Hi All!
A blah day here. Mid 60's and rain. Good day to watch some football. Hopefully my Wolverines will bounce back against the Hoosiers. (so far, so good!) Heading to the folks later for supper. Looking forward to seeing my sister and nephew as well.
Kev - Thanks for the locomotive update. Hopefully the e-unit will be the fix. I keep bugging the Mrs. to get our final affairs dealt with, especially after the sudden death of her sister. She keeps saying it's bad luck/karma to do it, but you never know......
RT- I hope that addition will include room for that missing layout!!
Have a good one and prayers for those in need.
Rob
Only word for today is Rain,
Turned my crushed beer cans in at $.39 a # and got enough for a 30 pack.

Morning all!
Will be ugly hot today - 94/95 and hooomid
Banks - we used to - but bringing new product to and from each show in the last couple of years made paying for the storage unit also impractical.
Mike C - nice - 3 days for you, hope you have more good weather for it.
Talledega this weekend!
Regards, Roy
Good evening all,
Good day at work. Good weather for walk. Mowed yard tonight. Maybe last time I do that after work. May have to do it on weekends only. Busy 3 day weekend ahead. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Hello there.
Stayed up too late watching original Star Trek. Now tired but wide awake.
On the list for this weekend is repair the feed to the tail lights on the Tahoe, get the camper ready for York, replace a couple of shingles on the house and hopefully cut a 25 foot spruce that is leaning bady.
Sunday morning I've got an extra turn at counting and depositing collection.
Not sure of the final day of work yet. Last project that was supposed to finish before the end of the month is going to run at least into December through no fault of ours. The customer isn't bringing equipment that we have final connection to.
The new company has made very reasonable offers to all the men I've talked to. I've heard nothing.
Plate Rail. ...come more often.
Where's da chief. Hope he's OK.
Roy....thought you kept the booth stored in York.
This weather is weird. Went to the garden tonight hoping to find a small zucchini to fry for supper and found loads of ripe maters. Now Mrs wants to can more whole maters. Middle of October and not a killing frost yet.
Best try to sleep.
Prayers for those in need

Evening all!
Hot today. Mid-90's and extremely humid so pretty ugly. The cold front still on track for Sunday. Bring it!
I was able to get out some stuff to take to York to sell. Got everything out, tested, and then repacked and down to the shop for the van taking the booth to York.
MTH Santa Fe QS1 Northern 4-8-4. This was one of their first Premier releases back in '95 or so. Beautiful loco and near mint. Put a BCR in it, tested. Good to go.
Lionel CC II Pennsy Sharknose A-B-A set with the display track/case and boxcar.
Lionel CCII UP M10000 3-unit set with extra car for 4 units. Also with the display track/case and boxcar.
I just do not run these units anymore so time to pass them on.
Looking at a few other items to take this weekend.
Bruce - wow! Cantenary...you are industrious- good luck!
Roy, thanks for the welcome back.
Damp and dreary but still unusually warm for mid Oct.
Spent today reviving the dormant project of adding catenary to the layout. With the recent rearranging of track work, that section was a good starting point. A bit tedeous but as you gain skill at the basics the assembly goes smoother.
Got a line on a bunch of 3 rail trucks and couplers from conversions by a 2 rail guy. Will be going to check them out on Sunday. I have a half dozen cars that need them and always in need of spares. Can never have too many parts.
Have a great weekend.
Bruce
Guten abend,
Happy Friday the 13th! The weather here has been unusually nice and will continue so through the weekend. We have had sun and mid-60s which is quite queer for Germany in October. Tomorrow and Sunday it could be around 70. The only after school/work driving I had today was taking the princess to ballet. I utilized our local Italian restaurant/pizzeria to feed all of us tonight. I ordered takeout pizza for the boys and then brought the princess there to have dinner with her friend, while I sat solo at the bar. We love this place as it is family-run and so close to our house. It will be bedtime soon and I am ready for it.
Good night,
Joe
Mornin' FellasTalked to TheQ last night. Think the kids really miss her, and they have very different ways of expressing their feelings. Christina just lays it out there. Matthew internalizes it and it comes out completely opposite of how he feels (at least I hope this is the case). I told her I miss her and can't wait for her return so we can get back to some level of 'normalcy'. I know she is tired of being away from home, can really hear it in her voice, especially when she talks to/or about Christina. Matthew doesn't want to talk to her. Poor guy. He makes her feel guilty for making him miss her.Got my Lionel Catalog in the mail from CharlesRo yesterday... Christina got it and asked when I'm going to buy more trains. Told her not for a long time, as Lionel hasn't made anything I'm interested in. Still haven't finished deconstructing the train garden in the trainroom, really need to get that done as it is looking more and more like we'll be building in a year or two.Going to miss York next week... ugh. But got good news from work that they are combining all PTO into one pool of hours. Looks like I'll be gaining either 1 or 2 weeks of PTO. Will be nice as that will finally bring me up to what TheQ gets which will make vacations easier to plan... oh and we'll be able to carry over 1 week starting next year.

TGIF! !!!!!!
Off to see the lady with the mask and whip.
Quiet day at work. Dressed slightly better for the weather today. Be glad when this week is over. I see where CMT is going to be at York. They look like they may be making some interesting standard gauge product again. I hope everyone has a good day.
When my mother in law was Burried in TN she still had her husbands ashes in a ern and the director said they could be burried together but that was the limit.
I move around to much to think about doing that, but do plan to stay here but you never know.
Got an estiment ( 2 year in the future) to do a 14' x 25' addition to the house. basically $30,000 which I was expecting. I'm getting a new HVAC unit put in which will need to be moved from present location for the addition in a couple of years. No sense having it moved in two years when I can do it now. With other plans of fixing things here at the house I figure instead of this spring for a early pay-off on the house I will keep just making my near triple payments and have it paid off like 12/18 instead of trying to pay it off this coming april. Still paying it off in like 3 years is great in my book. Advantage of buying a smaller place in a small southern town. I'm also increasing the size of the unit from 2 ton to 2.5 ton as to have what is needed for the addition in a couple of years.
Anyway my train money has been shot for next few years ( about 8 or so lol. )
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne

Afternoon all!
Warmed up today and will return to 90's Sat/Sun...back to 70's predicted for next week...
Kev - not sure of your state laws but TX allows 2 interments in one plot. As we buried my mothers ashes in one of the family plots in a small urn, I asked if we could stack 6 or more urns in a couple of rows and levels? Well the director told me the law states no more than 2 - regardless of what the folks are interred in - oh well - I thought I had a pretty good plan there!
Bruce - welcome back!
Brent - sounds like things are going well all things considered! Hope the Q returns soon!
Another successful day is coming to an end; I am enjoying wine now. Today was much more relaxing as the kids had no after school activities. The weather was somewhat warm: partly sunny and a high around 62. I grilled a pork tenderloin and sautéed some zucchini and sweet peppers for dinner. It is about time to get the kids in bed and call the wife.
Kev - Wow! I would have never thought so much needed to go in to plot planning. I know my parents did it a long time ago. It is very wise and responsible of you to take care of it now and not leave it to someone else. Since we move so much it has never been on my mind.
robmcc Kev- since your post about your locomotive woes was hijacked over Santa Claus postal codes, I'll ask you here, if you were able to find anything yet?

Rob,
I pulled the shell today and un-hooked the e-unit and hooked a 9 volt battery to the motor like SJ suggested and the motor seems to work fine. I will order a new e-unit install it, and let you know if that repairs the problem. I have hope it will.
Good morning from a wet and damp North Bluff,
Back from the abdominal aortic aneurysm screen this morning. It was no big deal. Took longer to drive there than the test took.
Yesterday I hit the lotty I think when we went plot shopping. . Found out there are 4 family plots in the family Lot still open and I can be plugged in right next to my mom who died when I was small. Where I have always wanted to go.
Dad had to buy an extra plot for my stepmom so she could be on his other side in one numbered 6a so there were 7 spaces in all there. So it is 6a-6-5-4-3-2-1.... 4-3-2-1 are all empty. I will go in 4 next to my mom, Sandra next to me in 3 and there will still be 2 & 1 and 1 is next to our grand parents on my mom's side the Webb's. I just have to insure who's name they are in before I jump in. I not sure if dad or grandpa purchased them and if it matters? The paper work did have our name on it.
My brother and sister can use 2&1 if they want. Kenny the sexton and a friend of mine is checking to be sure it is all good and once it is confirmed I will order a stone and get it set.
Weird stuff but better to get it delt with now than leave it to others to figure out.
Anyway enough on that, best get moving.
Mornin' fellasTired. Going on day 8 without TheQ, miss her dearly. She was home Sunday evening, but we didn't get to spend much time together as she had to grade papers, and pack for her trips to Buffalo and CT. I get to talk to her each night, but it just isn't the same as her being here. Lots going on that I can't discuss due to her work, but hopefully everything is happening for a reason.Got good news yesterday from the landscaper in Pittsburgh... had to have some landscaping timber walls that I built torn down and replaced. He did all that and installed a 65' x 2' retaining wall, looks awesome. Really dresses up the front of the rental and adds some value to the house as it is a Versa-Lock wall in mottled grey. Next up is replacing the rusty cast iron railings and getting the concrete porch slab repaired. Hope to have it all done by winter...Christina's soccer team won their 3rd game of the season last Saturday so they are now 3-3 on the season, only two more games to go plus the tournament. She wants to play basketball this winter, so I got her registered for that too.I need a vacation!
Good evening all. Been some time since I've posted here. Lots has happened with layout construction and learning about trains in general. Still leaning towards Pennsy stuff, with a strong fondness for their electrics. I don't let that hamper my purchases though....if it really appeals to me, it usually follows me home.
We finally appear to be having an autumn here in the great white north. Cool and damp today as the leaves drop like flies. I spent the last couple of evenings re-routing some mainline so as to eliminate a tight curve on a grade that caused issues with large locos. In the process I was able to complete track wiring in the area, improving both continuity and TMCC signal. There's still loads of details to accomplish, like splicing in a turnout to add a spur and all the switch machine installations. More major tweeking to come but that's what was expected with the freehand design. No cookie cutter trackage here.
A busy day at work. Got to walk outside, but it was brisk. Temps dropped during day instead of going up. Still cannot believe US blew the World Cup chances. Triple Ugh! I hope everyone has a good day.
Finally relaxing for the night. The workday was pleasant and I was home early enough have dinner ready shortly after the kids returned home from school. We had to eat earlier than usual so I could run the princess to ballet and the older son to soccer practice. The youngest was a good navigator for me. This is day two without mom and so far no mishaps. This is actually my 20th time or so being solo and I have yet to severely injure or maim any of the kids. Thanks for all the support.
Rob - Yes, a week is a breeze, especially considering your situation.
SP Ray - Enjoy that trip. It sounds like fun.
Was able to sleep in a bit this morning. I have had trouble sleeping most of this year and unable to figure out why. So it was good to catch up a bit.
It was still 52 this morning at 10 (yes!). 75 for a high today, sunny.
Ray - great trip and great your sons are going with you! We'll look forward to your report on the trip next week!
Rob - the wife is bummed. CBoys - based on history - will have to go undefeted for the rest of the season to make playoffs, or the other teams in the division have to be similar.
DougM - Mr. Biscuit - I like it!
Kev - thanks again for your advise on Medicare a few weeks back. It is done and worked out well!
Aloha from a rainy Chicago. I'm glad you can adjust your schedule, Joe, to care for your littles. My youngest has to walk home in the rain today because none of us can get over to the school so early - they're testing all day -- at least it's only a mile or so. He won't melt.
Ray, that sounds like a very cool trip.
Rob, I enjoy following the Bears - in a very down season, that trick play was fun to watch. "Mr. Biscuit" as my daughter calls Trubisky didn't stink!
Hope you feel better Chief!Kev, I anticipate a car repair adventure later this week - I know what's wrong with our ancient Honda CRV but figure on getting quotes for repairs all over the map!
MikeC, I am disgusted with the US team. I am stunned they are out.

Good morning,
Heavy rain for about an hour around midnight. Still have not checked to see how much.
58 and damp 63 for the high.
Plot shopping today.
Went to dinner with friends tonight at a good Mexican restaurant. Had steak fahitas. Very good. Chief take care of yourself. Prayers for quick relief. My birthday is on Friday the 13th but that's OK. It happens sometimes. Going on train ride Saturday from L.A. to San Luis Obispo on coast line in two private cars. One dome and a lounge car. Fare includes breakfast and dinner with snacks available all day. Will spend about three hours in San Luis and take in a local train museum and train layout then return back to L.A. It will be a full day. My two sons are going with me.

Busy day at work. Weather too wet to walk at noon. Wife took grandson back to daughter today. Can't believe US is losing to Trinidad and Tobaggo AT HOME! Ugh. Fortunately the other two teams are losing as well so we may back into World Cup. He!! of a way to do it. Double Ugh. I hope everyone has a good day.
Cleaned the inside of the fireplace today,,, now the glass doors next, their a real PITA to clean.
Been raining for about two hours now and temps are falling.
Going to look at grave plots tomorrow with wifey and my sister. Oh joy!
Evening all! Back at it today after the long weekend. Lots of sports and food! Enjoying the nice evening Fall breeze.
Roy - Our game was a nail biter. I thought a few times in the 4th quarter I was going to owe my mother-in-law a new TV!! Horrible pass interference calls on both teams.
Doug-Even though the Bears are my NFC North nemesis, Trubisky wasn't horrible in his debut. Too bad about the pick late in the game. Cool punt fake, though!
Kev-I hope the door is open with your son. Seeing my father in law sobbing over the last two weeks after the death of my sister in law, I know he wishes he had a chance to take a "life mulligan" with their relationship. A lot of shoulda coulda woulda.....
Chief - Fingers crossed with a diagnosis for your skin.
Joe - I flew solo with the kids for almost 5 years after wife one bailed. A week will be a breeze!!
Have a good one.
Evening!
Joe - nice you can be there for your kids. I was able to do that and was glad I did!
Kev - yep, the vehicle checks can be a pain, but at least for me the dealer has been honest and on top of the vehicle - plus in some cases it is a requirement of the extended warranties. The Acura dealer this week replaced our battery for free as they noticed it seemed a bit weak - never had a warranty cover a battery before - and I got a free loaner. My Chevy dealer provides free loaners also if you schedule in advance - if you do not schedule they cannot assure a loaner but their free shuttle is quite good ( no long waits).
Good evening,
A busy Tuesday here following the long weekend. The wife flew to the US today for work. She will be in OK for one week so I am solo with the kids and will do my best to keep them alive. I shortened my work hours to ensure they get on the school bus in the morning and be home when they return in the afternoon. Today was easy as they had no after school activities to attend; tomorrow and Friday will be difficult as I have to have them in multiple places at the same times. It was not raining this evening so for dinner I grilled pork chops and bell peppers and make made hash browns. It time to get them ready for bed.
Sun and 70s today, Kevin's rain arrives tonight till morning.
Our foursome is an April York event. I buy almost nothing but it's a great 5 day outing for me. All the walking hurts my back and legs but it wears off in a few days. This year we went to DC on Wednesday and walked all day. The guys almost had to carry me to bed. But somehow I was able to get up Thursday Morn and attend the show.
