Great weather here to Mike,

Goofed off most of the day. Leg is doing very well.

Made the mistake of watching the news today and can only think of the 1963 movie Ladybug Ladybug. 54 years and nothing has changed. Tongue Tied

Have a good night.

Good evening all,

Got caught up on all the financial details suspended during the trip. Mowed the yard tonight and it was not as bad as I thought it would be. Weather absolutely perfect here. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hand report:

Dr. re-cauterized hole in hand. Deadened it. Funny. When he was burning the center of the hole, fingers kept jumping. Wasn't hurting. A nerve reaction. Had to hold fingers down. Dr. put a "plug" in it. Will dissolve later on. Oh well. Now feeling back. "Burns" like the devil. Tylenol.

Good Afternoon from a beautiful sunny 78°F 40% humidity Southern Ohio,

The county fair is in full swing. The kids took four broiler chickens and one rabbit to the fair. None of the chickens placed high enough to sell at auction, but I’m sure they will be delicious when we butcher them. Rabbit judging is later today. We’ll see how that goes. The kids are talking about adding goats to our critter list for next year. That may be a possibility as we have several acres that are overgrown and the goats can get it under control pretty quickly. We raised goats before when our daughters were in 4-H and they are a fun project.

Time to get turnover ready for the next shift and I can go home and hear how their day at the fair went.

Special prayers for the folks with medical issues.

May God bless

Jim

Hey yo, quick check in.....

Dougnotta - yes I went a couple times, the best view I had one year was from the seat of my car went a guy on a crotch rcoket pulled up and the pretty thing on the back was bare bottomed. Wonderful sight....lol

I am trying to plan a trip to Orlando and Biketoberfest with my bike, just deciding how that's gonna happen cuz I'm not riding that far from Jersey and back....

Went to a classic car show and drive in movie in Vineland on Saturday, the feature was Christine....classic Mopar movie....lol don't pi$$ off the Plymouth, your Camaro might get crushed, haha!! Took the Princess and we had a blast, a few rat rods, your typical Camaros (waaaay too many) a couple of Chevelles, not enough Mopars, I was one of maybe 5. Raided the concession stand a few times, lol.

Just a great night out, no stress no drama, gotta love it.

Not sure of this weekends plans, I know I have to repair the exhaust again on the roadrunner as it it leaking on the left side collector. I did the right side Saturday, go figure.

Have Greenburgs ticket for the weekend but might go Saturday, Sunday BIG car show in New Hope, PA, might go to that...lotsa options this weekend and next.

Gotta get back to the race, prayers for all in need..

I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.

Morning all!

Raining on and off here. The rain is hampering my outdoor chores and activities. Supposed to quit for the day after lunch. Hope so as we are planning to go to a minor league ball game tonight. Hosted by a realtor friend so free hot dogs and burgers!

Ray - good to hear from you. Hope you are doing well!

SJ - our summer has been an abnormal amount of rain - glad yours is being enjoyed!

Mike C - glad you made it home safely and enjoyed your trip!

Just checking in.

Low 80s today.

Haven't had the A/C on for about a week now. Fresh summer air feels good. High humidity and on it will go. Summer is so beautiful, we are just enjoying it.

Much needed rain falling. Taking the Yorkie to the vet. Then calling Dr. Hand was clotting good until Sunday. Meds may be the problem. Bleeding and not doing well. Always something. Not busy Mayor wise today so guess works out.

Good evening all, I'm still nursing my sore ankles and feet but I think the swelling may have gone down a little. I'm wearing some open toe sandals that are comfortable. Will see doctor Thursday with some results from my test. Chief, I am very sorry that you have a problem too. I have been away from the Coffee Pot for a while and was doing some catch up reading tonight. It sounds like your doctor is giving you some positive news about it. A wife of a friend of mine has been living with a blood cancer for years since diagnosed. Sounds like they caught yours early. Hang in there friend. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Good night all,

Ray

Good evening all,

Just when you think it cannot get any better, I actually saw one of the ALCOs in action today!!!! Woo-hoo! I feel like a real ferroequinologist. So cool. Better still, we actually made better time than expected according to Google. Good to be home. I hope everyone has a good day.

Good afternoon,

Rained last night but just light. 66 heading to 77. Not to bad here.

Sandra and I took a day ride to get lunch at the Bank. " a bar and grill that is in a old bank" Was nice to get out of the house. Asked if she wanted to go on the trip she said NO not till I am all the way okay on the leg thing. Guess I will put the money back into the bank. Tongue Tied

House has been getting dive bombed all day from a crop sprayer doing the bean fields around us. Got to give it to the guy, he sure can fly that plane. Travel

Dennis, I think the kind on RT's truck has a standard Rack and Pinion system with Elect Assist.

Best answer from Wikipedia:

Electric power assisted steering (EPS/EPAS) or motor-driven power steering (MDPS) uses an electric motor to assist the driver of a vehicle. Sensors detect the position and torque of the steering column, and a computer module applies assistive torque via the motor, which connects to either the steering gear or steering column. This allows varying amounts of assistance to be applied depending on driving conditions. Engineers can therefore tailor steering-gear response to variable-rate and variable-damping suspension systems, optimizing ride, handling, and steering for each vehicle.[18] On Fiat group cars the amount of assistance can be regulated using a button named "CITY" that switches between two different assist curves, while most other EPS systems have variable assist. These give more assistance as the vehicle slows down, and less at faster speeds.

A mechanical linkage between the steering wheel and the steering gear is retained in EPAS. In the event of component failure or power failure that causes a failure to provide assistance, the mechanical linkage serves as a back-up. If EPAS fails, the driver encounters a situation where heavy effort is required to steer. This heavy effort is similar to that of an inoperative hydraulic steering assist system[citation needed]. Depending on the driving situation, driving skill and strength of the driver, steering assist loss may or may not lead to a crash. The difficulty of steering with inoperative power steering is compounded by the choice of steering ratios in assisted steering gears vs. fully manual. The NHTSA has assisted car manufacturers with recalling EPAS systems prone to failure.[19]

Electric systems have an advantage in fuel efficiency because there is no belt-driven hydraulic pump constantly running, whether assistance is required or not, and this is a major reason for their introduction. Another major advantage is the elimination of a belt-driven engine accessory, and several high-pressure hydraulic hoses between the hydraulic pump, mounted on the engine, and the steering gear, mounted on the chassis. This greatly simplifies manufacturing and maintenance. By incorporating electronic stability control electric power steering systems can instantly vary torque assist levels to aid the driver in corrective maneuvers.[20]

The first electric power steering system appeared on the Suzuki Cervo in 1988.[21] The system has been applied by various automobile manufacturers.

Mornin' Fellas...

Between car repairs, birthday parties, and lawn work I got absolutely nothing done over the weekend. Called dealer about recall on TheQ's BMW today, taking it in tomorrow night for work on Wednesday. They are giving me a loaner. TheQ is going to Boston tomorrow for her third and final training session (hope she gets home OK on Thursday as the other two visits were nightmares getting home). She is heading to Munich in September to do a 3 day training at a company over there... she is looking forward to it, but disappointed I can't go as she won't do any sightseeing (unless one of the employees takes her around). Wish I could have gone, but Christina will be in school and I'm not taking a 6yo and 4yo on a transAtlantic flight!

Tired of my phone ringing and no one says anything when you answer. Bang Head

Afternoon gang!

Raining here as predicted. It's good.

RT - as I said elsewhere, I'm never gonna get back all those days spent fighting PCs and cell phones back.

Dennis & RT - airplanes are all fly by wire now. Same with cars. Airplanes have something like triple redundancy. Cars don't. Sticking with my old vehicles as long as I can.

Chief - hang in there Angel

DougnottaG - agree with you on Vista. Once they got it straightened out (service pack 2) it was a great operating system. I am still using it on my main PC. I hope Fri works out for you!

Morning all.

It's Monday ! For us retirees Bow , for our non-retirees Bang Head .

Kev/RT, I was happy, not being a computer geek, with Windows Vista but unfortunately most everybody quit supporting it. The BetterHalf has windows 10 on her laptop and if she has a problem I end up with a little more gray hair and gnashing of teeth as I try to help. I went to win 7 but still miss Vista. In my case "Guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks".

Looking forward to Friday, will be returning to museum and will see how it goes.

Prayers for Chief and all others in need.

Later all.

Just saw on the news where GM is recalling almost 700,000 Chevy Silverado's because a program problem with 2014 Chevy Silverado's. It has to do with power steering. Guess who has a 2014 Chevy silverado.

Good evening all,

Except for a "hiccup" around Albany NY, drive to Olean NY was uneventful. Should get home tomorrow. Weather fine. Did see a nice antique store and a toy and train museum in VT before we left. Speaking of Olean, I was telling wife about how I read about some old ALCOs being used in the area by a regional railroad and was hoping we might have a moment or two to look for them when WE DROVE RIGHT BY THEM! OMG! So cool. Will go back there in the morning to try to take some pictures. Almost made the whole trip worth it. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Morning all. A little dizzy but so far so good. Slept late as Wifey shut off the "master suite" from the dogs. Wiley walks on me if I try to sleep late. That is followed by Lucy sitting at the end of the bed and barking.

Breezy and nice for NC in August. May have a shower or two. ??? Tomorrow has a better chance. Actually dry again.

Banks, I could have a basement. Some right around me could not. Constantly blasting rock to do streets, sewer and water. Google Rolesville. It says granite. Rocks as big as a house sitting on top of the ground here.

OH. Dennis W tried to sign on and post. Had sign on problems. Hope they get them fixed. Miss the old guy.

Hope all have a great week ahead.

Gloom and cold here today. Won't hit 70. Strange weather for first week of August? Huh?

DougDG, I hear ya, They put me on something called Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim Tabs. They are big pills! I think it kills everything to from the way I feel. Surprise

No plans for today but I am getting way better on the foot and leg issue. Big Smile

Mornin' boys. Sunny & 64 here in the Potomac Highlands. Noon trip today.

Banks - Let's see...I had Wednesday off. Laugh The yatchett has too much keel for Deep Creek. I'd love to get a hold of a pretty wooden day-sailer for up here, but for now Wifey wants to motor-boat.

Don't...

Chief - The trick is not burning out.

Doug notta - I think nachos are good too.

cheapclassics - Sounds like you're doing it all. How is the family "truckster" holding up?

Evening all.

Made a quick visit to the museum yesterday, just to let all know that I'm still around. Planning on making it for the day next Friday, assuming the truss I ordered will hold the hernia in place.

Kev, During my last hospitalization for a UTI that developed sepsis they gave me Cipro and boy-o-boy that stuff is something else. Essentially it kills everything in the gi tract, took a week+ of probiotics to get it half way functional again.

Time for the nite time round of meds.

Buenos noches !

Good evening all,

Finally! A good day being a tourist. Don't laugh, but we went to the Calvin Coolidge Birthplace Historic site. They were having several extra activities there today which made it really worthwhile. One was a re-enactment of the first time Coolidge took office and having the oath sworn in by his dad by candlelight. Met two of the President's descendants. The complex is much more elaborate than anticipated as well. Weather was good and for once traffic was NOT an issue. If our other days had been like this one..... I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

This is a post I started last night. Tried everything on phone and tablet to post from a memo.Finaly used laptop to copy from the "other" forum and the Paste function worked. There used to be a button to click on to insert text.

Hello there, TGIF!!!!!! Had a nice long post almost done and this ÷/*><&#=_>00>5=%*,) tablet lost it. Gonna try to repeat it. This time starting as a memo. It's been quite a week. Made more interesting by Mom and the ER. She's more confused than ever. Hopefully it's not long til a room comes available for her at the personal care home that's accepted her. Hate to do that but more than one doc has said she'll be the demise of Mrs or I if we don't.
Mrs got a call today with the results of the CT from Wednesday . She has slight blockages in her coronary arteries. Better than I'd hoped for. We'll discuss options at our next appointment.
Work is slower but still hectic. Being plagued by high absenteeism and one of the better foreman off several weeks with bronchitis. My biggest problem is the only significant project we have. I knew we were behind but not how badly until a few weeks ago when I finally got time to take a close look. Many things I was told were complete were not. About the time I started pressuring the foreman he goes and gets himself on disability and disappeared. After many weeks of frantic effort we are almost caught up. The project is due to be turned over the 2nd week of October. Not sure where I'll be after that. Haven't bid any thing significant in months. There was a flurry after New Year's then nothing. Concensus is people are waiting to see what tax reform and health care are gonna bring. Boss is fighting pancreatic cancer. His family is upbeat but he looks and acts really bad. Not sure what his passing would do for me. His kids have no interest in the company. May end up retired before next September.
Chief.......it just dawned on me what's wrong with your addition. There's no basement??? I thought you are far enough in land to have one. Good luck with your blood issues. Glad it was caught early.
Rich.......good luck with the job. Maybe we'll see you on the Jersey version of GAS MONKEY GARAGE?
Fife......how many days a week are you putting in? Bummer about YORK .You were missed in April. Why not bring the Yatchet to Deep Creek????? 8N.......welcome back. Come more often. Ray and Doug.......good luck with your health issues.
Hudson.....quite the saga on the phone. Glad you got it resolved. I'll pm my number. Thought I had yours but can't find it. The mothballs seem to be still working here too. Good luck on your trip.
Dirt Drags this afternoon. Should be race 6 but only the 3rd due to weather. Starting therapy Monday morning. Hope it doesn't hurt to much. Son cut about 120 bushel of oats this week. Did pretty good for the small field he had planted. Maybe bale the straw this weekend if it dries out. Crashed last night rewriting this. Awake now cause internal alarm says time to get up. Gonna post it and try to catch a few more zzzs

Prayers for those in need

Your right SJ, the doctor told me it can get bad and fast. That is why she marked off the infected area with a marker and said if it grows I have to go back on Monday or sooner. So far so good. The meds do upset my guts though. Tongue Tied

Full sun but a north wind makes it feel chilly. 75 for today.

Cellulitis put me in the hospital, I didn't know what it was and like Kevin thought it woulld go away. It is an infection that can spread so keep an eye on it.
