Good Afternoon,

Kinda lazy day here today.  Spent most of the morning trying to figure out what I'm going to do about the MTH batteries in the engines.  Finally decided on building my own Capacitor Alternative.  Found some really good instruction and plenty of refferals.

There goes the electronics.  Is that fire engines I hear in Cerritos????

oFife, Surprised you're not out behind the "tiller" already, your welcome here anytime.  All you gotta do is head out of the bay, turn right, go down to the Big Ditch, then continue on bearing right.  When you see the line of container ships, just negotiate around them.  Dock where ever then give me a call, and I will buy dinner.

Chief, Sorry to hear about Ms. Edna!  That may really leave a vacuum down there, hopefully they will be able to keep the store open.

Great funeral as funerals go.  Going to do train show and then close shop.

Kay is taking her parents to one of the casinos on Tuesday, I'm going to stay at home and answer the phones, will have some quite time.

Not much else to report on, think I will go out to the train room this afternoon.  So take care all and STAY HEALTHY.

This software sucks. Confused

Good morning all,

Fifedog, "even railroading can become a grind".  That is true but depends on what railroad you work for.  The old SP was more user friendly but the company that took it over, not so much.

Chief, condolences for Ms Edna.  I know you spoke of her often and apparently she was your go to source locally for train stuff.  We lost our local hobby shop owner not too long ago also.  The shop was close to home.  Now the place was sold and the business closed by his widow.  Nearest shop now is clear on the other side of town.

Church festival is concluding today.  So far the recent rain has missed them.

Fife,

Congrats on your retirement! Know you are going to enjoy it. Our niece's husband is Maryland Transportation Authority Police, he was downtown throughout the mess guarding police stations. A cousin's son-in-law is Baltimore City PD. He's got about 18 years in, not sure if he'll last to retirement. As for me, I'm now on the one year plan. I'll re-evaluate yearly.  In July I'll start year 40.  That's a nice round number, but you ever know, I might go longer.

Enjoy your retirement.

Chief - After wearing the same outfit for 30 years, it will be odd to actually have to color coordinate.  Fortunately, I'm in Tommy Bahama season.

Yes, understand.  After 30 years of suit and tie, I fight to put them on now.  Usually, Mayor's uniform.  Embroidered shirt or golf shirt [Mayor, Town of Rolesville NC] and dress pants.

Beautiful day here.  Things growing.  No rain in sight.  Longest time with no rain in months.

Hope all have a great week a head.

Chief sorry about Ms Edna. I know you will miss her.

Mornin' boys.  Overcast and 68 here in the soggy Mid-Atlantic region.  Day 1 is in the books.  Spent most of it in Chestertown for the middle princess's college graduation.  Stopped by the Nauti Goose for burgers, then hurried home so the gals could take off for Atlantic City.  It was me, youngest princess and grandson (first sleepover with just Fifepops).  He was pretty good until bed time....

jonadel - Hope to get a lot of time at the tiller this season. Pirate

Northwoods - With grandson around, railheads shouldn't get too rusty. Thanks.

rt - Probably around month 14 it'll hit me I'm not returning. Dunce

laz - Won't be too many missed YORKS in my future. Yes

Banks - Any dockside bar will do for me. Paradise

Chief - After wearing the same outfit for 30 years, it will be odd to actually have to color coordinate.  Fortunately, I'm in Tommy Bahama season.

sirjames - got to ease into it, I'm sure.

SPMan - Thanks.  Every job becomes a grind at some point.  Even railroading, I bet.

KRM - just need the internal alarm clock to turn off

V8Vega - I'll take 0530.

8ntruck - Except for these past hard winters, 3 years went quick.

88 - As it turned out, 30 of us left this go 'round, which was a big number for the county.  We all agreed, it was nothing to do with the current climate, just time to go after 30.  When I came on, every guy would leave after just 20.

Fife,

Congratulations on your retirement. Big Smile  Its been fun counting down with you until this transition in your life.  I remember when it was years in the countdown for laz, and then it was years and months for your countdown. Its amazing how quickly the time  passes.

I wish you happiness, contentment and wonderful family times in the days, months, and years ahead.  Oh, and may there be plenty of opportunities to play with your trains.  Wink

Best of luck!

Well the sky opened up and it dumped 1" in 5 to 10 minutes. Driveway is washed out needless to say and water is running over the top of the berm behind the shed. Guess I will need to get the over priced bucket loader out to do some fixing here in a bit. Good thing I left the grader on the back of it. I need to get some loads of dirt to fix the berm. Hmm

Chief, that is to bad about Mrs. Edna Angel She is the one you got me the K-Line 72" curves from right?

Welcome to the best part of your life the part you can do as you wish and when you wish ( other than when the one we must obey speaks) I actually enjoy it and been now in this catagory for like 14 months and really love it. Getting a little to laid back so need to work on that some but other than that I'm doing good.

Need to straighten a couple of things up like paint the wood part of the house and replace some exterior moulding first or as doing so, so its done right but anyway

You have entered the time of your life you need to be enjoying. Welcome to retirement

Good evening all,

A good day.  Sore from last night, but work went well today.  Daughter got home without drama.  30 inch mower worked well tonight and talked to our contractor tonight as well.  Will break ground sometime between June 1 and June 15.  Sarah's driver got some air time today.  Happy Birthday, Doug M, and Happy Retirement, Fifedog!  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,
