Good Morning from overcast 44°F and damp 84% humidity Southern Ohio,
The concrete for the garage apron is poured. It rained a bit after initial bull float and needed a little dressing, but I don’t believe it was worked too much. Time will tell.
I’m going to check out and function check the furnace and the two gas fireplaces and winterize the camper this coming weekend in addition to wiring the garage. Oil change for the truck and Civic are due but may need to wait till next weekend, we’ll see how the heating units check outs go.
Banks – you are really fortunate. I’ve seen campers really torn up with a tire lets go.
Plate Rail – sounds like you’ve got an interesting job
Kev – Happy Anniversary
May God bless
Jim
Morning all!Started in the high 40's this am. 56 right now, sunny, 77 high today. Not much planned today...have some work areas to clean up.
Kev - happy anniversary!
Bruce - whatever you are into there sounds pretty cool. The GG1 project and making operating pantographs sounds like a challenge!
Phish - on the garage nearing completion!
I went and got my flu shot (free under Medicare) about 2 weeks prior to York. Did not want to have something hit me there.
Regards, Roy
Sturgeon-Phish Banks – Praise God for your Guardian Angel! Did the blow out damage the camper any? Trailer tires are crazy expensive for what you get. They usually fall apart before they wear out. I’m going to in the market for camper tires too before my next trip over 100 miles!

Hello there,
Jim......Yes God was with us. No severe danage to the camper. Two brackets that support the skirt on the bottom got wiped out. The tires didn't look the best but never thought they'd fail like that. The camper is an 08 I bought in Richmond Indiana 4 years in March. Since then it's been to the beach 3 times (500+ miles round trip) and York a couple of times (250 mile round trip) I checked the date code on the failed tire. It was made the 26th week of 08. Guess they were nearer the end of their life than I thought.
Plate Rail..........tell us more about yourself

Good evening all,
Missed posting last night. Work was quiet Monday, but finished one project. Took today off for regular blood tests. Doctor forgot to send orders so we just had freebies done. Got train stuff to museum for Halloween exhibit this Saturday. Got outside Halloween lights up as well. Weather is absolutely dreary. Congrats, KRM, on anniversary! I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
It was 35 years ago today Sandra and I met and 31 years tomorrow that we got married! Wow we must be getting old!
Been cold and wet today. not much elas going on here on The North Bluff
Evenin' Folks!
Typical fall day with the winds stripping off most of the remaining leaves.
Hope all who attended had happy York experience. I keep threatening to get there some day.
A recent sell off of inventory has left the garage strangely devoid of vehicles. The boss and I solved that issue on Sunday and will shortly be receiving 4-6 British clunkers of various vintage. I'm anticipating the revival of a 1975 Panther that has sat dormant in a museum for 10 years. Hopefully its Jaguar V12 isn't too difficult to coax back to life.
In between cars, the GG1 upgrade has be coming along slowly. Been designing new circuitry in addition to the ERR electronics to operate some extra features found on the original MTH PS2 engine. Lighting through a double ganged relay is sewn up...now it's getting the operating pantographs working...more fun with relays and limit switches.
Back to the work bench.
Bruce
Guten abend,
Today was much more steady. The weather was somewhat dreary but not unbearable by any means. Our evening was pleasant as the kids had nowhere to be and we could relax at home. The wife made stuffed peppers for dinner and my only complaint was that she did not make more of them. It is almost time to get some sleep.
Roy - I concur. Slow days can feel miserable.
Good night,
Joe
Good Afternoon from beautiful sunny 55° F Southern Ohio,
The new garage is progressing. We have the electric ran through the conduit into the distribution panel and one circuit ran so we don’t have to run extension cords. The contractor scheduled the concrete for the apron last week for today and praise be God, the rains are holding off this morning and it should be long enough to allow adequate cure before starting to rain again tonight. The highway bypass had the concrete companies completely tied up for days! I should be able to park in the new garage by this coming weekend.

Lunch time over
At the RRMuseum of PA today, temps near 70 and sunny. Thin crowd, but had a nice chat with a visitor who had lots of questions. Fortunately I could answer them. That’s not always the case.
Morning all!
Another clear crisp day, starting in the 50's, with a front arriving. Will be breezy - 70 for a high.
SJ - I also visited the dentist yesterday...
Fife - that's nice the daughter pitched in to help at your work. Priceless!
Kev - sorry...
Joe - sometimes fast days are good days in hindsight.
Nothing much planned today, still recovering from the York trip.
Morning, Rain and cold here on the North Bluff.
Burning some paper stuff in the burn barrel yesterday and got my first hit of the good old Raynaud's disease. May as well be winter for me now.....
Nothing planned for today.
Mornin' boys. Mostly sunny & 54 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Spent the past few hours piecing together ghost stories for this week's train trips.
Youngest Princess really liked working on the train this past weekend. She rolled up her sleeves when we got back to the yard, and helped with prepping the dinner train for the evening run. She also worked a double on her 17th birthday! Our HR lady said that didn't surprise her...
Enjoyed my first day off in 3 weeks, yesterday. Looking forward to getting back to my "semi-retired" schedule next month. Maybe even get some trains running in the ground floor layout room. Goal is to have all 4 lines (3 Lionel, 1 AF) running by Christmas.
Guten morgen,
I don't even know what happened to Monday. It was a busy day and flew by. Before I knew it, I was asleep in my bed and now it's Tuesday. Today it will be cloudy, in the 50s, and some rain. I hope today is less hectic and I hope you all have a great day.
Good day,
Kev, at our local cemetery the stones are all flat. Runs about 1K on average.
SPMan
Forgot to mention that we ran into Laz and Mitch, I think that was it unless I forgot someone. If so let me know.
I'll echo what Roy and Banks had to say about York. Had a great time walking the show with them & enjoyed our breakfast with them and Mrs. Banks. Jean and I always like chating with them. Always like getting together with the gang at the Trainworx both as well. All I bought at the show was a few tools at B&B tools. They have a whole room to themselves now. The modular group in the Black hall had an interesting layout. I belonged to that group about 6-8 years ago, but dropped out when they started to have way to many shows to fit my schedule. Hope to make it again in Spring 2018.
Damp and cold here.
Went Headstone shopping today, nothing better to do with this rain. Looks like $1,400 (cheap flat one) to 2K (angle one above ground) will get what we want. 2K will match the other two for mom & dad, and grandma and grandpa that are already there. Most likely do that.
Doug,,,, what ever happend with your Honda CRV problems?????
66 degrees with a whole heap of rain headed this way. I got my tooth cleaned this morning , dentist say's I'm good for 6 months. I see on facebook some nice goodies came home from York.

Aloha. Grey and rainy as Kev said. Defintely colder by the lake. Sounds just like fall in Germany, Joe! Got locked out of this site recently - just couldn't get in no matter the browser and with the right username / passwork. Then all of a sudden it worked again.
Glad our Yorkies had fun! The youngest was sick this weekend so that impacted our activities - especially being a part of our church hosting its first services at a new building. Surprised Notre Dame beat USC and that the Bears won.
Kev, that is cool of your neighbor to give Jordan a ride. Years ago, when the subdivisions around us were farms, a kind neighbor gave the youngest a ride in his combine. He still talks about that.
Banks, glad you and the camper are OK from that blow-out!
Doug Murphy 'We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...' Henry V.
A Chamber of Commerce day - clear blue skies - cool!
Kev - oh well - glad you found the problem and a decent price.
Rain and cold again today, Got over an inch last night and will rain all day.
I got an e-mail from Jeff the Train Tender telling me he will match Lionel's price on that motor, That was nice of him to do that. He has always been a good guy to deal with. So I guess I will order one up. Pretty sure it is a motor issue. Yesterday I ran it on the bench and I saw smoke coming out of the motor and it got so hot you could not touch it.
Banks, blow outs on the interstate scare the he!! out of me.
Good weather today. Mowed the yard. Did trimming and edging hopefully for last time. Watched F-1 race. Lots of action. I hope everyone has a good day.
back from York and ready to crash.
Had a bit of excitement near mile 220 on the PA turnpike. The front left tire on the camper blew. Thankfully it was one of the newly widened sections with 3 lanes and a wide berm. Most of the traffic moved to the center lane to give us clearance while changing the tire. I'll be buying 4 new tires before the next trip.
Roy......I've been collecting Gilbert HO since the early 80s. It was only produced from 55 to 63. There isn't a huge variety like Lionel. There was prewar but it was a really small number. I do have a few pieces that I got really cheap. Originally my goal was all the 3 digit pieces. (55-57) which I have. Basically I have all the easy stuff and I'm to cheap to buy the hard stuff unless I get a great bargain. The last few years I've been buying Tyco/Mantua, Revell etc. From the early 60s. Been planning a layout that could be under an early 60s Christmas tree. Recently decided to include a loop of O Guage for dad's prewar stuff.
Dozing off here.
Thanks Roy, It works free and smokes great, even better now that I got to run the power up all the way to make it move.
Priced the motor for the 0-8-0 from The Train Tender and he has a $5.00 bump on the cost I can get it from Lionel from. Sorry I am an okay guy but not that okay. I only have $50.00 in the whole engine.
So I,
Winterized the water pump on the tank Sandra uses for her flowers that sits in the back of the Gator,, weed sprayer, pressure washer, and cleaned and covered the AC compressor on the house. Put out bait packs for our little rat and mousey friends and cleaned up in general around the shop. Leaves are falling in earnest today.
Kev - some of those locos use a plastic smoke unit assembly. They overheat easily and the mechanism can gall up. Try checking that it moves freely and if not take it completely out and then test the loco.
Morning all!Cooling off (mid-60's) after some big storms and a lot of rain. Nice.Banks - great summary. I had a great time with you guys and really enjoyed the visit and time we all spent together. For everyone, let me put a little clarity to Bank's description of the voluminous, highly available Gilbert HO stuff...everytime I pointed out some HO or focused on something Banks was looking at - the response went like this..."I already have that...". One time there was a box of items and he said "I have all of that..." The place was also thick with S gauge this fall.
Followed the ALCS game while on the flight last night - go Stro's!.
Morning all. Sunny and warm. Had Hardees biscuits for breakfast.
Banks, that Cracker Barrel is a favorite [after you find it]. Think we ate there every morning.
Yankees.
Wifey moving clothes into her new walk-in closet. Only room finished. Now I will have some room in old one.
Got to go to Town Hall [at 2:30] and be at reception for two Commissioners who have been on the Board since the early 80's. Also Town Manager who left. I will have to be a politician and how great they were and how much they will be missed. Self and staff will be glad they are gone.
Have a great week ahead.

Another beautiful fall morning. Nothing much on the agenda today. Going to watch my Rodgers-less Packers this afternoon and see what happens..... I think I'll take advantage of this weather and smoke some ribs for supper. I hope those that went to York had a good weekend. I looked at the MTH 2018 Volume 1 catalog online. There was a few things of interest, but no must haves.
Have a good one.
