Hot today. 105 forcast, 108 possible. Anything over 100 is hot to me. Yet another brush fire burning since yesterday. 3300 acres burned so far. Location is West of us in Santa Clarita. There's a mountain between them and us but we are getting a lot of smoke.
Phish, good tip on a/c condensation. I remember they had a big unit at the yard office on the railroad. It collected gallons.
TCA meet today but I will miss it account going to see wife at the facility with my two sons. Dixieland Jazz club tomorrow.
Chief, condolences for your MIL. R.I.P.

Howdy All,
Had a real good day at the museum yesterday. Both operationally wise and crowd wise.
Latest med changes seem to have helped a little, hopefully will see continued improvement over the next several weeks.
Don't want to go anywhere near downtown Sandy Eggo this week end, Comic-Con is going on and it is crazy crowded around town. I guess the opening act was in Cleveland earlier this week the main event this weekend and and the closing act in Philly this week.
Ditto on the heat, hate to see the electric bill for this month. At least it didn't hit 105* today, yet.
Chief, Condolences on the passing of your MIL.
Kev, The last time I took a tumble down the stairs like yours I blamed it on the BetterHalf. She asked me a question and she knew darn well that I can't walk & talk at the same time.
Time to continue the veg-out time !

Evenin' boys. Hot. Wifey and family all went to Dutch Wonderland on the hottest day of the year. Pretty sure I went with them on the coldest day back in December... Storm rolled through there around 4:30, they ain't back so I guess they rode it out. Youngest Princess stayed home with me. She got meal at IHOP, Baskin Robbins, and we started back-to-school clothes shopping. In other words, she had Daddy right where she wanted him.
Got the newest CTT in the mail, and it looks like Dougnotta's club layout is featured.
Chief - for your family.
Fife, Haven't gotten my issue yet but I believe the featured layout belongs to our club's former president. It's down in "Old Town San Diego". I haven't been down there yet because I just can't stand the traffic and parking hassles. Maybe later in the fall between tourist seasons. Lot of good eateries down there which could serve as an additional excuse to go.
KRM Penny, It is not a all in one it is a stand alone tower. I won't go there, one thing goes it all goes. It has a Intel Core i3 Tomorrow I will drop it off and see what they have to say.

Well, it will still be a little while (I hope) before I must upgrade (from Windows XP) so I'll be interrested to see how your situation turns out. I'm hoping it's just something simple!
Trains, trains, wonderful trains. The more you get, the more you toot!
Good evening all,
Got the 30 inch mower back today and did the yard in less than 2 hours before it got really hot. Still warm now. Sister and her family stopped by for a short visit. Watched Indy 11 win. Chief, my condolences to the family. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

Chief - condolances for your mother in law.
The 'feels like' temperature is at 111 as I write this. There is a cool front that will move through tonight, so the next few days will be better.
My wife and I have been going to the movies on Sunday afternoon the last few weeks. Saw Tarzan, Independendance day, and Star Treck. Posters in the theater loby are advertising Ghost Busters, Magancifient 7, Pet's Dragon, Ben Hur, and The Bourne Identity. The thought occurred to me today - aren't they making any new movies anymore?
Train news, I'm researching G sacle track for the elevated display that is wanted in the freight room in the KATY Depot Museum. I'm thinking 5' curves and brass rail for the simple oval around the room. Any comments on this?
About all for now.
Evening all.
8ntruck most go with brass now on the radius I'm not sure but that sounds fair as long as you don't plan on any large steamers like big boys I would think you are fine. I believe most diesels and most steam would handle that fine. Just thought of something are you talking 5' radius or diamiter. Any way you should do good with that.
Not much going on here. Hope all had a good weekend
Did nothing today. Too hot. Ran trains for awhile. Checked on rabbit nest in backyard. 4 bunnies. Eyes not open yet. I hope everyone has a good day.
8n, The 5ft will accomodate quite a bit of equipment. Do you already have the motive power ? Most all of the Bachmann and a lot of the LGB stuff will handle 5ft w/ease even as small as 4ft. When you get into the USA or Aristocraft(now defunct) most all of their stuff, steam or diesel, require a 6ft min if memory serves me correctly.
Depending on budget and since this will be indoors Bachmann makes a very economical track that is kinda like a tubular style. The really good thing about the better track, brass and regardless of brand, is the use of the rail clamps at the railjoints for extremely good continuity as well as convenient place to attach the power drops.
And of course you can't forget CTT's sister publication Garden Railroading: http://cs.trains.com/grw/f/91.aspx
Went to early 7:30AM Mass to beat the heat account a/c at church still on the blink. Was still warm even at that early hour. Went to hear Dixieland Jazz band this afternoon. Left a little early because I thought I was having chest pains. I feel better since I got home and ate some soup. didn't eat lunch so I was running on empty. I'm hoping what I had was just indigestion. Bands were pretty good. However the featured band was missing some personnel. Trombone player has shingles so they got a sub for him and drummer was late. He finally showed up. I wanted to hear him especially since he is the one who replaced my friend Larry who retired from the band recently. He is a little more heavy on the drums than Larry. Leader who is 90 now and looking it seemed a little frustrated with some people missing cues etc. This band is excellent when everybody is well.
Still winging it on facebook and getting used to it.
Did not visit wife today. Not feeling well and it's too hot. Will go tomorrow.
Had a big scorcher today. Memorial service for MIL went great. Had Methodist intern for the preacher. She was outstanding. Asked her to start a Church in Rolesville. We don't have a Methodist Church. Told my wife later, she could not get that out of her mind. Said the Lord may be telling her something. Hope so.
Back to TV.
Weather like this is when I grab a magazine, book or small project and just sit as still as possible with fans roaring all around me while I look something like this>
Chief....Sorry to hear about your MIL. Please give Pam our condolances.
In as much as I am a renowned visitor to Roseyville and your suggestion for another church; AMEN to that!

Been a long time since I looked in here last, been busy for me. Lots of sickness and swim meets.
Aloha. Another scorcher today - as Fife said, it's been too hot here in the hinterland to do much of anything let alone go out on a sailboat. No breeze. The daughter and SiL came to visit this weekend to use the house as a base of operations for their attending concerts and local shopping. Thank goodness for A/C! I volunteered at church as video director which thankfully is super-aircond'd because of the heat the equipment gives off. Hope the fires stay away, Dennis. My condolences to you and Pam on the passing of your MiL, Chief. Love those Paya trolleys, RT and Penny. I've had a few over the years. 8n, I was just tinkering with outdoor track at a local club that has a gigantic outdoor G scale layout. It's all brass Bachman and older discontinued manufacturers. It's worn well over the winters here.

Hi,
Plenty of humidity and heat here to as Doug said.. Slept till 10:30 just because they say sleep is the best thing to do with a brain wack like I got. No PT today.
May try to do some grass later today if it dries up some. If I don't it will get out of hand fast. We have had about 2.5" of rainin the last few days. Just enough and not to much like a lot of them north of us got.
Be good!
Good afternoon from hot (90+°F) southern Ohio,
I’ve read but not posted on the pot since last Thursday AM. Lots going on since then. The grandkids did really good with their 4-H competition. Felicity won 1st place in sewing both in active sportswear and quilting, and will go to State competition, Kalie won 1st in her sewing category, not sure of the category name and will go to State and Gabriel won 2nd in knot tying. They left Thursday night with the other grandparents for a vacation trip to Virginia Beach. I sure hope they keep the sunscreen on them. Youngest Kalie has light skin and she will bake. Last year when they took them to the beach Gabriel got sun poisoning, and he is very dark completed, the Native American coming out in he and his older sister.
I’ve been cutting a lot of grass and cleaned up my brides van. With the kids gone on vacation it may stay clean a day or two. Football practice in about an hour and it is going to be miserable.
Chief – Prayers for your MIL and all those who mourn for her
8n – A lot of remakes this year it seems
Dennis – how close was the fire to you?
Kev – rest up but be careful not to fall out of bed!
May God bless
Jim
Quiet but good day at work. Still hot but had a nice walk. Quiet evening at home. I hope everyone has a good day.
90s for several weeks now, very little rain. A modular layout set up in a local park Sunday was hot but enjoyable. A video is posted on that other forum.

Hello all
Few more days of vacation and then I am back to work.
Slow but sure progress on the motorhome. Tested out a window a/c unit in the bedroom I got from a friend. Works good. Going to be nice sleeping in there.
Freshwater plumbing repairs should be fairly easy. The conversion is old enough it's all copper. Only plastic was to the old toilet, which will get tossed out w/ it. Going to run it on reduced street water pressure for now.
Looks at some small light fixtures at the hardware store. Need something for the front room and the bathroom. Will also check Lowes/Home Depot for other options.
Datsun is doing fairly well after all the engine work. Like any old truck, it has other parts it wants:)
Moved my workbench to the barn last week so the train layout is leaning against the wall. Hopefully will be in the park manager's shop later this week.
JimS - send my friends info and he has your address.

Feeling better now after pains on Sunday. Went to see wife yesterday and had lunch with her. Special dinner with her at the facility on Thursday night per invitation just for newbies. Helen has been there two months now and they have one of these every quarter. A friend who was at the Jazz concert told me that I missed the best part. That's the way it goes.
Being lazy today. Got up at 9:00AM, did some housework (cleaning toilets) read paper, checked computer, now it's lunch time already. So far I have just eaten a ripe tomato. Got some left over ham and cabbage I think I'll have now.
Have a good day,
