Good evening all,

Hope you are all having a good Christmas week.  Been sitting around th house most of the day.  #2 son took the grandson to a movie earlier.  #1 son has the whole week off part of his vacation.

V8 Dennis, glad you made it tto Oregon.  Flying is good sometimes when it works.  Sure a lot faster.

Frank, et all, haven't been keeping up with the Duck Dynasty thing.  I have never seen the show but guess it is popular with a lot of people.  On the surface, they look like bikers to me but no offense intended to bikers.

I finally bit the bullet and decided to finance my sister in Florida's dental work.  I'm sure she will like that better than a Christmas present.

Saw a widower friend of ours at a Christmas party last night.  He has been doing volunteer work at the homeless shelter that our church runs every winter.  The churches in the area take turns  housing overnight and feeding these people during the cold months.  Each church gets them for about two weeks.  We also get donations from the congregation to give them clean new underwear and used clothes if needed.  My friend says the work has given him something to help cope with his first Christmas since his wife passed away earlier this year.  The people that use the shelter have to sign up for it and go through some minimal screening.  Then they get an I.D. card which entitles them to use the shelter.  They get bused to our place at night and then back to town during the day.  We provide them with a sack lunch for the day and give them dinner at night and breakfast in the morning.  We had 135 people last night.

Getting ready to eat out tonight.  Too tired to cook.

later,

Ray

Ray -- your church is truly reaching out to the less fortunate, very nice indeed.  Duck Dynasty -- I tried watching it once, struggled to make it ten minutes.  Your sister is blessed to have you as a brother.

Merry Christmas!

Good evening all,

Part of the benefits with being on the pot is sharing not only the bad times, but also the good times as well. Today was one of the later.   USPS delivered a long awaited item for my collection today.  It was a fortuitous set of circumstances that allowed me to acquire thru eBAY a standard gauge piece of rolling stock that has eluded me for quite a while.   I won a week or so ago an IVES 1772 gondola in C-6 condition.  These are rare, and seldom show up anywhere.  Maybe they are common at York, but I have never been there and probably never will.   I paid way too much for it, but that does not matter to me.  If CTT is interested, I plan to do an article on it and the other numbers/manufacturers that used the same body style.  A quick history is that it is the same as a Lionel 512, a Lionel Classics 1512, and a MTH 512 as well.  I am very happy and very relieved to have it here.

In other news, helped wife cook by running errands for her.  We watched a video of "A Tuna Christmas" performed by the local theater group over 15 years ago (family tradition) as well.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Glad to hear the good news Mike.  If you would only love to love an American sport.  Whistling  Merry Christmas to you and the Sausy Winch.

On reality shows.  Don't watch them.  They are basically "made up".  The Lizard Lick Towing is a trashy un-truth.  Now such town.  A cross roads with no official DOT sign.  Wife watches the Real House Wives of Orange Co and NJ.  Why would people hang out with each other and fuss and fight all the time.  Did watch a few Honey Boo Boo shows and that was stupid too.  Never watched one show of Duck Dynasty but it was the fact the guy was not able to express his religious beliefs.

READY for Christmas.

Off to bed.  Reclinerized too long.  Then did some final Christmas wrapping as Wifey is asleep.

Sleep tight.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill...........

Good Morning,  Joe in Japan..........

It is a cold 17 degrees. Going up to 29 today with snow flurries.

Today is an easy day. We plan on relaxing and eating well. Bought a couple of big lobster tails, which are not cheap, and some crab legs. Looks like a good start for the Holidays.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Good Morning Guys and Merry Christmas!!

Angel for those in need

Been a little busy this weekend, selling trees, a quick trip to New York City, baked some cookies.

Bad news is yesterday we lost a civilian to an apartment fire and then lost one of our own during another fire call during the day.  This will be classified as a LODD, my "partner in crime" for Christmas tree sales passed away while standing by at the firehouse.  Davey was a Fire Police LT., and sold most of the trees.  We decided that he will be credited with all 234 trees sold.  The guys put a Christmas tree on the corner where he used to direct traffic.  Gone too soon at 51.  He was a good friend.  This will be our 2nd LODD and I was here for both.

I'm not sure when I'll be back as tonight is a traditional Christmas Eve get together after church. Tomorrow I cook dinner, then work the weekend.

Until then, hold your loved ones close, to all youse guys, my extended train family,

 Merry Christmas!!

Rich

Merry Christmas Eve,

Today was a fantastic day.  I made homemade gnocchi to go with the shrimp scampi and baked whitefish I made for dinner.  I made extra to have for dinner tomorrow as well.  We just returned from a Christmas Eve vigil church service which was nice.  The kids are in bed now so we will bring out the Santa gifts soon; one of them is a bike for the youngest that I have to build.

Chuck – You beat me to the good morning today.

Mike C. – Congratulations on the eBay score.  I hope to see it in CTT soon.

Colin and RI Jack – It’s nice to see you guys again.

Sayonara,
Joe

Morning.  Sunny and chilly.  Busy hectic day.  Get ready to go run the morning errands [stuffed fresh sausage for tomorrow's breakfast and then Smithfield Chicken and Barbeque for today's lunch.  May get a batch of fried gizzards for Frankie and myself].  All done and back by noon.

Rich, sorry for your loss.

Since it is Christmas eve, Merry Christmas to all.

Later.

Good afternoon all,

Rich, sorry to hear of your loss so close to the holidays.  Cleaned the house today and went to see the second part of the Hobbitt.  Kind of boring.  Going to Mass tonight and then rest up for tomorrow.   Got a brief email from my Norwegian soccer friend, which always makes my day.  I hope everyone has a good day.  Merry Christmas to one and all.

Merry Christmas and Ohayo Chuck,

I hope everyone is waking up to a fantastic Christmas morning.  We had a great day here.  I received some super presents including a Lionel US Air Force Flatcar (6-39394) which was made in the USA.  It’s a nicely done item and I would have had the other two USAF freight cars if they weren’t on backorder.  For dinner, I made duck with two sauces (raspberry and cherry) and some more homemade gnocchi with two sauces (brown-butter sage and spicy Italian sausage ragu).  The family was extremely pleased with dinner.  Earlier today we watched The Nativity Story, It’s A Wonderful Life, and are now watching Arthur’s Christmas

Merry Christmas guys!!

Thanks for the prayers and support, Davey will be missed.  There is a tree that was put up on the corner where Davey stood watch, lighted and angel on top.  The citizens have decorated it. Facebook is abuzz about the whole incident.

Cooking dinner now, just got back from a false alarm at a hotel near by.

Thanks for being family....have a Blessed Christmas!!!

Dear Buckeye,

Before checking with the Chief about your behavior, I thought this year I would surprise you with a slightly used Lionel flat car with only one wheel missing, but then I checked.  Sorry, but the Chief's evaluation of the situation was worse than previous years, so I had to follow the rules and reduce you from three lumps to two.

MERRY CHRISTMAS
