Good evening all,

Don, glad you are dealing with your problem.  Getting rid of that extra hardware should help.

I had a quiet day today with just the wife and myself.  I took her with me to Penny's in Arcadia (about 15 miles) to exchange some clothes that I ordered the wrong size on.  We took the scenic route going over staying off the freeway for part of the way.  Came home and had a quiet lunch.  Our live in son called from work and says he won't be home tonight because they want him to work again tomorrow so he's staying over in Temecula.  Normally he only goes in about three times a week and works from home some of the time.  So since it will only be the two of us for dinner, don't think it's necessary to cook a big meal.

later,

Ray

Aloha. Sunnier today. Hope it lasts into tonight. I'm taking the middle boy to a Sox game for his birthday and will prepare for winter temps. Night basement is hard up here in April and May. Easter is a big deal at our church too - they balloon from 3 to 6 services - expect thousands...

Good morning all,

Dennis, sounds like a big church service you have for Easter.  We get large crowds too at Christmas and Easter.  Hope you and your neighbors are getting some results about that pit bull who is terrorizing the place.  I don't understand their inaction.  That animal has caused real damage to you and others.  Who is paying for that BTW?  That dog needs a strong dose of hot lead but I know you can't do that in the city.

We usually plan a big dinner for Easter with our kids and grandson but have not been motivated this year account personal problems.  We'll see what happens.  Maybe they will fix dinner.  That would be different.

No word yet on my MTH A-B-A F unit set in for repair.  I'll give them a call after a couple of weeks.  Don't know what kind of back log they have.  Ditto on my MTH Santa Fe Northern with the stripped gear but don't expect that one any time soon.

I haven't been in the train room for a few days now.  Need to get out there.

Read in the paper that Colorado is putting in MJ vending machines now like cigarette machines.  Isn't that wonderful.  I think they are buying trouble.  After all we have been through educating people about  smoking, now this.  We already have some of the so called medical marijuna places here.  What a joke.

Afternoon Fellas

Well I had my "Kids say the darndest things" moment this morning when dropping Christina off at daycare. Today is their Spring Party and one of her teachers was talking with me...

Teacher: Christina The Easter Bunny is coming today
Christina: OH
Me: Are you going to sit on his lap?
Christina (with a dramatic horrified look on her face): OH NO Daddy!

LONG PAUSE - wondering do I dare ask THE QUESTION?

Me: Why not?
Christina: Because The Easter Bunny EATS little kids

LONGER PAUSE

Me: No, The Easter Bunny brings candy for little kids to eat
Christina: OH, OK then.

off she went to play.

Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck,

I arrived home from Okinawa late last night.  It’s funny, after more than two years of living in Japan, I finally have the hang of train system.  It’s not a difficult system, but reading and understanding Kanji (written language) and Japanese would make it easier.  I had a good trip to Okinawa but the only photos I had time to take were of the sun setting Wednesday night.  I’ll try to post them in the next couple of days.  I did enjoy some good food while I was there which was nice.

Today I took a day of leave since the wife is out for the night on a ladies culture club trip.  The youngest and I took care of some chores including the grocery shopping.  I made sure to pick up the items I need to make Italian Easter pie (pizza to some) as well as the lamb for Easter dinner on Sunday.  Tomorrow will be busy as the older two kids have a piano recital and then we have baseball practice.

Ken – It sounds like you got this one right. Wink  I’m glad to hear your grandson is doing so well, especially since I’m sure the coach wasn’t cheap.  It would be interesting to know who it was.  By the way, did you notice who is on top of the AL East? Smile, Wink & Grin

Brent – That is a funny story. Laugh

Hello there,

Tried to sleep in this AM but with the help of Raven I was wide awake ready to go at my usual get up time of 4:45.

Did some stuff around the house and now I think I'll hit the treadmill and shower til Mrs gets awake.

Lots o stuff on the plate today then Good Friday service followed by frying fish. Last one this year. Always look forward to them but it's also a relief when they're done for the year.

I'll take this opportunity to wish everybody a Blessed and Happy Easter in case I don't get back before. The family gathering is at my folks place tomorrow evening.

Prayers for those in need

Mornin' boys.  Grey & 39 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Gonna mow the lawn before work.  Next door neighbor's house was burglarized yesterday evening (twice in last 6 months for them).  Pretty brazen, but the perp(s) seem to know what they're after.  I'm thinkin' former contractor, or worse, felon within eye-shot.

Good evening all,

I have a story for you.  In 1967, Parnelli had the field covered with the turbine when it quit with about 6 laps to go, putting AJ in the lead.  On the front straightaway on the last lap, there was a wreck involving several cars.  AJ slowed and drove around the mess.  The PA man, Tom Carnegie, was yelling, "Where is Foyt?  Where is Foyt?.... There he is, there he is." as AJ collected his 3rd win at Indy.  Tonight as I was completing my 13.1 mile practice jog for the Mini-Marathon, I thought I heard Tom saying, "Where is Mike?  Where is Mike?....There he is, there he is!!"   Gentlemen, I have never hurt so much as I did when I was doing that jog/walk tonight, but I finished the distance.   At the very end of the run, the local Honda train came by where I was working out, hauling a load of empties to the plant.  Somehow it was all very fitting.

They did some more work on the shower today.  It is starting to come together.  Wife and I went to Good Friday service as well.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Konnichiwa and Ohayo Chuck,

The older two kids’ piano recital went well and the kids did a great job.  They each played a solo piece and then played a duet, which is quite the feat since they tend to aggravate each other most of the time.  We took them out to lunch afterwards and the older boy and I are now getting ready for baseball practice.  Tonight’s big plans will consist of preparing Easter foods.

Laz – After my grandmother died, one of our neighbors (another old Italian lady) used to make some for us every Easter.  After she died, my father would drive to Hazelton to buy it.  I started making it about seven or eight years ago and I have been pleased with the result, but I do refine it every year.  Growing up, it was a huge treat for us because all the special meats and cheeses can be quite pricey.

Mike C. – Great job!  I know how fulfilling completing a run like that can be.

DJ – I’m glad to hear Tyler’s results were clean.

Sayonara,

Joe

Good Morning,  Joe........

It is a sunny 46 degrees. Going up to 70 today with sunshine.

Today is an easy day. They cut our grass, yesterday, for the first time. A lot of tree branches had to be picked up from the winter. End result was pretty good. Relaxing today.

Indians better start getting their hitting better.

Good morning all,

Don't think we are going to do the Easter Bunny thing this year with candy etc.  After all our kids are old men by now and our grandson is 16.  However, I did pick up a pound of See's Candy which I got a voucher for at a fun raiser at church.  See's is one of our finest chocolate sources locally.  I had a few pieces yesterday afternoon and almost made myself sick.  Have to ration that stuff when you're not used to it.

Looks like nice weather for Easter with pleasant temperatures.

Wound up with another load of strawberries yesterday when I bought a large box to save money.  I'll have to make shortcake to get rid of em.

Have a blessed Easter to all,

Ray

Good evening all,

It has been a busy day.   Reffed a game on the big field for the youth soccer club.   A 2-1 game at halftime turned into a 7- blowout, but it could have been much closer with slightly different circumstances.   Rested after that and watched Sunderland score a major upset over Chelsea (at Chelsea!) with a 2-1 win.   Did some errands and then cleaned up for a dinner for the local historical society.  Food was good and the talk was on local architecture given by someone I went to high school with.   We had to leave slightly early so we could get a seat for the Easter Vigil mass, which was over 2 hours long.   Long day today and longer one tomorrow as we go to my sister's place for a holiday gathering for the first time since my dad passed away 3 years ago.   Oh and my daughter called wanting to borrow one of our vehicles while one of theirs is getting tires and breaks.   We may give them car rental money instead.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Happy Easter!

Ohayo Chuck!

The Easter pie I made yesterday came out great and the two loafs I made are just about gone.  I had some last night after it came out of the oven and also had some for breakfast and lunch today.  Today’s church service was nice and our Easter dinner was delicious.  For dinner, I made lamb, roasted cauliflower risotto, and stuffed artichokes.  The wife made a salad.  For dessert, I made tiramisu; it was the first I ever made it and I was extremely pleased with the result.

I hope you all have a great Easter Sunday!

Morning all. Happy Easter All.

Well not to much going on today. Think I will go back to the unit tomorrow to rearrange it some. Got some stuff for free as some one didn't sell it and didn't want to pack it back up worst scenario pack it up take to auction house and get $5 for it. lol I'm getting things in a organization I like little by little. still need to get more items so that's a slow process ( other than trains lol) although I'm getting more and more interest each week.

Wife is getting up to make Easter dinner just a lazy day around here it was like 9 before I got up lol.

Well guess will go down and organize the train table and get the other remote dug out as think I will take one of the tmcc sets to the flea market to use.

Well you all have a good day

Good evening all,

Had a nice day with the family.  Daughter liked idea of renting a car so all worked out well in that respect.   Anyone traveling US 31 north of Indy would be advised to find alternate routes as it was bad coming home.   Weather is finally nice.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Hope everybody had safe travels and a happy Easter. Busy here this weekend. Stripped everything out of the living room down to the floor. Vacuumed, steam cleaned, rolled the oriental rug back out, shampooed it, then re-assemble the room after it dried. Enjoyed some outside time while I mowed the lawn for the first time this year. We traded our 150,000 mile 2004 Grand Caravan in on a 19,000 mile 2014 Grand Caravan, bought a new dehumidifier and some chairs for our deck, so we've done our part to keep the economy going. On the train front, I stopped by the LHS and put 1/2 a dozen items from the new catalogs on order - the biggest being a B unit for my black bonnet F3's. I also struck a deal on the bunch of used stuff that has been in the LHS for several weeks. I have not gotten through all of it yet, but at first pass it, it looks like it spans from late pre-war into the late 60's or early 70's. A glance at the box of track reveals a few pieces of standard gage, lots of O gage, some Super O, some S gage and some really interesting super elevated curve track with thin masonite 'roadbed' riveted to it. Locomotives range from O gage 0-4-0's to baby Hudsons, S gage 0-4-0's to a couple of 4-8-4 American Flyers, and a tinplate streamlined Marx. Rolling stock is nothing very special. The really interesting piece is a long stripe N&W postwar tender. The people who brought the stuff in think that they have the J class that matches the tender. I'll know in a couple of weeks. I really don't want to get into American Flyer stuff right now, so I'll probably learn hoe selling stuff on E-bay works. All for now.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 44 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Nice weekend, but glad it's over.  We hosted family dinner and egg-hunt, which meant Spring spruce-up then clean-up after.  Pooped.  Fifepup drove up to Connecticut to visit his sweetheart, and meet the family.  Middle Princess came home for weekend, and it was great having all the girls together.
