Evening all!

Another nice day today at 76 or so.

All packed and ready for the trip to BWI/York in the am. 6 am flight, ugh, but we get there by noon.

Ray - sounds like that was a great trip! Glad you enjoyed it!

Good Afternoon from a beautiful 72°F Southern Ohio fall day,

It’s been two weeks since I’ve posted, so much going on!

Our 15 year old girl passed three 8mm kidney stones!  This is her second bout with them.  She is a tough nut!

We went camping last weekend to Shawnee Forrest for the annual Halloween Campout.  The kids had a good time and had friends camp with us.  Our camper sleeps 10 but we just put all the boys out in a tent.

The new truck garage is coming along.  The contractor is going to pour the new apron Thursday or Friday.  I’m really looking forward to get the truck in out of the weather.

Chief – Nice Buck

Kev – Taking care of funeral arrangements before you need them is a real gift to your loved ones.

May God bless

Jim

Guten abend,

Just having time to relax now. The wife returned today which was great; however, she is jet lagged and on the right time zone yet. I raced home from work to grill steaks for dinner and then run the older son to a soccer game. Amazingly, his team played well and they actually ended up with a tie.  Considering they usually lose by double digits, this is quite the accomplishment.  I believe tomorrow will be our last sunny day for a while; it was nice while it lasted.  The Yankees rebounded nicely last night and I hope it continues.

Bruce - Yes, Norm's layout and modeling skills are most impressive.

Good night,

Joe

Kev - Thanks for the locomotive update. Hopefully the e-unit will be the fix.

Well that new e-unit did not work Rob,,, Bang Head Bang Head Bang Head

Guess I will order a motor. Tongue Tied

As for missing people here, life goes on. Some come and some go. Maybe they are hanging someplace else, right you two? or they have moved on to other things.

And let’s not forget CTT’s user friendly software may be another reason. It works fine on my PC but does not seem to like a lot of other devices.

Can't say I blame them much, when you do place something here on the CTT forums about a train item and it turns into Santa's address and not the problem.

Nice here, high 60s clear skys and leaves are burning.

Hi guys.  Been a while since I posted so I thought I would say hi to all.

The cooler weather last night sure has me thinking about trains and deer hunting.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Who is this stranger? Wink wb Charlie!

Now we just need to send a search party out for Shake-n-Bake, RI Jack, Buckeye, Laz, RedFire, et al who I have forgotten.

20+ degree drop on the high side today... brrr...

Need to get the jungle cut, and wood moved back under the porch. Furnance has kicked on 4 times today already... probably go through the house and make sure the windows are secure.

Thanks for the congrats to Christina, I will share them with her when she gets home from school. I'm sure she will get a kick out of them.

Good evening all,

Brent, there is nothing quite the first time you see one of your kids get one in the back of the net!  Congrats to Christina!   I look forward to seeing her on the national team in a few years.  Nice weather day.  Traveled to Brown County for a family gathering on the wife's side.  Very nice.  Back to work tomorrow. I hope everyone has a good day.

Greetings all,

The front went through last evening like a toronado. High winds blew down a lot of leaves, many of them still attached to their branches.  Sure makes short work of any dead Birch that was standing.

Picked up those 3 rail trucks and couplers yesterday. About 10 matching pairs of trucks from various manufacturers.  Various separate lobster claws and wheel sets as well.  Also got a couple of those Kadee sized electro-couplers and a working electronic Dalee reverse unit. Most of the cars that were in need now have new wheels.

Watched the Detroit clubs video from Norm's tonight....sure is impressive!  Noticed the J1 by the coaling tower...beautiful!

A few hours at the work bench produced nothing this evening.  Some days get like that, so pack it in and watch TV.

Best wishes and prayers ...till tomorrow

Bruce

Good evening all,  I went on a train ride this past weekend to celebrate a railroad friend's retirement.  It was also the day after my birthday.  We had two private cars tacked onto the rear of the Pacific Surfliner Amtrak train from Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo and return.  About a 500 mile round trip. One car was a dome former CB&Q Silver Splendor and the other was an ex ATSF lounge car "Acoma".  We had a great time with meals and snacks included.  Also beer, wine and soft drinks available and included in the price.  The outbound trip was delayed for about 90 minutes at Ventura due to a pedestrian/train fatality on the train ahead of us.  We got into San Luis Obispo too late to layover for any time so we just did a turn and burn back to L.A.  I saw a beautiful sunset over the Pacific Ocean during dinner in the dome car.  We got back to L.A. on time which didn't really matter to me.  They must have made maximum allowed speed all the way back because some people lost their footing on curves.  Anyway, great trip.

Guten abend,

It's hard to believe this great weather is still hanging around. Another sunny day around 73 degrees. I believe tomorrow and Wednesday will be the same. The kids did not have school today as it was a teacher training day. I went to work until about 15:00 and then came home to prepare dinner. I grilled some pork and eggplant and made some rice. We had one last package of Japanese curry sauce remaining from our time in Japan. It goes great on everything, even the eggplant. I then chauffeured the older son to and from soccer practice. My wife will be home tomorrow afternoon and we are all excited for her return.

V8 - I am glad you and the others are in a safer location.  Those wildfires are no joke.

Brent - Congratulations to Christina.

Prayers for dougdagrump and all of us in need.

Good night,

Joe

Cool here but nice, warming through the next few days.

I like working with firewood, hard but it gives me a sense of accomplishment.

Roy, Got to send some paperwork into BCBS of IL. to get them to pay my medical bills. I thought they said this would be easy, BS it is. The stuff will be too heavy for a regular envelop so off to post office I go. Angry

Guess I will swing past the body shop as well and see when they will start on Sandra's car repair.

DougDG Angel for you and the meds.

Brent, congrats on Christina's first score! Cool stuff there!

Better get with it.

Morning gang!

50 this am and headed ton75 today!

Brent - congrats on Christina's big score! And glad the Q is home!

Dennis - glad you guys are safe! Yes we saw the devastation. Saw one video when they had the 50 mph winds and the fire was screaming horizontal - looked like a blast furnace. Heat so intense metals were melting...horrible.

Kev - good deal on the firewood!

Prepping for York trip. Packaged up some more stuff to sell inc a 1990 Lionel limited edition Santa Fe Dash 40 set with the extra loco. Looks like the weather is gonna be great! 70's/40's!

Mornin' Fellas

TheQ made it home! Christina's team won their game and are now 4-3 on the season, and Christina scored her first goal! They were in their end on defense and one of the oposing team members missed his kick and Christina stole it, straight down the pitch and hit a nice shot with her left foot because she was on the left side of the net, perfect placement! Daddy was very proud of her, not so much himself because he forgot to record it! Sad

Only got to 55 today so I cut and split another bunch of tree trunk from a 50'+ Oak I got from Jim next door two days ago. Took about 1.5 hours. I told him I only wanted stuff bigger than 4" so he put the rest on the burn pile he cooked two days ago. The wood shed is almost full on the 2018 & 2019 side now.  Thanks to wifey we have it all stocked & stacked in the shed to dry.

Perfect weather and temps to do some work.

Mornin' Y'all.

Have started my cancer drugs, so far so good. Kind of a strict schedule though, nausea pills at 7:30 am, cancer pills at 8am, breakfast and morning pills at 9am. Haven't pulled a Linda Blair from the "Excorsist", yet. The oncologist has me scheduled for blood tests every other week, wants to make sure the pills don't damage the liver.

Made it to the museum on Friday, took in the Halloween trains. Think most of the guests, young and old alike, got a chuckle out of seeing them as well as they way the place is decorated. I was running conventional only, nice for a change w/o any DCS/TMCC gremlins to contend with. Whistling  Although I did end up spending from 4am to about 10am Saturday morning in ER. It seems DUMB(me) & DUMBER(also me) apparently indulged in to much salty foods. Had to wake up the BetterHalf to drive me in, breathing issues. Bang HeadNothing like a big injection of Lasix to get the river flowing.

Chief, When's dinner ?

Safe travels to the Yorkies. Don't melt the plastic, singe is OK. Smile, Wink & Grin

Angel for those in need.

Later all !

Good morning,

2.3" of rain overnight, that brings us to 5" in five days. Still nothing moving in the ravines. WOW

Temps have dropped to the low 50s for today and then warming tomorrow and the rest of the week.
Might do some repair work on that rusty Evap line on the Ranger that keeps tripping the check engine light.

Guten tag,

So far it has been a great Sunday. The weather is perfect again: sunny and a high around 73. Yesterday, my German landlord was at my older son's soccer game because he had a grandson and grand-nephew on the opposing team. He and I were chatting and he told me this has been a Golden October. That is how Germans describe October when it is unseasonably warm and sunny. That is quite the appropriate description. We went to church this morning and are relaxing around the house today. The boys and I have been outside playing catch and street hockey and I am smoking a pork shoulder now. I do not see the day's agenda becoming busy in any way.

Plate Rail - That is a nice looking scene.

Has V8 Vega posted recently?  I hope those wildfires are not affecting him.

Good day,

Joe

No hurricane but we've had fall rains for a week now. Suppose to move out later today but with strong winds coming in behind it. Our club meet was yesterday afternoon and evening. No video yet. But it's a real nice layout of a well know modeler.

Morning.  Been a busy week past with Mayor duties and house in an uproar.  Subs arriving very early and working late.  Got a lot done on the addition.  Power and plumbing done.  Flooring down.  Looking like its getting ready to be finished soon.

Did take off Friday afternoon and go to deer camp at farm.  Was in the stand before sunrise for opening day of gun season.  Nothing but does.  Hunted a different stand over a soybean field yesterday afternoon.  Just before dark, this guy walk up on me.  Had to wait until he went out into the beans as had to turn all the way around in tree stand to shoot.

7 pointer  weighed in at 179.5.

Got to get into train box and straighten.  Visitors tomorrow AM.

Plate, looks good.

Have a good week all.

Good evening all,

Good day weather wise.  Tried to go to college reunion.  One of those days when I should have spent the whole day there, but did not have time for that.  Did not see that many people and as I walked around campus, I realized I have very few connections to the place.  Not sure if I will ever go back.  Wife and I went to see a "show" put on by the grandkids home school group.   Nothing to write home about.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Greetings all,

Another great train day.  Spent some time assembling catenary on the layout and some soldering the components together.  It's not prototypical or current carrying but helps make a raised pantograph look functional.  Here's a relatively completed section

Itchin' to get at those aforementioned trucks and couplers tomorrow.  Absolutely no idea as to how many and the types this guy has.

Running some postwar stuff on the den layout tonight.  Growling old 2343 hauling a string of aluminum cars drowns out the TV.

Pleasant dreams!

Guten abend,

Today was another amazing weather day. I believe the high reached 70 and it was sunny most of the day. I took care of some errands and grocery shopping in the morning, went for a jog after lunch, and then enjoyed the older son's soccer game. As usual, his team was crushed by the local German team. At least the beer and weather were nice. I grilled ribs, bratwurst, salmon, and sweet peppers for dinner. The princess likes ribs, the older son likes salmon and the skin, and the youngest likes bratwurst. I eat all three.  I rented a Diary of a Wimpy Kid move on Amazon for the kids and that will be the extent of our evening; however, I will stay awake to watch the Yankees game.

Good night,

Joe
