Morning all!
Looks to be a rainy, dreary weekend. Still holding out on the furnace!! :D Took the Mrs. out to Cracker Barrel this morning for breakfast and did a little pre-Christmas scouting for gifts. Probably going to the brother-in-laws this afternoon to watch football and finalize our plans for the "boys" road trip to Green Bay next weekend.
It's awesome to see how many of us are gear heads as well. My baby is my '83 Z28. It won't fetch $100,000 on Barrett Jackson (ugh, Barrett Jackson, that's a whole other rant!!), but it was my first car and I'm glad a still have it. I'm in the process of converting to fuel injection. I have a '95 LT1 engine I'm going to swap in.
As far as I80 nightmares, I have only been on the I80/90 through Ohio. I haven't had any issues, but maybe that's because it's a toll road for that portion and it's better maintained?
Kev- Glad the new motor was the fix for your 0-8-0.

Good morning - started in high 30's today but will hit 58 this afternoon and and back to 70's tomorrow!
Yes gear heads and trains. As a long time NASCAR fan my wife and son will note anytime the layout was in operation the trains were always running counterclockwise, making left hand turns!

The 1969 Shelby GT 350 is a $100,000 on Barrett Jackson today car.
I did the restore on the GTO and Fairlane. GTO was a hard rusty MO. car, the Fairlane was a bit better with the AZ body.
And then there is today. LOL

Good day at the museum. Had lots of kids go thru. Most liked the trains. Only one incident with a derailment, but nothing hurt. I got CTT today. Looks like a good issue again. All these comments about cars got me remembering as well. I raced a '74 Pinto for two years in SCCA Showroom Stock, but nothing else remarkable about it. Never did any major mechanical work on any vehicle. Best riding car we ever had is the 2014 Buick Encore we have now. Best performing vehicle in terms of just getting down the road is the '99 Dodge Dakota we still have. Three mini-vans and a bunch of K-cars and their variations have been our primary means of transportation. Weather was absolutely miserable today. Good day to be inside. I hope everyone has a good day.

Guten morgen,
It is a rainy morning here, but not too cold; it's around 52 right now. We will attend church and then relax the day away, with the exception of preparing the guest bedroom for the FIL's arrival tomorrow. Yesterday, the older son's soccer team lost again, and then the wife and I went out to dinner with some friends. I had roasted goose and it's not even Christmas yet. I watched the first half of the PSU-OSU game and then went to bed because it was already after 11 PM my time. I was not surprised to learn the outcome this morning as it is tough to beat OSU at the shoe. Years ago these games would greatly excite or anger me, but I eventually learned they are just games and in the grand scheme of life they will have no positive or negative impact on me or my family. I hope you all have a great day.

Well I broke down and fired up the furnace. Didn't make it to the end of the month. For some reason, I always like to see if I can make it to November 1st. I'm blaming my youngest daughter because she had a sleepover and the girls were "cold"!!
Wow! You guys have/had some nice rides! Kev- Quite the stable you had, love the Goat! I'm sure there's always a bunch of head bagging wishing those cars were with you guys. My uncle had a '64 1/2 Mustang and my dad had a '68 Dart GT, but they were just "grocery getters" back in the day.......
Roy- love the NASCAR/ train operating parallel! Do you say "Boogity, boogity, boogity!! Let's play trains boys!" when you start? Still looking for a new driver. Was a Stewart fan from start to finish. Might jump on the Elliott bandwagon.

Morning. Quick pass through. Rained during the night. Foggy now. Suppose to get windy and turn cooler. Warming back up later this week.
Not hunting this past week. Too busy. Friend Fred killed an 8 pointer this week. That is two on the farm in such a short time. His had bigger rack but smaller body. Still good deer.
Had Fall Festival in front of house. Street closed yesterday. Big crowd. PD cooked and gave out over 1,000 free hotdogs.

Overcast and 40s today, hopefully it won't rain. The ground is like a sponge. Saturday was a football day for me. I thought the Buckeyes were goners till they woke up way too late in the game. I too shrug off a loss, it's just a game but I was picturing Brent with a shoe stuck in his TV screen. I never got into hot cars, if mine was clean and running good I was happy with that. Always been a train nut though.

Stayed up too late watching game 5 of the WS, but glad I did! They go back to LA for 6 & 7. I think it will go all 7 games but would be thrilled if my hometown Astros were to take the pennant!
Chase Elliott got so close to a win yesterday, but he just did not have the ability to stay out front after his last restart. He was mad as he got pushed and spun by Hamlin as he was just too slow...too bad...but that is good racing.
Nice to be retired - slept until 10!
Sure glad I signed up for paperless for my Medicare Advantage. The pile of paper they have sent so far is now an inch thick...

Dropped off her car at the body shop in Seneca and then home to fix the tractor. I blew out the plugged fuel line and replaced both Fuel filters on the JD with new JD parts after taking a 50 mile drive to get the stuff. All is well again with the tractor. Darn Bio fuel garbage!

A busy Monday here. I started the day with a drive to the airport to retrieve the FIL. It takes a little over an hour to get to the Frankfurt airport from my house. When there isn't construction the drive is nice as the autobahn has many no-speed-limit zones. Unfortunately, there was plenty of construction today. Then a full day at the office and home to grill pork chops. It was about 45 degrees but it wasn't raining so I figured it was decent enough to fire up the grill. Then I drove the older son to and from soccer practice before being able to relax for the night. I will be in bed soon.

A quiet day at work got unexpectedly busy, but all worked out. Rainy all day so had to walk inside. Bummer to hear Submmbob no longer posting here. Always liked his comments. Wife and I went to pick up Halloween stuff from musem tonight. Will be busy tomorrow. Hopefully dry. I hope everyone has a good day.

I had a real busy weekend with four Masses and two of the parishes had Octoberfest / Halloween Parties to attend.
The wiring continues in the new garage. The conduit makes it look good but does add to the cost and installation time. I waiting for the position of the garage door opener to mount the power junction box. I think I’m going to go with three banks of the 4 foot LED linkable shop lights for lighting. Each bank separately switched for use as needed and a single overhead for routine pass through. I'm also going to connect into the garage distribution panel for the Emergency Generator tie-in.
As far as bios, I’ll be 62 this December. I’ve worked in the Uranium Fuel Cycle industry for just over 40 years. I’ve been married to my best friend for 40 years this coming July. We have two grown daughters and we’re raising our three grandkids; boy/girl twins 15 and the youngest girl 14. I am an Ordained Deacon in the Roman Catholic faith with the Columbus (Ohio) Diocese. I got into the toy train hobby after building a layout for a friend. I had a 6 x 10 American Flyer layout but it was taken down when the grandkids needed the bedroom space where the layout was built. Hopefully will start another layout in the house we moved into four months ago. I collect, refurbish and operate the original “S” gauge American Flyer trains and accessories, with a few Marx Tinplate trains and accessories.
I never could afford / justify a “specialty” car, but have worked on cars since I was 15. My quickest / fastest vehicle is my 2003 LB7 Duramax Crew Cab Dually. It is also the first vehicle I’ve “modified” for increased performance.

Busy day at work, sort of. Weather was dry enough to walk. Still cold. Not too many trick or treaters tonight. We are off the beaten path. Someone else will have to start November. I just happened to be up late enough for October. If no one starts when I leave in the morning, I will fire it up again (maybe get a mention about that All American sport!) I hope everyone has a good day.
November's pot has been bruid. This one has been dumped out.
