Afternoon fellas

York was a blast. Good to see the guys again, and hanging out with Fife and wifey is always a good time. I found the cocoa tank car from last year's Christmas Catalog, 2 post-war repro boxes I needed... but now can't find the bin with the post-war items Bang Head, a James LionChief set for Matthew for Christmas, and a Lionelville Memorial Hospital ambulance.

Fife - sounds like you really hit the homerun with this show! Just don't get used to that South Korean air. Wink

Good morning all,

Looking forward to the forum at York picture.  No appointments this week.  Very unusual for us.

V8, good luck on the car repairs.

Have a good week,

Aloha. Catching up from a relaxing weekend. Watched the Rugby World Cup semi finals. I agree with SJ - Baseball goes on way-too-long. NFL is half gone and the series is just starting... It sure looks weird watching the baseball team play in winter coats. Glad you got to go to York, Brent. Ray, I have friends who live in Suffolk and love it there. Congrats on your nephew. Roy, here is a dumb question from someone who has never owned a pool - when the water overflows, where does it go? (I know, anywhere it wants to go Smile) but are there drainage tiles or something to protect the house. Chief, you sure were nice to the new bakery owners - no thanks to the Chamber person. I was sure disappointed in the end of the Talladega race. Junior was classy. Joey, not so much.

Sun and 60s today. Watched the Lions game for awhile yesterday. By the second half I decided a nap would be more fun.

Hello all

Fairly quiet day on the mountain.

Took a look at a video of that vision line GG1. It's a beast. Interesting, but I'd rather not see the price tag:)

Kev - congrats on your anniversary!

If you haven't checked out the SPF yet, be sure to look at the Thomas clockwork video. Pretty funny.

Good evening all,

A good day.   Watched an EPL match and the US Grand Prix.  US driver came in 12th.  Wife and I got 3 of the bookcases put together.  Fairly easy.  Wish I had done all of them  earlier.  Hopefully will get all done tomorrow night.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning!

Lots of rain in Texas, hope you guys can keep dry!  Sounds like the Yorksters had a good time, received some interesting information from John F regarding a lift system the Maine Builders have developed, really cool.

Had the day off yesterday, can't say I'm missing Knotts at all!  Anyway ended up spending the day in the train room.  Haven't run trains in at least 6 weeks.  Iwas extremely pleased to find that the layout was running a signal strength of "10" everywhere.  About 6 weeks ago replaced all the batteries in my MTH engines with BCR's.  Some of the engines took a minute then started, a few had to be Deleted then Re-Added, but they ALL came up and ran really well.  (I thought the engine had a volitile memory chip that retained the ID info.  Not a big deal just curious)

Need to go help a guy become familiar with his Legacy system this morning, then watching the Talledega race.

Hope all you have a great day, prayers for those in need!

God Bless

Don I found out that even with batteries, if they get to low they forget they are on the handheld & you have to reinstall them.  Actually installed a BCR in one and when it didn't work, I remembered this and reinstalled it.  Found out nothing wrong with the battery & put it back in.  Now when I have this type problem I always delete the engine and reinstall it.

Morning /afternoon all (depending how fast I hit post) not a lot going on here today. Still sorting out the for sale stuff most is going as my mind set now other than what is on shelves or I really want ( 90% of that on shelves) is going to be sold then when I get my layout built which is at least 6 months down the raod as won't start working on this room until mid January as we won't own this house until the firts week of January so not doing any inprovements until then. the room is onlylike 8'w by 11' long maybe so I have a end area of 5'x8' that will be for my trains but I want to sand, stain, and clear coat the floors before I do anything in here as to be honest ( it actually is funny and pitiful at the same time) that previous renters( this was a rental) had a throw/drop rug down and just painted around the outside of it without even picking the sides of the rug up to paint around it you can see the jagged edge of where the rug laid. So want to sand all that off if I can and see what I can do with the floors.

If that comes out nice then I will want to do the same to living room, dinning room and our bedroom that will be fun convincing the wife on that one lol.

Well guess I need to start taking some pics and listing more items or at least getting them set up to go so talk to you all later.

Morning all.  Cloudy.  Was suppose to go hunting.  Come back tomorrow night.  New bakery in town is having ribbon cutting tomorrow.  Chamber lady forgot to check with Mayor on schedule [on purpose, I'll deal with that later].  I told owners I was going to be gone.  They cried to Chamber.  Wanted to reschedule.  I changed plans.  Go tomorrow at noon, spend the night in camper and hunt all day Tuesday.  Well, now they are saying rain coming in a day early [all day Tuesday].  Blows those plans.  Not sitting in the rain.  Not happy.  May not get to go for two weeks.

Sat at the NC State Fair yesterday afternoon with Wifey at Master Gardeners' booth in the flower show area.  Being nice.

Dougsnotagrump, couple has moved here from San Deigo.  They have a son in elementary school.  They are vey familiar with the Museum's layout.  Kid love trains.  Her Dad and Mom moving here from there too [be with Grandkid].

Buckeye, getting worried about your health.  Prayers.

KEV, poor Sandra.  Congrats.

Later

Good morning, Today is 29 years of marriage for Sandra and I. We are just going to hang out here at home.
Roy, I had a lot of problems with the lighter tube rusting out in our fireplace. Then I got hold of some high temp Stainless Steel pipe and drilled it to work. That was 6 years ago. Give it a try. Those Refinery guys down there would know where to find it. The North Texas Rash has finally started to back off. Never knew Poisson Ivy could take so long to heal up even with the steroids.
Well like I said no plans. Maybe leaves later. We had peak last week and they are really falling now. I would say about 70% down. The big oaks will hold half of theirs all winter. Still some oak, maple. and hickory holding out. Then the last will be the underbrush. Can almost see Jim’s place back in the woods. Winter is on the way.

Roy, Here is the high pressure, high heat Stainless Steel pipe that I drilled to work.

It can lay under a bed of ash for days and it never rust.  Yes

Good evening all,

Grandson's tourney was short and not sweet as they lost a heartbreaker 3-2 on a late goal.   Team and grandson played well, but it was not to be.  Indy 11 won their final home game 2-1.   Got both the December CTT and the special Display issue on the same day.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evenin' All.

Beautiful day here today, a bit warm but nice.

Had a good run at the museum yesterday w/no pileups. Other than a couple of Senior Tour groups it was a really slow day, sure mkes the day go slow. Today has been post museum veg-out day.

Yes this has been the York Meet week but I noticed something else happeing: Bigfoot believers gather at New York retreat, swap stories Bigfoot believers gather at New York retreat, swap stories

Any correlation between the two ?   Laugh

Roy, Better keep the gas cans full for the boat, just in case.

Later all.

Evening all!

The news said we had about 10 inches + of sorely needed rain here the last couple of days. I-45 is closed between Houston and Dallas. Lot of local flooding in low areas but no problem here.

The pool is overflowing. The good news is the pool sweep not only cleans the pool but now it is also sweeping the pool deck.

John F picked up some parts for me at York. Gave me a report saying the place was packed as weather was great for first time in years. Thanks John!

Hopefully will be able to make the Spring York!

Buckeye, Ray, RT Angel

Kev- thanks for Win 10 update. I have also heard good things from others on 10. I am still on Vista so I may finally upgrade

Temps finally dropping. Firewood on order! Got to fix the gas starter in the fireplace. Pipe rotted out last year

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy

Good morning all,

A nephew of ours in Virginia has just been appointed to City Manager of the city of Suffolk, Virgina.  We are so proud of him.  My sister (his mother) just passed away recently.  I wish she could have lived long enough to see him take the oath of office.  He will use my father's bible which my sister owned for the swearing in ceremony on Monday.

V8, I sympathize with you about selling trains.  I haven't sold on E bay for ages.  I think I'm going to leave everything to my kids to do with what they wish.  Meantime I will just enjoy them.

It has been three weeks since my wife had a biopsy done on her tumor on her leg.  I need to light a fire under someone next week for answers  and schedule what needs to be done.

Buckeye, prayers for your situation.

Ray

Good Morning to All,

York was fun as usual. Caught up with LAZ, Fife, John F, Banks, Carl from CTT and Brent for a Coffee Pot photo. Maybe Brent will post it later.  Only bought two items, one was a $7 circuit breaker for a KW that I've been working on, the other was K-Line WM caboose that needs work for $8. Cheapest I've come away from York in years. Got home and discovered I already had the caboose, so I may disassemble and use it was a work shed in a rail yard.

Probably going to do some yard work after it warms up a bit.

Take care,

Mitch

Morning guys, Heading to town for stuff for Breakfast Burritos. What she wants for our anniversary weekend. 33 years ago today she brought her 1973 Rambler Matador over so I could check her brakes. She never left.

65 and cloudy, will be cooling off all day.

Nice scores from York!  Yes

Mornin' boys.  Clear and 43 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Will find out more about new digs today.

Good time at YORK yesterday.  After meeting up with Bob, Laz, John, Banks, and Brent, we split off with Brent and I finally pulled a deal on the LCCA Halloween General set, add-ons and all.  (Brent, finally found the outlaw car at whereelse...the gentleman who sold me the 150th General Set).  Brent also sent me home with another LW (thank you).  So after waiting over a year to go, I was done after 3 hours.  Oh well, success.

Wow.  This week went quickly.

DDG - congrats on your 50th.

My simmering crisis at work is still simmering, though I had to drop the hammer and inform everybody that there could not be any more changes if I'm going to have the tools modified in time for the next run.

Found a 3656 operating stock car on E bay for $8.  A broken gondola came along with it.  The stock car will probably need some work, but the price was right.

All for now.
