Hello all

Well they are taking out the visiting instrument that we have been using the past few weeks. Of course, that means 4 more people running around the facility and one more coming up tomorrow. Plus a 26' box truck out front. They sure have an interesting way of doing things.

Chief - I'm rather surprised the lawn jockey wasn't painted in gray...

I also noticed in the new Lionel catalog for the  MLB boxcars that there is one in the Roseyville Rascal's favorite:) Hint: starts w/ Y

Found a set of illuminated bolt on bumpers for my test track. The locos keep knocking off the plastic ones. So far I've been lucky not to end up w/ a loco on the floor.

Looks like I may be selling the Williams NW2. May take the proceeds from that and put it toward a ten wheeler.

Morning.  Partly cloudy and rain showers on the way.  Not much today except blood draw.

Finished lawn jockey.  Notice the yellow scarf.

Now to the side entrance to the house.  Now you can ride up and tie up your horse [if it is a Confederate horse].

Have a great week.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' jefelectric.  Very breezy & 68 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Wifey says she wants to go for a ride today; maybe Lancaster Co; maybe Cracker Barrel.  Anyway, last day of our vacation.  'Tis been a good one.

Aloha from a grey and cold Chicago where it is supposed to snow later today. No comment on that. The bride enjoyed the weekend in the city - the weather cooperated with warmth and sun. We went to 'high tea' at a fancy hotel - hadn't done that since Hong Kong. We out for all sorts of meals and of course, she did a little shopping. Today we celebrate the middle boy's birthday and next week's our anniversary. Whew!  Although I've prepped the lawn, there's little sign of spring at home... even the grass is still dead.

I made the mistake of taking the wind-up motor out of the Rail Zepp to see why it wasn't working. Not sure I'll be able to get it back in because the spring went boing! Well, I found what was wrong with it :)

Good morning all,

The yellow scarf on the lawn jockey is a nice touch.  Kidding aside, looks like a nice paint job.

Went to Palm Sunday services yesterday.  Long mass with the passion readings.  Complained to the music director about lectors microphone turned down to low.  Never heard a single hymn announced all day so had to fumble through book to find everything.  A church we visited a while back had a nice feature.  They put all the responses for the congregation on a screen on the wall so you didn't even need a book.

Wife has been having some "senior moments" of late which are becoming worrisome.  She is scheduled to see a specialist in about a week from Wednesday.  Meantime we are carrying on our business with me taking the leading role.  Pray for us.

No plans today but may run trains later.

Have a good day,

Ray

Good evening all,

Work was busy today.  Weather is lousy with some Shohio in the forecast.   Body not too bad after yesterday.  Should have listened to end of Indy car race as Mike Conway won for Ed Carpenter's team (one of the small teams) when Chippy's driver had to make late pit stop.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello all

Finally a relatively normal and quiet night on the mountain. The big group (count 'em 5) got all their equipment down today to the first floor. Tomorrow they load their truck and hit the road.

Spent 6 hours this morning working on stuff that needed some attention. Mechanic is busy w/ the new telescope so it falls to us. Basically means I sleep less. If I don't take care of it, it will become a 'crisis' and then we'll have a bunch of our folks up here who get kinda carried away. So it's kind of work more now to save a lot of headache later.

Chief - so that's what a lawn jockey is for, to tie up your horse. Looks good.

SPRay - hang in there. Hope things go ok.

Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck, I ran out of time again yesterday and was unable to post. Work wasn't too busy, but we had our first official baseball practice last night. The kids did well and I was pleasantly surprised with their overall skills. After practice I had to pack a suitcase as I flew down to Okinawa today. I will be doing some work down here until Thursday. I was on Okinawa once before but it was only for a night and it was 12 years ago. Hopefully I will have time to snap a few photos. I hope you all have a great day. Sayonara, Joe

Morning.  Back from early Dr.'s apt.  Not got pneumonia yet.  Blood ox marginal.  On meds now.

Wifey back from the frozen North.  Says it was starting to snow when she left.  Big T'storms here this AM.  Sunny now but they say more on the way.  Wash this horrible pollen away.

Resting up rest of the day after a meeting at Town Hall with Town Manager and a visit to the store [HH].

Prayers for David, Blown and others.

Where is Big John, Rich and the NJ gang?

Later.

Good morning all,

Went for wife's blood test this morning then breakfast out.  We had pancakes, bacon and eggs but she ate like a bird.  Only 1/2 a pancake and coffee.  I made up for both of us.

Chief, watch out for that pneumonia.  That's bad stuff.  Get better soon.

My friend Larry is going to retire from the dixieland jazz band in July.  He has been with them for 25 years.  Says he's getting tired of playing jobs every holiday.  Don't blame him.  Sounds as bad as working for the railroad except more fun.

Got the new special edition of Big Boy from Trains Magazine.  They did a nice job but I thought they were going to hold off until they actually moved it to Cheyenne.  That's scheduled for April 28th.

Hope Don is coping with the leg problem.

Wife has been doing well for the last two or three days.  Thanks for the prayers.

Saw the moon eclipse last night between 11:00PM and 1:00AM.  Was up late anyway.

later,

Ray

Afternoon fellas and gals;      No dam work or pecking today; too wet i guess.   Hey John; still working on going to York.  Probly gotta whine some more.  Hey Chief;  lovin' that lawn jockey; was a time when they were everywhere.  Kinda fell out of favor.  Got a bunch of beer drinkin' gnomes myself; wifey swears one of 'em is my twin!    Hey Joe;   Well, the worst has happened. My 12 year old grandson has been taking batting instruction from a former Bronx bum hitting coach; which will remain unnamed.  He now leads his age division, which is very competitive, in hits, runs, obp. and rbi's. Of course he gives me the business about it every chance he can.   Where did i go wrong?        later.

Think good thoughts, do good deeds!

Afternoon All,

Still just laying around, coping.  Waiting for insurance approvals/authorizations, then scheduling with the Dr. and Hospital for removal of the external fixator.  Supposedly will only take about an hour for removal, and application of a cast.  I'm looking forward to the cast, Tongue TiedQuestion I think.  The good news is won't have all the extra hardware hanging all over my leg and foot, and will not be banging it on everything, and be able to sleep better, I hope.  The bad news is a cast probably from my toes to about 4" above the knee.  Being told the leg still needs more time to "knit" and the bone to become stronger.  THEN after 3 or 4 weeks advance to a walking cast, and after wearing that for a couple of weeks begin to do weight bearing.  The walking cast will be below the knee, I think.  One thing is for sure, I'm sure getting tired of all this.I still have a positive attitude and feel very fortunate, it could be so much worse.  It won't be long and all this will be a memory.

Haven't been out in the train room much, primarily due to the fact when I designed the layout, I didn't allow enough space for me to get around with a walker. Oops - Sign  The layout still has the Christmas stuff on it.  Think I will be able to get out there more once I'm in a cast.

So that's about all I know, just saw a very interesting show on Nicholas Tesla, wasn't aware of his "earthquake machine".

Think I will go and do some detail painting on some of the kits I'm working on.

So take care and STAY Healthy.

Don

I’m here…..

Rain wind and getting chilly now in Central NJ

Reliant now has a new short block – just need to put the head on and hook up

all the belts and hoses add fluids and test drive.  Easter is going to put a crimp in

my plans, but we’ll see.  Spent the Sunday last doing all that.

Friday night went to my first spa, and had a great time.  Not overly thrilled about the

high school locker ambiance, but the co-ed areas were pretty cool.  Felt better for a

day then felt bad again Saturday night.  Oh, yeah … it was a Korean Spa.  Food was ok,

not the greatest.  Left there at 1:45 am.

Devils season is over, no playoffs this year.  GO YANKEES!!

Good Afternoon! 57 with Rain and High Winds. Going down to 30 tonight.

Sunday my son and I went to a Train Show in Brick, NJ. I walked away with an AF 769A Rotating Beacon in Great Shape. Spent the rest of the time on landscaping the front yard. Hopefully reseed, lime and fertilize the lawn tomorrow. Just getting restless for York.

Bob: Hope you get some sleep.

Fife: Too bad about the show. The small show in Brick was well attended and the prices were ok.

John F: See you at York!

Chief: Nice Lawn Jockey. I could tie my Mustang up to it! lol  At work every so often I would come out to find that somebody would tie a Line Bucket to the pony in the grill so that he would have something to eat!

SPMan: Prayers for your wife.

BOC: Hope the Med visits went well.

Doug M: Happy B-Day to your Son.

Ken: Too bad the logistics are far apart or we would pick you up for York. Ever think of moving to Ocean County? LOL

Don: Good Luck with the leg and all involved.

Rich: Shame about the Devils. Bad year. Need some shooters.

Enjoy the Evening!

John

Don  -- you've been through the mill and hopefully, you are sliding into 3rd base of this healing process.  Getting rid of the external fixator is a most excellent sign, YES.  The cast will be a relief and then the walking cast (actually a protecter cast) will be awesome!

THEN the hard work starts but yet it's a joy, PT is actually an acronym for Physical Terrorism but the old adage of "no pain no gain" is so very true.  Go in with a smile (masking the tears/pain) and trust the PT folks.  Whatever you do --- when they ask you "does that hurt?"  say YES, I made the mistake once of saying no (Mr. Tough Guy) and she made it hurt :(

Soon this will be over and be but a memory that will embellish itself as time goes on.  Just think of the advice you can give the Chief when he slips and falls on a tobacco leaf at his lake chateau Laugh  Your attitude is awesome, hang in there Thumbs Up  Home plate is not far away, you can do it.

Good evening all,

Still snowy and cold in SE Indiana.  Did go for my walk today at noon.   Work was not too bad, but continuous complaining from the co-workers is getting old.  For the most part it is not directed at me, but the constant bickering wears on a body.   So glad to get away from them.  Work goes well on the back bathroom.  Some little glitches but I think we will make good progress from this point on.   At least now I can visualize how things will look.   Not much else going on.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello all

Not exactly a quiet night on the mountain.

Big group left around noon, then the rooms they were using were cleaned by someone using a vacuum cleanerGrumpy, so I finally got a few hours sleep by mid afternoon.

Engineer up to test another receiver which we are trying to get sorted out before the weather goes south on us. Lots of bugs showed up for that one. If they weren't electronic and computer related, Clawde would have had a field day:)

Tired and beat. Will try and sleep again in the morning. Good luck w/ that. Then get up and go home.

Don - you are a trooper. Hang in there.

Dennis - hope they can deal w/ that dog. W/ multiple incidents like that it's too late for temporizing.

Chief - hope you lick that 'bug'. I think Clawde does right before he eats them...Stick out tongue
