Mornin' boys.

Well, Henry came back early last night.  Wifey was squeeling like a little girl, and my buddy was jazzed about seeing a black bear on his first visit.  One of the neighbors popped off a round to shoosh him away.  He was even more about his ride in a GP30.  He treated my family to dinner at Ruby Tuesday.

88 - Tom asked about you.

Dougnotta - Good luck with this newest malady.  You certainly have had your share.  Enjoy those tall masties.

Good evening all,

Very very very quiet day at work again.  Did get some things done.  "My" soccer girls had another rough night.  Lost 12-0.  They have no speed, very few players with any foot skills, going to be a looooonnnnggggg season.  As I told a couple of them after the game, it may not be going the way they hoped it would, but at least they are playing the beautiful game and not sitting on their posteriors at home playing video games.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Afternoon all!

A balmy 88 and nice breezes. 85 high tomorrow and 61 tomorrow night!

Spent the last few days doing chores. Replaced a bunch of trim after a re-carpeting a couple of years ago. Then replaced a broken glass baluster on the deck, which required disassembling the railing. Of course I needed to touch up some areas I couldn't reach when we originally stained it. Then on to a broken window in the basement That I needed to install (had the glass). And then found two more rock chipped windows that are double panes so I will have to order those. All 4 broken by the lawn service mower throwing rocks - argh!

Relaxing with an adult beverage now. Plan to enjoy the cool evening and maybe take the boat out.

Dennis - hope the shoot was fun.

Dougnotta - oh man - hope that is a minor thing - Angel. I need to call my sister in Houston. They are under alert.

Mike C - keep hoping for your teams to pull it together!

Chief - lets all hope for subs!

SJ - what, About 60 miles to Toledo? 100 miles and you can get to Sandusky and be smack in the middle of it! You will need an aluminum suit for that!

Good morning dudes & dudettes !

Like Dennis said, this gorgeous weather, only 80 yesterday, is coming to an end. Well up into triple digits starting Sunday. SDG&E = $$$$.

Fife, Tall ships are in port. Thumbs Up

Roy, The amount of rain that they are talking about down around Corpus Christie, thanks to Harvey, is mind boggling.

Yesterday was the 9 month ct since cancer surgery. Said something showed up that wasn't there three months ago. Additional testing to follow but the worst part is that I was scheduled  for the hernia repair surgery on 9/5 but now it appears that it will be delayed til who knows when. Super Angry

Time to finish prepping my goodies for the museum tomorrow.

Later all.

Good evening all,

Very very very quiet day at work.  Nice weather for noon walk.  Found out junior high team got pounded 7-0 Tuesday night.  Ouch! Get to watch high school girls get shellacked tomorrow.  Oh joy, oh rapture!  Quiet night at home.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning.  Hope all are OK.  Hot and humid.  Cold front this afternoon which may cause storms.

Fifey, get that under control.  Mine was extra low yesterday.  Dr. took twice.  Puttering along.

Additon coming along.  If subs show up, will get it done.  I hear one now.

Have a good one.

Roy I will save my aluminum hat I think it saved us from the aliens that were hiding behind the moon. Nearest spot for the next total eclipse will be Toledo Oh. Sun all week cooler temps in the 70s.

Morning,

My day ain't starting out to good either Fife.

New BP pills ain't cutting it. I am at 157/97 with pulse rate of 80 when I get up and only down to 121/76 but with pulse rate of 90 by night. On top of that I am agitated to. They told me there is a national shortage of the stuff I was on that worked. Same stuff Submmbob takes.

What the heck?

Morning gang!

A few clouds, temps will go into the 80's later today and into the weekend due to the cool front. Maybe some 60's at night. Nice!

Rob - too funny!

Mike C - a better day today hopefully!

Fife - never miss the trash - but steaks make it better - some steak for Fifepup?

Dennis - yes - isn't life interesting! We just had some feuding neighbors suddenly hug and make nice...

Brent - the problem with the government dumping money all at once for infrastructure means every city tears up all roads at the same time with no thought to making sure there are alternate routes not torn up at the same time. It is extremely aggravating.

SJ - take good care of yourself and your al hat. The April 8 2024 Eclispe path of totality is just a few miles south of Detroit!

V8Vega

Lion 88 where do you live? They narrowed a major road here and put in bike lanes in a beach city which caused a major traffic jam daily and want to do it all over LA.

I live in MD, but I grew up in Pittsburgh. I was there this past weekend for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary party. Worst traffic conditions I have ever witnessed in 30 years of driving.

Fife - tell Tom I said Hi! I gotta carve out some time and just make a trip.

Mornin' boys.  Mostly sunny and 69 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Day didn't start off good as I missed the garbage man (even though FifeMax tried to get me up).  Hello "Henry"...

Hopefully things will change come noon, because my good buddy Tom is paying his first visit to the new Fifedom.  Can't wait to show him the house, the new layout under construction, and then I'll take him on the "Ain't seen that before tour".

Steaks on the grill tonight.

Good evening all,

Very disappointing day at work.  Some anticipated good news did not occur.   Math does not always work the same way.  Weather was cooler but still sticky for walk.  Watched "my" soccer boys get another goal, but still lost 6-1.  Girls are down 4 players due to concussions.   Days like today are not fun.  I hope everyone has a good day.

88 - We just go out on the back deck and bear-watch at dusk.  Usually we just see deer, big deer, trailing down the mountain.  We're about 1100 ft above sea level, 500 feet below the top of Knobley.  BTW, has Pittsburgh traffic ever been good...?

'Good' is relative. For the most part you can get around rather easily if you know the back and side roads. This past weekend was absolutely attrocious. Worst I've ever seen it. The Liberty Tunnel was closed, work on I279 and I579 with lane restrictions, same out by the airport. Then they did temporary road closures around the Fort Pitt Bridge and Tunnel... just major jams everywhere. Then to top it all off, downtown they have started putting up posts infront of the traffic signs, so you can't see which lane to be in before you are right on top of the sign... just lovely. And their new mayor has started narrowing roads in order to build bike lanes! As if the roads through downtown were not narrow enough to begin with.

Yeah I knew we wouldn't have a full eclipse, but I thought it have been a bit darker. It just looked a bit overcast. I had to laugh at the Mrs. though. When I got home from work the entire house was on lock down! Curtains closed, dog in the crate. She didn't think you were even allowed outside!! Laugh

Eclipse was 80% here so daylight dim but it didn't get dark. I was glad to take off my aluminum hat after it was over.

Cloudy today, 80s with rain expected.

Fife - Use any liquid smoke fluid and put 8 - 12 drops through the little tube in the smoke stack and let it sit several hours, then turn the engine upside down onto a paper towel.  If no fluid comes out repeat the process.  When you get to the point where some fluid drains out when inverted, the wick is saturated.

If power is applied to a dry wick it will quickly burn out either the wick or the heating element.  The smoke units are pretty tough, but if need can be repaired easily.  The 303 and it's earlier version the 302 is one of my favorite goto engines.

Was waiting for the eclipse this morning but it came and went and I didn't see a darn thing here in Southern California.  Kind of like Haley's comet I guess.  Didn't see that either.

Evening all!

Eclispe was 100% for 85 seconds here in TN. It was awesome. Watched the corona with the naked eye. Temp drop was impressive. Projected the rest of it on a small screen with the telescope my brother and I had as kids.

If I make it another 7 years (April 8 2024) our home in Dallas is also on the path of totality.

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work.  Some organizational changes coming that may make life better and some other possibilities as well.  Did a rare road game (15 minutes away) to see the junior high kids play.  I think they are relying too much on speed and athleticism and not enough on team play to carry them and they lost 3-1 to a team with superior team skills.  Weather has been hot.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello there,

twas only 70% here. Sunlight looked like early morning or late evening. Forgot to throw welding hood in the car this morning so didn't try to look at it. Not sure what all the hype was about. Worse than snowmageden.

Prayers for those in need

The eclipse was only 90% here so it never got dark but it was kind of cool to see. The weather broke just in time to see the best of it. Yes

Good Afternoon from a hot 97° & 45% humidity Southern Ohio,

My bride and the kids have their eclipse glasses and boxes ready.  I made a box at work and will check out the eclipse as time allows.

Busy weekend as always.  I had to move the pole for the basketball goal in preparation for the ground work for the garage.  A angle grinder made short work of the pole after some PB Blaster on the bolts to remove the backboard.  While the pole and backboard are down we’ll repaint them.  Grass cutting and chopped out 6 or 8 stumps.  Saturday was spent getting the tools in the garage.  Mechanic and wood working tools separated.  Everything in straight lines, graduated sizes separated by metric and SAE; then wood working tools by function and frequency of use.  I guess I’m OCD, but getting the tools reorganized so as to easily find them is very satisfying, and I think it looks really cool.

Banks – with both you mom and your bride needing your attention you are going to be real busy.

Fife – are you using American Flyer S gauge track?  The K line works good too.  A slight bend say 10° on both in the same direction on a horizontal plane, not up or down helps make for a good connection.  The 303 is a great little engine.  Make sure you wet the wick before running to soften up the wick and prevent burn out.  As you know the reverse unit can be touchy especially adjusting the fingers.

Break is about over, I’m going to check out the sun with my eclipse box.

May God bless

Jim

Mornin' Fellas

I really HATE being a landlord! My tenant pays ontime, but she doesn't pay attention to the house's condition AT ALL! She worries about keeping the interior clean, but could care less if the exterior falls down around her??? Got some major work that needs to be done to the front porch now. Bang Head

Fife - I know you got this thing with the bear covered. I like Kev's trail cam idea. Smile

Banks - prayers for your Mom... that can't be easy.

Spent Saturday in Pittsburgh for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. If you don't HAVE to go to Pittsburgh - don't! They are doing major road work on nearly every major road in the area... what a disaster! If you don't know your way around and you make a wrong turn - forgetaboutit! But Hey - maybe they'll build a few more bike lanes while they are at it!

Hello there,

quite a weekend. Shortly after my post Friday AM Mrs fell going down the stairs. Thankfully it was 1 or 2 from the bottom.

Although gimpy she sent me to PT and work. I had a bid to get out. After it went I called to check on her. The urgent care said she had a broken pinky and a small bone in her foot and refered us to ortho doc. They gave her air cast/boot and said come back in a week.

At the drags yesterday we had some performance issues and ended up with a 3rd and 2nd. We also ran a special "dial in" class for any size machine with a rider under 13. Grandson got 2nd losing only because he was staged to deep and red lighted.

Today was Mrs family reunion. The caregiver we had lined up backed out due to illness and we opted to take mom along. Not a good plan as she had a mild TIA and was pretty confused the whole time.

Fife......more pictures

Dozing off here.

Prayers for those in need

Wow! Roy that looks like a fun thing to do.  Kind of like sky diving without jumping out of a plane.

The swelling in my feet has gone down enough to get my shoes on again thankfully.  Still needs to go down more but headed in the right direction.

V8, You have had more dental work than I have heard of.  Sorry you're dealing with all that.  I never tried implants.  I'm probably too old by now.

Went out for spaghetti and meat balls last night.  Had enough left over for dinner tonight and still some left.  No wonder America is fat.  They give you such huge portions.  I call my favorite place, "The home of the Wide Load"  Of course, no one held a gun on me to eat it.

Heard Jerry Lewis passed away.  Thought he was pretty funny when he first appeared in the movies with Dean Martin.  That was a different type of comedy back then.  More like slap stick.  Now they just use a lot of bad language or make fun of politicians.  I'll admit, they have a lot to work with these days.
