Happy Thanksgiving
Sun and 50 today. The snow is melting, I can see green grass again.. Already waiting for that turkey tomorrow. CTT IS SUPPOSE to be classic trains not modern. can't say much as my issue has not arrived yet, always later than everyone else.

A very HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all.
Mornin' boys. Sunny & 40 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Got some family time coming this week, so I'll take this time to wish everybody a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
That's the problem with all the hi-railers migrating here instead of staying in MRR; we get all their operation issues. I don't mind seeing their layouts in the pages, but I miss all the tinplate articles that characterized earlier issues.
PS..
Got the latest CTT. Flipping through I thought it was MRR there for a second. They were talking run like real and operations.
Think they better read the title

Good evening all,
Moved and mulched leaves for the last time in the back yard. Just waiting now for the hard maple out front to lose the last of its leaves and then I can mulch them and bag the leaves in the street gutter. Good day at work. Spent 3 hours explaining one of my job processes to an IT guy who thinks he can automate a 6 to 7 hour process into a 5 minute job. He did all the right things, taking notes and asking questions and he does not have a clue how long it will take him. At first he said everything would be ready to go by next Tuesday, but towards the end of the conversation he was hedging his bets a little. Hmmm. Worked on lights again with some success. Thanks for the advice. Have to spend tomorrow night prepping for turkey day. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Hello there,
Thanksgiving prep in ernest.
I usually don't do Christmas decorations till 2 weeks before Christmas.
Mike. ...with a little patience and a meter you can start at one end of a lite string and find the open light. I usually skip 2 or 3 bulbs until there's no voltage. Did it many times when I had more time than money. Now outside lights are all C9.
Roy......foundation back to normal yet?
Where's Chief? Hope he didn't fall out of his tree.
Best move on.
Prayers for those in need
Evening all!
Mike C - ahhh - the annual manly tradition of spending hours trying to recover a 6 year old $4 string of Christmas lights...I know it well...drives one to drink... think I will get one now in anticipation of my annual ritual...
4 inches of rain predicted here Thurs thru Sat/Sun. if we get the 4 we may set a record for the most rain since they started recording rain amounts some 400 years ago...
Turkey in the fridge, pie making materials on hand (pumpkin, chocolate, and apple), dressing fixin's and potatoes for mashing...check! Belt checked that all the notches for letting it out a couple of inches fully operational...
Have a great evening all!
Regards, Roy
Afternoon all from Sunny cool Southern Ohio,
Ray - Glad to hear Helen is doing well. Will you be her caregiver for a while as she recuperates?
I'm off for a couple of days. Had to run to Columbus this morning after getting kids to school and got home and had lunch, left over stromboli - good stuff!. Going to rotate tires on the Avalon, dump recyclables and finish up cleaning gutters before going back into work Thursday.
Later,
May God bless,
Jim
All quiet on the Western Front. No news is good news as they say.
Helen is doing well following her surgery for cancerous leg tumor.
Might take the old Buick out for a spin today. It needs running. It passed the smog inspection so I will keep it for a while The car has under 100,000 miles on it but needs a lot of stuff so I will use it until the first major expense comes up then donate it or something.

A slow melt is what we have going on today. 39 now heading to 43 later, plenty of sun. Train news, Installing the Miller High Life sign into the Menards bar and grill building to replace the original Budweiser sign that quit working. Works for me. I don’t care for Budweiser anyhow.

What Doug says for weather here too.
50s by Thursday. No train news, just a few laps to keep the track clean.
Aloha. I hope it gets as warm as they say by Thurs. and melt all this stuff. It's quiet here in the office this week. . .

Good day weather wise. Quiet but good day at work. I mulched some more leaves before sunset. Watched Supergirl and Jane the Virgin. Got the latest CTT today. Very good issue on what I have read so far. I hope everyone has a good day.
Follow-up on Specialist visit:
A "shot" and Schedule P. T. 2-3 times a week for 4 weeks
Maybe a solution by Christmas.....We'll see!
V8 Dennis, yes I did attend the TTOS meets at the machinist hall in Burbank. It was pretty big but I don't think it was as big as Cal Stewart when they used to meet at the old Pasadena Convention Center. Maybe attendance has fallen off at the Ontario location. I don't know. Did not go this time.
Good morning,
I figured you got more Doug. Same here with the bushes and trees. Bent to the ground from the weight. Should melt off over the next few days. The turkeys have moved on. They just wonder around, you see them then you don't.
Today is a day of recovery after a day with the grand-kids. Clean the walls and windows of hand, finger prints and toy truck tire marks. I also need to finish installing the snow chains on the Gator.
Aloha from a sunny and cold Chicago. I was surprised we easily have a foot of snow from Fri night through Sat. afternoon, and with single digit temps overnight, everything's frozen. The youngest had fun going around with a long pole tapping the bushes and trees since the snow was so heavy, it bent down branches on some to almost ground level. Like Kev said, definitely heart-attack-snow but I was able to push most of it around with the electric snow-thrower while the boys did the hard work. Dennis, what a saga. Glad you have the Honda back. That's not a bad repair bill for my part of Illinois. Kev, I had to show the youngest all those turkeys in the 'wild'.
Brent, glad to hear about Christina.
Phish - 37 hours OT, geez Louise, you're making me feel guilty Jim!
Okay, that didn't last long.
Hello all
Another quiet night on the mountain. Weather has been pretty good all week.
Just tried out a new dual-action airbrush I got to replace my old one. Took a little getting used to but I like it much better. You have a lot more control than the other w/ less overspray. And this one is a gravity rather than suction feed and so among other good things is much easier to clean.
No big plans for the upcoming holiday, prob sleep half Thurs anyway. Will continue working on the new layout and of course, more Corvair work:)

Sunny today (wish it had been like this Saturday). Was really tired Saturday. Went to rest on couch at 8 PM and did not get up until 9 AM Sunday. Did errands with wife today and worked on Christmas lights. May be pitching several strands of lights as I can not get any to work. Got one strand to work halfway. Will replace all bulbs in non working section and see if that fixes it. If not, they all go. I hope everyone has a good day.
Busy here the last couple days. Must be winter season.
Ray, Brent - thanks for upbeat updates
Dennis - a bit tough re the cars. Hang in there.
Had first freeze last night. Rain predicted for Thurs holiday.
Kev - quite a snow fall there...good kid weather!
Mike C - more space means more trains?
C'Boys managed a win. Romo back and looked pretty good.
Gearing up for the family Thursday. Dinner with kids and then rest of relatives come by for desert and second half of C'Boys game.
WOW what a day,Banks and Jim/ Sturgeon-Phish. Yes the kids loved the weather as it was. It was cold and the snow was coming down hard but you could not tell by looking at them. I had to force them to come in and get warm. Their mother hated the roads when she came today to pick them up. Funny she did not seem to upset when I drove to get them in the white out conditions. We don’t have electronic devices here so they have to have fun the old way. traindaddy1, Best of all at the orthopedic specialist tomorrow. Well I have had it, I am beat. After spending the night in bed with chief-rain-in-the-pants AKA Jordan, last night it will be nice to be in a nice dry bed tonight. Not one with the warm that turns cold bed.
Evening all from clear cool Southern Ohio,
Suppose to get around 27°F tonight. We had a few flurries, nothing like KRM! Kids look like they are having a blast.
Don – That sounds so weird about after reporting a gun stolen being responsible to what would be done with it. It would seem the police report of it being stolen would indicate you no longer have any control of it. It is a reminder that just because it is a law, does not mean it is right.
Traindaddy-Hope and pray for good news from the MRI
Finishing up a stretch of overtime at work covering vacations – 77 hours this week; 37 ot. I’m beat. Hopefully I can use the OT $$ to buy new fuel injectors for my truck.
Good night all and may God bless,
Wow. Third attempt at a post. Gonna sumarize this time:
Busy at work. Training in Kansas City last Thursday and Friday.
Wife flew home Thursday after 3 weeks in Michigan helping her mom.
Worked in yard this afternoon - leaves picked up.
Got a neat print of last year's Polar Express layout at the museum from a local professional photographer. I'll have to ask him if I can post it.
Still working with the museum about the possibility of setting the Polar Express layout up for a couple of Saturdays.
All for now. 3rd time's the charm?
Well, tomorrow is the big day. Going to the orthopedic specialist to discuss the MRI results and hopefuly get a plan to resolve my lower lumbar issues.
(My locomotive wants to pull but my caboose is dragging)
Good morning all,
Don, I did not go to Cal Stewart either.
V8, Unfortunately, the Cal Stewart meet cost a lot because of the venues they use but I don't know what else would be available. York does well for less money because it is so much bigger. However $30 doesn't seem so bad compared to what it cost to fly back East to go to York. I use to spend at least 1K just for transportation, food and hotel. It's more than that now. Add to that what you spend on trains. We are too far away from the big meets. Cal Stewart and Nor Cal are just a fraction of the size of those places. I used to go to York when I was working but now it's too expensive for an old retired guy.
Saw the post by Ray about Aleve. This should not be taken lightly be anyone. Many yaers ago I was taking Aleve daily to reduce hip joint pain before I had the surgery. One evening on a flight to SNA, I was dehydrated and light headed. I checked into the hotel when we landed and had an early start the next morning. One of my managers picked me up at 5:30 AM for a 7:00 AM breakfast meeting in Oceanside. When I had trouble getting out of the vehicle, I asked that she take me to the hospital (fortunately it was close by). The emergency doctor said I should be unconsious based on my blood pressure and I wound up for a three day all expense paid stay with a blood transfusion. I almost bleed to death. The doctor said they get about 30 cases related to taking Aleve a month.
I have not taken it since.
Some projects done, the rest are on hold for better weather. Windy & cold here today. May flow leaves out of gutters later. I built an extension nozzel for leaf blower. I can do them without ladder.
Phish.......Glad you're back. Post as you have time. I read every day but post on average only once a week.
Phife.......The house will come. Enjoy the Hollidays with the grandkids.
Mom and I are alone this weekend. Mrs went to a show in Lancaster with her sister and two neices. Gonna go get lunch and pay respects to a former co-worker's father. Then gutters, trains or recliner.
Kev.......the look on their faces says it all
Good day guys,
Just finished up brunch. Boy those kids can eat.
There was 7" on the deck railing. No telling what DougM got??
It got down to 4 last night and is only 19 right now. Plenty of sun.
Going to meet Katie around 1:00 to drop them off.
DB I got my shot last week.
Winter wonder land yesterday on the North Bluff!
