This. Is a good day to run trains!
Morning all. Sunny and turning partly cloudy with 25% chance of a shower. I think the low last night was 70. Mid 80's yesterday. Left early and Grady and I did the yard and leaves at the lake house. Got back home last night at 10:00+. Beat. Wore the old man out. Taxes this afternoon with CPA. Batching it until Sunday night. Wifey gone to work and leaving from there for GA. Going to see buddy Gail that use to live here in Roseyville.
jonadel Knob Creek? I'm impressed
Knob Creek? I'm impressed
Actually a gift. Knob Creek 120 proof if I can not find Bakers [wonder where I got that name from?]. Bakers is better. Some ABC stores [controlled by county and state] do not carry Bakers. Roseyville's store does. Stopped at one on the way to the lake and asked for Bakers. Then Knob Creek 120 proof. Ended up with Knob Creek 100 proof. Operator [county employee] said, "Us folks in Franklin Co. can't afford that high priced liquor." But they do love their moonshine.

Mornin' fellas and gals; Hey John; The work on the transmission lines are in full swing. Happily it is miles away from where i live. However, i did pass by some of the destruction to the Highlands in my travels. Sad sight to see. That's progress. The insatiable need for more and more power rules. On a lighter topic; don't be too sad; look at the bright side; the Bronx bums only have 160 games of misery left! later.
Think good thoughts, do good deeds!
60 and cloudy in Central Jersey.
Took Mom to the Doc's this morning. She is doing good. Spending the day here and heading home tomorrow. Train work to do down at my "Branchline". Everyone is encouraging me to expand it. To think it started as a test loop on a 4x8 table to test out my repairs as I stayed overnight to help her out with the cancer treatments.
Ken: Like you said that is progress. Going to York?
Chief: Sounds like you are having some nice weather. It is dropping to around freezing at night so the outside water is not turned on yet. Maybe next week. I want to get the lawn ready before York.
Enjoy the Day!
John
Afternoon all.
Man I had the treat of all treats today. Got to the flea market ( forgot to tell you N/S rails are across the street. anyway ( of coarse no camera and as fast as it was going I would had a hard time legally catching it) but a Norfolk southern F units A-B-A in southern green paint scheme but said Norfolk Southern and 12 Tuscan red Norfolk Southern passenger cars in tow. man was that ever a pretty site to see.

Aloha. Cold, windy and rainy. Cold. Did I mention cold? Took the car in to find nothing wrong with it - I guess that's OK - I swear the power steering fluid was leaking. Listening to the White Sox get walloped by the Twins in front of about 16 fan. That's a nice image, RT, I saw that train once south of Chicago.

Good evening all,

Keep on training,

The ice is so bad on the lakes the Canadian Coast Guard brought in the Pierre Radisson Icebreaker along with another vessel of equal size to help break out the lakes. The "new" US Coast Guard Icebreaker Mackinaw just didn't have the might to get the job done. Mackinaw has been downbound with a convoy from Duluth for a week. The Pierre Radisson is currently meeting the convoy stuck in Whitefish Bay to assist them too the Soo.

Been busy all day and just getting around to posting on the forum at bed time. Wife and I sorting through stuff for tax preparation and I also drove to Burbank and back today (70 mile RT) to take my ailing SP Black Widow MTH F units in for repair. Got a chance to view some of the construction going on with the Gold Line Extension from Pasadena to Azusa/Glendora where I live. They are laying track in a lot of places and work is really going big time. The new segment is about 12 miles long and they are working in just about every location now.
Chief, that moon shine you mentioned must be some of the now legal brands like that guy on the Moonshiners TV show was making. What's the attractlon? Is it because it has a higher octane? I remember the ABC stores were selling some kind of stuff called grain alcohol years ago which was about 150 proof I think. Tried it once cut like heck with a mixer and it was still too strong. Don't drink at all now but I don't do a lot of things I used to.

Hi GUYZ,
It's been a while? Been busy here almost as busy as the BEE LINE. Been refinishing Adirondack chairs, for the neighbor lady. Also lots o cleaning up on the flower beds, lawn, ponds, picking up downed branches. All sorts of good stuff. Still didn't get out TROUT FISHIN. Started last Saturday but high creeks here so I ain't going. River is also very high. Been running trains and had a PILE UP last Friday. Electro coupler opened up and engine went in back of train. Oh the horror!!! Was a tank train but no oil was spilt. Beers have been tastin good too while running trains. Checked out the new Lionel catalog, Nice stuff pricy though. Not much in it for me. BUCKEYE will probably get that BB in it with all the money he has. Gee he even has a DUESENBURGH.
CHUCK, Baseball began!!! Our INDIANs won the first game but lost the second. Don't know how the second game of the DH went. Hope you shined up the Sno Cannon and put it away? NO more please?
JOEY D, hows the baseball team doing in Japan? Heard your moving back to OHIO, to help with the Sno Cannon? Ya gotta go to YORK then.

Good morning all,
Was thinking about church and thought, whatever happened to Phish? Haven't seen his post in a long time.
V8 Dennis, happy birthday Those figures about people who qualify for school breakfast is startling. Is it the sad state of the economy or is the elegibility set too low? Hard to believe that 500 and some odd thousand out of 6 something need it. I doubt if all those who are eligible are actually getting a school breakfast. Were those figures in the paper?
Good Evening! 40 degrees and Raining! Cold and Damp all day.
Busy day. Left Mom's drove home (57 mi). Took Doray to have the brace for her leg fitted, out to lunch, PT, took her to have her nails touched up, to the ice cream store to meet with a salesman then home for dinner. Relaxing by the fire. Later back to the ice cream shop, empty and defrost freezers. I thought I retired!
RT: I wish I saw those F units. Favorites of mine.
Doug M: Keep an eye out for the fluid leak.
Charlie: Thanks for sharing the pics and info about the ice on the Lakes. Unbelievable!
Laz: Count Ray and I in for York! John-son has College.
Dennis:
Rich: Prayers for your Dad.
SJ: Thanks for the info on Jeffrey.
David: Good to see you posting.
Chief: Our Governor held a Town Meeting yesterday in the Hometown of the Legislator who is leading the charge against him. No protestors, just thanks and praises!
Enjoy the Evening!
Hello there.
Back from frying fish.It was a slow night. Only 650 +/- We still went through a lot of fish because the line was short there was minimal waiting to go back through the line.
Now I'm sipping a glass of wine and shopping online for a TV to put in the new camper and a new pair of shoes
Laz..... Glad to hear from you
Somebody asked about Phish. I often wonder about him as well as WES. Anybody know what they're up to?
Hope to get some stuff done around the house tomorrow. Sundays plan is starting to transfer the contents of the old camper to the new one. The trip to York will be our 1st in the new camper. Looking forward to it
Son is hoping the rain quits long enough to get the plowing done. It's getting late. Also starting to look for a couple of feeders for next year.
Off to bed
Prayers for those in need

Good day at work. Everybody else stayed home or left early. Got all caught up on case reports. Did 50 in 3 days. That is a bunch. Watched Grimm tonight. Why do shows which are successful go off the deep end sometimes? They start off with a relatively simple premise and then muck it up with convoluted story lines. They wonder why shows go off the air so quickly. I got called to ref a second game tomorrow. Could be a long morning. At least now I have long johns to wear under the sweat pants. Still will be awfully cold. I hope everyone has a good day.

Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck,
The past two days were busy for me. The day at the firing range was long and tiring. It was also cold and wet since the range was near Mt. Fuji and copletely outdoors. Yesterday was the busiest Friday I had in quite some time and I was at the office until almost 1900. I slept in this morning until 0800 which was great. I took care of some chores around the house and did the grocery shopping since the wife's allergies are bothering her. I grilled som steaks for dinner and rented Epic for the kids.
SJ - Thanks for the information on Jeffrey. I'll pray for his recovery.
Happy Birthday V8!
Laz/Hudson John - I am trying to plan a visit to York for October. However, October 1st is our 20th wedding anniversary and we are planning a trip to France so I'm not sure if I can swing (afford) both.
Sayonara,
Joe
Good Morning from Blueberryhill......
Good Morning, Joe.........
It is a cold and cloudy 30 degrees. Going up to 48 today with a chance of sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I have an early errand to run and the usual chores to do. Then another errand and lunch. A nap is in order.
Usual breakfast on the dining car.
Happy Birthday, Dennis
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Mornin' fellas and gals; Hey John; Would love to go to York. Got the bum leg that goes dead on me from time to time. Not supposed to drive too long with the gimp. Would have to be the right leg. Might just tough it out any way. Maybe i can bribe one of my grandsons to come with me like the last time. Now only if they made the gas pedal on the left side.........ummm? later.
Afternoon all. Busy morning and afternoon. Now getting ready for the hockey game. Mayors have a free suite and food. Who cares about the game. Food is great.
Something happened to the cold front. Still hot. ???? No rain either as forecasted.
Hello everyone.
Just catching up on all the posts and I was surprised to (or not to) read about any April fools jokes or pranks! I just came from John's house as the UPS man delivered a box to the wrong house again.
Ken - Those Bumbs, as you would call em', will be just fine. And I believe the starting pitching will be our strength this year. York would be fun, come on.
Chief - Happy Anniversary to the Pot.
Dennis - Happy belated Birthday.

Perhaps the Mayors might care about the kids who go to bed tonight hungry. Just a thought.

So many roads, so little time.
Busy day. Reffed 2 games. One ended in a 2-2 tie and the other was a 6-0 blowout. Came home and watched Chelsea wax Stoke City 3-0. Spent the evening taking down the Standard Gauge layout on the back porch so we have space for the workers to have a staging area when they work on the back bathroom. Watch an episode of the "Closer" as well. More work to do tomorrow. May involve doing taxes and moving trees. I hope every one has a good day.
