Good evening all,

Good weather today.  Got 8.6 miles in today....all walking.  Averaged 3.777 MPH so that was not too bad.  Got to watch the sounds of F-1 today.  US based team (HAAS) got a point for 10th.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mornin' Fellas

Was an awesome weekend for College Football. Alabama started the day off with a convincing win over Texas A&M, then PSU upset #2 OSU! Took me a bit to wind down to be able to sleep Saturday night. Yesterday The Steelers proved once again that then really need to draft a quality backup for Big Ben. Tired of them saying "Oh Landry Jones is a viable backup, no need to worry." Yeah, and monkeys can be taught to shovel ____ but that doesn't mean they are good at it!

Banks - Prayers for the Mrs. My renter texted me on Saturday and said they found a mass within one of her's. Really hope and pray it turns out to be nothing to worry about, she is a single mother of 3 and a very nice woman.

We may hear from Fife later today or tomorrow when he gets hooked up to the modern world again... but knowing him he doesn't miss the computer all that much. Smile

Roy - Attics are for ventilation to keep the house cooler in the Summer, basements are for trains, man caves, work shops, etc. Sheds are for lawn equipment storage, work shops, and wood storage. My father stores his firewood in the basement under his garage... never quite thought that was safe, but safer than storing 100 cardboard boxes in an attic. Seen a few house fires that started in the attic and with all that cardboard = tinderbox!

Leaves are starting to drop... yeah my least favorite part of Fall. Means I'll be mowing the leaves 2 - 3 times per week till Mother Nature is done blowing them all over creation!

Oh yeah - in case I forgot to mention it... PSU beat OSU! Wink

Yes Brent you did mention that Penn beat the Buckeyes...Smile

We all saw the game and know why they won by 3 points.

But a win is a win and it counts.

Morning all. Off work today because I think I "tweaked" my ACL during hockey yesterday. :( I'm going to get it checked out later today, but it's still quite tender. Maybe it's a sign to hang 'em up and stop reliving my childhood. Thank you Penn State!! My Wolverines are #2!! Sir James - still holding out on the furnace! I'm being stubborn. Roy - it's one of those things those in the south don't need to deal with. (jealous!) Prayers to all in need.

Good Morning from beautiful Southern Ohio,

It is a little over cast and cool, in the mid 50’s.  No furnace yet.  We’ll see how long we can hold out.

It was a good and busy weekend.  Doing yardwork to get things cleaned up.  Borrowed my neighbor’s new backpack leaf blower and fell in love with it.  It is a Husqvarna 150BT.  He offered to sell it because it was bigger than he needed and I bought it about half of the new price.  Train budget back to $0.  Saturday night we took the kids and several friends to a Halloween scare the bejeebers out of you.  It was well done and the kids enjoyed it.

Robmcc – we do not heal a quick as we used to!

Banks – I’m adding Mrs Banks to my daily prayers

Fife – When is the house warming party?

Joe – I was introduced to Skyline in 1978 when my upon graduation bride to be was going to Nursing School in Cincinnati.  I think it was one of the original restaurants.

May God bless

Jim

Evening all. Chilli-mac on menu for supper. Big Smile Had two V.A. apointments today. Been taking it easy since. Got a early 80's set in today I won on the bay ( yes I know it is DC) the James Gang set. Actually like it more now than when I won it. Appears never to have been used. Was missing the shack but found one on line also so it now is complete. In original box. Nice addition to my collection.

Other thanthat no real train news for today. About time to eat so talk to you all later

Very good day at work as both pains were gone.  Good weather for walk.  RT, the james Gang is one of the finest DC sets Lionel ever made.   Very nice set, and I run mine every once in a while.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Mike was going to use it for resale at wife's booth in the vintage mall she has but decided to keep it. So it's up above the closet in my train cubboard (LOL) for a later day.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 41 from Short Gap, West-by-God-Virginia!!!  Hard to believe it's been 3 weeks without internet.  BTW, you really do get a lot more done when you are off the grid...

Getting settled into the new fifedom slooooowwwwwly but surely.  Lots of cleaning and shuffling things around.  We were living on beach chairs until the new furniture arrived Friday.  Still have to order more.  Due to family events, including my mom having a mild heart attack, it's been difficult keeping one's nose to the grindstone.  Wifey wants a lot done, but she sees I've been stretched thin this week.

Shocking thing from this whole ordeal was that I was able to overload 2 (two) 10-yard dumpsters with stuff.  I was embarrassed that I had accumilated that much stuff to be discarded.  Unfortunately, the layout became part of that pile.  Just couldn't fit any of it in the POD.  So, when the time comes,  I shall begin all anew.

That's all for now.  Gotta get caught up on the Coffee Pot.  Missed you folks.

Aloha. World Series begins tonight - a big deal here in Chicago. Though the media is acting like there hasn't been a Series here in 71 years - just another reminder the White Sox aren't on anyone's radar screen... Glad you're back online, Fife, and moving in. Prayers for your mom's recovery, and Linda's mom. . .Hang in there, DJ.

Mornin' Fellas

HE'S BAAACCCKKK! Wink

Welcome back Fife!

Yes you do get a lot more done when off the grid! Well, unless you are trying to fix your connection to the grid - in which case you get nothing accomplished!

I received a letter from Comcast last Thursday that I would be receiving a new gateway as the one I had from them was having issues. Well all weekend internet was spotting and WIFI was even worse. Made TheQ very upset because she had a business plan meeting on Saturday with her ASQ board, and she was prepping for an FDA Audit at NCI (Google NCI Dunleavy - look for the Washington Post article and not the Wall Street Journal). Anyhooo the new gateway arrived yesterday and I got it all setup and working... or so I thought... when TheQ got home and tried to use her laptop she wasn't able to connect to the internet... three hours later and I found one of the range extenders' firmware is out-of-date and when the new gateway came up it lost connection and could not reset itself. Everything is working now... well this morning when I tried to log onto work I didn't have a network connection - appears one of the network ports on the new gateway is dead... I'll deal with another day.

BTW - have I mentioned that I really dislike computers? Super Angry

Not much else going on... gotta run.

Hello all

Up at work for the first full week of the season. Getting things turned on and ready to take data.

Found a stray dog on the road on the mountain. Took it down a found a place for it for the night. It was fortunately reunited w/ it's owners yesteday.

Hope too take care of a few little things on the motorhome this next week off. Need to put a clutch master cylinder in the Datsun. Was driving the Corvan around for a couple days and it did fine.

Cubs in the series? My first little league team was the Cubs, and like the actual team, we came in last place:)

Well 30 years ago today we got hitched. So we both ordered Heavy Carhartt flannel shirts today as our gifts. Laugh Just another day otherwise.

Yesterday was 34 years since we got together. In some way it seems like a long time and in others it seems like yesterday. A lot of stuff has hit the walls in the last 34 years. Glad she kept me.  Wink

Wow.  Last week of October, and I have not posted this month.  Where has the time gone?

We celebrated our 37th anneversary early in the month with a Celtic Thunder concert.

The next day, we ran a kid's program at the KATY Depot.  Had a Thomas the Train layout that the kids could run, adnd 6' by 9' with two loops running a selection of other things.  the Moe & Joe lumber car was a favorite, ass was our new (to us) accuisition - a barrel loader.

Preparing this week to set up our Polar Express layout at the local toy show/swap meet this coming weekend.  Built new tables for this one last weekend - the old ones were too heavy and have assigned to Thomas service at the museum.

We wandered through the holiday section at Menards last weekend.  Came home with one of the flat cars with a bus loads.

Lost one of my co-workers of 13 years to cancer a few weeks back.  Lost a neighbor to cancer too - he was the town's piano tuner.

Medically, I'm working on a tight/sore tendon in my leg and my wife's asthma is flared up again.

Condolances to those on the 'pot who have lost friends and family.

Prayers for those needing healing.

Pulled up all of my tomato plants but one several weeks back.  That one had one tomato that was just starting to turn ripe along with a bunch of good sized green ones.  The weather forecast for the next week was for reasonable weather, so I left that plant in, figuring on one more vine ripe tomato.  Turned out better than I thought.  That one vine has produced about 6 more tomatos.

About all for now.

Mornin' boys.  Frost and 31 along the Patterson Creek cut-off today.  We got some more furniture shopping to do, I think.  Half our belongings are still out in the garage.  Spent $200 on a new kitchen trash can at the WallyMart...  You know what I mean fellas...

Mom was sent home late last night from Morgantown.  WVU is one of the best hospitals we've ever stepped into.  Staff was top notch.

Good afternoon from overcast and 45°F Southern Ohio,

I used the new leaf blower in the yard last evening after work and I think this is going to be one of those tools I wished I’d bought sooner.

Buckeye – As the Portsmouth Bypass construction continues and they set these huge beam across the highway from pier to pier, I was thinking about you and your craft.  WOW!

Fife – No Flamingos!!!!  Want me send you some?

Kev – Happy Anniversary!!  I think the truth be known most of our spouses have their hands full with us.

8N – I agree Moe & Joe are neat, and the barrel loader is amazing on the simple engineering that makes it work so cool.  Another kid favorite is the mail pick-up where the car goes by the mail post and snags the awaiting mail bag and tosses out a mailbag in the car.

May God bless

Jim

Wow ! I feel like I am surrounded by a bunch of newlyweds.

Kev, those wouldn't be matching shirts would they ? It has been a really long time since the BetterHalf and I did that.

Last weeks CT wasn't good but could have been a lot worse. Got an "enhanced" CT for tomorrow and an appointment with the surgeon on Friday for what the options are. Been taking a lot of Aleve, the other little blue pill Smile, Wink & Grin, takes the edge off the pain but not all.  I'll pass on some info when it's all in the works.

Skipping the museum and Kid's Club functions for awhile. Still got some things to finish up for the halloween layout.

 Gotta run, later all.

Almost forgot: Welcome home Fife !  Beer
