Sun and 50s today, windy, leaves blowing everywhere.

I am waiting till next week for the last grass hair cut. Any leaves after that will have to spend the winter with us. For me the MTH catalog was pretty bland, nothing I can't live without. I do like the W&LE hopper but Pat's trains already had some when we stopped there in April.

Good morning from a cold and gray North Bluff above Marseilles IL.

Yeah the yard is knee deep in Oak leaves now and nothing much I can do till they dry out. Tongue Tied

John, I am thinking I need a project car.  Automobile

Cold 35 may make it to 49 with lots of clouds. Yuck! Shed and train room weather. Cat is in.

A question,,,I got a strange e-mail from Doug Wallace, no title line and an attachment inside something about Red-Dot Therapy????? I did not open it because of the no title line and I am not sure who Doug Wallace is. I was thinking it is DougDG so I sent him a PM and asked if it was him but have not heard back from that. I thought that maybe someon has hacked his e-mail addreess. Any ideas?

Mornin' Fellas

Good to hear DJ is still vertical! Great news on Tyler as well.

They did shoot down the Giant White Blimp, they had to wait till it was in an area that it could safely be downed and the blimps altitude was low enough to do so. Someone will get a promotion out of this one!

I too need to reach out to JT. I received some post war items that need some tending to and two of them I think he has worked on before.

Can't remember what else I was going to say... must not be that important.

Good evening all !

Fife, "War of the Worlds", the first version w/Gene Barry(a.k.a. Bat Masterson), was one of my favorites. The newest one with what's his face as most of the newer movies rely more on special effects more than anything else. If you were to search youtube you might be able to find the original radio broadcast w/Orsone Wells to entertain the kiddos.

Had a regularly scheduled visit to the pacemaker clinic today, they hooked me up to the dynomometer and put it and the ticker thru their paces. Everything passed with flying colors, kind of a funny feeling though when they stimulate the heart and you feel it react like that. Next four month check-up will be done remotely thru the monitor on the nightstand that sends/receives info from the pacemaker. Under current circumstances my battery should be good for seven years+.

Have to fine tune friday's lunch menu, got some halloween pasta (shaped like witches/cats/pumpkins/etc) so I plan on making a good red sauce and serve it with "Oozing Eyeball Meatballs" and time permitting I might even do a Kitty Litter Cake. Chef  Smile, Wink & Grin

Prayers for all those in need.

Night all.

Good evening all,

Still wet here.  Interesting, busy day at work.  Did not get doors on bookcases tonight and I have a game tomorrow so it will probably wait until next week.  Started putting boxes in cases to see how things could fit.  So far so good.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Boy Glad that is over with. Had me up. John was working at school and I bet he missed the whole thing. Duck and cover.  Laugh

Good point Fife!!!  Smile, Wink & Grin He did tell me a way to make the back of your eyes feel better.  Surprise BTW that 6464-900 is a great looking car. Get that from RT?

I did work on the old kit cars from Bob today and have found they have a big problem crossing modern turnouts with those sliding shoes. Will work on it some more. I do like them even if they end up on a side track at the Railroad Museum I am thinking of doing next. It will be my IRM Doug.

Still rain, So be it.

Sorry had to step away and did not get to finish. Anyway,,, Very good to hear form DJ and know that Tyler is doing good. Wonder if JimmyT is a married man yet.

The all-clear has been given.  I guess I no longer have to shelter in place.

I entertained the kids at dinner tonight, telling them about Orson Wells' War of the Worlds broadcast, and how today's event might have led to mass hysteria decades ago.

This just in.

Giant white blimp has broken free from over APG.  Heading for Hudson John's house.  F16's have intercepted.

That is all.

Good  - okay...Kev, buddy, I've never been to an eye exam where they bend you over.  However, I have had some bend-over exams where I thought the back of my eyes were being scratched...

Where was I?  Yes!  Bad leaves.  Bad leaves.  I had the whole yard and driveway clear yesterday.  Wish you could've seen it.

Just tinkering with the new-to-me postwar stuff.  Fixed the coupler on the 6464900, and put on a new handrail on the 2035.  Took the toothbrush to everything else, and "skimmed" all the metal with WD40.  Looks great Bob & Will.

Good Morning,

Patricia's rain sure knocked the heck out of the leaves. Once/if it dries up and I can clean them up I think I will be done for the year.

Won a "new" take off weed wacker head assembly with a new Auto-Cut 25-2 string trimmer for my Stihl FS 85 wacker on the bay for $49.00.   I can use it, I broke the gear head a few years ago on my second head for the saw and glued it. Well it broke again clearing a killing field for Dan out back two weeks ago. So now I will have a replacement for it and the trimmer head. My trimmer head is pretty used up. That Stihl has been working hard for 12 years now.

The trip to the eye Dr. cost $445.00 and the Insurance only picked up $205.00 so I was out of $240 but it will be good to see again. Sucks getting old. They just keep bending you over.

Doug, At least the poor guy got to sleep in his own bed last night for a change. Laugh

Aloha from a rainy Chicago. Lots of traffic caused by the President's visit caused me to miss my usual train after class last night but I had a good book to read! Looks like my big morning meeting is changed to a conference call because everyone's flights are delayed or cancelled. What am I going to do with all these donuts and coffee Big Smile

Brent, I like the BenQ 27s.
Charlie, I love geared steam. What a nice trip!

Mornin' Fellas

Lots of rain in the DelMarVa today. Makes the leaves come down faster, and with all the professional drivers around here the roads are simply AWESOME!

Why is it so hard to comprehend that when it rains you should slow down. Not drive 5 mph on a 65 mph hi-way, but slow down... maybe to 55? When it rains and there are leaves on the road = slippery, nearly as slippery as ice! So slow down and leave more room between you and the car ahead of you... oh and to you drivers that think you are the only one headed to work... that extra distance is not for you to speed along and cut someone off then slam on your brakes! Same when it snows. SoapBox

Love driving the Durango. Such a joy for a large vehicle.

Been looking at new monitors for the home office. If I land a new job, I'm probably going wiht 2 BenQ 27" monitors and 1 BenQ 24" monitor. I'll put the 27s on the outside in landscape and the 24 in the middle in portrait. With the mount I'm looking at I'll open up quite a bit of desktop space. Will make grading papers much easier for TheQ and when I'm working from home I'll be able to do so much more. Noticed one of the tower fans appears to be throwing a bearing... so also have to research a replacement. I've had the tower for 3 years, never turn it off, and the liquid cooler for the processor has never kicked on! Tons of space inside and with 4 120mm fans it really moves some air.

Good evening all,

Games postponed to Thursday.  Fields were way too soggy.   Long day at work, but good night at home as the bookcases are anchored and doors are on 3 bookcases.  Doors will be placed on the other 2 Wednesday.   May have come up with an idea that will solve a lot of headaches at work.   Watched Izombie tonight.  Best show on television right now and definitely on my top 10 list of all time shows.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Buckeye,

We rode with Cass Scenic all the way to the top at Bald Knob.  Love all that geared steam!  Some very cool history on those mountains.

Good afternoon, I had no plans for today.

So I decided on an new eye doctor today. Nice guy and I got right in. No hype just plain talk and common sense. No new frames, just a new set of lenses so I can see again. He claims I am getting old and everything looks normal for my age.

Well came home from the eye doctor to find a da#@ dead ash across the driveway at the big culvert. Had to push it out of the way with the tractor. Then I ate and had to take a pair of frames back so they can get new lenses for them.  So guess I will clean up the rest once the rain stops. Always something here.  Bang Head

Hello there,

Tired as he** but wide awake.............go figure???????

Mrs and I got home from Lancaster on Saturday with just over an hour to get to granddaughter's birthday party. Yesterday was spent recovering and doing winter prep.

York trip was great!!!!!! Mrs & I had breakfast with John Fullerton, Laz & Mrs Laz at ROC. Ran into 88 at lunch. Then met up with all the above plus Fife, Mrs Fife and Bob Mitchell for a photo op at the CTT booth. Kinda expected PTC but he was a No Show

Brent............Photobucket  is still free.

went back to the CTT booth later to pick up the Layouts and Store displays and they were sold out?????????

The show was great as usual. Did notice that Purple and Brown halls were a bit sparse but the rest were packed. They should consider thinning them instead of consolidating purble and brown.

Overall I saw more Gilbert HO than ever. Most prices were really good. Some super high and some at fire sale levels.  I bought two Gilbert pieces cheap and a pair of 012 prewar turnouts.

Dozing off here......more later

Prayers for those in need

Good evening all,

Busy day at work.  Some people can not make up their minds.....   Good night at home as the bookcases are put together and we are getting help with doors, platforms and anchoring.   Watched Jane the Virgin.   Supposed to start tourney Tuesday, but it is also supposed to rain to beat the band.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Evenin Y'all.

Nice day here, mid 80's I think. Clear and lots of sun.

Buckeye, Get well soon. No pun intended but in time all things will pass.

Fife, Farmall Cub, that's what I learned to drive on about 60yrs ago.

Think I finally found someone to come in to do a significant repair to the sprinkler system, pending estimate of course. Planned on doing it myself but the BetterHalf threw a hissy fit. To much pick & shovel work so I accepted her request, at least til we get some estimates in.

Everybody about ready for all the ghosts & goblins to come calling on saturday ?

Friday and saturday will be a killer, all day at the museum on friday then finish up the halloween garage that night. Saturday is kid's club at the museum so will be down there all day, good thing is we haven't had the time change yet so that helps.

Later all.

But what I really got interested in was his 1947 IH Farmall CUB tractor!  Tried to talk Wifey into it, but she wouldn't bite.  Not even when I hummed the theme to Green Acres...

This ain't over.

Those are great tools Fife, you got to sell it to her as a tool not a toy.. And it will do all kinds of stuff. My wife thought I was out of it when I went and got the JD Gator,(2005)  and then the JD 3203. (2006) That was 9 and 10 years ago. She spends as much time on the Gator as me and we could not control this place without the 3203. So hang in there!!!!

Evenin' boys.  60 with a big yellow moon rise in the Mid-Atlantic region.  One of Wifey's co-workers' husband asked that I check out his layout.  He wanted to get rid of everything, but it was all HO, and I simply haven't any desire in Bachmann.  I did take his plywood, which was cut in two, which I can use on the next layer of the North Pole layout this year.  He also had a box of ceramic houses that I can utilize at the bank layout.  But what I really got interested in was his 1947 IH Farmall CUB tractor!  Tried to talk Wifey into it, but she wouldn't bite.  Not even when I hummed the theme to Green Acres...
