Mornin' boys.  Rain and 68 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  The bear visited again last night; trail cam snapped some good pics of "George."  Now wifey wants to get a nice frame and put it with the children's senior portraits...

The youngest princess's bf visited her yesterday, at her dorm.  On the way home, a bambi reconfigured the front end of his Jeep.  He's fine.  Jeep, not so much.

Making homemade trees, out of dried sedum and foam.  Look good from above.  Also trying to rough in a river, using gloss medium over latex paint.  Needs work.

And to our triscadecaphobians on the Coffee Pot, hang in there.  Only 13 hours left.  Oooo, sorry.

Morning folks!

Cloudy and a light breeze from north. A weak cool front is approaching. Rain to the west but not expected to make it here.

SJ - the Clown will be out!

Prep in process here for a wedding shower hosted by my daughters friends, but at our house. Pool party. Expecting 40+. We have been scouting/borrowing chairs, pop-ups, etc., from friends. Wife said they said my wife and I will not have to do anything. Everything will be just as it was prior. My comment is my wife missed an opportunity - I think it should be better/cleaner, and maybe paint the living room before they check out!

Good evening all,

Better than expected day at work.  Still warm.  Watched "my" soccer girls lose a very winnable match 4-0.  Unable to finish on our offensve end + 4 breakaways for the other side = 1 loss that does not reflect the way it was played.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Hello there,

thanks again for the birthday wishes.

Yesterday Mrs and I traveled to Amish country in Bellville Pa. No pullets but we did get a few flea market treasures, some baked goods and bargains at the country store.

Appointments today, 1 more tomorrow

My York badges came in yesterday's mail. Anyone else coming???

I did see the October 2019 meet notice had April of 20 at 3 days.

Bought tickets this evening to see the Oak Ridge Boys  Christmas Show at the Palace Theatre in Greensburg PA on December 6th, about 1.5 hours if there's no blizzard.

Found out today son's job was abolished at NS's Juniata shops. He'll be able to bump but shift and off days are in question.

Don......continued safe travels. Glad to hear Jonadel is well, wish he'd come back to us.

Eyes are heavy .

Prayers for those in need

Good evening,

Well we spent an hour at Grandparent’s day this morning at Jordan’s 1st grade class in school.
Was fun and better than last year’s at Lexi’s 3rd grade class. I guess they made some adjustments because this was the second year at it. By the time we left the classroom and went to the gym, the kids had, had enough of us old folks and started just having fun. That is fine, as it should be and by then we were wore out from having to walk from one end of the school to the other twice. As we left the kids went back to class and the grandparents ran out the school door like rats out of a burning building.  Laugh

Mornin' Fellas

Just a quick drive-by post.

Have a lot going on now with the pending move, lots and lots of scheduling, trying to figure out the 'best' truck to rent. Penske's 26ft trucks are loading dock height and with a long ramp that is going to be a lot of leg work. UHaul's 26 ft trucks are 18 inches off the ground... much easier. Problem is I can schedule a Penske truck for 4 days, UHaul I can get for 1. UGH

Don - sorry I missed you on your trip through MD. Sure would have been nice to see you again. The new house stuff sucked all our time Labor Day weekend, and Labor Day we treated the kids to a trip to Tyson's Corner, VA. Christina got to go to The American Girl Doll Store and Matthew The Lego Store. LOL

TheQ leaves for South Africa tomorrow she'll be gone for a week. The following Monday we have to check-list walkthrough, and close on the house Sept 30. 18 days to go!

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & hot along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Company picnic was yesterday, and got my fill of fried chicken.  Then drove to one of my former squad buddy's ranch, in Old Town.  He bought himself a 50 acre spread, and is fixing it up for his retirement place.  He's a big "project" guy, and my Mrs. has big "plans" for him...

dbaker - keep on truckin'...  I sure do miss jonadel.

Good evening all,

Don, good to hear about your trip.  If not for daughter's wedding, would have had stop by, but I am glad you stopped at IMS.  Good day at work.  Weather warm.  Basically took it easy tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening all!

Mid-90's but hoomid. So not as pleasant as the last few days. After I repaired two sprinklers yesterday, the system ran last night. This morning I noticed a lot of water in the street. ARGH. Another zone had a busted head at the street curb, right by the water meter housing, so water meter housing full of water. This head and another in the same zone have been problematic ever since some jerk (we live on the end of a circular) ran a big truck over the lawns (too lazy to back up a bit to complete the turn around) a few years ago and crushed my water meter housing and sank these two sprinkler heads about 6 in, plus leaving a long wheel trench). So pipes that are 12 in down are ok, but out of kilter. So dug another trench, wallowing in mud, to move this head to the center of the lawn strip between the sidewalk and curb. With the requisite trip to lowes this took most of the morning and afternoon.

DonB - Thumbs Up on the trip!

Good Morning, (Try this again, earlier post didn't make it.)

9/11 - Sombering Day!  Prayers for all those who lost their lives, and their families!

Happy Birthday Banks!

The past two days were super!  Stopped in and visited Kev, what a fantastic place he has.  Got a ride in his new Gator, which was great!  My first time, he has a beautiful clean and neat 4 car garage with lots of great toys, he feels they are just tools.  Sure looks like toys to me, but I know he is right.  He toured me around, and Ill being my home state, I really enjoyed it!  Brought back many great memories.  Love his layout, really is very well done!!

Then yesterday I stopped in at Jon Englehardts place.  Another very beautiful house, and great host.  We had a lot of great conversation, and his layout (which was featured in CTT, Dec 2011), is a masterpiece!  Was another fantastic start for a great day.  Enjoyed the drive across Iowa, and Nebraska lots and lots of territory, simply awesome!

Woke up this morning in North Platte Nebraska.  Going out today to view the "Golden Spike Tower", will see the biggest classification yard in the world.  From the tower I'm sure it will look like a layout.

This trip has been beyond ANY expectation I ever had!!!!  The only downside is not being able to see the folks I haven't, but my schedule has been tight, (due to upcoming Dr appts).  My apologies to those I didn't get too, SubM Bob, Doug M, the NJ gang, all the guys in Michigan, Mike C, Jim in Southern Ohio, and so many more!  I would definitely recommend this to everyone!!!!

Some of you may know about this, I had reviewed my directions with Buckeye prior to leaving his place, it looked really good.  After I left, I stopped and got gas before setting out, decided to call Kay.  She asked if I was going to be going thru Indianapolis, and I said "No, I would be north of there."  She commented, "You've always wanted to see the Brickyard, go for it."  So I did, thought maybe I would get a tour.  Got to Indy, no tour!  THEIR HAVING A NASCAR RACE!!!!  So after 5 secs of thought the El Camino headed to the Brickyard, as I approached the track I saw the fly-over.  Of course no difficulty with a ticket, and there I was at the 1st curve!  What a "Bucket Item", Nascar at the Brickyard!  And it was a great race as well.

When I leave N. Platte, I'm heading to Golden, CO, to see the Train Museum, their emphasis is on the Denver, Rio Grande.  Now what that is going to make this really fun, is that the guy that was in the engine with me when I fell, works there!  He is the Curator of Railcars & Equipment.  We haven't talked in awhile, and he is a good guy, so it will be definitely be fun.

Then homeward bound, I expect to be home either Saturday or Sunday.

Seeing all you guys has been a wonderful experience!!  And the trip around our beautiful country is so inspiring!!  These memories will last me forever!

Take care all!  And be SAFE!

Don

Roy, It was a great time for me and hope for both of us. Hope I get a good grade from Don on my report card. Laugh  The weather was great, today not so much, hot and you can stop sending that gulf moisture up this way,. Wink

Got things to do but hate the hot.

Not sure if it was Chip or Dale. Smile, Wink & Grin But I hope they are glad I let it out.

Afternoon folks!

Hit 94 today with a few clouds. Not so bad.

Picked up sprinkler parts and a new attic fan motor at Lowes yesterday. Found out I had two broken sprinkler heads and risers in the same zone. Zone is fed with a 3/4" line so for 20 min it was pumpin some water ineffectively. Got both heads and riser pipes replaced. One broken head has been nailed by the lawn guy 3 times this year. So while it was a still a cool 88 degrees I dug a short trench and moved the head 18" to get it right next to a rise on the front walk. Now it is in a better spot to avoid being stepped on. Need sons help on the roof for attic fan motor replacement. I will work from the inside. Planning this for Friday morning while it is still cool and he has no classes on Fridays.

Kev - glad DonB was able to visit! Was it Chip or Dale?

Everyone is hiding?

So, I am working in the shed today and I keep hearing something banging and scratching around in the wall between the hot and cold side of the shed. I start to try to make sure where it is and it seems to be in the wall inside not on the outside wall. Whatever it is it is going nuts so I figure it must of got in and can’t get out, what to do?? I decide to measure out how far down the back of the shed wall that spot is and I pull 4 bottom nails out of the shed siding, pry it out a few inches and sure as heck out comes a stupid Chipmunk??? Only here.  Laugh

Good evening all,

A good day.  Got crown put in with little issue.  Mowed south 40 and fenced in yard.  Front part had not grown at all.  Paid hospital bill and got 10% off for prompt payment.  Neighbor working on mowers got old John Deere 21 in running again.  All it needs is a new fuel tank and I can get rid of 30 inch Toro.  Weather nice as well.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Another nice day on the North Bluff above Marseilles. Tomorrow the heat will come in for about 3 days so the AC is going tonight.

Well Shake & Bake AKA Don Baker,,,showed up this morning about 9:30 and we did the nickle tour of the place here and around the area, went and got lunch then ran trains. Then he headed west.    It was a nice conversation and visit. Glad he came by as he was driving I80 across north central IL. Yes

BTW Don, I don't want you to not sleep tonight,,,,,,,,I fixed that Berk's gears. All I had to do was remove the shell and put them in the right place! Wink

Morning folks!

Nice breeze this morning. 78 headed to 96 with nice breezes all day. It will be cooling down at night now. Found a broken sprinkler and pipe in the front yard last night. May explain last months 'higher' water bill. Also have an attic power exhaust fan making noise. Looks like a trip to Lowes is on my upcoming agenda.

Good to hear Don took the dive into the crowd for the Brickyard 400 today. I bet he had a good time. Heck where he is from, bet it looked like a smal crowd. Laugh
