Good evening all,

Busy day at work.  Found out what happens when you have clueless people involved in important discussions....nothing good!!  Very long story that the retelling would only raise my blood pressure even more.   Weather was good for walk.  Supposed to be wet and cool tomorrow.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

HEY.....Quick fly by - again as the software ate my post

Roy - Money guys got the Pro Tree, Trophy guys got 3 ambers and the big green light

On the Lionel Catalog, I'm running like a man a-fire to my train store to FINALLY get a sub $350 Blue Comet with sound and fan smoke....Say what you want, this is a great deal, since the priors were Legacy/TMCC or Sound(static) of Steam.

I'll just need the correct semi-scale 6 truck passenger cars and I'll be HA-PPY!!

Getting cloudy now, was sunny and LOW 80s...

Gotta go, work is screaming at me once again...

Good evening all,

Well the boys lost 5-0 Tuesday night and the junior high 6-2 on Monday night.  Today was quiet this morning but incredibly busy this afternoon.  Some interesting projects coming down the pike possibly.  Muggy on the walk at noon.  Quiet night at home.  Roy, congrats on retirement!  Brent, enjoy that "All-American" sport with your daughter.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

I will! I played for years till my parents made me quit when I got braces (don't get me started), played center defense and mid-field if needed. Also played little league baseball, then football in HS. As long as she shows interest she'll be there, won't force them to do anything they aren't interested in. Smile May volunteer to be an assistant coach... we'll see.

Well the sports season of the year starts in 2 days. Been looking forward to it since January!

Mornin' All.

Who left the furnace on !!!!! 107* yesterday and supposed to be this way thru the weekend. What makes it worse there is some humidity as well, not our normal dry air.

Got my Halloween 0-6-0 sent out for repair, the board was cooking itself. Just a trace of smoke followed by that delitefully acrid smell. As long as I have it back for the Halloween garage layout. Assuming I can do one this year, if not I'm going to be really bummed out.

Lionel and MTH both came out with Halloween steam this year, don't like either one of them. Frankly I think the docksider is the best of the bunch. Now if MTH would do a 4-6-0 , ala the Lionel Halloween 4-4-0 I would be awfully tempted to spring for one.

Breakfast done, time for morning meds.

Later

Mornin' Fellas

Chilly here in MD. Forecast for the next 10 days has us out of the 70s 2 maybe 3 days. Nights are down into the 50s. Never seen it this cool in August/September. Hoping it stays like this! Took Christina for new soccer cleats last night, ended up with new cleats and new shin guards (got her the ones that just slip into the socks because the ones with the ankle pads and the strap around the back just annoyed her. She was upset that they aren't pink, so thinking of heading to ACE tonight for some pink Krylon. Whistling Can't believe she starts 1st grade on Tuesday.

The mess in Houston is simply unfathomable for me. I doubt the pictures do it even 1% justice.

Morning all!

This week is my last week "on the job". Good way to go into "Labor Day" weekend dontcha think! So those of yuz still working, I and SS thank you!!!!

Sister and BIL sorting stuff in their garage. They had 2" of water in it and it is not stuffed as they could park their cars in it, but some things still got wet. Two major storm (only) reservoirs, Addicks and Barker, WNW of Houston hit their max capacity zero-to-410,000 acre-ft of water in 3 days and are overflowing the first time in their 70 year history. So water is flowing over the spillways uncontrolled. Corps of Enginners said is will take months to empty them once water in the watershed stops flowing in. Corps said house in the areas below the spillway may have water in them for months.

Spent all day yesterday installing new cables in the boat house for the waverunner lift. I am beat, so it will be an easy day today.

SJ - many shelters in the Houston area are overloaded. TX National Guard were flying folks in the areas east of Houston from the Galveston airport to San Antonio and Dallas.

Foggy, it will be in the 70s after the fog lifts.

It was unreal the way that storm stalled over Houston and just kept dumping rain on them. Hopefully Houston won't look like New Orleans after this is over. The difference being Katrina victims were evacuated out of state. I don't think Texas did that.

V8Vega

2nd time typing with this screwball software.

I did my daily walk with my dogs this morning at 7:30 and it was still real hot. Normally we go around noon.

How about that!!!!!!!  Use to be fun typing this one.  Why I don't visit like I use to.  Something all the time.

Morning.  Partly cloudy and cooler.  Siding guys banging away.  Addition has rooms [drywall up].

Prayers for Texas and LA.  Also those north as Harvey will move that way.  Hope it dies out.

Have a good one.

Evening all!

Heavy rain finally ended for my sister and BIL in Htown. Harvey finally moving on.

Anj - were they using the full tree or Pro-light? I hated the pro-light, preferred the countdown.

Good evening all,

Traffic made us late for work today.  Did not go for walk as only had half hour for lunch.  "My" soccer girls finally got a win 4-0!  Was there for all 4 scores as well.  Lots of rain last night.  Not as much as Houston obviously.  I am with Robmcc on Lionel catalog.  Absolutely nothing that is a must have.  If I was not so heavily invested in O-31 Lionel, American Flyer would be my choice if I was starting out now.  Prices are lower and all their engines (even in sets) can use conventional power.  Hmmm....  Not much else going on.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Evening all. Wow, I still can't believe the pictures coming out of the Houston area. What frustrates me is all of the social media with the dogs tied up in the yard with water up to their necks!!! Put the cameras down and help them!! Ugh.... Prayers to those in the Houston and Gulf coast area. Been there. Sad

Looked at the Lionel 2017 Volume 2 catalog...... meh

Sir James -  forgot to respond back. Yes, I live near Port Huron. The Lions did make a game of it in the second half. Rudock looked good, but that's what you expect from an ex-Wolverine. GO BLUE!

Fife - Yep, I understand that...more work for us, banging on doors, the house to house search, yup, I'm good.....

Prayers for T-Hass....

MikeC - Ditto on Fifers statement, very informative, yeah, us train people think alike, no doubt.

Mopar Weekend was great, just missed burning rubber with the boys, maybe next year...weather was condusive to low ET's and close racing, too bad a lot of those didn't know how to react to a Christmas tree....wow....

Off to Seaside Sunday for a small respite.  I need it, solo for sure and the kids will be stopping by to visit, which I welcome.

AND speaking of which, the Consort spent Sunday night and Monday with the recruiter in Cherry Hill, NJ - might we have a sailor in our midst?  We shall see.

Would love to chat more, but the rat race is starting to catch up so I gotta go back.

See ya in a bit!

Prayers for all of Texas and LA.  Storm coming back ashore and headed north.  Specially for Roy's sister.

Hope all OK.

Don's "fix" for power supply for layouts is great and cheap.

My sister and BIL woke up today to continuing rain, but no flooding, the big bayou a few streets away had receded 8 ft, and they still have power.

Been doing cleanup projects around the house.

At the end of this month I will be officially retired! Medicare starts Oct 1 !

Mornin' Fellas

Spent Saturday driving to and back from Calvert Cty MD. They were supposed to have a hot air balloon festival from 1 - 9pm. We arrived @ 3:00 and there was only 1 hab and it was on its side 1/2 inflated. So we turned around and headed home (stopped at a couple produce stands and got some okra) then stopped at FiL's for dinner. Made some fried okra, white corn, ginger butter shrimp, and grilled hawaiian bbq chicken... belly was full. Smile Got home @ 9pm to find out the hab fest actually had 5 habs that went up after 5... Bang Head

Then spent Sunday cutting down a dead 40ft+ oak tree. That went off without a hitch, and kids had fun watching it come down with a loud BOOM. Smile After I was done I noticed 4 more that need to be dropped. I will probably cut them into 6 ft logs so they won't rot as fast. Still have over a 2/3 cord of wood from last year. So hopefully won't need to buy any this winter and what I cut on Sunday I can split for next year.

Prayers for Texas!

Good morning,

61 heading to 73 with thick fog, un-seasonably cool for here. Rain ended last night. Did not get much. They only have one day in the next ten that it will get into the 80s

On 2 of those new pills a day now. BP is way better but I still don't like them.

Prayers for the folks in TX. and LA. Angel

Wife and I have been there on the high water back in 1996. We had 32" of water in the garage and the house. Nothing feels worse than when you are in the middle of a muddy lake. . You can't do anything but wait. Tongue Tied

Hello there,

another day closer to retirement.

Prayers for Texas.

Got the latest CTT. Pretty thin. Frustrating because they keep putting out  $$$$ special issues while we pay more for less.

Best move on.

Prayers for those in need.

Evening all!

Sister and BIL survived the night. I did not hear from them until noon today. Water made it into the garage and then receded. Rain was light overnight and by morning the street was no longer flooded. Power was restored at noon. The bad news is the storm strengthened and started dumping rain again all afternoon and this evening. So this evening/night will determine if the runoff cannot keep up. The water yesterday is the highest ever seen in the old neighborhood.

We have friends we were able to reach in Sugarland TX that were told to voluntarily evacuate, except the authorities sort of forgot to determine if there was a way out. However, there is no way out due to flooded roads. They said the news will report a highway is open and then a few minutes later report it closed.

At this time there is no reliable way out. You could leave home and get stranded. Years back when my wife and I were living there, folks had to just leave their vehicles on the interstate overpasses to avoid loosing their car on the off ramps and access roads which may have 3 ft of water in a bad storm.

Here is a recently posted great old movie short that describes most of us! Or it is a reveal for the Chiefs new addition!
