Hello there,

quick pass through on the way to bed.

Spent a couple hours at the office today.

Considered working on the coal but at17 degrees I decided to wait for tomorrow's mid 20s.

Feels like I  have head cold coming on. I know Hot Toddy but not Rock and Rye. Somebody give me directions?

Night all.

Prayers for those in need

Good evening all,

Kevin, you can reinstall Firefox on your own.  I even use it at work (and it is ok!).  Only software I use for the internet.  Today was a train day.  Got old Marx set out that got me started in this part of the hobby many many years ago and ran that.  Ran the Alaska equipment as well.  Got Trains, MR and TCA Quarterly today as well.  Was hoping they would have arrived earlier so I had more time to enjoy before heading back, but at least they are here.  Somewhat warmer today and still sunny.  Tomorrow, not so much.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Evening,

Wow, can't believe the cold weather you all are contending with.  Doesn't look like fun at all, and dangerous even.  Its a little chilly here and possible rain in the forecast, but not going to brag on it.

Saw a couple of movies over the weekend, "All The Money In The World".  A good movie about the Getty Kidnapping, both the Getty Museum and Getty Villa are located her in So Cal.  Admission is free going have to put it on our "To Do" list.

Not much else going on, hope the weather breaks for all of you soon.

Edit:

Did have a interesting New Years Eve, first thing the cursor on my laptop touch pad disappears.  Spent 3 or 4 hours trying to get it back.  Finally gave up, and we went to the movies.  Then after the movies, about 11:45, the second thing; Chris called on his girl friends phone and said he just realized he left his phone in the Uber car he and his friends got to take them to Huntington Beach to party, and it has all his work contacts.  When we get home we had a midnight snack and decided to go to bed.  Third thing;  Kay went upstairs, I went into the downstairs bath and found the rug in front of the sink was soaked!  Immediately started looking for the source, couldn't find anything, anywhere!  No other water on the floor all soaked in the rug.  Put the rug in the utility sink, and went to bed.  So thought I would wait until after New Years to see if the upstairs bath was the source, or maybe a pipe in the wall.

Sunday get up and Kay tells me Chris called about 3:45 and Uber had his phone and arrangements made to return it to him, (issue resolved).  I checked the bathroom and everthing is still dry, No water on the floor, wall board, ceiling, (bathroom directly upstairs), nothing in vanity.  The turn on the laptop, and everything is restored, don't know how or why, but happy issue resolved.    About a half hour later Kay comes down and goes in the downstairs bath and asks why is the overhead light so dim.  Sure enough the globe was 3/4 full of water!  So I take down the fixture and everything around it is dry and dusty.  Then I decide to take the overhead vent out so I have enough room to look inside between the ceiling downstairs and the floor upstairs.  So I look after I pull the vent fan out, and can see nothing, no wetness, hmmmm.  I then get my phone and stick it up in the space and take pictures all around.  Find some evidence of water stain on the rafter directly below the upstairs shower.  Get my super-duper new flashlight to further check.  Decide I better put everything back together, and continue with shower investigation this week.  (A removable panel behind the shower is accessible from Chris' room).  So get everything put back, the vent fan is a real pain to reinstall.  Finally get it done!    THEN today, I couldn't work on it had a Dr appt, BUT realized the super-duper flashlight was left in the space behind the vent!!!  Long story about a dumb flashlight, but all the issues New Years Eve, and Most resolved New Years Day.

So tomorrow with some luck will retrieve the light, remove the access panel, and resolve the leak.

Well went and got food and they called on the PC when we were gone.

$65 to get it back and FireFox is removed along with two years worth of bookmarks. Gurrrrrr!!!!!  Bang Head Two years of bookmarks gone along with all those passwords. Bang Head

So now I have to learn how to use Edge and start from scratch.  Huh?  Guess it could of been worse!

Got all dressed up went out and and checked on the septic drain. The condensate drain for the shed heater is frozen shut till whenever. I don't see any weather above freezing in the ten day forecast.  Crying

Love this software.  Curser disappeared. Went back out and started new post. Confused

Was 11 this AM when I left home.  Been interviewing for a Food Security Program Manager for the County.  Back tomorrow.

23 degrees and dropping.  Got to go out in the cold to Town Board. Sad

Hope all stays warm.

Was 11 when I left early this AM for interviewing folks for a County position heading food security. Came to town at 1:30. Late lunch and then meetings at town hall. Back tonight in the cold for town board. Back to do more interviews tomorrow AM trough afternoon.
Stay warm. 24 degrees now.

Aloha and Happy New Year! It is currently 0 degrees or -27 with the wind. I decided to work at home today when I got up to find it was -7 or - 30 aided by the breeze - didn't think the car could do 12 hours in the depot lot... nor me either. Fortunately, I could make that call and tell my staff to stay home too.

I was fortunate to have a few days off to re-do the layout - I just wanted to bring the action closer to the edge when I run the trains. Same theme with Ivor and still a fat dogbone - instead of running around the perimeter of my 29 by 14 ft space, it is now closer. Won't post a photo because I know it makes everything run slow but maybe I'll put together a separate thread. . . Hope you feel better soon, Roy.

Morning all!

25 and Maybe 28 today. After dealing all last week with a low level something (light flu since I had the shot in Oct?), I started coughing last night. Slept on and off til 10 today. Ugh...didn't need this...maybe something I got from my daughter when she was here sick last week...

Morning all. Done with my visit to the vampire, Will get results next Tuesday.

Okay so not much going on here today. My Menard's package should be here tomorrow. I bought four 57 chevy's that are suppose to be delivered today but the tracking info shows them still in WI. so I don't think that's going to happen, the seller says there 1:43 but the package says 139 so I guess there going to be a hair big. I have a GTO by the same manufacture and it's like 1/32" on each side bigger than my GTO my NewBrite And unless your really looking it's hard to see the difference so I'm thinking I'll be alright with these.

Not much else going on here

Cold as can be thou. 27* at present going to 36* they say, I started out the day at 11* thou.

Good Morning from -.5°F Southern Ohio,

Back to work and the kids are still off for Christmas break.  Did a few honey do’s yesterday, trimmed out around the microwave, put up a clothes line in the utility room in the basement, and one of those curved shower rods in the master bath.  All inside projects!

My neighbor at our old house died un-expectantly sometime between Christmas and New Year’s day, may God have mercy on his soul.  After not returning calls, police called and went in and he was dead.  Appears to have had a stroke or heart attack and was dead before hitting the floor.

My bride made porkloin with Krout and apples, with mashed potatoes, and green beans from the garden, it was very good.  After kitchen clean-up watched a little college football, then went to bed while the rest of the family stayed up.

Joe – How long have you been out of the States?

Buckeye – Good to see your post!

Got to go, may God bless

Jim

Hello there, a lazy day.

Slept till 730. Put the pork in the oven and went to Mass at 9.

Daughter and her crew joined us for pork and ***. (She brought the mashed taters) Son and crew were a no show.

Spent the afternoon watching It's a Wonderful life.

Went to visit Mom. She is starting to accept being where she is. Physically no change.

Started to write this last night but crashed.

Best get moving, Mrs was hoping for a delay due to cold but doesn't look like it's gonna happen.

Prayers for those in need.

Guten morgen,

I hope you all enjoyed the 1st day of the New Year. We are looking forward to our upcoming move. The older two kids are not overly excited about moving halfway through the school year, but they are being troopers about it. I know the area is great and I have been to Quantico MCB for temporary duty in the past. The reason the AF has a presence at the MCB is because a number of years ago a BRAC decided to have the HQs all the military criminal investigation organizations collocated.  Although I will not be assigned to our HQ, I will lead another element of our organization that is there.  I have worked, trained, and deployed with Marines, as well as Soldiers and Sailors, numerous times throughout my career so this assignment will not be a shock to me.  I do plan to attend York in the next couple of years and the house we will rent (already signed the lease) has a nice room for a layout.  It's time to start the day now and get rid of some things we will not need in VA.

Rob - We are excited about the move, but definitely will miss Germany and Europe.  There were many locations we wanted to visit.

Chief - Yes, I know I am moving to Rebel territory.

Good day,

Joe

Happy New Year all!  Had my black eyed peas and some pulled pork sandwiches for lunch.  Chief, that's the closest thing we have to bar-b-que.  Saw the Rose Parade and the B2 flyover.  Always impressive.  This year they had a fighter plane flying on each wing.  Couple or three guys I knew on the railroad were and have been float drivers in the parade for several years now.  They have a lot of fun.  Don, I finally solved the air bubbles in my pool filter system today.  It was an O ring that needed cleaning and reseating in the trap ahead of the filter.  I still have some kind of creaping crud.  I think it is pre bronchititis.  It is sore and inflamed when I cough.  Will try to get some anti biotics from the doc tomorrow.  My oldest son came over and spent some quality time with me this afternoon.  His wife has been busy visiting her mother who is in extended care at the hospital following pneumonia.  She is doing good and likes the care she is getting.  Chief, don't worry about me using Mary Jane.  I don't even drink these days.  It will be interesting to see how this new law plays out.  State probably likes the tax they will get.  Lots of others will suffer sooner or later.  Good night to all,

Ray

So much for the "Chugger Barn" today, I set the heater to 75 degrees, it's been running at least three hours and the "JT's Mega-Steam" smoke fluid's still frozen in the bottles!  Probably should have set the heater to "max."  It's not TOO bad out there but still a bit uncomfortable.  Oh well, there's always next weekend.

First 'a 2018 Morning all!

17 first thing and headed to a balmy 28 today! No ice here but it got Ft Worth pretty good. Daughter and BF made it to El Paso ok last night - but the normal 10 hr drive turned into 15 due to bad (icy) roads.

Happy New Years!!

Mmmm..... Chief the breakfast sounds good! (Well, except for the grits.) I'm going to make something similar for the family shortly.

Firelock - Trust me, even us Canucks have had enough of this too! We were going blame it on the cold front coming down from Alaska though. Maybe we'll start the weatherstripping there first. Big Smile

Banks - Glad your furnace woes are okay. Mine seems to be holding on after my "fix".

Joe - All of the best on your move back. I'm sure it's bittersweet.

Well, off to get breakfast started. Going to make some chili as well to enjoy during football today. Hopefully my Wolverines can keep the Big 10 unbeaten Bowl game streak intact. Go Blue!!

Have a good one.

Happy COLD New Year!!!

Yeah it is - 14 or - 16 outside alright!!!! Depending what window thermometer  you use. WOW I am with you Firelock, get the weatherstrip out!!!

Going to run the self clean cycle on the wife's stove and try to stay warm.

Chief, it has been below freezing since 12-23 and they say it will be another week before we see anything close to 32. These long cold spells are very hard on things. Got to check the septic drain pipe to make sure it is not frozen shut. Surprise

Did that one time, made for a sh!t%y mess. Ick!

Banks, get that heat cranking!

Best get started with the new year.

Happy New Year!

I am sorry for being MIA since Thanksgiving. Life has been hectic with work and family trips. Also, the AF has decided it is time for me to move already. After only 18 months in Germany, we will move to Quantico MCB in Northern Virginia. We will depart Germany on January 16th, so we have been and will continue to be extremely busy preparing to move. My posts will be sporadic during this time.

Regards,

Joe

Quantico MCB?  That's my old stompin' ground, as in 40 years old.  If you can tell us without having to kill us what's the Air Force got planned for you in Marineland?

Anyway, I'm sure you're going to like Northern Virginia, it's a pretty fun place to be with lots of things to do and see, and train shows on a fairly regular basis!  Traffic can be a bear though, but trust me, I've seen worse.

Best of luck in your new duty station!

PS to all, just checked the thermo-meter, 20 degrees, again very unusual for this area.  Turned on the heat in the "Chugger Barn"  about 45 minutes ago so maybe I can get an operating session in today.

Joe, not but a few hours from me.

Ah, a good VA guy.  We'll add the ham and toast. Yes

Guess Shake and Bake, Ray, Dennis and Dougsnotagrump are high this AM.  Smoke those joints. Surprise  I know the answer to that one.

All stay warm and safe.

PS: Buckeye should be warm with all the lumps of coal he got for Christmas.

Man, that's some "Breakfast Buffet!"  Substitute ham for the grits, and a side order of toast for the biscuits and you've got a New Jersey diner "Super-Lumberjack" breakfast special!

Hello there.

HAPPY NEW YEARS

Woke this AM in a 55 degree house. Found the switch that supplies the furnace had gone bad. Lit the gas fireplace and went to Mass. It was 6 degrees with a stff breeze when we left. Got a new switch at Ace Hardware on the way home  (quicker and warmer than rooting in the garage) It took the furnace and fireplace a couple hours to warm up the house .

Didn't attempt to finish the coal. The colder it is the harder the asthma hits me. The high today was 12.

8N.....I'm with you when it comes to copper pipe. Not sure of the condition of plastic in 20 years.

Our New Years celebration is over. Mrs has a cake in the oven. When it comes out we'll be off to bed.

Prayers for those in need.
