Morning.  Everyone slept till 9.  Still raining [lightly].  Guessers say through Tuesday.  Hope not.  Folks south of us are in bad way.  Now the flooding starts.  I95 and I40 closed over long stretches.

All OK for us.  Went to Red Robin last night.  Lots of folks out and about here.

Thanks for the concerns.

Have a good week ahead.

Morning folks!

90 and hoomid. Some clouds. Prayers for thos affected by Flo Angel

Bought a couple of HP Win10 PCs yesterday for my son and I. Had some difficulty getting Norton Security on one of them (mine). Had to get Norton to resolve it. All this software is so bloated things like Win10 and Norton do not play well together. Gonna see if I can get my Office 2003 to load on the Win10 machine. As a heavy duty techincal user of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, inc embedding Excel & PPT charts into Word and drawings created in Word, Office went downhill after 2003 version and tanked with the 2010 version....

Haven't wander out yet, but it seems like the worst is over for us. Some light rain and mild wind and that is all. Never did lose power ( which was good ) but it was expected, so we made out good.

Hope all have a good Sunday and will talk some more later

Good morning,

Yesterday's visit from the son's side got called off on the kids showing up. The granddaughter had to go to the stable and ride a special horse at 10:00 to see if she liked it. The horse she rids now is not good enough to get to the next level of compition so they are looking at others.  So we went to my uncles for more stuff.

Ended up with these.

Four more RTR sets today and two plasticville houses.

Good evening all,

Got lots done today.  Trimmed and edged.  New trimmer works great.  Painted bare spots on barn door.  Used electric hedger to trim back evergreen from street.  Listened to Sonoma today.  Hunter-Reay won race, Dixon is champ, and Foyt team did lousy again.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good  Evening,

Flo still seems to have the upper hand, glad to hear Chief and RT are doing well.  Hope the folks in Wilmington get thru this with minimal issues.  Now all the potential flooding is on its way, then on to Ohio Valley and New England.  Will be great when its all over!

PLEASE DONT THINK I'M MAKING A POLITICAL STATEMENT, I JUST COULDN'T HELP BUT TO SHARE THE HILARITY OF THE FOLLOWING SCENERIO...

Now some folks think that all us in California are a little nuts.  I learned this week-end that the insightful leadership of our state has developed another secretive scheme to benefit us all.  Our Governor, the Honarable Jerry Brown, (aka "Moonbeam", nickname from the 70's/80's from his girl friend Linda Rondstandt).  Has DECIDED that California will fund our OWN satellite, to survey the glaciers and ice volumes of the North and South poles.  So now I guess Calif has taken ownership of "Global Warming".  I thought that Brown was positioning himself to run for President, but I was wrong he already thinks he is.  I don't mean this to be political, but I think its hilarious.  How does the saying go, The Crazies are in Charge of the Nut House. :)

Morning all.

I hope everyone is doing well after the weekend storms in the south.  Stay safe!

Closed up the pool yestreday so summer is over for me.  I'll finish off some outside projects now and get ready for the fall.

Splurged on a tinplate offering this weekend.  I'm a sucker for the Orange and Blue paint scheme which will be unavaialbale after the license runs out so I ordered this one.

Getting some rain from Flo today.  Not nearly as much as yinz guys down south.  Again stay safe!

Mornin' Fellas

Glad Chief, RT, and Fifepup are safe!

Got back from Pittsburgh around 10:30pm last night. Got the cracks filled and fairly smooth, got the lower railings painted (they look awesome), and got half the chipping paint scrapped off and that area painted and 3 of 8 posts painted. Very tired. Renter is now interested in buying again... gave her till next Friday to get that sorted out. A couple of her uncles are going to finish the scrapping and painting and putting the sealer paint on the floor. Contractor coming this week to replace the porch railing and stair railings. All work is to be done by next Friday... praying I do not have to go back up the weekend of 29/30 to finish.

Morning.  Storm in VA now.  West of us got hammered during last night and this AM.  Sun came out off and on this AM.  Wilmington still cut off by land due to flooded highways.  I 95 and I 40 have portions flooded.  South of us bad and some still hadn't recovered from Matthew.  Sad.

Good Afternoon......

Late posting, busy today, which is cool.....keeps me in the money!!!

Parents house in Oriental got close to 3 FEET of water according to the neighbors, so Mom and Dad will be heading down Wednesday after Dad's doc appointment.  As of now, there is no power, some of the poles are on the ground, so I'll be taking care of the ferals.  Not sure where they are going to stay once they get there, but they are going.....insurance docs in hand for sure.

Also did see where Macclesfield Fire Dept. lost their house.  Already the fire departments across the country are sending replacements, one department in New Jersey is donating a fire truck.

Thursday and Friday were windy and drizzley, but Saturday and Sunday were spectacular days, a bit windy but bright and sunny.  Took advantage after convention, sat in and by the pool, cocktails in hand, enjoying the brother/sisterhood.  Dinner on the intercoastal, then top down back to the motel for more cocktails and  fellowship.

Left way late on Sunday, about 4 PM got home by 6.  Top down all the way.  Stopped for a coffee at the Wawa on the way, lots of lookers and talkers, nice people, all had nice things to say about the car and all.  Was a nice way to cruise on home.

Laundry was done at 10, sleeping by 11, of course, the alarm did not go off as planned and was later than normal, topped off by a "NEW" way to punch in and was fraught with issues, so much so, there was an on line chat open to address the issues.  Spent 25 minutes on that......go figure....

Glad the RT and Chief are damp but not soaked absolutely happy about this.

So now we pay for the 2 days of great weather (after 8 days of rain and clouds) with 5 more days of rain and clouds....and it's raining now.

Did pick up my Pabst Blue Ribbon in Wildwood car from Larry at Holly Beach.  Had a nice talk with him.  Also picked up a couple of crossing gates for $20 (used).

No lunch today, blew right through and I'm outta here shortly.  Another hour of overtime in the books......helps paying the bills.....

Back soon....

Hello there,
Flo gave us another really rainy day.  Flood watch till tomorrow PM. Glad RT. da Chief & Fifepup made out OK.

Spent  a couple hours yesterday at the SOUTHERN  COVE POWER REUNION

https://m.facebook.com/SCPowerReunion?pn_ref=story

in  New Enterprise PA.  Lots of tractors,  threshing machines, stationary baler, silo filler and much more. For somee reason it won't insert a direct link

Got home midafternoon and spent a couple of more hours emptying *** spreader after son filled it. Then put the scoop on the tractor to clean out a ditch and move some dirt for landscaping.

Roy.....good luck with Office. I have a set of Office 98 that Win 7 wouldn't accept.  That machine is still letting me use the trial version of Office 2010. My 3 year old Toshiba laptop won't let me use Office. What little I do now I've been using Open Office. So far I've had no compatibility issues. I did have problems way back when. IT got the bright idea to give it to everyone and I was the guinea pig. It did OK with Word but Excel was a different story. The simple stuff was fine but on some of the bigger workbooks it scrambled the formulas all up. It was good every thing was backed up because I had to delete and reload everything.   I had the same problem with the latest version of Adobe Pro. It didn't play well with some of my stuff. I deleted it and reinstalled Adobe Pro 9

I think I forgot to mention I saw a twin to my Craftsman 6 inch lathe at the flea market a couple weeks ago.

Nothing against those of you who live there but California is for crazies

Aloha. Looks like a cooler day - fall has not yet fallen - it's been in the 90s for the past few weeks. Kev, those look like nice RTR sets.  Marty, I too love the orange and blue look - that's a nice train. Dennis, congrats on the new dog - dogs are the best - what name did you choose? Funny, it looks like I'm posting on page -3...

Good morning.

This has been one of the driest summers since we moved out here. In the last two days the trees have really started to turn and drop leaves here Doug.
Combines are running all over the place. Winter is on the way.

Heck of a harvest of acorns, walnuts and other stuff falling from the trees.

Good morning all,

Chief and RT, glad to hear you're OK with Florence.  My relatives in Eastern North Carolina are OK.  Niece at the farm in Maple Hill, not far from Jacksonville are still without power and using generators.  Main road is still flooded but they are safe.  Other niece still evacuated from the coast.

I got myself a brace for my left knee.  It at least makes it possible for me to walk without too much pain.  Went for blood test today.  Will see primary doc and orthopaedic Dr. Next week.  Still going for PT twice a week.  It helps some.

They are shutting down my power for the third time this summer on Thursday.  This is getting old.  Just got my electric bill for August.  Looks like the national debt.  It"s about the same as I used to pay on the mortgage when I had one.

Have a good day,

Ray

Hello there,

it rained off and on yesterday and last night but we  didn't get as much rain as predicted.

haven't heard from my cousin in Beaufort NC. Talked to him Wednesday evening and told him I'd wait to heat from him.

not much today other than a little house husband stuff. Tomorrow I've got a dentist appointment to have a tooth that's been bothering me checked out.  Later my 6 month follow up with cardio doc.

Best try to sleep.

$700?!?!?!  WOW!  I get mad when my electric bill is $150.

Looks like a few more warm days until the weekend cools off.  Been slugging around this week with little motivation for some reason.  Looks like my tinplate should be at the LHS on Saturday when I swing on in.

Take care gentlemen!  Stay cool, safe, and dry!

Morning.  Cooler [some] and less humidity.  Will do some cleanup today.  Meeting later today.  A few biglimbs but mainly trashy stuff.  Will mulch most of it.

Niece and Nephew headed back to Wilmington/Carolina Beach.  Her house has power.  Will go long around and about way to get there.  I 40 still closed.

During dry times and I irrigate.  Water bill goes about $35.  Normally in the teens.

Hope all have a good one.

A wee bit cloudy with 75 for the day. Yesterday afternoon it went to 90. Nothing new in my train world, I haven't run the trains in weeks except for a few minutes now and then to keep the tracks clean.

Hey,

SS payday,

Went to Kroger for our bi-monthly food gathering. LOL Packaged and packed the freezer with meat.

Made the truck payment, ordered a green wheel for the bench grinder so I can sharpen my stump grinder teeth.

Weather is low 80s today back into high 90s tomorrow and then 70s as far out as they show.

Our highest elect bill in two years was $129.34 for Jan and part of Feb of this year when I ran a milk house heater all month in the shed to keep the condensate line from freezing when it was sub-0. Water bills I don't have just the elect to run the well pump. But the well did cost almost 10K to install the well 12 years ago and 7K for the septic.. When we were in Plainfield on city water, water and sewer cost over $100 a month, included trash pick up. I would pump river water to do the lawn in the hot of summer with a gas trash pump. Elect was way more to because there it was Com-Ed. In the summer elect could be $250 easy, 12 years ago.
