Sturgeon-Phish Evening all, I am back on night shift. All is quiet and hopefully it will remain that way. There are lots of leftovers in the refrigerators if anyone should get hungry. One of the guys wants the storm door I took down for one of his outbuildings. Good for both of us. Bride and I went to Mass this morning then had a nice Thanksgiving dinner. The kids are beat and glad to be home. Doug – Thanks I’ll try and stick around for a while. Even without a layout trains are fun Mike C – You have a good point; “Modern Era” is kind of a sliding scale, but I think I’ll stick with the ‘60’s and earlier train stuff. RT – It does feel good to take a piece and get it running again! Good Night and may God bless Jim
Jim,
Welcome back! Glad to see you again.

A quick check-in
Rain and 55 this morning. Pots, pans and dishes are clean but lots of other things to put away before the house looks normal again..

Hope all had a good Thanksgiving. Been a nice quiet day here. Got a 8770 Electromotive Division NW2 Switcher it ran a rough took it apart cleaned it and it runs great. Need to get a decortive horn for it and put a 18V bayonette ( in the wite plastic) lightbulb so it doesn't light as well as it should but at least it now does light up. Not bad for a $20 engine including shipping.

Good evening all,
A good day was had by all. Everybody brought food and everybody helped cleaned up so it was not a major burden on anyone. All those who saw the train room for the first time were impressed. I ran trains for the one grandson who still likes them. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Hello there,
I echo what Sir James said
Spent most of the day helping Mrs in the kitchen
The gang came and ate. A good time was had by all.We sat for the 3rd annual Thanksgiving family photo.
As I was cropping this and getting ready to upload it occured to me that we left a space for Pap. Not intentionally but there it is. Just didn't seem right without him but I didn't say much because I was afraid of Mom's reaction
Best get t bed. Much cleanup remains for tomorrow
Prayers for those in need

They are all gone,,,,,,,All 14 of them 4 of them under 6,,,,,,,,,,,I am still alive.
We all sat in the train room/basement and the trains ran as we ate. It was fun and something different for most that were here. Most trains are intact some smaller things on the edges did not fair so well. Eight Little hands. So not bad for a 4 hour nuthouse.
One more thing to be thankful for.
Got to pack and bath and crash.
Thanks for the up-date on JimmyT Charlie. I was wondering if he got hitched yet. Guess he never replied to Bill's e-mail from what he sent me.

KRM The question was for RT about an e-mail. Your reply answered nothing. I will PM RT off line.
Thanks Kevin, was letting you know he was ok. Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

Well said Banks. Let the magazine stick to it's title.
PS
My earlier comments we pointed more at hoping CTT would keep the reality and operations in MRR and keep CTT for the toys no matter how old they are. They have gotten away from the custom built layout and back to what I like.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Mass over Brunch over.
Relaxing a few minutes before preparition for the gang begin. They will all join us about 5.30.
Sitting down is feeling really good. Best get moving
Happy Thanksgiving y'all
Ray congrats on 56 years of marriage.

Good Evening All !
Wanted to wish EVERYONE a Happy Thanksgiving !! Hope everyone has an enjoyable day with friends and family. We will be having our typical small gathering, Inlaws, Chris & GF, and a few friends over in the evening.
I'm STILL working on the Control Panel, but making steady progress, have a long way to go. But spending extra effort to make sure it is something I want my name attached to.
Suppose to be cooler here, a typical Fall Day, maybe mid 60's, and possible rain on Friday, but it will be fine.
Been thinking alot today of this year compared to last year, sure is different! We have SO much to be thankful for. We are all in much better health and things that matter couldn't be much better. My bout with the Shingles is all buy over, a few minor spots in my scalp annoy me, but no big deal. I was really lucky not to have it attack my eye. Unfortunately, it seems that my FIL has got it in his lower leg. The Dr has him on the meds, and since it was caught early he should do ok.
I was informed Monday we are going to go and get Annual Passes for Disneyland. As it turns out an Annual Pass is not that bad, not that much more than a daily ticket. We haven't been there in over 20 years. When I was in college I worked for Wonder Bread and delivered to the park everyday for over 3 years. Kinda got burned out on the place. Then going to go to Knotts Berry Farm on Wednesday, taking the Inlaws for an outing to see the decorations. (Vets and a guest get in free from Nov 11 thru Jan 6.) I'm sure they will enjoy it.
Take care all and be safe.
Don
Longer day at work than anticipated, but got enough done to justify taking Monday off. Not doing anything special, but there is little I can do on the 30th, and there are a variety of reasons to not be there. I have plenty of time built up and no sense dying with unused vacation time if I can help it. LOL! Did some prep work tonight for tomorrow. Weather is still mild.
As far as CTT is concerned, "modern era" is kind of a misnomer considering 1970 was 45 years ago. The number of us who had trains from the postwar era keeps getting smaller each year and it makes sense to tap into the market of those who ran trains in the 70s, 80s and 90s. While CTT came along the same time the Kughn era was being played out and has that fairly well documented, the MPC era has to have some stories as well. I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope everyone has a good day.
MichRR714 KRM did you ever hear back from JimmyT? Kev, He has posted elsewhere. Hope Everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Good evenin' all !
Busy day getting ready for tomorrow. Apple & pumpkin pies are done, roll dough is done and in the fridge, bacon cheddar deviled eggs in the fridge and the turkey is taking it's soak in the fridge immersed in a maple syrup, thyme, bay leaf, garlic and peppercorn brine.
Phish, Good to see ya visiting again.
Ray, Congas on 56 yrs.
Got a few more things to prep tonight for tomorrow then hopefully I'll still have enuff energy left to pack-up my stuff for friday. It will be a "Kid's Club Fun Run", didn't have quite as many sign up as we normally get. No need, so far, to have multiple operaters on the lines.
Now the most important item is to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the day with family and friends.
Night all.

I decided to release a project I have been working on for a few years... If you google "o gauge paper buildings free gift to hobby", you will see what it is. . Hope y'all enjoy, they ought to be up tomorrow morning or so.
Evening all from sunny Southern Ohio,
It got up to 60 after an over night low of 27. I'm glad becauseI replaced out back Storm door and this one has a doggy door built in. It is neat. Ben the Golden Retriever has it figured out, but Molly the minuature schnauser is not too sure about it yet. We'll see how long it takes her to figure it ou.
Ray, Happy Anaversary. 56 years, that is great, it is especially notworthy of how you uphold the "in sickness and health" part. May God Bless both of you.
If it is a "classic" does that mean it costs more?
Bride is fixing supper for just us. The kids are spending the night with the other grandparents as they have kin coming in for Thanksgiving.
Good night and may God bless
OK CTT arrived today and though I haven't read it yet there appears to be enough for me to consider it classic. The 2 featured layouts do have modern engines and it appears the one on the cover is too.
KRMdid you ever hear back from JimmyT?
Good morning all, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
Phish, yes I am the permanent caregiver for her since she came down with dementia over a year ago. This latest medical episode is just one more thing to watch.
Tomorrow is our 56th wedding anniversary and this year it falls on Thanksgiving as it did 56 years ago. Since the date of Thanksgiving changes from year to year our anniversary is not always on the Holiday. Son is taking us out for Thanksgiving/anniversary dinner tomorrow.
SPMan
Happy Thanksgiving.
Antique cars in IL must be 25 years old last I knew. At least to get a Antique plate. Classic on the train front I guess it is up to you. I am not sure if classic has anything to do with antique. A new Mustang Shelby or the new Dodge Hellcat are conisdered classic right out of the factory.
So for CTT I would think they can show what they want. Now if it was Antique Toy Trains then that would be a whole other thing.
Lots to get ready for tomorrow. Going to host 14 hungry people. Then it is up to deer camp on Black Friday.
Enjoy the holiday and be safe.
RT, did you ever hear back from JimmyT?
Just a general question ( I collect and run all era of trains ) but do you classify a era or a time period ( ie 20 years ) as classic If you go time period would not 20 years be classic as most states concider a car being a classic ( some as early as 15 ) so with that thought we would be at 1995 In 1995 we already had TMCC just a point to think about not trying to cuase a war but to me classic toy trains covers all types of trains true they don't do much in the tin plate era main reason there isn't as large a following in that as there is in modern I would bet. and I would say the same for the post war era ( which by the way I love ) even early modern your going to get more of the recent items as that whats available and that s what they are given to share. Classic toy trains may be a misleading title to a point but it may not also as it may be that Classic meaning in thats a classic idea so you have Classic Toy trains not necessary meaning old trains but old idea as toy trains are.
