Evening all,

A warm one at 90 even though a front is passing through today. 90 tomorrow.

Watching Alabama vs A&M. Bama as usual totally in control, but A&M showing a little spark?

Had to make an excursion to the far north, McKinney TX, as our daughter was in a wedding and locked her keys in the trunk of her car While they were at a pre-wedding event at a hotel where they will return later tonight. So she caught a ride and the missus and I drove up and coordinated with AAA to get the car unlocked. AAA was great, showed up in 30 min. We waited at the hotel bar so no problemo...

So while we were up in that territory we ate at a nice fish place

Joe - love foie gras, esp in France...yum...good cheeses in Europe also. And wine at restaurants there is served at reasonable prices unlike here in the US.

Dougnotta - hang in there! Prayers for you Angel - your friends nephew was indeed blessed.

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

Finally a good day of soccer.  Grandson's team won 7-2, and granddaughter's team tied 0-0 (first non loss of the season for them).  Best of all, granddaughter played like she knew what she was doing.  She had one quarter as goalie and had no scores against her, and her field play was focused and very helpful to the team.  Plus the Indy 11 did not lose in a 2-2 tie.   As AJ would say, "All in all, it was a pretty good day."  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Guten morgen,

We ended up staying closer to home yesterday. Instead of driving two and a half hours to Stuttgart, we went out for lunch and visited a pumpkin farm. Now, we have plenty of pumpkins to carve in to jack-o-lanterns once the wife gives us the okay; usually a week or so before Halloween. After a slow start, PSU took care of business against Northwestern.  Michigan fell again to MSU. It looks like rain today.  We will leave for church soon and then relax around the house.

That is funny Fife. Laugh

dougdagrump - Hopefully the doctors figure out a solid plan for you.  Your friend's nephew is a hero.

According to RMT's website, there will be a big announcement in 15 days.

Have a good day,

Joe

Morning all! I'm enjoying a quiet house too, RT!! Big Smile Going to play hockey this morning (still won't give it up....). Then, off to the in-laws this afternoon for Canadian Thanksgiving. Same deal, lots of turkey and lots of football. Hopefully, my Packers will have a better outcome than my Wolverines last night. Ugly game for Blue. Sad

DougDG - fingers crossed for the meds.

Kev- since your post about your locomotive woes was hijacked over Santa Claus postal codes, I'll ask you here, if you were able to find anything yet?

Have a good day.

Good morning, Can see my breath outside this morning,

We,, at long last got some rain. About an inch and the ground is still hard.

Rob, I have not yet took the time to look at that engine. Waiting for a day I can't work outside.

Yesterday I got a nice oak from Jim next door about 40' of trunk in 4 ten foot sections so I cut, split and stacked it in the wood shed.

Got a phone call last night from long lost son of mine. First time in over two years. maybe there is hope?

Leaves today if they dry up some.

Evening all!

Sunny and 90, but was reasonably pleasant so humidity must be down. Possibly 94 tomorrow, and then 70's Tues!

Truex took Charlotte today. The Toyotas just keep pulling away. Chase Elliot got another 2 nd.

Happily A&M did not embarrass themselves against Bama last night. True Freshman QBack to boot!

Watching Cboys vs Pack. Rob - you know who I am backing...acckk - CBoys lost it...

And - Rob, happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

Good evening all,

Rainy all day here.  Younger daughter showed up with her son.  He is staying with us the next two days and I am off tomorrow so there will be some projects with him.  Got the elevated trestle done for the Halloween exhibit.  Works fairly well, but I am not sure if the handcar is as good as the postwar versions.   It mostly works well.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Happy Columbus Day!

We had an extremely relaxing Sunday yesterday. After church, we enjoyed the rain from inside our house. I even had a nap. The wife made butternut squash and pumpkin soup for dinner and it was great.  I did not stay awake for the game because it started around 1:30 AM here, but the Yankees were able to hold off the Tribe and survive another day.  I do not have work today and the kids do not have school.  It looks like we may see some sun today and the high will be in the low 50s.  I should go for a run before I become busy with errands.

Kev - I hope whatever has happened between you and your son can be resolved.

Prayers for all those in need.

Mornin' paisans.  Remnants of Nate leaving the Patterson Creek cut-off (just a rain event here).  Yesterday was forgetable.  We had mechanical issue that caused us to cancel trip after 2 attempts to leave Cumberland.  Lots of unhappy campers.  I went home miserable.  I wonder if Shake-and-Bake had those types of days (other than the broken leg thingie)...

Aloha - sunny and beauty of a day for the Bear's big Monday night game. They should do poorly but I hope their new QB is decent. I enjoyed a quiet weekend of college football on Sarturday - at least ND won in a downpour against a injury depleted NC team. It was a boring games. Happy T'giving, Rob! Hope you are feeling better, Chief. Praying for your med issue to be resolved swiftly, Doug. Dennis, I spent yesterday picking up 10 bags of apples that fell from our trees. I ran out of gas before tackling the apples still on the trees! Glad you connected with your son, Kev.

Evening all!

Waitin on the front to blow through. Lower temps will be short lived but welcome.

Chief - I have had very similar afflictions and on my inner elbow joint, both due to a brown recluse spider bite. Huge red welt and eventually a boil - incredibly painful.

Fife - I can empathize - I worked as a mechanic/electrician at Astroworld (Houston) and Carowinds (Charlotte) amusement parks - when a major ride broke down and the public caught you as you were moving tools/parts/etc between the ride and the service shops, they really let you have it...

Good evening all,

We even have the grey reclusives here in PA, a friend of mine got bitten or stung, what ever they do and it took him about a year to fully recover.  They are very nasty critters.

BTW, anyone coming to York next week?

This coming Saturday we are having our 60th HS reunion.  Amazingly we have 48 classmates coming out of a graduating class of 98.  With 33 decised that is quite a turnout.

Good evening all,

Spent enjoyable day with grandson.  Played some card and dice games along with Sequence.  Showed him how to build with American Plastic Bricks.  He is very creative.  Mostly rested.  Weather was dry but humid.  Grass too wet to mow.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Chief, that sounds a lot like what I had. Cellulitis is a common skin infection that happens when bacteria spread through the skin to deeper tissues.

Calling for rain today and I am taking the Colorado in for some stupid 3 month check-up. A waist of time.  Super Angry

Have to fast tonight for the AAA screening tomorrow

Sun and 70s today, Kevin's rain arrives tonight till morning.

Our foursome is an April York event. I buy almost nothing but it's a great 5 day outing for me. All the walking hurts my back and legs but it wears off in a few days. This year we went to DC on Wednesday and walked all day. The guys almost had to carry me to bed. But somehow I was able to get up Thursday Morn and attend the show.

Good evening,

A busy Tuesday here following the long weekend. The wife flew to the US today for work. She will be in OK for one week so I am solo with the kids and will do my best to keep them alive. :P  I shortened my work hours to ensure they get on the school bus in the morning and be home when they return in the afternoon.  Today was easy as they had no after school activities to attend; tomorrow and Friday will be difficult as I have to have them in multiple places at the same times.  It was not raining this evening so for dinner I grilled pork chops and bell peppers and make made hash browns.  It time to get them ready for bed.

Evening!

Joe - nice you can be there for your kids. I was able to do that and was glad I did!

Kev - yep, the vehicle checks can be a pain, but at least for me the dealer has been honest and on top of the vehicle - plus in some cases it is a requirement of the extended warranties. The Acura dealer this week replaced our battery for free as they noticed it seemed a bit weak - never had a warranty cover a battery before - and I got a free loaner. My Chevy dealer provides free loaners also if you schedule in advance - if you do not schedule they cannot assure a loaner but their free shuttle is quite good ( no long waits).

Evening all! Back at it today after the long weekend. Lots of sports and food! Enjoying the nice evening Fall breeze.

Roy - Our game was a nail biter. I thought a few times in the 4th quarter I was going to owe my mother-in-law a new TV!! Big Smile Horrible pass interference calls on both teams.

Doug-Even though the Bears are my NFC North nemesis, Trubisky wasn't horrible in his debut. Too bad about the pick late in the game. Cool punt fake, though!

Kev-I hope the door is open with your son. Seeing my father in law sobbing over the last two weeks after the death of my sister in law, I know he wishes he had a chance to take a "life mulligan" with their relationship. A lot of shoulda coulda woulda.....

Chief - Fingers crossed with a diagnosis for your skin.

Joe - I flew solo with the kids for almost 5 years after wife one bailed. A week will be a breeze!!

Have a good one.

Rain is the word,,,

Cleaned the inside of the fireplace today,,, now the glass doors next, their a real PITA to clean.

Been raining for about two hours now and temps are falling.

Going to look at grave plots tomorrow with wifey and my sister. Oh joy!

Yeah Roy I have to agree but for me it kind of sucked to drive 30+ miles round trip to the dealer to have them spend 13 minutes to add 1PSI of air to one tire and top off the washer fluid. Just stupid.  It cost me more in gas than I got,,,,for sure.
You nailed it Rob! shoulda coulda woulda..... Most is all so stupid till it is too late.

Good evening all,

Busy day at work.  Weather too wet to walk at noon.  Wife took grandson back to daughter today.  Can't believe US is losing to Trinidad and Tobaggo AT HOME!  Ugh.  Fortunately the other two teams are losing as well so we may back into World Cup.  He!! of a way to do it.  Double Ugh.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Went to dinner with friends tonight at a good Mexican restaurant.  Had steak fahitas.  Very good.  Chief take care of yourself.  Prayers for quick relief.  My birthday is on Friday the 13th but that's OK.  It happens sometimes.  Going on train ride Saturday from L.A. to San Luis Obispo on coast line in two private cars.  One dome and a lounge car.  Fare includes breakfast and dinner with snacks available all day.  Will spend about three hours in San Luis and take in a local train museum and train layout then return back to L.A.  It will be a full day.  My two sons are going with me.
