Well, HEY!!

Looks like I might have pi$$ed off someone at CTT.  I couln't log in for a week, so if I missed someone, I apologize.  I can't remeber everything.....

Brent - Sorry about your aunt and prayers for your family.  Good luck on the house in P-burg....

Fife - Good Job on the WMSR - so much for retirement...lol!!!

I have a train table!!, Well, technically 2 and the 3rd one will be up on Saturday, once I cut and fit it to the ping pong table.  Hope to be laying track in the next 2 weeks, I'll be away from home Monday to Wednesday night next week.

Gotta run, work has exploded and business is good, which makes me busier than I have been.  Celebrating 1 year at the new job, so future looks bright, for a change.

Some kinda storm coming here, rain, freezing rain and snow, in no particular order from Friday to Monday, which, as Marty commented, all the idiots will be out in force....ugh...

Good Afternoon from drizzly 34°F Southern Ohio, Gentlemen, thank you for all the input on the chipper. I am now leaning more to just burning it little at a time. Maybe get some of it burnt this coming Friday or Saturday. Kev - the link you sent is the one I was looking at. Yes, very pricey. The picture is impressive! Brent - the local rental place where I rented the stump grinder last year, has chippers for $115 for half a day. May God bless Jim

Afternoon from gray overcast N Texess...

Knocked off early today. Second truck loaded. Two more days and the Trains at Northpark tear down will be done.

Anj - great to hear the job is going well after a year. Train tables Thumbs Up

I could have used the chipper Kev recommended but I am down to one small live oak at my place. And no leaves in the pool!

Todays Train news was good!

I have been wanting to try the Lionel LionChief Plus since introduction. My main reason is the feature that they will pull a grade and keep a constant speed. Up till today all of my trains are conventional units run from one of two Lionel ZW transformers.
Out of the box it looks very nice and has good weight. Pleased.
On the track, Sounds work well and were to loud for me so the feature you can adjust the volume with the remote was one of the first things I did. It was an easy process to do and I have them where I like it. I do wish the horn was louder and the engine revving not so loud but it will do.
Remote operations, lights, horn, bell, crew talk and couplers worked as advertised.
On the track it has a nice easy start up and runs smooth with engine revving following the speed well.
Speed control runs it up well but for me it should have more levels. It seems to be too slow or too fast for my liking but not beyond living with.
Smoke output is great and gives life to the movement.
After three laps around the track on the flat it was time to check the speed up the grade?? Perfect. I am very happy.
Attached is a short video of the first run.

Evening all!  ( Bon soir Roy!)

Brrr.... It feels like winter!

Kev - Nice review. I commented on your other post. Thanks for the Tier 4 update. I too am waiting for nearly year old Lionel orders. My Autoracks won't be in until the end of March!

Marty/Rich - I guess I was on the naughty list too. I was locked out for a week or so last week. Still can't log on with my phone using the same password!!!

Brent - I'm taking stock of my household projects too. I actually did a room by room list of what needs to be completed and basically "triaged" by priority. My problem is I get these projects to 75-80% and then start something else! I'm going to buckle down and get them to 100%.

Have a good one and prayers,

Rob

Kevin nice review of the Lionchief+ engine.

Robmcc I have also come to the conclusion to finsh a project before starting another. But I have them broken into three catagories. 1 this house, 2 the other house ( when I can get over there. ) and 3 leave some train time and work on the temp layout for now.

I leave train time if it's just sitting here and looking at them on the shelf, or rearranging them.

Went to the other house today ( unscheduled ) as I had a package coming there that I forgot to update my address with. ( that got corrected real quick last night but still had to go to receive at old address)

Otherwise not much going on here today. Received a NYC PB-1 missing one screw to hold truck on. has everything else. Got it for a great price considering what I see them selling for on Ebay. Got this off of TRAINZ auction site. Ended up paying about 1/2 of what I have been seeing the PB-1 selling for, as this has the rail sounds in it. The engine only had horn and bell.

Talk to you all later

Good evening all,

Another long day at work.  This is getting old.  So is this weather.  Commute into work was bad as well.  Did walk outside today at noon.   Did nothing tonight at home.  Too tired.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Well the weather guessers are still trying to figure out our snow totals.  I'd be happy with less.

No train activity yesterday.

The LC+ engines seem to be some of Lionel's best lately.  The small Berks seem to be a really big hit.  Enjoy!

Stay safe all.

Good Morning!  About to sit in on a conference call for work.

Yesterday was eventful: got my performance bonus for work, and with part of it got tickets for wife, daughter and I to see The Who in May, and ordered the BNSF Scout Freight set from Trainworld!

I put the rest in savings, partly to get it out of sight, but also to start saving for our next trip to Walt Disney World in a couple years!

Mornin' Fellas

Talked with TheVPQ last night... looks like she'll be flying with the storm today. She should make it to Chicago, not so sure about the Chicago to BWI leg! Keeping fingers crossed. Have the MBR, Master Bath, and hallway walls patched and ready for paint. Hope to get that done tonight. If I can I hope to get started on the sunroom ceiling and walls. Plan is to have all this done by Sunday and hopefully get started painting the main basement ceiling. That will leave the trainroom for after it is emptied into a storage unit.

Our realtor told us back in October to turn our heatpump fan to ON instead of AUTO to help 'regulate' the temperature in the house and to help eliminate the stagnant air smell in the basement... all was well till I got the electric bill for Dec! Seems in the winter it pulls the 54 degree air from the basement up to the main levels... not sure that is a wise thing to do. Anyhow, I like being able to hear when the heatpump turns on and off... the blower fan is quite loud... lol. Really looking forward to moving into the new house...

Anj - Thumbs Up on the train table(s) and the job.

Kev - thanks for sharing the video and making me yearn for days to come. Wink

Chief - LOL @ Software... it sure is a joy!

Brent our heating/cooling man told us the same thing and it makes sense however I've gotten too old to be laying on a basement floor replacing a furnace blower.

Happy Thursday......

Busy at work, did 17 scans in 9.5 hours, and it's going to get busier, and that is a good thing.  Just wish it was closer to home.  Overtime is a great thing.

Kev - good on the LC/LC+, did comment on the other thread, really enjoy my 3 and soon to be 4 LC/LC+ engines and sets!!

MartyE! New avatar - looking good!!

Saturday's projects are:

1) To get the layout board from the FD, disassemble the Fastrack, cut to fit between the ping pong table and the Northern leg of the layout and install it.

2) Install the 1 (yes, 1) panel of insulation and secure it (I FINALLY got the correct length wire retainers) as all my studs are 24" give or take on center.

3) Set up the Fastrack and see what fits and what doesn't....really want to have O48 curves on the outer main.  O36 on the inner.  And maybe figure out if I have nought Atlas O instead of Fastrack (Using the Fastrack turnouts.....).

Back at it, had time to post, scanning a Pruis at the moment and they are slow as $h!t.....hate those cars.....lol

Later.....................

Oh, yeah, something about a now MAJOR snow storm Satruday night, I'll be at my installation dinner for the fire department with open bar, so, yeah, I'll be, otherwise involved.....lol

Hola! Que tal? (Rob Thumbs Up)

Partly sunny and almost 60. Very nice out right now. Deep freeze still on for Sat.

Knocked off early again. Everything ready for the loadout into the 3rd semi trailer tomorrow morning. Start at 6 am and should complete by 9:30. Some additional items to load into the company 24' bobtail and we will be done before noon.

My new next door neighbor has a big project going in their backyard. Previous owners let the raised garden beds overgrow to the point of no return. Workers have been back there with a large bobcat and stump grinder for 2 days now. Removing the raised beds and associated stone retaining walls completely. What a rootbound mess! Glad they are doing something about it. They also drained the pool and I suspect it also needs major repair. The previous owner and the new owner let the pump run dry several times and also let the pool/spa heater rot out. Expensive.

Good evening all,

Another busy day at work.  My brain pulled a muscle thinking too hard today.  Weather allowed me to make it to work.  Had to walk inside.  Did a few things at home tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Hello there,

1st offWelcome to RoyalBlue. Tell us about yourself.

1 to 3 inches Snohio tonight. 3 to 36 inches Saturday into Sunday. All depends on where the rain snow line falls.

Yesterday finally got 7 ton of coal delivered. Ended up dragging the truck out of the yard with the tractor. Ground   was frozen but just smeary enough on top for him to spin.

While I was dealing with the coal guy son started to haul manure. On the 2nd load he turned a bit to sharp and caught the tire chain on the tongue bending it pretty bad. Without the chains a rub on the tongue is no problem. So we switched to plan B. Hauling it up the hill in the dump trailer to be spread later. 2 out of 3 loads  he needed a pull to get out.   On top of that a hydraulic line on the bobcat  got out of place ripping a headlight off and making an overall mess.. Not a good day.

Today I got the Christmas lights off the gutter and in the house. One more thing needs to come down and the only thing remaining is the tree and the rest of the inside stuff.

Also spent a couple of hours rearranging equipment to get to the snow plow for the big tractor. It wasn't on last winter and maybe not the year before.   Probably put it on tomorrow

Dozing here. Later

Prayers for those in need

Snow guessers are still at it.  Anywhere from 3-12.  LOL  Thats a pretty good guess.

Looks like some hobby shop leaked the Lionel catalog early.  Someone posted it on youtube.  Maybe Lionel needs a better distribution plan so the cats not out of the bag early.  From what I saw BiPolars are big.

Stay safe over the weekend!

Just returned from a week in Arizona where we had beautiful sunshine. Interesting to see the long container trains in southern Arizona, but the real gem was the Copper Basin Railway. To model this railroad all you would need is a big hole in the ground and some delapidated buildings.

Ohio Snow Cannon will be tested this Saturday. It has not been calibrated since Chuck's passing. Look out!

Morning.  Mild 41 and fairing off from over night shower.  Suppose to be warm and pretty today.

Wifey should be landing in NY about now.  Suppose to get out of there before the storms starts tomorrow afternoon.  Free flight left from being snowed in last year this time.

Buckeye, snow cannon aimed straight up for you.  You are in for it.

Goofing off today.

Later.

Happy Friday.....

Marty - I TRIED to watch that video, um, yeah...omg so unwatchable.....

Looks like snow-ma-geddon here, same as everyone else - 0-12" of snow/rain/ice/fridgid temps on Monday....and if I get 1 word wrong I get told.....I shoulda been a weather guy....lol.  Got 2 inches of snow here and south Jersey and most of it's gone because of the rain.  Been spritzing most of the morning.

Princess will be off and running to King of Prussia for work next week.  Training at a larger store will be better for her career in the long run.  This is per her area manager.  She's already an assistant Woman's Accessory manager.

Will attempt a hair cut again tonight, blew off drill for some "personal" matters and to prep the Princess for her trip.  She leaves early Monday.  My FD installation dinner is tomorrow at 6 and will attempt to get as much train layout time in as possible.

That's all from here, will chek back later

Has been cloudy here for more than a week.  Temps have been ranging from the high 20's to about 40, so the foot of snow we got last weekend has melted down to 4 to 6 inches now.  Weather guessers say rain starts today, then turns to snow sometime this evening.  2 to 6 inches of the stuff are expected with a high in the teens tomorrow.

I decided not to renew the consulting contract with the company I had last fall, so I'm all the way retired now.  That is one more plug pulled out of the community in our preperations to move sometime next year.

All for now.

First day without rain, so far, this week.  Hope it's over.  I have things to do outside.  We got about 5 inches of rain out of this last one yesterday.

TGIF!  It's the calm before the snohizo.  Wifey and I ran to Lowe's for wood pellets and "her" shovel, and Martin's for some groceries and "her" chocolate cupcakes (snow shoveling fuel, I s'pose).  Been working from the "home" office this AM (some things just don't need my driving to office to achieve).

Well I had a long post ready and my palm accidentally brushed the touch pad and "boom" the entire thing was gone.

Finished the loading of the 3rd semi trailer today (6 to 10:30 am) so glad that is done.

Banks - did you see the note in the York flyer about interest in reopening the Yellow Hall for HO dealers and layouts? I know the Gold Hall is under the grandstands - wonder where the Yellow is located? You could contact them and express your interest in buying HO stuff in the Yellow Hall!

8n - congrats on cuttin' the cord!

Waiting on the deep freeze here later tonight - maybe some "snowhizo" flurries.

Regards, Roy

Put the plow on the Ranger and filled the gas tank but the guessers here are all over the map. I thinks it will most go north of us and maybe 3" to 5" at most then the sub-O temps for Sunday and Monday when we have the kids for MLK day.

The new LionChief Plus engine only needed about an hour of run time for Lionel's quality issues to rear their ugly head. Got a squeeling sound coming from the smoke unit. Any of you have that noisey smoke unit issue?  I thought it was part of the sound system at first but then I shut that off. And to add salt in the wound,,,Lionel has no problem leaving you on wait for hours trying to see about service help. They never did answer. Angry The people who sell it just tell you to contact Lionel. So sad-too bad! Sucker! Dunce Embarrassed

It is good to be un-plugged 8N. Yes

Afternoon all. Not much going on here today. Did get wife to do two boxes todayYes Hopefully two more tomorrow. I only have one left here in my room Bow Then maybe I can look at maybe starting a layout in here. First I'm just going to lay track and decide how I want it. It's hopefully only going to be a temp layout but a layout neverless that I can run some trains.

Not much else going on here. Hope all had a good day.

We ended up with my wife's parents house a little north and east of Grand Rapids, Mi., so our plan is to summer there.  We've got some property a little north and west of Bowling Green, Ky., so once we get something built, we plan  to winter there.

Weather reports here are calling forrain tonight, turning to snow tomorrow. Somewhere between 2" and 6" is expected.  The school district has canceled all school activities tomorrow.  This means we loose another Saturday build day for the robotics team.  We were hoping to recover from last week's cancelation tomorrow.  We will end up farther behind now.

On the other hand, this will be a real life lession for the kids about unexpected problems and due dates that don't change.

All for now.

Good evening all,

Another long day at work.  Good thing there is a 3 day weekend.  Picked up IRS forms at library today.  Preliminary calculations are for a substantial fed refund.  Went to a special church program tonight.  Stayed awake for most of it.  Weather could be "interesting" Saturday.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,
