Good afternoon from overcast 72°F Southern Ohio,

The contractors are still digging for the garage.  They have moved a bunch of hard packed clay despite a few days of rain.  They are taking the removed dirt and filling in an area next to the existing garage to make a larger flat area that currently was a fairly steep bank.  We’ll have a large enough area for a nice picnic area and fire pit.

I stayed very busy by getting my tools organized in the existing garage, rewiring one of the outdoor post lamps, burned five brush piles and built a bridge across a ditch/creek with cross ties.  I was glad to get to work to let the body rest and recover.

Gabriel our grandson we’re raising, played his first varsity football game Saturday.  As a freshman he never left the field of play.  We have a small team of 17 boys and 8 of them are freshman.  They lost, but they never quit trying.  I was proud of them.

Banks – congrats on the Gilbert HO.

Jim – Congrats on the 315, I love the sidearm action on that engine.

May God bless

Jim

Good evening all,

Fifedog, thanks for congrats.  Quiet day.  Wife and I did jigsaw puzzle and watched "The Birds".  I found out my official time and placing in the 5k.  44 minutes even and 202 out of 503.  Top half of the field is not bad.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Glad you got it to work RT,

Been so long ago I don't recall how that place works. I think I only did copy and paste. Don't think I ever used the Insert Image box???

Never have here on CTT

I got it to work but it takes a bit. this is the only way I could get it work. I tried just about everything. Open the picture you want on shutterfly, then right click on that picture, then click on open in new tab, then copy that web address and click on the picture symble in the other forum post box and insert the address you just copied from shutterfly.

RT, Been so long since I was there( if you are talking about the other pot ) I don't recall but I think it worked the same at both. Try Copy Image Location then paste it see if that works.

Here it just puts a link out there.

Something else you can try is just copy the jpeg file from your PC file and paste it to that forum and see if that works.

Banks, Try this.

When it is open in Shutterfly, Right click on it "copy image" then it will paste into CTT

Hope this helps. It is the way I have always done it.

Yes it works. But I am using a PC not a dumb phone. So don't know about that?

Tried to reply on the other forum but guess I am still banned by the powers to be.

Huh?

Roy, Glad to here you guys and your sister are OK.  Don't know anyone living in the hard hit area, but hate to see anyone's lives turned upside down like happens when these storms hit.  Stay safe.

Finally heard from my sister and BIL. They are ok but water is over the street curbs and to the sidewalk. They are moving things up high and making sure any electrical stuff that is low is secure and off. Will kill the power if it gets to the house floor level. Warned them to not go wade in the water. 60+ yr old neighborhood and street light power is below ground. The only warning one gets about electricity in the water is a dead person.

Morning.  Sunny and cooler.

PRAYERS for Texas.  Fishing forum buddy in Huston reports street flooded, back yard flooded and garage flooded.  Says he has never had water in house before.  Pray it doesn't ever get that high.

Hope all are OK.  Undestand Doug has hurt his back.  Prayers.

Resting today as took meds late last night.

Hope all have a safe and great week ahead.

Good morning folks!

No word from my sister this am, but the old neighborhood has never had water closer than the front yards since it was built in the mid-50's.

Good evening all,

And a good day it was.  Did the 5k in under 44 minutes, which is not great, but respectable.  Watched "my" soccer boys get 3 goals in a 14-3 loss.  "My" soccer girls did what I expected with an 8-0 loss.  The junior high team won 6-1.  Indy 11 lost 3-2, but the best news was late in the day as Conor Daly got a P5 and Munoz got a P9 for AJ's team!   Best weekend for the team in a long, long time.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

I certainly agree Fife, at least use a sharpie and put your name and SS#on your forearm. Very difficult to fix stupid, not sure there is a cure.

Evening all!

86 and very warm today.

The ms and I went to a car show today. Some nice rides but this was an Antique Automobile Collectors Assoc show. I do not consider an 88 Corvette an antique, but that's just me.

Spoke with my sister in Houston. They live in SW Houston inside the 610 loop down the street from the house we grew up in. Only about 10 in of rain and they went to the grocery store around noon. Still remains how much flooding they will get. If the rain they are discussing is spread out over the next several days there will not be problems except for those that insist on staying in flood prone areas.

Fife, you will appreciate - I liked what the Rockport mayor said - if you insist on staying then write your name and SS number with a Sharpie on your arm so we can identify your remains quickly. On the coast in recent years during these storms residents are being told if you stay when we told you to leave we will not endanger first responders lives to rescue you - as it should be.

88 - We just go out on the back deck and bear-watch at dusk.  Usually we just see deer, big deer, trailing down the mountain.  We're about 1100 ft above sea level, 500 feet below the top of Knobley.  BTW, has Pittsburgh traffic ever been good...?

Phish - Yep, just old AF 2-rail.  What am I wick-wetting with?

Fife,

All this talk of bears and Deep Creek reminds me of the night I camped there earlier this summer.  Heard some rather concerning sounds through the night, and felt like I was going to be something's midnight snack.

Oh, check out the Christmas Chalet if you haven't yet.  Lots of Department 56.

Brent,

I was in Mt. Airy recently on the way back from the beach.

Phish,

Just picked up a nice 315 K5 in the wrapper.

Morning.  Sunny and cool.  Got a 1 PM picnic at New Bethel Church.  Then I'll mow.  Didn't get to yesterday as took Wifey to Lowes for garden department sale.  Then FIL's for B'day party [he didn't know poor guy].

Think I miss read.  Thought Fifey had the BP problem.  Seems it is Kev.  High BP is dangerous.  Work on it.  Mine was 110 over 58 Thursday.  Dr. was concerned getting too low.  Just relaxed.  You "thunk".

All have a great weekend.

Rob we must not live too far apart if you were at the Lions game. They had a good come from behind then fell apart.

Sun today, 70s. last few night have been cool, feel's like fall no matter how hard I try to slow August down.

Morning all!

A beautiful 60ish "Fall" morning here! I could handle this and maybe a smidge warmer all year round.

I saw pre-season football at Ford Field last might with the Mrs. Her Patriots just squeaked out a win over the Lions. It's certainly different watching a pre-season game though. It was pretty much a scrimmage with the practice squads by the 4th quarter!! Big Smile

Roy - Even though you're not near the coast, you better batten down the hatches! I was looking at the radar this morning and Harvey doesn't appear to be letting up. I lived near Galveston for a bit when I was younger and I still remember the storm we had. Not nearly as bad as Harvey, but it was still a doozy.

Have a great day and prayers to those in need, especially in Texas.

Hello there,

continued prayers for those in the path of Harvey

another week in the books. Work is calming a bit. Actually bid 2 jobs this week. Both small but something.

Doug....praying it's not the big C again

Fife. .....maybe you should watch Alaska  Bush People reruns to learn bear deterants.

Kev........tay on top of the blood presure. Some of those drug have wierd effects. Learned that the hard way

PT continues. Postop doc visit said I'm doing good.PT this week got a little more aggressive each time. Takes a few hours for the shoulder to calm down.

At Mrs follow up she was told to keep wearing the boot and come back in 4 weeks.

Had a guy here this AM to give me a quote to replace the house roof and turn the back porch into a laundry /mud room.

Dirt Drags later today. Hopefully the rest of the weekend is R&R and cleaning up the house a bit.

I did get on the Bay the other day a fairly hard to find Gilbert HO engine at a really good price. Even if it doesn't run it's worth twice what I paid. If it runs I really got a bargain.

Best move on.

Prayers for those in need

From a former LEO perspective, don't even get me started about people who stay put when a hurricane, particularly a CAT4, is bearing down on them...

Good evening all,

Another quiet day.  Closed out the month.  Walk was very nice today.  The "scenery" was especially good today.  Watched Indycar qualifying on live stream from Indycar website.  Best qualifying effort by Foyt team all season with 8th and 11th on the grid.  Two top tens are possible with a top five or a podium not unreasonable.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Evenin' Y'all.

Wow, Harvey grew to a Cat 4. Prayers for all the residents in the danger zone. Hope they were smart and got the heck far away from the coast.

Museum went well today, even the DCS gremlins were on hiatus.

Dennis, The BetterHalf and I spent quite a bit of time discussing the hernia options. Mine has caused a great deal of discomfort and sometimes a lot of pain. We figured to go ahead and do a "planned" surgery as opposed to rolling the dice and hoping that nothing went bad in the future resulting in a frenzied trip to the ER. But now that is on hold. Grumpy

However the newest issue is the possibility that my cancer has come back. Now the discussion that I want to have with the appropriate people is the risk that a biopsy brings or to go ahead and surgically remove the masses in questiion. Either way as that famous philosopher said "Git er done!" Clown

Getting tired, later all.

Good morning,
Looks like Harvey is going to be the news for the next few days. Already interviewing people who are not going to higher and dryer ground.  Dots - Sign  So then they will want to be rescued.  Angry  Prayers for the rest of those in the path. Angel
Well all the wood I got is split, Sure was nice to work with our neighbor Butch. It went smooth.  Only about 20% of my wood was no good. All of the wood at the other neighbors Jim’s is bad that I was going to use to fill up the shed.  So, after all that work and the north side of the shed is only about 35% full and I don’t have any more good wood to split. Too bad I could not have harvested it last year. It would have still been good then but that fall down the stairs kept me from doing any wood last year.  Bang Head
DougDG, Prayers that the spot gets good news you have been through enough already.
Roy, I would be having a talk to the lawn service about that .
Chief, red hots and eggs for breakfast???? Huh?

WOW no one since I posted this morning.
 Got some bad news today.
Our neighbor Brain has some sort of chest / lung  cancer. Won't know till he gets results of next Tuesday's biopsy
I will let you know what happens once I find out. Say a prayer for him guys.

Made a new shrimp scampi dish on rice tonight I have not done before. It was good. Yes  Dinner

Grand-kids will not come over tomorrow because Jordan has Streptococcus again. New school,,, new germs!!!     Bang Head  Sucks to be a little kid. Tongue Tied

Morning all!

64 this morning and maybe just 82 today. Spoke to my sister in Houston last night. Unknown at this time if Harvey will linger over Corpus Christi or turn up the coast towards Houston. Lingering/slow moving storms are the worst for flooding as they just keep dumping rain faster than it can run back into the ocean.

Finished two glass projects, but found another rock chipped window. The two chipped windows are double pane so I cannot just go get a piece of glass from Lowes.

So now have two double pane windows with rock chips from the mower in the outer pane. Looked online and might be able to use a windshield glass chip repair kit?

Regards, Roy
