Afternoon all!

Another beautiful day. Sunny, maybe 80, and still low humidity. I can take it!

Well the Aggies choked badly about half way through the 3rd qtr.

Mike C - congrats on the grandson's soccer title!

Chuck would be estatic - Indians in the World Series!

SJ - Really - where do you keep all the wood for that thing?

NASCAR today - Talladega!!!!

Roy a furnace is like a fire pit indoors, in a metal box with chimney.

I watched most of the Ohio/Penn game. Went to bed at 11:30. Penn only won by 3 points but a win is a win. On another forum a poster refered to CTT as becoming the size of a comic book. I like the mag but it kinda makes you wonder whats going on.

Hello there,

thanks for the prayers. I have a feeling we're gonna need them.

Hoped for a short day yesterday but didn't get home till 530. With luck and proper preparation by a subcontractor coulda been home by noon .   Missed a soccer game, a parade and a birthday party.

Was watching PSU vs Ohio last night but got tired and went to bed bout half way through the 3rd qtr. Missed a fantastic finish.

Best move on. Grandaughter's 4th birthday party this pm. Hope to continue yard work after that if weather is fit.

Prayers for those in need ,

Guten morgen,

We had a nice Saturday yesterday.  The older son's soccer team finally won its first game and he scored the first goal that propelled them to a 2-1 win.  They lost their next game but they were definitely excited to have that first win.  The kids watched movies (Iron Man 1, 2, and 3) in the afternoon/evening and the youngest and I (mostly me) carved two pumpkins.  PSU had a stunning upset over OSU which was awesome.  It was not televised out here otherwise I would have woke up at 0200 to watch it.  I watched the highlights this morning.  The wife has a brisket in the oven and we are looking forward to a pleasant Sunday.

Good day,

Joe

Good evening all,

Sunny weather but cool temps today.  Granddaughter's team was missing their best player today and lost 8-4.  Was down 5-2 at one point, but rallied to make 5-4 heading into last quarter, but 2 quick goals sealed the deal for the other team.  However........my grandson's team played well enough to win the title 1-1(1-0 PKs)!   A 0-0 first half was an up and down the field event.  A fortunate goal in the 3rd quarter gave his team a lead heading into the final time of play, but a PK in the 4th quarter by the other team resulted two scoreless 5 minute OTs.  One goal was scored in the PK shootout and that was enough to win.   Very eexciting as this was my daughter's first year of coaching.  Lots of bling for all.  Oh and the Indy 11 won 3-0 as well.  As AJ would say, "All in all, it was a pretty good day."  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Evening all!

A real beauty here today. 70's. Low humidity. Sunny.

Watching A&M vs Alabama. A&M hanging in so far but stupid mistakes and penalties are hurting them against the #1 team. Cannot do that.

Dennis - we are also doing the trust thing. It's a good thing and avoids our kids having to probate much. Not possible to get everything in the trust but it sure minimizes the complexity for the family after we pass And only a few items will have to probate making it simple and inexpensive. I hear California has extremely nasty probate fees (i.e. $10-20,000+ and it increases from there based upon estate value - where here in TX simple probate is only around $3,000 regardless of the size of the estate). The other interesting element is your children's trusts are shielded from divorces and lawsuits. So they can keep whatever assets are left to them.

SJ - what's a "furnace"?

Morning all. Hope all had a good time at York, who went.

No real news here. I bought a 6-27935 ( remake of the 6820 that I need) it will do for now while I take my time looking for an original 6820. At least the set will look complete for the time being. That's suppose to be coming in today. I'll have the frame to my 2359 back hopefully some time late this week to early next week but still need to test the horn relay and to send E-unit out to be fixed but other than that that set will be complete also. need some minor parts for both sets but that will come when I send E-unit out so when I get it back all will be done and that will basically be two completed sets.

I need to look forward to getting the garage done how I want it. Need someone ( because I don't have the tools or ever have done it ) cut a walkway from the storage side of the garage to the garage side and then cut a window into the one wall of the garage so I can put a A/C-Heater unit in there. Then start closing off the garage door area and removing the garage door. The insulation in attic part will begin and framing the walls ( there cinder block need to be able to run wire for outlets and put insulation in along the walls.)

Hope all have a good day

Prayers for Mrs Banks

Morning. Fall Festival is going strong in front of my house. South Main Street is closed. Vender tents all up and down on both sides. Main Street Park is Garden Club [Wifey and crew], PD and FD. Windy and 58 degrees. BIG change. Getting ready for the free HOTDOGS the PD gives away. Then early afternoon, go south to the wedding. Kids will have sore throats by end of the day. Barking and barking at all the folks.

Brent, thanks for the Fifey report.

Frankie's wedding this afternoon late.  Yankee raid.  Never seen so many NY license plates in one place except NY state.  Loud beer drinking Yankees.  Calling for REB reinforcements.

Have a good one.

Morning all! A little nippy out this morning!! I'm still holding out on firing up the furnace though. :) I couldn't believe the customers I had in yesterday looking for snow blowers and shovels. Is the Almanac predicting a long winter??? The usual Saturday grind for me - groceries, tidy up the house and some Michigan football later this afternoon. Number 3 ranking! GO BLUE!! I hope those at York are having a great weekend. Prayers to those in need. Have a good weekend!

Guten morgen,

We had a busy day yesterday but it was capped off with a nice dinner at a Schnapps Distillery located in our village.  The food and company was great and boy was the schnapps strong.  Today, the older son has a soccer tournament which will consume a significant part of our day and then we should be able to enjoy a carnival in our village.  Have a great day.

Banks - I will pray for your wife.

SP Ray - That is great news.

Chief, sorry to hear of Ms Dorothy's passing.  She must have been a good friend to you.

Belated Happy birthday RoyHappy B-Day Sorry I missed it.

Went to visit my wife today and had lunch with her.  Stayed for about two hours.

Weather has been hot for the last couple of days.  Supposed to be cooler tomorrow.  My lawn is hanging on by a thread.  Watered a little after dark today.  Gardener doesn't even mow lately.  He just trims it with a weed wacker in spots that need it.  I will have to introduce him to hedge and shrub trimming if he needs work.  Neighbor in rear planted some ivy on our shared block wall and it has covered the whole thing.  Looks better than a block wall though.

Got results back today from my recent colonoscopy.  No cancer.  Thank the Lord.

later, Ray

Good evening all,

Lousy day at work ended with triumphant, exciting games tonight.  Granddaughter's team won 4-2 in a game much closer than the score indicates and the grandson's team fought darkness as well as the opponent for a 2-0 victory.  Both games were exciting and well played.  Weather was cold but tolerable.  Pain two was a nuisance all day long.  Weather was cool for noon walk but tolerable.   Getting home tonight was interesting as extra construction and a bad wreck (not me) slowed the journey.  At least two games on tap for tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello there. .TGIF!!!!!!

Wish I was at York. .....Been a long week.

Condolences to Chief. Sounds like a mighty fine lady

Belated Happy birthday to Roy.

Last Friday's visit to surgeon revealed a lump in Mrs armpit. That delayed biopsy of bread to see if 2nd biopsy needed. Today's ultrasound showed armpit lump is no concern. Bread biopsy next Friday. Late afternoon phone call from gynecologist revealed uterine lining biopsy 2 weeks ago contained probable cancerous cells from ovary or fallopian tube. Waiting on call from Pittsburgh specialist on that front.

Laying here wide awake but need to get to sleep. Have to leave for work in 6 hours .

My presentation of my assessment appeal was well received. I have hope it will be reduced.

Best try t sleep.

Good day folks. It's a beautiful day in York. So far I've met up with MartyE and Buckeye. Buckeye shared the John Fullerton, Roy, LAZ,  Brent, Fife and some of the others who frequent York weren't going to make it. So far no purchases for me but my college buddies have been cleaning up.

Take care,

Mitch

Just plain cold out there today but there is sun.

Kind of in the dumps today, got the medical booklet from Cat yesterday for next year. They claim we have been getting too good a deal and they have to compete with other companies in the market. This = stick it to the retirees and workers again. WOW We pay $270 a month now for our BCBS plan, the same plan next year will be $564. Not a small jump and I am tight now. This sucks. So much for the ACA driving prices down. There are other plans for less but you had better not get sick if you take them. The deductibles are 6K. So at this point it looks like I will have to go back into the Cat network with UHC and higher deductibles that only pays out close to home but will stay under $300 a month. Problem is I need to cover wife for the next 8 years till she gets to 65. I will will get to 65 in Aug so everything will change again. They sure make things harder on you as you age when they should be making things easier. End of rant.  SoapBox

Late evening all!

The cool front came through early this morning and we got about a half inch of rain. High today was about 74 and low tonight about 50. Nice weekend on tap.

Dennis - ouch. We have a rental house for over 30 years now. Cannot sell it for a reasonable price. We use a rental management company. They take 10% but that pays for itself as they have full time roving crews that do repairs for a fraction of what it would cost us. Example - reroof for $3000 - would have cost us $6000+. Repaints same level of saving. We do not have to mess with it at all. We are comsidering a sell again next year as prices have finally come up a bit in the area where the house is.

Chuck would be pleased. Indians advance!

Good evening,

Just finished a hodgepodge dinner for the family.  The wife did not feel like cooking so I stood out in the rain and grilled some bratwurst.  I made currywurst sauce for mine; the wife had her on bread with mustard.  The kids are eating nachos.  Yep, that is one fine dinner if I ever saw one.  Sometimes it's just one of those nights.  I had my annual physical fitness assessment this morning and since I scored an Excellent I will splurge with some dessert and a beer tonight.  Have a great day.

Dougdagrump - I never knew they had that.  I never had Skyline or Cincy chile until we moved to Dayton.  The wife obtained the recipe from a friend and it tastes just like it.

Good night,

Joe

Mornin' Fellas

Happy B-Day Roy! Sorry I missed the festivities.

Sent a text to Fife a few minutes ago.

Will be ordering new screendoors for the screened porch. Replacing the wood doors with vynil doors and will wrap the exterior with Azak. The will replace the wood decking on the exposed porch with Trex decking in the spring to match the porch outside the sunroom that I redid this past Summer. Can't wait to get it all done as this is the remaining stuff from building it 7 years ago. Also still need to fix the trim on the shed... always something. Smile

Still haven't started dismanteling the train layout... it needs to get done so I can start on the replacement project and get the basement cleaned up so we can start using it when we have company.

Morning all. To early to think. Need to take my meds, then probably back to bed as it was like 2 when we finally got to bed this morning. Woke for kidney break and it's basically Pill time so will get that also in a few.

Bought the James Gang set yesterday ( yes I know it's D.C. ) Nice collector piece thou and this set looks untouched but would bet it has been at least tested somewhere, but track is still fastened together untouched.

Not much else is going on so far, we do later need to go to Wife's booth thou. Need to put another shelving unit in there where a small hutch sold and rearange some items. And add some more item's.

Well time to go, hope all have a good day.

Evening all,

Thanks for the b'day thoughts. Had a nice couple of celebrations with son cooking steaks (he bought at local meat market) Sun night and then a nice dinner last night at a local gourmet pizza place (byob!) with adult beverages, some close neighbors, kids and a couple of their friends. Fun evening and conversation.

Chief - sorry about your friend Dorothy. Angel

Kev - one more year to Medicare. Never thought I would look forward to that!
