Good evening all,

Went for a short walk today.  Work was quiet and the pest left me alone today.  Relaxed some tonight and did a few errands.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Sunny and cool here Doug,

Freeze warning for Saturday night so I winterized the weed sprayer and wifey’s 12 volt elect water tank she uses on the Gator for the flower beds. So much for summer.  Tongue Tied

Went to the local Menards hoping to see one of those new 14” flat cars but there were none there. Bang Head

Good morning all,

Got a new book for my birthday called "All Aboard" The Wonderful World of Disney Trains. by Dana Amendola.  I wondered what happened to Ward Kimball's Grizzly Flats railroad station that was given away after his death.  Anyway there is a picture of it in this book and it is on what is called The Justi Creek Railway, a private property somewhere in California or Oregon.  It is owned by John Lasseter who also was an animator for Disney in the modern era.  I'm glad that the depot has found a good home and would like to see more pictures of it and I would also like to pin point the location.  The book is kind of vague  about it.  The train that operates on the line is a narrow gauge steam engine once owned by Ollie Johnston, one of Disney's famous nine old men animators.

later,

Ray

Aloha - grey and cold. Sending it your way, SJ. Just back from the library, dropping off forgotten items at the youngest's school, and grocery shopping. Highlight: free taco from food truck in the store parking lot. Arkaday - that is great price for that train. I have a much beloved 248 from the 1920s, with its two cars and it runs like a top!

Now it's raining - must be because Fife washed the Durango first.

Morning all hope this day finds all in good health and spirits. Need to finish getting dress and craw up on roof and get the part off the satellite dish that they want. so I can send it back to them and they can put it where the sun don't shine. Other than that need to go into Johnston to make sure I know where I'm going tomorrow to take our cat to become a Bruce Jenner.

Other than that no big plans for today. Do need to rearrange this room some more so I can get around in it. Sooner or later I need to find  my curve track and sort out my gargraves O-72 and O-63 and put it up for sale as I do not have anywhere I can use it for a long long time if ever. ( not unless I can convince the wife to sell a couple of hutches the dining room table and let me have the dining room for my trains ( you know what will freeze over like 100 times first)

Well time to get moving talk to you all later have a good day all, talk to you all

Arkady sent you a message about some passenger cars I have you might like prewar.

Fifedog I have plenty of postwar going to the chopping block send me a email or PM if interested

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 60 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Gonna wash Durango and Fifemax today.  Any guess which will be easier....?

Arkady - I totally get what you're stating about the nostalgia of Prewar (Postwar in my case).  I just have to remind myself that the engines are old, and rest them after 15 minutes or so, as to not tax their decades old motors.

Good evening all,

Quiet, busy day at work except for one incident with the usual suspect.  Stayed off my feet today and did not even go out at noon.   Watched Arrow tonight.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Happy Birthday, Ray!!

Got back last night, trip was great, had a great time with the Princess.  Tears flowed quite freely as we said good bye.  Its great that our father-daughter relationship is so close.  She really is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

We made a quick stop, like we always do, to Colonial Photo and Hobby outside Orlando.  Unfortunatly, nothing caught my interest.  Maybe next time.

Twas hot, but the Princesses new apartment was not cheap on the AC, and that's the way they keep it 68-72.

Doing laundry, going to head upstairs for a few.

I thought the Pepsi thing was humourous, some are just overly sensitive, I suppose.

Maybe I'll may York some day.....

I went to a local (Altoona PA) train show this weekend, and did something a bit out of character for me.  I've long been a postwar enthusiast, and over the past few years I've been getting more and more into modern 3rs (but no command control).  But the only prewar tinplate I have is what I inherited from my parents.

This time, having seen nothing 3rs that interested me (or at a price I thought fair), my eyes fell upon a prewar Lionel 259E with four tinplate cars.  Everything was in superior condition, and the price for the lot was $150.  So on a whim, I bought it.

The tender was missing its coupler, so I stopped at a parts dealer on the way out and bought a replacement.  Once I got home, I started cleaning and lubing the locomotive.  It didn't show any signs of serious wear, so not much work was required.  Then I cleaned the wheels on the rolling stock and gave everything a coat of wax, to clean, shine and protect.

But it wasn't till today that I had a chance to set up some 027 track on the basement floor and get it all rolling.  Except for a bit of trouble with one of my Marx 027 switches (I swapped in another one), everything was great!  Watching the colorful little consist buzzing around the track was a satisfying experience, very different from the kick I get from the scale equipment, or even the postwar.

Nothing like watching a nearly eighty-year-old train set, still churning along the way it did on some long-ago Christmas morning.  Next step will be some passenger cars for the 259E to pull.

Morning.  Pretty day out.  Clean out greenhouse and get ready for Yankee cold.

Hope all are OK.  Buckeye, get well!!!!  Too much of that old man.

Sorry Banks.  Hang in there.  Also, getting a little old like me to be playing a lot of Un-American sports.

Loved the Cola thingy.  Think I'll send that to my Legislators.  State retirees didn't get a COLA this year and its our money.  They have to apporve.  Our retirement system is rich.

Ray, belated Happy Birthday.

Have a good one.

Good evening all,

As good as we played a month ago in the 0-0 tie, we were that much more awesome and more in a 11 v 11 matchup tonight.  Three quick goals in the first 10 minutes set the tone as we cruised to a 7-1 win.   We passed, we talked, we defended and we shot our way to a very satisfying victory.   I did the entire 50 minutes and my legs are paying for it now, but it was great on the field.  I made some nice touches, even received a pass or two, and did well for the limits I had.  If we keep hitting on all cylinders, we can win the title.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Thanks guys for the birthday greetings.  My oldest son and his wife took us out for a birthday lunch a day early yesterday because he had to work today.  My youngest son is home today so we will have another birthday dinner with him tonight.  My grandson has his birthday next Saturday but he is in college.  Will celebrate his later in the month.  I am 79 now and not counting anymore.  I never thought I would get this far.

Sad news about our USC football coach getting fired over drinking problems.  I wish him a good recovery but the team needs a sober coach.

Have a good day,

RayDinner

Kevin,

As I posted in the reporting forum, I didn't see an attack, just an attempt at making a joke. I didn't see any reason to delete the post.

Yeah Bob, a Coke or Pespsi is about as close to COLA as the workers of today will ever get. Wink

Hello all

Got in a small box over the weekend and opened it up last night. Oh boy, lot's of beautiful diesel power in N gauge. Couple of U-boats, an RSD, an Alco RS-1 (yeah, baby!), and a very impressive SF Dash 80. A few western road cars rounded out the mix. Looking forward to running them on the new layout.

Thanks Fife! and enjoy those K units. They are beautiful locos. Cool idea to open the box up w/ the grandson!

Couple of days on the hill and then we start the week on/week off rotation.

Kev - the detail on that 0-8-0 is impressive and the drive rod linkage is great. Will look good in slow motion working your logging area.

Thanks SJ, That Santa Fe USRA #123 from Bob has a nice set of drive gears and action for a starter model.

Hey Roy, I was down your way for a week in a place called Springtown west of Fort Worth. Are you anywhere close to there? Chances are if Red beats his fight with the big C I will be going again.

Too windy to burn leaves today.  Tongue Tied

Roy that layout is one large loop all the trains were running on it. The orangr DT&I was mine. We had 4 trains on there and had room for more but most of the time you can't see where your train is. I used the horn to follow mine. I did bump one train as I rounded a curve one of the other trains had stopped. Twas fun but you gotta stay alert.

Hi all,

Back from some vacation travel. Tired and caught a cold on the last day.

Looks like I may have to miss York. Some big train work projects are running behind due to parts availability and supplier issues. So have to double up efforts to make delivery dates. Bummer.

Buckeye - take care! See you in the Spring hopefully.

Banks - So sorry.  Our condolences to you and your family Angel

Ray - Happy B-Day Drinks Dinner Cake

Going to the State Fair of Texas today. Daughter is off so she is coming along (so we can pay). Corny Dogs and Funnel Cakes for all!

Have a great day all!
