Good evening all,

Slept in this morning.  Wife and I saw Indy 11 lose 1-0 on an own goal.  Did not close roof so no A/C.  It was warm.  Got home and watched Independence Day.  Ray, my condolences.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good morning, hope you all had a great 4th,

Most of the fireworks around here were canceled because of the thunderstorms yesterday evening. Two people in a town close by got hit by lighting and are in bad shape. One is three years old and the other is an adult. Two people up north got killed by a tree limb that fell on them and six others got hurt.

We got .4" of rain overnight and now it is 80 already heading to 90 with 98% humidity and dew point of 76. Grass is growing as you watch.

We were going to get the kids tonight but because they canceled the Joliet fireworks yesterday they are going to go tonight. So today should be quite and just laid back.

Best get to it.

Hello there,

been one of those weeks. Daughter had her 3rd surgery Monday, results Wednesday next week.

Monday midafternoon we got 2.5 inches of rain in less than an hour.  Needless to say that caused  some issues. Got about 6" of water in the basement. Came in faster than the floor drain could take it. Got high enough to make the washer not work again. Last time I unplugged it for a week and it worked OK. Ran fans for 2 days and made no progress. Today I closed the windows and put a 5000 BTU window shaker on 2 boards above the laundry sink. It filled a gallon jug in less than an hour. Made a noticeable difference in 4 hours.

Son had about 5 acres of hay ready to bale when the deluge hit. It was almost ready to bale on the 4th when the clouds opened again. Pretty much junk now.

Tuesday I replaced brakes on all 4 wheels and front rotors on the  car. Gotta change the oil tomorrow and it'll be ready to head to the beach Saturday.

Yesterday was a putz around day. Stormed a couple of times but cleared towards evening. Son and his family joined Mrs and I  for burgers and dogs. He had some simple fireworks and put them off for the kids. A neighbor joined us and we watched the neighborhood fireworks. Better than usual this year as PA made them legal.

Today was another super humid cloudy day with a couple of thunderstorms. I finally planted the Dahlias, Gladolias and Canna lily's as best I could in the mud. The garden was starting to look OK until Mondays deluge. Most of the plants are stunted. Not looking good for a tomato crop.

SIL was tuning the Quad this evening.  We'll be leaving for the beach from the track on Saturday. It's about 30 miles on the way.

Best get to sleep

Prayers for those in need.

Good evening all,

Did yard work all day today. No mowing, just trimming and edging.  Was hot.  Neighbor lady asked how I could work in all this heat.  Told her I was used to it....and stupid.  Watched 2 World Cup matches I had recorded earlier.  Lots of errands to do tomorrow.  Got a book on a compliation of information about local railroad.  Fascinating stuff.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Split week, felt like Monday yesterday....

So, fire drill was cancelled last night, 5 people showed up.  Too hot as well.  Picked up the Princess and her consort and went to Cranbury for fireworks over the lake.  We parked on US 130 on the bridge (looked like that was the thing, we got there early) and was literally under the displays.  The Princess had commented that this was the closest we had ever been to the fireworks, and I can say that this is true.  We saw the flares through the trees where they were being lit.  The Princess treated us to ice cream afterwards and was in bed by 11.  Another good evening, for sure.

Rain and storms this morning, 2 fire calls, did not respond as I was getting ready for work.  77F rainy degrees on the way in.  A rant:  If you are on a major or superhighway and your 4 ways are on, move your stupid a$$ OUT of the left and center lanes and into the slow lanes....f'n morons...I was doing 60 which was fine....if you can't drive in weather like this, time to pull over into the rest area......oy....rant complete....

Should be cooler and dryer this weekend, going to see if I can get the bike out for a bit.  Brunch with Princess in the morning...big talk coming, not sure the context....

Let's see what scans I have coming.....

We are getting a few days break from the heat but no rain in the forecast. We do need some. Got doors and windows open, when the A/C comes on at 76 degrees we will close em. Except for RT toy trains seem to be on a summer break.

Was hot and humid.  Light rain now.  Big storms skirted us and headed to Raleigh.  That is OK.

Got home from fried chicken gizzard fix [Firehouse Foods here now has them every day] and house was 4 degrees higher than thermostat setting.  Asked Wifey.  OH I thought is was getting hot.  Wife had burned of connector to contactor.  Replaced and it is cooling great.  Why Wifey hadn't noticed?  BLONDE thing.

Banks, sorry about the flooding and hay.

OH, on the gizzard thing.  We have computer site called next door.  5K+ subscribers.  I posted that they now had fried chicken gizzards.  Was shocked to see the number of folks [male and female] glad to see that.  They sold out Friday night.  Seems to be more popular than I thought.  Even new Town Manager from Colorado loves them.

Later.

Good evening all,

Did a bunch of errands today and then actually mowed tonight.  Used the small 21" mower to get a better cut and not bog in the tall grass.  Yard looks pretty.  Wife said the "groundskeeper" could stay another week.  Fox did not broadcast World Cup and Telemundo fades in and out.  Did watch last few minutes of Belgium and Brazil.  Glad to see Neymar gone as he is such a jerk.  Cooler today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Mornin gang!

The week is closing out. Daughter and BF headed home around 4 am (all day drive). Son and his buddy fly out this afternoon. Was a great week with the kids on the lake. Ready to relax. Cool front took temps down starting yesterday. Also got some rain.

Dennis - glad the iPhone is working out. They become a pretty useful tool.

Chief - we use Nextdoor also. Good for communicating events, issues, local crime, etc. Unfortunately becomes a platform for the whiners occasionally.

MikeC - glad the 'groundskeeper' gets to stick around! Thumbs Up

Been hot and dry.  Then we got rain on the 4th.  Some more very light showers while neighbors got storms.  Woke up to 2.8 inches of rain since yesterday evening.  Still raining.  Suppose to end around noon.  Sit inside and drink coffee.

Hope all have a great weekend.

Maybe you should of smoked some weed Dennis so you could know???  Whistling

Sprayed the lane for weeds today. I buy it generic Glyphosate 41% considerate by the Gallon, That will make 50 gallons of spray mix set heavy or 64 gallons at the weaker rate. Both rates work. Most times 9 gallons of mix twice a year will do it for the lane.

Pulled the blades off the Husky 48" mower and sharpened them up. Will need new ones next year.
Wife went to Menards for something? I thought about going to Plainfield to see the guys, but it is a crap shoot who would be around and an 84 mile chance to get a DUI.

Good evening all,

Took furniture to Lucas.  My sister also brought some more furniture as well.  He is doing ok considering all the turmoil.  He seems to have his head on straight and has an action plan for going forward.  Weather was nice.  It was a long day as we left shortly after 10 AM and got home after 11 PM.  I have no idea about the World Cup today.  Will watch tomorrow.  AJ's team did not do so well in qualifying at Iowa.  Maybe better luck on Sunday.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good evening all,

Sundays must be no post days.  Weather getting warm again.  Watched the two World Cup matches from Saturday.  Listened to the Indycar race.  Another disaster for Foyt team.  Not sure what is wrong.  Will not improve the next 2 races for sure.  Pocono may be last hope for a good finish this year.   US team in F-1 got a top 10 again.  Back to work tomorrow (maybe rest up).  I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all!

Sunny and warm, seasonal Cool

Spent the day yesterday resting up from the kids visit and July 4th week's activities.

Made some aluminum brackets out of 1/8 x 1" strip to bolt a piece of 2" pvc to a wall for the repair of my 86 yr old neighbor lady's flag pole. The pole came down in the storms a week ago. Repaired/removed the bent thin wall Al pole sections and reinforced it with 1 1/2" pvc up the center. Came out really nice. This morning another neighbor helped me center it up on the masonry wall for her front walk. Used Tapcons to bolt the 2" pvc brackets to the wall. The 2" x 5 ft pvc acts as a receiver for the pole. She is very happy. The flag honors her deceased husband (retired Air Force/Korea).

Watched the NASCAR race Sat night. First half really boring, but glad I stuck it out as the end was really interesting. Nice that 22 yr old Eric Jones won his first Cup race. Even the Ms. was intrigued/on the edge of her seat. Also watched the Indy race yesterday afternoon. Unfortunate the race ended on a caution. Could have been a great restart.

Good afternoon,

A big happy birthday to Grandson Jordan today!!!! Big 5!!   Cake

Our son Russell and his wife Tiff and are currently in Vegas and watched Travis Pastrana jump buses, cars at the Caesar’s fountain last night.
I was watching that last night on History but it got long on BS and short on action so I went to bed.
Then at 2:00AM the alarm was going off in the basement and the darn ejector pump crapped out again, Good thing I installed that battery back up three years ago. At least the basement did not flood this time so fixing that crap has been my day so far. $485 later and I should be good to go on both pits in the basement with back ups now and a spare pump on the shelf.!!!!!!

Good Afternoon from sunny hot 98 degrees F Hollywood!

We're on the left coast visiting youngest daughter in Hollywood.  It is cooler today and has been pretty hot, 100+ the past few days.  I've been staying busy at her house while the kids and bride do the tourist thing.  I replaced the exterior doors to the house and garage.  Crazy construction in this place.  Neither opening was even close to being plumb or square, and the wall of the house was stucco so the wall was not even the same width.  The door trim called for some creative use of moulding.  Oh to of had my garage of tools!  Both doors turned out really nice.  Repaired a couple of ceiling fans, door knobs, and some less than correct jobs they have hired out.  It was really hot but drank lots of water and I'm glad I was used to working in the heat.  Daughter's significant other was wiped out after 30 minutes of working in the heat.

Banks unfortunate about the hay: prayers for your daughter

Roy - Good of you to help the neighbor

Ray - Thinks are really different than in Southern Ohio, if I say much else I may get into trouble by not being PC.

May God bless

Jim

Good evening all,

Hot today.  Walked outside and should not have.  Did practice with junior high kids.  Had to go tell my mom's surviving sister about Lucas.  She was shocked as we have all been.  Work was busy after being off 2 days, but not extensively so.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all!

Sunny and seasonal temps continue.

Spent yesterday afternoon repairing/replacing torn carpet on one of the boat trailer bunks. The ramp I use is a little too steep, so the water intake fitting on the hull can hit the bunk. It tore the carpet and took a divot out of the 2x4. Stripped the carpet, lotsa staples, smoothed the divot, and stapled on new carpet. Neighbor loaned me an electric stapler that made the stapling a breeze.

Nice evening so Ms and I went out on a boat ride - wine cruise Drinks

Phish - Nice you are able to help out!

Kev - Expensive pumps?

RT - Thumbs Up

MikeC - happy about World Cup finalists?

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 72 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  I've been very busy between the railroad and middle princess's new castle.  The master bedroom is coming along nicely, and daughter is getting excited for the new furniture to arrive.  Had to drive to Frederick to receive Wifey from oldest princess (getting old...).  Did get to Michael's to pick up some Tiny Treasures trees; coupons of course.

I too watched the Pastrami motorcycle jumps.  If you were a kid in the 70's, Evil Knievel events were "must see" tv.  It was cool to see Travis all decked out in the outfit and boots.  I like it when Subway has hot pastrami.

Phish - don't let the left-coast change ya.

rt - Any layout progress?

88 - How is the sunburn healing...?

PirateRoy - Sounds like you got a firm hand on boating booty.

Kev - Expensive pumps?

Good morning,

Caught up on my lost sleep from yesterday. Feels good.  Sleep Smile

Roy, there is a method to my madness: This ejector pump was installed in a pit so I could put a bathroom in the basement if I wanted. Never did, so yesterday I got a Wayne WSSM40V sump pump back up combo to replace it. Could not find one anywhere but on line so I ordered one from HD. All it moves is condensate and recharge water from the softener and sand filter so it runs almost if not every day many times.  I also bought another Wayne sump pump that is the same one as in the combo kit today from Rural King so it is pumping again till the ordered pump shows up and then if the main pump craps I have a direct fit pump on the shelf. 3 years ago I grafted a Zoeller Aquanut 508 back up pump to the ejector pump.  So now with that  I am going to move that back up pump over to the sump pump pit and install it to the Zoeller sump pump in that hole and pitch the third bad ejector pump in 11 years. That will give me back up in both holes and a good pump on the shelf. Why it all cost so much to do but I should be ready for anything now. Going to run them both off the same battery. It would be seldom they would ever run at the same time. The basement flooded twice before so it was saved by the back up pump this time! Yes

Fife, we need some work done here on the cabin when you get done with your other projects. Whistling

Mike, HOT HERE AGAIN TOO!  mid 80s already with 88% humidity and dew point of 74. Ick!

Hello there,

At the beach this week with son and his family. Daughter's crew stayed behind since she didn't feel up to it.

She called this  AM with the news that they got all the cancer. She meets next week to discuss the continued treatment. Probably radiation alone.

Mrs n I left the track and headed to the beach  as soon as the drags were over Saturday.  Grandson took 2nd in both his classes. Tuning gave him an additional 1.5 seconds but not enough.

We arrived here at 1015 Saturday. Sunday Mrs and I went to Mass and   spent most of the day relaxing and napping. Then a couple hours in the evening at Sundaes In The Park. Music and Sundaes capped off with Fireworks over the Bay. Son and family made it here about 2AM Monday.

Ready to head to  the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen   State Park.

Later
Prayers for those in need

Hi All,

It's been a few days. I've been busy doing nothing!! Big Smile Well, my buddy came over with a chipper on Saturday and helped me deal with a large pile of brush I've had for a few years. Maybe I'll finally get the pool set up. It's "cooled" down to high 70's.

Banks - Great news!! Hopefully that's it for her.

Rich - Have fun! Do you think my Grand Caravan would qualify as a "Mopar"? I do have a K&N "high performance" filter..... Laugh

Have a good one and prayers.

Good evening all !

Made it to the museum last Friday, wasn't sure if I could make it a full day so the BetterHalf spent the day there with me. Spent Sat and part of Sun recovering.

Had an extremely pleasant day today. Had a visitor from a little ways north of us today. Shake-n-Bake had a broken choo-choo to drop off for repair then came by here for a visit. We all went out for lunch after visiting for awhile then came back to sit and shoot the bull some more. Don, greatly enjoyed the visit.

Getting a bit tired.

Night all.

P.S._Great news Banksie !
