonight after work then home.  Dad is up for his consult and then the radiation at 445 PM tonight.  We are praying for the best outcome.

Mom is internet viral...still.  The story has been picked up by Time and sources from New Zealand and Australia.....she's going world wide now!!

In case you missed it: https://youtu.be/sDlVXz_e_5g

Yes, that is my Mom!!

Upper 70s today and cooler, breezy right now but not uncomfortable.  Wish we were back at the beach......

I'll check back later!

Hi guys,

I too tried to get on numerous times today with no success.

It sure is good being home!  Arrived Fri afternoon, then Saturday we had a power outage for about 14 hours!  (Due to an arm on a pole breaking, stressing out the cable, and underground cabling. ??)  Anyway pretty much unpacked, and got the El Camino all cleaned up.  Sure got a LOT of compliments, pretty much every time I stopped for gas or meal. (37 gas stops).  Spent most of the time since I've been home organizing pictures.  Do have some electrical work to resolve, light switch doesn't work.

Banks, Happy belated birthday!!  Sure seems like you got the inside lane on tickets!  Good job!

Roy, Glad to hear the shower was a success!  Am sure that time is going to become more of an issue as the wedding approaches.

Some Trip Comments;
Without a doubt this was the best trip I have ever made!!  It is truly awesome  to know I have so many friends all around the country!  And there are a LOT more that I didn't get the chance to see!  All my issues and/or problems were self induced.  The single biggest issue was the GPS and cell phone.  (Kay told me before I left I should get a new one.)  The cell battery would go down quick, and then wouldn't recharge completely.  I didn't help it, I left the display on INSTEAD of turning it off.  Chris told me to turn the display off, if I was travelling a long way, and didn't need a visual.  Also, I was playing Pandora at the same time! I did have it recharging in a 2a recharger.  Anyway, it got so the battery would not charge at all overnight.  So, I got a new phone in Raleigh, but NOW, I have a learning curve issue.  Both with the phone and GPS!  And that has been overwhelming.

One incident; after I left Altoona on my way to Buckeye's, I planned on driving 4/5 hours, getting west of Pittsburg, then get a motel.  I thought Buckeye suggested Stubenberg OH, so I get off the Interstate and didn't see any motel.  So I find a shady parking lot, pull over, and see what I can find using Bookings.com.  While I'm sitting there, with my head looking down at the cell, I hear this woman's voice.  "Sir, Are you alright?"  I was startled that she got that close to me, without me noticing her approach.  I told her I was fine and looking for a motel.  She said, there isn't much close, and IF you find one don't wander away from it very far.  And make sure your car is well locked.  She went on, S..ville is somewhat of a getto, and things get pretty wild here at times.  Also, don't make friends with any local ladies, they are mostly prostitutes and you will definetly take something home you don't want.  I thanked her for the advice, (deciding I want to get out of town ASAP).  She then went on to tell me that she and her 3 children were just coming from football practice, and the daughter (oldest, maybe 7/8), said, "Mommy there is an older man sitting over there in that car with his head down, he may be hurt!"  So she turned around and drove up to my door no more than 12" away.  (The older car had a huge buckle in the hood, surprised she could see out of it.)  So I got back on the hwy and got a room in Cadiz.  Oh, she also offered me her phone number in case I got lost.  I politely refused it and thanked them for stopping.  All of that AND she did NOT ask me for any spare change or anything.

Jim, I find this interesting;
Mapquest indicated the trip would be 6,004 miles.
Upon return the odometer registered 7,119 miles!

Possible explanations for the difference; (1,115 miles)
The wheels on the car are 15" vs 14" OEM  (wouldn't that             make the mileage less rather than more?)
I don't think I spent that much time driving around "lost"             and recovering.
Maybe Mapquest vs GPS system have a significant variance,
Or, I went thru a lot of Detours? (But not that much.)
Or, maybe I didn't record the beginning reading accurately.
  Hmmmm??

Going through the photos have brought to mind a number of little incidents like above.

Hello there,
Glad to see Don made it home safely. Looking forward to a full report.

Roy glad the shower was a success.

Lot's going on A bit of farming, appointments, and projects. The proposed trip to SE PA to race on Saturday was canceled due to rain. Ended up taking Mrs to have an abscess opened. Then house stuff the rest of the day.

Oak Ridge Boys tickets for March 9th went on sale Saturday. All tickets same price, snagged some really good seats.

Cornboil at church yesterday

Today yard work and back to have abscess checked.

Tomorrow we're working on the local farm show. First we've done that in years.

Bed calling

Prayers for those in need.

Could not log on all day?????

Our neighbor Brain came over and helped me take the grill off the new deck. So I scrubbed then pressured washed it and now it is ready for stain. Got to get it done before any more leaves start to fall! Hope it will be dry enough tomorrow to get it done. Poor Brain and his mom had their well pump burn up yesterday so they are out of water. Well I am done till next year with the new replacement deck. Happy with the way it turned out. Not happy with the help I was promised from the kids,,,,,,,,,GO FIGURE!!!! At least it is in stain and will be good this winter.

Best get!

Good evening all,

Washed the Escape today.  The aluminum wheels are nice but if you miss a spot cleaning them, it shows up like a sore thumb.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good evening from beautiful clear 62°F Southern Ohio.

I’ve not read or posted for a week or so.  Work has been crazy busy and I’ve spent my days off cleaning the cedar siding on our house in preparation for staining it.  It is looking really nice. I am pleased and surprised at how much lighter in color the house is. All I have left to clean is the porch railing and porch eaves.  One of the parishes I serve held its 150th annaversary today. Both priests all thee deacons and the Bishop was at the Mass. There was an antique tractor show a car show games lots of food fun and of course beer.

Restored the headlights on the Red Ranger.  The ranger is doing good. I’m going to replace some of the instrument cluster lights tomorow before going into work.  It will make for an easy morning because I’m picking up a week of nights to cover another supervisor who needs to be off next week.

Don - I’m glad you made it home safe.  Sounds like you had a great time. How many miles was the trip?

Roy - You could suggest you daughter to elope

Buckey - Glad you took care of Don

Good night and may God bless you and your families

Mornin' Shake-and-Baker!  So glad you made it home safe.  What a trip.  I envy what you just did.

We brought youngest princess home for the weekend.  I wanted to see her before my schedule gets to hectic.  She likes IHOP, so that's where we dined.

Mornin' boys.  Rain and 68 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  The bear visited again last night; trail cam snapped some good pics of "George."  Now wifey wants to get a nice frame and put it with the children's senior portraits...

The youngest princess's bf visited her yesterday, at her dorm.  On the way home, a bambi reconfigured the front end of his Jeep.  He's fine.  Jeep, not so much.

Making homemade trees, out of dried sedum and foam.  Look good from above.  Also trying to rough in a river, using gloss medium over latex paint.  Needs work.

And to our triscadecaphobians on the Coffee Pot, hang in there.  Only 13 hours left.  Oooo, sorry.

Morning folks!

Cloudy and a light breeze from north. A weak cool front is approaching. Rain to the west but not expected to make it here.

SJ - the Clown will be out!

Prep in process here for a wedding shower hosted by my daughters friends, but at our house. Pool party. Expecting 40+. We have been scouting/borrowing chairs, pop-ups, etc., from friends. Wife said they said my wife and I will not have to do anything. Everything will be just as it was prior. My comment is my wife missed an opportunity - I think it should be better/cleaner, and maybe paint the living room before they check out!

Good evening all,

Better than expected day at work.  Still warm.  Watched "my" soccer girls lose a very winnable match 4-0.  Unable to finish on our offensve end + 4 breakaways for the other side = 1 loss that does not reflect the way it was played.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Hello there,

thanks again for the birthday wishes.

Yesterday Mrs and I traveled to Amish country in Bellville Pa. No pullets but we did get a few flea market treasures, some baked goods and bargains at the country store.

Appointments today, 1 more tomorrow

My York badges came in yesterday's mail. Anyone else coming???

I did see the October 2019 meet notice had April of 20 at 3 days.

Bought tickets this evening to see the Oak Ridge Boys  Christmas Show at the Palace Theatre in Greensburg PA on December 6th, about 1.5 hours if there's no blizzard.

Found out today son's job was abolished at NS's Juniata shops. He'll be able to bump but shift and off days are in question.

Don......continued safe travels. Glad to hear Jonadel is well, wish he'd come back to us.

Eyes are heavy .

Good evening,

Well we spent an hour at Grandparent’s day this morning at Jordan’s 1st grade class in school.
Was fun and better than last year’s at Lexi’s 3rd grade class. I guess they made some adjustments because this was the second year at it. By the time we left the classroom and went to the gym, the kids had, had enough of us old folks and started just having fun. That is fine, as it should be and by then we were wore out from having to walk from one end of the school to the other twice. As we left the kids went back to class and the grandparents ran out the school door like rats out of a burning building.  Laugh

Mornin' Fellas

Just a quick drive-by post.

Have a lot going on now with the pending move, lots and lots of scheduling, trying to figure out the 'best' truck to rent. Penske's 26ft trucks are loading dock height and with a long ramp that is going to be a lot of leg work. UHaul's 26 ft trucks are 18 inches off the ground... much easier. Problem is I can schedule a Penske truck for 4 days, UHaul I can get for 1. UGH

Don - sorry I missed you on your trip through MD. Sure would have been nice to see you again. The new house stuff sucked all our time Labor Day weekend, and Labor Day we treated the kids to a trip to Tyson's Corner, VA. Christina got to go to The American Girl Doll Store and Matthew The Lego Store. LOL

TheQ leaves for South Africa tomorrow she'll be gone for a week. The following Monday we have to check-list walkthrough, and close on the house Sept 30. 18 days to go!

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & hot along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Company picnic was yesterday, and got my fill of fried chicken.  Then drove to one of my former squad buddy's ranch, in Old Town.  He bought himself a 50 acre spread, and is fixing it up for his retirement place.  He's a big "project" guy, and my Mrs. has big "plans" for him...

dbaker - keep on truckin'...  I sure do miss jonadel.

Evening all!

Mid-90's but hoomid. So not as pleasant as the last few days. After I repaired two sprinklers yesterday, the system ran last night. This morning I noticed a lot of water in the street. ARGH. Another zone had a busted head at the street curb, right by the water meter housing, so water meter housing full of water. This head and another in the same zone have been problematic ever since some jerk (we live on the end of a circular) ran a big truck over the lawns (too lazy to back up a bit to complete the turn around) a few years ago and crushed my water meter housing and sank these two sprinkler heads about 6 in, plus leaving a long wheel trench). So pipes that are 12 in down are ok, but out of kilter. So dug another trench, wallowing in mud, to move this head to the center of the lawn strip between the sidewalk and curb. With the requisite trip to lowes this took most of the morning and afternoon.

DonB - Thumbs Up on the trip!

Good Morning, (Try this again, earlier post didn't make it.)

9/11 - Sombering Day!  Prayers for all those who lost their lives, and their families!

Happy Birthday Banks!

The past two days were super!  Stopped in and visited Kev, what a fantastic place he has.  Got a ride in his new Gator, which was great!  My first time, he has a beautiful clean and neat 4 car garage with lots of great toys, he feels they are just tools.  Sure looks like toys to me, but I know he is right.  He toured me around, and Ill being my home state, I really enjoyed it!  Brought back many great memories.  Love his layout, really is very well done!!

Then yesterday I stopped in at Jon Englehardts place.  Another very beautiful house, and great host.  We had a lot of great conversation, and his layout (which was featured in CTT, Dec 2011), is a masterpiece!  Was another fantastic start for a great day.  Enjoyed the drive across Iowa, and Nebraska lots and lots of territory, simply awesome!

Woke up this morning in North Platte Nebraska.  Going out today to view the "Golden Spike Tower", will see the biggest classification yard in the world.  From the tower I'm sure it will look like a layout.

This trip has been beyond ANY expectation I ever had!!!!  The only downside is not being able to see the folks I haven't, but my schedule has been tight, (due to upcoming Dr appts).  My apologies to those I didn't get too, SubM Bob, Doug M, the NJ gang, all the guys in Michigan, Mike C, Jim in Southern Ohio, and so many more!  I would definitely recommend this to everyone!!!!

Some of you may know about this, I had reviewed my directions with Buckeye prior to leaving his place, it looked really good.  After I left, I stopped and got gas before setting out, decided to call Kay.  She asked if I was going to be going thru Indianapolis, and I said "No, I would be north of there."  She commented, "You've always wanted to see the Brickyard, go for it."  So I did, thought maybe I would get a tour.  Got to Indy, no tour!  THEIR HAVING A NASCAR RACE!!!!  So after 5 secs of thought the El Camino headed to the Brickyard, as I approached the track I saw the fly-over.  Of course no difficulty with a ticket, and there I was at the 1st curve!  What a "Bucket Item", Nascar at the Brickyard!  And it was a great race as well.

When I leave N. Platte, I'm heading to Golden, CO, to see the Train Museum, their emphasis is on the Denver, Rio Grande.  Now what that is going to make this really fun, is that the guy that was in the engine with me when I fell, works there!  He is the Curator of Railcars & Equipment.  We haven't talked in awhile, and he is a good guy, so it will be definitely be fun.

Then homeward bound, I expect to be home either Saturday or Sunday.

Seeing all you guys has been a wonderful experience!!  And the trip around our beautiful country is so inspiring!!  These memories will last me forever!

Take care all!  And be SAFE!

Don

Afternoon folks!

Hit 94 today with a few clouds. Not so bad.

Picked up sprinkler parts and a new attic fan motor at Lowes yesterday. Found out I had two broken sprinkler heads and risers in the same zone. Zone is fed with a 3/4" line so for 20 min it was pumpin some water ineffectively. Got both heads and riser pipes replaced. One broken head has been nailed by the lawn guy 3 times this year. So while it was a still a cool 88 degrees I dug a short trench and moved the head 18" to get it right next to a rise on the front walk. Now it is in a better spot to avoid being stepped on. Need sons help on the roof for attic fan motor replacement. I will work from the inside. Planning this for Friday morning while it is still cool and he has no classes on Fridays.

Kev - glad DonB was able to visit! Was it Chip or Dale?

Everyone is hiding?

So, I am working in the shed today and I keep hearing something banging and scratching around in the wall between the hot and cold side of the shed. I start to try to make sure where it is and it seems to be in the wall inside not on the outside wall. Whatever it is it is going nuts so I figure it must of got in and can’t get out, what to do?? I decide to measure out how far down the back of the shed wall that spot is and I pull 4 bottom nails out of the shed siding, pry it out a few inches and sure as heck out comes a stupid Chipmunk??? Only here.  Laugh

Good evening all,

A good day.  Got crown put in with little issue.  Mowed south 40 and fenced in yard.  Front part had not grown at all.  Paid hospital bill and got 10% off for prompt payment.  Neighbor working on mowers got old John Deere 21 in running again.  All it needs is a new fuel tank and I can get rid of 30 inch Toro.  Weather nice as well.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Another nice day on the North Bluff above Marseilles. Tomorrow the heat will come in for about 3 days so the AC is going tonight.

Well Shake & Bake AKA Don Baker,,,showed up this morning about 9:30 and we did the nickle tour of the place here and around the area, went and got lunch then ran trains. Then he headed west.    It was a nice conversation and visit. Glad he came by as he was driving I80 across north central IL. Yes

BTW Don, I don't want you to not sleep tonight,,,,,,,,I fixed that Berk's gears. All I had to do was remove the shell and put them in the right place! Wink

Morning folks!

Nice breeze this morning. 78 headed to 96 with nice breezes all day. It will be cooling down at night now. Found a broken sprinkler and pipe in the front yard last night. May explain last months 'higher' water bill. Also have an attic power exhaust fan making noise. Looks like a trip to Lowes is on my upcoming agenda.

Nice cool one here today with rain the first half. Storm

Good to hear Don took the dive into the crowd for the Brickyard 400 today. I bet he had a good time. Heck where he is from, bet it looked like a smal crowd. Laugh

Hello there,

good night at the drags last night. Grandson placed 2nd in both his classes. He got a bit faster but we discovered he's wound tight by half track, time for taller gearing. Son got it together  and won the bracket class. Pretty good considering there were 24 in the class.

So so day on the hill today. Wupped as hit the bed at 230 and back up at 6. Waiting for takeout pitza then bed

Buckeye.......thanks for taking good care of Don.

Mike C.......glad all went well

Prayers for those in need

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 58 in the Potomac Highlands.

It was a pleasant first day back.  The crew were genuinely happy to see me, and I them.  Got some compliments from the ridership.  No work on the mallet for now.

Now to make myself a sausage and provolone omelett.

Evening folks!

Pretty warm today, 100.

Son has gotten interested in golf. He golfs lefty so my old sticks are no good for him. As an early bday present, yesterday we went to a local golf shop and found a nice set of used Callaway irons and a (I forget the brand) used lefty 3 wood - all for under $170 (same price as on Craig's list). No used lefty putters or drivers and no point in dropping $100 for a new putter or $350 for a driver. Dug out my old clubs and good news, I had an old single blade putter, so problem solved! Cleaned up the bag (bought it when I was in HS) and he is happy/good to go. We went out in the back yard and hit some wiffle balls. First time I have swung a club in 20 (or more) years. Heck, when it cools off I may go join him in a round (until my elbow gives out).

Dug around in the garden shed and found two 15 packs of new Titleist and Maxfli balls that I had received as office gifts. Old bag had plenty of tees, markers, divit tools, golf towels, etc. heck, even found some of my old 1970's scorecards from the Texas A&M campus golf course. Shot mid-90's - solid double bogey golf.

Dennis - parrots would be cool. We have crows and grackles In the back and front yards. Major obnoxious birds...

DonB - no Buckeyes from Buckeye?

Regards, Roy

Hello there,

Mike C......Congas on the nuptials! !!

Buckeye.........what Fire said

Yesterday PM Mrs and I  turned a bushel of maters into 16qt of canned maters.

Seems I need a REAL ID  to renew my CDL license. That requires a state issued birth certificate with a raised seal. Spent over an hour looking for mine. Finally found it but no raised seal. So on to the PennDOT  website. $30 and the exact info on my original a new one is on the way. Seems like a fundraiser to me.

Slept late this morning, Drags today so probably won't get to bed til 1AM or after. Hillclimb tomorrow.

Best get on with the day

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 58 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Weeelllll, my four months of being "on holiday" ends today.  Back on board 2 trains with the scenic rr.  It will be nice to see some of the folks.  I slept well, even with the mixed feelings.

Hung out with Wifey all day yesterday, and we even decorated the front porch for Fall.  Looks very nice.  Spoke with Fifepup, and he advised they didn't get anything from Dorian.  Ended evening with some "luv u's" with youngest princess.

cheapclassics - Good luck with the wedding!  Watch out for "crashers" from Snohizo.

Buckeye - Keep feeding Shake-n-Bake like that, he won't let you forward him to his next location...

Good morning from the Valley,

Don found his way to Ohio! Of course Mother Nature is cooperating with beautiful weater. No sharks, no salt, no worries. Cool Yesterday, we visited several historical locations including Keim Lumber, Hershberger's Market and the Age of Steam Roundhouse.

Last night for Don's Ohio dinner we had grilled steaks, corn on the cob, yellow tomatoes and fresh baked Mrs. Buckeye's peach pie. Dinner was served by candlight on the patio.

Don and I discussed all the friends we have made on the forum. I had one exception. Mischief

Have a good day!

Something to munch on: I just stopped by the post office, with a Lionel boxcar in hand, to get a price on mailing same out to the west coast.  $14.35.

10 years ago, the cost averaged between 7-8 bucks (that's per month x however long the interchange lasts).

Fife,

That my friend is the cost of getting old!!!! Wink

Weather was nice today. Wife had a fair day so that helped me.

Try getting a quote from fedex and UPS you know the weight now, just round up. I find them usually also creck using a regional rate B box a lot of time cheaper but still prioity.

Just say helicopter footage from North Myrtle Beach up to Beaufort NC. No roof damages at all. Only damage was at Emerald Isle. A camper mobile park where tornado hit earlier. That is a good report.

Sun is out and wind is gone. Put flags back up.

TGIF

Another meeting and was in bed by 1030, and happy about that.  Met up with Jenni for some Ice Cream at the DQ for a quick minute.  She was at the local cruise night while I was in my monthly meeting.

Windy and cloudy right now, the outer bands of Dorian are impacting the shore (Atlantic City and Wildwood) with rain and wind.  Should clear outta here by tomorrow.

I have a list of things to do tomorrow and then Sunday up early to help with the Tri-Atalon.  And that will skewer the plans to go to Roar to the Shore.

Nice to see DonB, Fife and Banks.....thanks for the pic, Banks!!

Weather guessers are jumping with joy.  Eye wall just touched edge of Cape Hatteras.  Dorian made land fall in US.

Sun popping in and out.  No rain for some time now.  Mow grass later today.  Never loss power.  No flooding.  Basement dry.  1.8 inches of rain which was much needed.

Farms [farther east] report from buddy Larry.  No power loss.  No flooding.  More rain than we got but really needed.  No wind damage.

Good Lord looked after us.

Later.

DonB, Banks, and Fife! - great you guz got together and at the 'Curve' to boot! Nice pic!

MikeC - more COWBELL!!!!!!

Anj - havin too much fun! Continued prayers for your dad!

Kev - you'll luv this - got a letter from my Part B provider letting me know they changed my mailing address to Mesa AZ a month ago - whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat???? Both wife and I have been on the phone with their 'higher level management' - some reimbursement checks, albeit very small ones have been mailed to that address. They cannot find any record of us calling to change the address, but they do have records of my calls expressing 'mucho unhappiness' with their email notification systems, and my comments about why would they change a mailing address without verification (a month later via snail mail is not 'verification' and hey - their email system is crud). An 'investigator' is supposed to call us today Dots - Sign

Dennis - glad you are ok. Be careful with the pup walks!

Mornin' boys.  Cloudy and 61 in the Potomac Highlands.  Chief is right, the weather doodles are besides themselves with the non-landfall from Dorian (ask the folks in the Bahamas...).

Had a great time with Don and Banksie up at Horseshoe Curve.  Kelly and I really enjoyed hearing about Don's adventures, and he told me all about his time at Knott's.  She liked all the La-La-Land stories, and I envy his "just do it" mindset.  I also placed in a request to Banks to come learn how to drive his tractor.  In total, we spent over 3 hours at the Curve, and NS didn't disappoint.  There was a steady, almost non-stop parade of freights going up and down the 3-track mainline.  The overturned freight cars, from the 2 separate derailments this summer, are still there, as NS simply dumped them over the outside of the curve.

Then, it was Wifey's turn, as I took her to Hobby Lobby like I promissed.  Then we dined at Outback, before heading south, down 220.  Kelly said that in honor of Don's trip, and the 10th anniversary of the CPI, it may be time for another round of train exchanges.  Have to give it some thought...

Hi guys, Another beautiful day on The North Bluff above Marseilles IL. Wish I had the gumption to do something. Tongue Tied
Been fighting all day with the health care system trying to get the wife some relief from her hip and back pain. Seems you may as well give up on any help from your primary provider and do it all yourself! So that is what we did. They never followed up on her apt with the hip doctor last month. Called the place and had to leave a message, because nobody will answer a phone these days. Later they called back and said they left a note for the primary provider so he could order a MRI but then said they can’t help her with her spine but can do her hip? Then the primary provider said that they never got any note??? So today I made some calls to where she went 9 years ago for some of the same issues and set her up to get in. They can work on both issues and are in the PPO system. Thanks for nothing from the primary provider doctor. WTH??? SoapBox
Prayers for all those in the path in front and behind the storm.  Angel
Dennis, watch out doing that dog walking. Don't let the dog walk you! Wink
 Best get.

Good Evening All!
Brent, Don't even be concerned, that time with the kids is so much more important!  Savor every second you can, while you have them.

Dougdg, Don't remember your fall in July, glad all the tests came back with good results!  Definitely be careful regarding those fractures!  Kay hasn't mentioned anything about any rain threats.  She was taking her Mom to Pala today, maybe I'll find out more later.  (Later, Kay wasn't aware of any flash flooding in her area, but did see some fire/smoke, but wasn't affected or delayed because  of it.)

Chief I was thinking about you today, probably working in the rain working on the Deer Stands.  Glad you got the steps and hand rails up!  Especially the hand rails!  That had to be a lot of work!  Good Job!

I've been hanging out at John Fullerton's the past couple of days.  He and his wife put out the red carpet!  Had a fantastic time!  Did all kinds of stuff, visited a goat farm/ranch, a fantastic Car Museum, took some time to relax, went to Hershey, met family member, saw his layout, and another.  He offered to take me to Strausburg, but I opted for the relax stuff.  Just  ANOTHER perfect visit.

Will be heading out in the am, going to go to Altoona Curve, AND hopefully hook up with Banks, and Fife!!  That will be GREAT, then on to Buckeye land.

I sure am glad I've done this trip!  I did have some last minute reservations, but it has been soooooo great seeing the guys I have been able to so far!  And would recommend it to everyone.

Better shut off and get some rest, tomorrow will be a busy day.

Take care all and be safe!

Ray, good to hear from you.

Hurricane.  Our weather guessers are having a hurricane dance.  They will be so disappointed if it does not hit and do damage.  No joke.

Box stands all have stairs now.  Talest have hand rails.

Tired.

Kinda of slow out here today in the Gay woods in goony land (as our daughter Katie called the place when we first got it) , but that is fine with me. We went and got lunch at KFC and then food at Krogers and just hung out the rest of the day. The weather was perfect!

I can't even think of what INS payments would be today on a car with 800hp???!!!!!!! INS payments are what drove me out of my Shelby GT350 in 1971. Angry

V8Vega

That 70 Baracuda that Keven Hart wrecked was a high dollar, proffesionally built, had the 700 HP Hellcat engine and trans. It's completely wrecked, I suppose the engine and trans are salvagable.

In actuallity, it was a DEMON engine, which is more powerful than the Hellcat....

This wasn’t just any ’Cuda, though. The car was built by SpeedKore, a company that’s setting the precedents for carbon-fiber-bodied muscle cars. In its original form, the ’Cuda was powered by a 6.4L HEMI and made 720 hp with the help of a 2.9L Whipple blower. The main course was the gratuitous carbon-fiber work that the shop is known for, along with HRE wheels, Baer Brakes, and a fully custom interior upholstery from Gabe’s Custom Upholstery. For his 40th birthday, the comedian/actor purchased the car for himself with a few changes; the 6.4 engine and the transmission were swapped out in favor of the heart from a Demon. SpeedKore had no official comment on the accident.

So figure it was past 800 HP........

Good Morning......

Spent the weekend in Delaware, got there Friday night.  Saturday, we went to Cecil County Dragway for a Pro Mod meet and left about 330.  Dinner at Volunteer Hose Co. in Middletown, DE, then back to the hotel for bench racing.  Sunday was Business meeting (I was elected to the board of directors.....lol), then to the Marshall Steam Museum, we rode a 1917 15 passenger Stanley, a Model T and a miniature F8 and a 4-8-4 Northern.  They had an mostly original Standard Gauge layout (nad when pressed, found out the motive power was MTH remakes Bang Head ) What a great time!!  Pizza and wings then hot tub, and more bench racing afterwards...... We checked out late Monday, breakfast at Bob Evans....and there were Buckeyes!!  Jenni bought some, she said they were great!!  We were blessed with GREAT Weather during the weekend and NO rain!!

Had pizza for dinner and wrapped up the night with Hocus Pocus (movie).

Got in to work at 0730 today from a trip to Philly to drop off the Princess.  Early mornings suck, especially with the idiots I have to deal with on the commute.  Ah, well, time spent with the Princess, it is well worth it.

The Jacksonville office has closed until tomorrow and the remote locations are trying to pick up the slack.  Did 15 yesterday in a 10.5 hour span.  Left at 6 PM, ran to the house, changed then to my meeting by 7.  Had dinner with Jenni at 830, then visited with the kids, got home and in bed by 11 PM.

I did contact my step son so he and his wife with pets could come up here.  I haven't heard from them, I'm guessing they are stayin put in Jacksonville.

Dad is still in pain, visits his oncologist today and the Radiologist on Friday.  Thanks for the continued prayers.

Looks like a nice day here, showers and thunder storms later as the atmosphere gets more humid, temps in the mid 80s.
Friday is storm day as the guessers think the hurricane will be within 200 miles of the coast, minor flooding, etc expected.

There is a small possibility that I'll be in the York/Lancaster/Strassburg area about the same time as the TCA meet.  But that is a month plus off....

Mornin' Fellas

Don - sorry I missed your email till yesterday. Sad Monday would have been tough since we took the kids to Tysons Corner Mall. Christina wanted to go to American Girl and Matthew wanted to go to Lego... so we spent a few hours doing kids' stuff. It was a blast! Christina took her American Girl dolls, got them each a new outfit for school and had one of their hair done. Matthew picked out two new Lego sets for us to build together (he finds the pieces and I help him assemble), he should be able to build one by himself soon. I wanted the new Millennium Falcon set, but was told 'NO!'. Laugh

House has gutters, they have finished the trim moldings, fixed the ceiling in the kitchen from moving the hood vent pipe, patched holes in the drywall, and painted again. We talked with the sales lady yesterday and received an update on our list of issues... only 26 days to go.

Hello there,
Been lurking,

Wednesday Mrs and I made 12 quarts of tomato soup.

Thursday she and daughter  made 29 pints of salsa.

Friday was appointment, errand day.

Spent the day Saturday farming, ended up  with 100 bales of nice 3rd cutting alfalfa. Hoped for more but lacked rain. Seems to be the pattern last few years. Wet start to summer and dry end.

Spent Sunday with daughters family. Big picnic at the seasonal campground they recently joined.

Spent most of Labor Day husking and brushing +/- 18 dozen sweet corn. Put it in the fridge to cut off and freeze tomorrow.

Ordered York badges yesterday, who's coming? Have reservations at the beach the 8th to 15th.   York on the way home.

Best go, working on grandsons dirt bike.

Don......give me a call if you want to get together

Prayers for those in need.

Morning.  Guessers still guessing the hurricane will skirt NC coast.  Off tomorrow to Edgecombe to strap down camper just in case.  Spray grass that suddenly jumped up around camper and barn.  Move a big metal stand 3 feet and build stairs.

Have a good one.

Mornin' boys.  Foggy and 62 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Well, youngest princess back at college, after a fun shopping trip in Hagerstown.  Wifey got some new threads, and Fifey picked up some floral "trees" from Michael's.  Middle princess was our chauffer, so I got to enjoy the scenery for a change, and some beer at Red Robin *yum.

Will be keeping tabs on Fifepup all day, who is west of Orlando.

Yep, made it to Eastern PA, don't think I will EVER complain about LA traffic again.  Can't believe 95, and it wasn't even a work day.    Well lets see Don,  We have a hurricane coming up a lot of those folks tail end and it is also Labor Day, another very busy day, With the first group hurricane runners you have the nut cases, To this day I can not see how dragging a boat with you on your way from a hurricane. Camping type trailor yes it may be where you pland to sleep when you get far enough away from the storm. But you will see these, that think they must pull there boat along, and normally you will see/hear of at least a dozen the had boats where in or caused and accident. It's like they forget the put that on the back of the car and try and make a quick manuver they do if the boat wasn't there.

The new phone is responding as I expected, DIFFICULT.  There probably be an age limit on buying cell phones.  Anyone over 55 should have to have had a learners permit first, and take a test, including a finger pad deterity test.  The touch screen on this new is so sensitive that if I squint when looking at it, it goes dark.  After restarting it after each interchange,  and turning that microphone thingy on and threatening to get the maps out it did get better.  Except for that girl reading the directions, she would leave when I stopped to get gas, and sometimes not come back!  I did manage to get to John's house though!

Thanks Chief for the great time, I really enjoyed the farm, and tobacco processing tours, and seeing your childhood digs. Larry was really fun to meet.  All them folks really make you feel at home!  Sorry about all the running around for batteries, phones, and fan belts!  You really saved my bacon!

What a fun trip!  (My wife told me to be on the watch for the "Northern Lights"Geeked

Take care all, and be safe!

He is on his way North [poor guy].  Had a great time.  He got an education on farming and the Civil War.  Always good to see Don.

Now we had a great honor.  Mr. Bob Keller started the Pot.  Wow.  Good to see Bob on here.  He has been a  great supporter of the POT.

Goofing off as Don is gone.  Enjoyed the visit.

Have a great September.

Happy Labor Day to all the laborers - SSA and I thank you!

Got the oil changed in the wave runners. Missus finished restaining the deck/deck stairs railings. Finished painting the basement window shutter/rock guard, it is ready to install today. Need to cut one last basement window shutter/rock guard. Will take the wave runners for gas at the marina, a short run, and then pull them out for the winter - add fuel stabilizer and blow them out.

RT - good progress!

DonB - you and tha Chief reclinerizing? Now you know he falls asleep watching video replays of his city council meetings.

Phish - glad the MIL was not seriously injured.

Regards, Roy

Good evening from wet 70°F Southern Ohio

It has been nice and just started raining.  After Masses I continued cleaning the siding in preparation for re-staining.  I hope to get a lot done Monday when I’m off for Labor Day.

My bride’s mom fell last night and so Mary was with her mom all day.  Praise God no broken bones or cuts.  She has more lives than a cat.

It is hard to believe the car exchange was 10 years ago.  A lot has happened in the last 10 years.  I have my laminated card proudly displayed on the shelf in the train room.

Bob – Thank you for starting the pot.

Don – Seriously you’ve got a bed and a meal or two in Southern Ohio if you are this way.

Good night and may God bless you and your families

Jim

Wow a guest "Starter",  I feel somewhat responsible was sittin in the same room with the "Chief" while he was reclinerizing, and just didn't think it would be safe to wake him.

Been busy here, got the oil changed in the El Camino, (BTW Dennis, the vehicle now has 260k, the engine has 70k.)  Visited Bentonville Battleground, the last battle of the Civil War.  Then ended up going to Verizon had toget a NEW cell phone, UGH!  Learning Curve!  Then we had to go to the parts house and pick up a fan belt.  (I triple checked them and the ALT belt wasn't broke but worn more than I liked).  Replaced the belt, then went to Will Allen's and saw his layout,  he has been featured in CCT and OGR.

Also,  Frank took me out to see his farm,  lots of peanuts, and soy and some tobacco.  Then on to a tobacco processing faciltiy, absolutely amazing.  Then spent time in the train box.

Tomorrow going to head north to John's place. And it might be a good time to leave NC, the hospitality and food has been great.

This certainly has been a fun adventure!!!

So till next time....... be safe

Don

Good evening all,

Did nothing Saturday except go to Mass.  Thanks Bob for starting thread.  Mowed yard with small mower in hour and a half.  Watched Portland Indycar race and was pleasantly surprised!  Mattheus was P8 from P21 and TK was P12 from P19.  Helped that a third of field crashed out in first few laps but the 4 car was on fire toward the end.  Bad news is that ABC Supply will not be back next year as sponsor.   Weather was warm today.  I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning all, figure I'd get on the first page while I could.

Haven't worked on the layout persay as I'm putting clear coat on a door at present. But I'am getting a lot  of my trains from the house to the train room, ( would be so much easier if the door was already in, but I needed to make some room. ) I have what I could on shelves that are up and in place. I'm thinking of doing away with the one window in there so I can have more shelf space. I'm losing about 42" per shelf with the window in my way. I would build it up to where I could put a piece of the brick paneling in that area and have 2 x 4's running so I would have something to be able to screw on to, for the shelves. That would give me about six or seven 16' shelves that way, and I'm thinking of extending the shelves on the other wall to 16', five of them are about 12' -13' right now. then I have another three at present which are 8' at present.

Happy September folks!

A pleasant 68 right now and headed to low 90's.

Finished paint on the rebuilt basement window. Built a 2'x4' shutter/Rock shield for the window and a coat of paint on the back. Got deck and deck stairs handrails sanded and the missus is restaining. Second coat today. Gotta change the oil in the waverunners today and get them ready to pull off the dock and storage for the winter.

Kev - uh Jan, I will be washing socks, but thanks for the invite! Send some video!
