Mornin' Y'all.
Have started my cancer drugs, so far so good. Kind of a strict schedule though, nausea pills at 7:30 am, cancer pills at 8am, breakfast and morning pills at 9am. Haven't pulled a Linda Blair from the "Excorsist", yet. The oncologist has me scheduled for blood tests every other week, wants to make sure the pills don't damage the liver.
Made it to the museum on Friday, took in the Halloween trains. Think most of the guests, young and old alike, got a chuckle out of seeing them as well as they way the place is decorated. I was running conventional only, nice for a change w/o any DCS/TMCC gremlins to contend with. Although I did end up spending from 4am to about 10am Saturday morning in ER. It seems DUMB(me) & DUMBER(also me) apparently indulged in to much salty foods. Had to wake up the BetterHalf to drive me in, breathing issues. Nothing like a big injection of Lasix to get the river flowing.
Chief, When's dinner ?
Safe travels to the Yorkies. Don't melt the plastic, singe is OK.

Morning all!
Nice and sunny after the front came through early this am. Went down to 62 while it rained for a while and 66. Nice!
Dougnotta - glad the meds are not hitting you hard so far. Watch that salt!
Chief - nice buck. Train room - assume this is your first time in for a couple of years now? Do you remember the way?
Bruce - nice!
SJ - I'll be looking for the video!
Joe - glad you are getting some good weather!
Mike C - I gave up on reunions. Esp when they became money making affairs for the organizors.
Kev - glug glug glug...
Regards, Roy

Chief - now I am getting clarity here - you built the addition so you reclaim the train box and put your portable tools in the addition !
Only got to 55 today so I cut and split another bunch of tree trunk from a 50'+ Oak I got from Jim next door two days ago. Took about 1.5 hours. I told him I only wanted stuff bigger than 4" so he put the rest on the burn pile he cooked two days ago. The wood shed is almost full on the 2018 & 2019 side now. Thanks to wifey we have it all stocked & stacked in the shed to dry.
Perfect weather and temps to do some work.

Good evening all,
Very quiet day today. Did sweep the train room. Temps have dropped all day. Down in the 40s tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

Mornin' FellasTheQ made it home! Christina's team won their game and are now 4-3 on the season, and Christina scored her first goal! They were in their end on defense and one of the oposing team members missed his kick and Christina stole it, straight down the pitch and hit a nice shot with her left foot because she was on the left side of the net, perfect placement! Daddy was very proud of her, not so much himself because he forgot to record it!

Morning gang!
50 this am and headed ton75 today!
Brent - congrats on Christina's big score! And glad the Q is home!
Dennis - glad you guys are safe! Yes we saw the devastation. Saw one video when they had the 50 mph winds and the fire was screaming horizontal - looked like a blast furnace. Heat so intense metals were melting...horrible.
Kev - good deal on the firewood!
Prepping for York trip. Packaged up some more stuff to sell inc a 1990 Lionel limited edition Santa Fe Dash 40 set with the extra loco. Looks like the weather is gonna be great! 70's/40's!
Cool here but nice, warming through the next few days.
I like working with firewood, hard but it gives me a sense of accomplishment.
Roy, Got to send some paperwork into BCBS of IL. to get them to pay my medical bills. I thought they said this would be easy, BS it is. The stuff will be too heavy for a regular envelop so off to post office I go.
Guess I will swing past the body shop as well and see when they will start on Sandra's car repair.
DougDG for you and the meds.
Brent, congrats on Christina's first score! Cool stuff there!
Better get with it.
Sun but we started the morning at 49 degrees. Glad the rain has left for awhile.
Charlie has posted the club video of Norms layout on OGR, look for Detroit3railers.

Hi guys. Been a while since I posted so I thought I would say hi to all.
The cooler weather last night sure has me thinking about trains and deer hunting.
Hope everyone has a great week!

Guten abend,
It's hard to believe this great weather is still hanging around. Another sunny day around 73 degrees. I believe tomorrow and Wednesday will be the same. The kids did not have school today as it was a teacher training day. I went to work until about 15:00 and then came home to prepare dinner. I grilled some pork and eggplant and made some rice. We had one last package of Japanese curry sauce remaining from our time in Japan. It goes great on everything, even the eggplant. I then chauffeured the older son to and from soccer practice. My wife will be home tomorrow afternoon and we are all excited for her return.
V8 - I am glad you and the others are in a safer location. Those wildfires are no joke.
Brent - Congratulations to Christina.
Prayers for dougdagrump and all of us in need.
Good night,
Joe
Evenin' boys.
GOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good to see you, Charlie.
Good evening all, I went on a train ride this past weekend to celebrate a railroad friend's retirement. It was also the day after my birthday. We had two private cars tacked onto the rear of the Pacific Surfliner Amtrak train from Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo and return. About a 500 mile round trip. One car was a dome former CB&Q Silver Splendor and the other was an ex ATSF lounge car "Acoma". We had a great time with meals and snacks included. Also beer, wine and soft drinks available and included in the price. The outbound trip was delayed for about 90 minutes at Ventura due to a pedestrian/train fatality on the train ahead of us. We got into San Luis Obispo too late to layover for any time so we just did a turn and burn back to L.A. I saw a beautiful sunset over the Pacific Ocean during dinner in the dome car. We got back to L.A. on time which didn't really matter to me. They must have made maximum allowed speed all the way back because some people lost their footing on curves. Anyway, great trip.

Greetings all,
The front went through last evening like a toronado. High winds blew down a lot of leaves, many of them still attached to their branches. Sure makes short work of any dead Birch that was standing.
Picked up those 3 rail trucks and couplers yesterday. About 10 matching pairs of trucks from various manufacturers. Various separate lobster claws and wheel sets as well. Also got a couple of those Kadee sized electro-couplers and a working electronic Dalee reverse unit. Most of the cars that were in need now have new wheels.
Watched the Detroit clubs video from Norm's tonight....sure is impressive! Noticed the J1 by the coaling tower...beautiful!
A few hours at the work bench produced nothing this evening. Some days get like that, so pack it in and watch TV.
Best wishes and prayers ...till tomorrow
Bruce
Brent, there is nothing quite the first time you see one of your kids get one in the back of the net! Congrats to Christina! I look forward to seeing her on the national team in a few years. Nice weather day. Traveled to Brown County for a family gathering on the wife's side. Very nice. Back to work tomorrow. I hope everyone has a good day.
MichRR714 Hi guys. Been a while since I posted so I thought I would say hi to all. The cooler weather last night sure has me thinking about trains and deer hunting. Hope everyone has a great week!
Brent if you just think back a few years. There's a whole heap of guys that don't post here anymore.
Sun but fall chilly @ 60 degrees.
robmcc Kev - Thanks for the locomotive update. Hopefully the e-unit will be the fix.
Kev - Thanks for the locomotive update. Hopefully the e-unit will be the fix.
Well that new e-unit did not work Rob,,,
Guess I will order a motor.
As for missing people here, life goes on. Some come and some go. Maybe they are hanging someplace else, right you two? or they have moved on to other things.
Can't say I blame them much, when you do place something here on the CTT forums about a train item and it turns into Santa's address and not the problem.
Nice here, high 60s clear skys and leaves are burning.
Just having time to relax now. The wife returned today which was great; however, she is jet lagged and on the right time zone yet. I raced home from work to grill steaks for dinner and then run the older son to a soccer game. Amazingly, his team played well and they actually ended up with a tie. Considering they usually lose by double digits, this is quite the accomplishment. I believe tomorrow will be our last sunny day for a while; it was nice while it lasted. The Yankees rebounded nicely last night and I hope it continues.
Bruce - Yes, Norm's layout and modeling skills are most impressive.
Good Afternoon from a beautiful 72°F Southern Ohio fall day,
It’s been two weeks since I’ve posted, so much going on!
Our 15 year old girl passed three 8mm kidney stones! This is her second bout with them. She is a tough nut!
We went camping last weekend to Shawnee Forrest for the annual Halloween Campout. The kids had a good time and had friends camp with us. Our camper sleeps 10 but we just put all the boys out in a tent.
The new truck garage is coming along. The contractor is going to pour the new apron Thursday or Friday. I’m really looking forward to get the truck in out of the weather.
Chief – Nice Buck
Kev – Taking care of funeral arrangements before you need them is a real gift to your loved ones.
May God bless
Jim
Evening all!
Another nice day today at 76 or so.
All packed and ready for the trip to BWI/York in the am. 6 am flight, ugh, but we get there by noon.
Ray - sounds like that was a great trip! Glad you enjoyed it!
Jim, three kidney stones? Ouch. Busy day at work. Good weather for walking. Did very little tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Passing through for a quick visit before bed. Hope all are OK. Been busy last two.
Brent, they are growing up too fast. Sad you allow her to play that Un-American sport [that was for you know who].
All have a good one.
sir james I Brent if you just think back a few years. There's a whole heap of guys that don't post here anymore. Sun but fall chilly @ 60 degrees. S.J.
Aloha. Like Germany, we have had a long string of days in the 70s for October. I think it's close to some sort of record in Chicago. Just finished a decent work 'retreat' - you never know how those things will work out.
PlateRail, love the catenary. I never strung any wire on the trolley-themed layout years ago - just put in the poles. It really looks good.Joe and Brent - glad the wives are home safe. Congratulations on the soccer (football) milestones.Fife, that was a horrible Bears-Ravens game this past week - I'm glad for the win but it was full of sloppy plays.Stur-Fish, three kidney stones! She is a trooper. Just one put me in the ER...

Your right Jim, What my dad did back in 1958 getting a family lot was a great gift for us today.
Got all the paperwork from the cemetery yesterday proving that those plots are ours. So the next step is to get wife and my headstone purchased and set. If cremated two people can be placed in one plot so there is still room for eight people in that famly lot.
Brent they have a large mausoleum already built in our cemetery that you can be placed in and it don't cost to much. I don't know if you can build your own?
Moving on,,,,
Weather is very nice on the North Bluff today. Going into mid 70s with full sun. Like Doug said, we have had a long string of days in the 70s for October and no frost yet. Looks like it will change next week.
Did leaves yesterday so I should get a day off from them today.
Off to Krogers today to spend some of that SS pay.
ChiefEagles Brent, they are growing up too fast. Sad you allow her to play that Un-American sport [that was for you know who].

Kev - at the cemetery where her grand parents and mother are buried they have large spaces that are available for mausoleums. Personally I don't understand paying that kind of money on a building to be buried in.
The day at the office today seemed to drag; probably because of meetings in the morning. The weather was fantastic once again and it looks tomorrow will be pretty nice as well. I had to drive the older son to and from soccer practice as well as drive the princess to ballet. If we lived in the US, I would not have to drive as much since the princess is 16. Over here, the age is 18 and it is costly and time-consuming to obtain a driver's license. The wife, youngest child, and I enjoyed dinner out. The Yankees came through once again. A win tonight would be huge. I would like to stay awake to watch it, but I am already pretty tired.
Jim Phish - Your daughter is extremely tough. I hope she is feeling better.
