Mornin' FellasRolled out two system wide enhancements last night and they appear to have resolved the issues they were meant to resolve. Last week we rolled out a new integration project and while it has been bumpy it has been a very well received upgrade. Fife - to Princess #1. Have fun with grandpup. We should try to get the kiddos together for some play time and train time. Missing York will be tough, I may make October if I have enough vacation time, but for now I'm not planning on it. Have a cup of lemon ice cream for me!Christina keeps asking to go down to the train room and either run trains or work on rocks. I picked up two more containers of hydracal on Saturday so we can now make some more rock castings. Hope to get down there tonight to work on the area I've been working on and maybe get some work done on the rail yard. Would like to have this section finished by the end of April... we'll see.

Today's high hit the upper-60s and it was mostly sunny. I had a productive day at the office and accomplished all the tasks I needed to. I did catch parts of the ladies' NCAA championship game; those UConn ladies are fantastic players. We had some polish sausage and salad for dinner tonight. I have some reading on the agenda for the evening.
SJ - I saw Charlie's PM that contained Jeffrey's address. I would send a card but it may not make it while he is still there. Thanks for the information.

Getting ever closer to York week. I have kept myself busy trying to get the basement completed. Paint and carpet are being selected at present. I have some doors, cabinets and trim to hang but progress is steady.

Thought I better update my status. Had new X-Rays done today, and what a difference! The technician that was on duty was the same technician I have had on numerous occasions. I explained to him that I had just had X-Rays done last Friday, but a different person was on duty. After, I explained to him what had happened on Friday, and what I was asked to do and he was appalled.
So he redid the films, and what a difference! Or at least I think so. So am looking forward to my appointment on Thursday. If the Lord is willing and the Devil don't care, I will be able to advance to the next stage.
Stopped by Knott's on the way home, wanted to pick up some theater tickets at the employee store. Saw most of the guys from the railroad, seems things were pretty much the same. Lots of frustration among the crew due to some personnel changes in the management, resulting in numerous changes. As of today no more "Cab Rides", everyone must clock in and out for lunch. And other miscellaneous items of concern. The caboose has been taken off the operating roster due to dry rot in the floor, another car had also been removed due to brake issues. And things were on hold due to finances and available labor. Will be interesting to see how things are when I go back. Never can tell what that will be like, will just have to wait and see.
So overall, I'm very happy, really looking forward to Dr. Appointment.

Busy day at work. Good day at work. Got to walk outside today. Could have been dressed warmer for the weather, but made it ok. First day of project at home went well. Wife only had to call me 5 times. Amazed at what we had done the first time around and what we had to work with back then. Tomorrow is a big day as we are having a crucial step done. Once that is done, I think there will be only one major hurdle to face. So far all is well. I hope everyone has a good day.

We are planning two long vacations this year and I want to bank as much vacation for the end of the year as we are quite busy in December these days. Until I get rid of the house in Pittsburgh it will continue to be... sighFife - hope it all works out on the property... 7 beagles will keep you up at night if they are housed outdoors.Not sure I like the new phone case. It over doubles the phone thickness and the face bevel is about 1/8 inch deep so it makes doing anything on the screen difficult around the edges. Oh and it nearly doubles the weight too. We'll see.

We need to get to tax preparer this week. This has been the worst year I can remember getting ready for it. Wife and I are both getting older and finding it harder to keep track of things. I have to take a bigger role to help her do the things she used to do for both of us. She spoiled me over the years but now it's time to pay the piper.

Good Morning All !
First, I really appreciate all the thoughts and prayers !
I had my Dr appt. yesterday, didn't go quite as I expected. The good news was upon the initial review of the X-Ray, he was quite pleased with the amount of bone growth. Then went on to say that he thought the effectiveness of the External Fixator had been achieved, and thought it could be removed ! Boy, was I excited to hear that, I was anticipating atleast a couple more weeks or possibly 4. Then he was reviewing the X-Ray further and noticed that a portion of the tibia had a curve about 4" above the ankle. And that could cause an alignment problem between the knee and ankle joints. The fibula however was straight and solid. The issue is the tibia would not be able to be straightened due to the rigidity of the fibula. The alternative would be to go in and cut the fibula to allow straightening of the tibia. That doesnt seem like a good idea too me, essentially breaking the leg AGAIN, then more recovery and down time.
As there are a number of screws still in there, and the Dr was comparing X-Rays from this month and the previous month, I noticed that the tailend of the screws were not in the same position relative to one another, when looking at the comparison. And thought that the concern may be a result of the perspective views of the X-Rays. The Dr. agreed. Then I told him that the technician for the most recent X-Ray, did things totally different from the previous technicians. Initially he wanted me to stand on a stool, and he was going to do the X-Ray while I was standing ! All the others I was laying on the table. Then when I told him I couldn't stand on the stool, he had me lay on the table and did the X-Ray from a different angle then the others did. So the Dr ordered new X-Rays and was very specific as to how he wanted them. So getting that done today, then back to the Dr on Thursday. So obviously, I'm hoping this will resolve the concern.
The Dr indicated that as long as the two joints are within 5% alignment, it is not a concern how the tibia is in between the joints, that it doesn't need to be perfectly parallel, that they are not naturally. Then I need to understand better the pro and cons of any further procedures before I go down that path. So we will see.
Other than that everything is good. The B-29 is almost done, started working on a kit for a gas station/country store. Been painting all the parts prior to assembly.
Went to a train meet this past Sunday in Pasadena, (TTOS), didn't buy anything but enjoyed the outing.
Still helping Bob fixing stuff, but that probably will go on forever.

Oh yeah, for those of you who get Trains magazine, (OK to say that here), on page 29 is an article regarding Knott's. The engine in the picture is the one I fell off of, as a matter of fact the day that picture was taken I was on the left side of the cab, I'm not in the photo.
Brent, congrats on the new phone. There was an article published here about how people are able to hack into the features that pertain to home security and open the door locks and acess other features, be careful.
Will get back when I find out more, I will let you know what I see on the X-Rays later.

Joe the only updates I have for Jeffrey is that his rehab time could take awhile, he is in good spirits and you can get the address from another web site. You know which one. Cards have been sent. You might have to go back a few pages but it's there.

Today is a take it easy day. School went well last night. A new trend got started in my Auto Body 2 Class: Pedal Car Restoration! The guys are having a blast with them. Nothing new on the train front. Just waiting for York!
Brent: Sounds like you had a blast at the German Restaurant. Your kids are real cuties and I will bet they were well behaved. Good Luck with the HVAC and Securtiy Systems. Going to miss you at York but there is October.

We enjoyed some lovely weather today: the high reached the upper-60s and it was sunny. This morning, I had a brief three-mile before hitting the gym for a quick workout. The workday was fine and uneventful. I made a pork stir fry for dinner tonight and it turned out okay. I think I'll treat myself to some ice cream tonight.
MLB would definitely benefit from speedier games and less time between pitches. Some players are way out of control and spend over 10 seconds outside of the batter's box between pitches. There are some slow moving pitchers as well, but as already stated, the Japanese pitchers move quickly.
Hudson John - I'm glad you enjoyed your Spring Turkey.
I hope Don B.'s appointment goes well.

Also, HOA prez has 7 beagles... Gotta whole year before we break ground, so no need to be hasty at this time. Did get back to railfanning, and chased a coal train headed to Mt Storm as it snaked it's way around the Potomac's north branch. Today, 20 bags of red mulch are calling my name.
BUSY DAY and NIGHT. Off to bed. Rained all day.

Had a nice visit from my parents this weekend. Took them to the German Restaurant in Hagerstown, MD that TheQ and I like. They were impressed not only with the atmosphere and food, but also with how much Christina and Matthew ate. Matthew is an impressive eater for a 14 month old... he can really pack away the calories! Christina doesn't eat much but she really likes sausages and Germans are known for their wursts! Needless to say we all ate too much. Dropped my cellphone again on Saturday... and yes it required another replacement... this is twice in 2 months, so not I really have to be careful with the new phone because I don't reset till next February. Any way, my old phone was a Samsung Note2, and since Assurian was out of those I got a new Samsung Note3. Nice phone. Lighter than the Note2, not as 'round', back cover is plastic but has a leatherette feel to it, and of course a different battery (would have had 3 if the same battery as Note2) and they have a different charging port/connector. The microUSB port is still there so you can use those chargers, but there is a extra slot/connector beside it... looks like a USB3.0 port, but not sure.Looking forward to playing with this thing to see what all it can do. Not sure if I will get the Samsung Gear Watch to go with it... depends how much I like the case I ordered (Otterbox).Really going to miss York this year, but too many other things going on and need to bank the vacation time.New HVAC gets installed in 3 weeks... and getting a new Home Security System so I can control the garage doors, thermostat, house lights, and maybe an IP camera or two - all from my smart phone.

My son and I got a lot acomplished outside yesterday. Cleaned all of the flower beds, redid a lot of the ledgerock, weeded and mulched the front. Then we had a nice turkey dinner with all of the trimmings. Today it is take Doray to PT and school tonight.

Chief: We had a bunch of those Reliants in our fleet also. Not one of our favorites, but then not many cars in the 80's were. lol The Acclaim was a much better car. Too bad Chrysler dropped the ball with the Breeze.

Aloha. Kind of grey today, still cold. This weekend, I braved the weather to do yard work and get out the deck furniture. I poured a couple hundred pounds of pea gravel around an area that had trouble draining this winter. So I feel like I accomplished something. I successfully surprised the bride with a birthday party of her friends on Friday night. Her actual birthday is this Sat. so I fooled her good. Looks like a busy week. Hope Spring eventually springs. . . Happy belated birthday Dennis!Joe, I sure enjoy Japanese baseball - the ballpark experience is so fun, and the pace of the game sure makes a difference, as well as the professionalism of the players. They definitely have the basics down and they pitch quickly.

AF Ray and Ken - I'm glad CC got his first win. The biggest differences I have observed between MLB and Japanese professional baseball are the game's tempo, the focus on small-ball, the players seem more fundamentally sound (less errors), and the better ballpark experience (the fans sing the entire game, but they know the game and are extremely courteous). These are all good things I believe MLB could benefit from, especially the faster tempo. Japanese players do not take a minute to collect themselves after every pitch.
Moved 2 trees today. Helped wife prep back bathroom for workers. Busy day. Did some other things, but can' t remember what it was. Saw where the Silver Arrows swept the F-1 race. NASCAR needs to look into rain tires for oval races if they want races ran as scheduled. How many delays and postponements has this made now? Still tired from Saturday. Hey guys, quick stop in as I'm taking a break from the Reliant. Head is off and removed the remnants of the #2 pistons and rod - 3 pieces if you include the rod cap. When I blow 'em up they're REALLY blown.
Sunny now, have no idea on temps as I've been in the shop all day. Going to clean up and head home as I still have laundry to do.

Went to TCA train meet yesterday which was celebrating former member Ward Kimball's 100th birthday if he had lived that long. Lots of pictures and stories. They even had music from his Firehouse 5 plus Two Dixieland Band. He was quite a guy.
Think I will pass on going to TTOS meet today. Both meets to close together. By the time I get back from church it will be too late anyhow.
Got off the freeway yesterday because of heavy traffic Westbound and took a route parallel to the new Gold Line. Lots of construction going on. This thing will be great if they ever finish it.
Dinner last night with our widowed friend. I had spaghetti with meat sauce. Did I say meat. Never found any in it. Paid about $15 for $3 worth of food. Next time I will just get a hamburger.

Afternoon. Was sunny and windy with more chill than the last few days. Now partly cloudy. The rain forecasted for Friday is suppose to get here tomorrow. Farmers are preparing land for planting as it has dried out a lot.
