Brent -- I'm way behind on reading posts but I'm curious as to what camera you are purchasing to replace the Canon? We recently raised the bar with a new DSLR for the boss, lots of research (by me) and she is just delighted beyond belief.
The newest DSLR's are amazing ....... just from six years ago with my Nikon D70s to today is phenomenal. I'd like to upgrade myself, however ........... I'd rather plan another fabulous trip and keep shooting with the present camera
I think back to the late 60's when I was in college and worked nights at the post office to buy my Pentax Spotmatic and how delighted I was to own that gem of a camera. We now have cameras that are the best ever, wonderful. Even my little Leica point and shoot (emergency camera) is awesome.
I still have that Pentax Spotmatic w/lenses ------ have not put any film in that camera for ten years but yet I can't part with it.

So many roads, so little time.
Dennis - OUCH!!!! That sucks! Glad you are OK!Jon - I am going from a Canon Rebel EOSxt to a Canon Rebel EOS T3i. Going from an 8MP camera to an 18MP camera. I went with the Canon because I already have the EFS IS lenses and they work with this camera body. I can also shoot 1080P HD video with it and it has a flip and tilt screen that my old one did not have. I am hoping to get about $150 for the old camera, two lenses, 3 batteries, charger, and 3 Compact flash cards. If I can't get $150 then I will keep this as a spare.

Sounds good Brent, you won't regret your decision. Remember, it's ALWAYS good to have a back up camera that you are comfortable with, well worth having in your back pocket.
Good Evening!
Dennis, Glad you are OK !!!!!!
Chief posted some pictures, and I added commentary, but more importantly John Fullerton sent me an announcement about UP and the 4014! Hurray!!!
The weather was much more comfortable today, ended up working both engines at work. (One guy called in sick). The park is beginning to get set up for Halloween Haunt, the biggest event of the year! Elvira is going to be their special attraction for this year. So they are going all out. Haunt runs from Sept 21 thru Oct 31. During that time we don't run any night operations with the steam engine. In the past too much vandalism occurred. The small engine goes down August 12 thru Thanksgiving. The reason for the longer time is that a maze is built in the area of the track preventing operation. And the whole park is redecorated for older kids. Camp Snoopy is effectively closed. So that is when a lot of maintenance is done and track work. Me.... looking forward to some time off, hopefully only work 3 or 4 days a week.

Hey guys - some rain here today but that will cool us off for a few days. Just watched Bullet in the Head with Stallone, very good movie. 6 hours of OT tomorrow and my daughter should be back home tomorrow night, so that's cool.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Konnichiwa,
Somehow I managed to sleep in until 0800 this morning and it was great. Unfortunately, I was out the door at 0845 to assist a family from church with a move. I spent nearly six hours moving furniture and household items; I am awfully tired so the lawn will have to wait until Monday evening. I will spend the rest of the day reading the rest of the latest CTT and doing a crossword puzzle.
Brent – About two weeks ago, our 3-year-old somehow called the wife’s mom and we had no idea. I think he somehow hit the redial or most recently dialed number function to make it happen. The best part of this story is that due to our time difference, it was 0300 their time.
V8 – I’m glad you weren’t hurt.
Sayonara,
Joe
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 60 degrees. Going up to 74 today with some rain.
Today is an easy day. I may have to run an errand. I hope not. Chores to do and then I can read more of the latest CTT mag. Lunch and a nap will be great.
Dining car has rolled in with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Chuck
Good MorningSeems to be cooler for today but with those ol' t'underin'boomers ever present..in fact, one just came through not too long ago. Well, considering that I already am doing a show tonight we will be down at Hawk Rocks The Park ( a local rock festival for charity) it looks to be something of a longish kind of day for us'uns ....no traintime today by the looks of things... Have a good day!!!

Afternoon all. Busy. Getting ready to spray paint Pam's big arch or pergola over the front walkway. Brought my professional airless sprayer home from lake house. Store it there so neighbor who borrowed it and didn't clean it can't borrow it again.
Hot and humid.
Later.

Hi all,
V8 Dennis, glad you were not hurt. I know 80 may sound too fast in some places but out here on the fwy if you are in the fast lane and not doing 80 you will probably get run over. However, you're just unlucky to hit that wet spot when it was not raining everywhere.
Don, have to see if I can find those pictures from the Chief. Glad you are going to get a rest at the farm soon. Exciting news about the UP4014 in Pomona. (Big Boy). The U.P. bought the engine from the Railway Historical Society out there at the Pomona Fairground and will be moving it to Cheyenne to restore it for their 150th anniversary I presume. I heard they will have to lay track from the Metrolink Line over to where the engine is stored now and will have to put in a switch to get back on Metrolink.. Then they will tow it to West Colton via the U.P. line that goes through Baldwin Park. There they will do some bearing work before it can be towed back to Cheyenne. All of this will happen after the County Fair in September.

Ran trains for a while this morning but too muggy (humid) so I gave up and vacated the garage about 11:00AM.

Paint spraying done. Sprayer cleaned and put up. Big job as so many surfaces to spray. Now to get the spray off of me.
Ohayō,
This is a rare morning post for me. It’s going to be terribly hot and humid today, and the sun is brightly shining. We will leave for Sunday school and church shortly. This afternoon’s agenda will consist of relaxation and hanging out with the kids; perhaps even a nap on the couch. I think some UFC fights are coming on soon so I will have to record those while we’re at church.
I hope you all have a great Saturday night.
Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI after a morning rain. Daughters played well in alumni game. We were tied 1-1 at half time, but got tired out in the second half and lost 6-1, which was far better than last year. Went to 40th high school reunion as well. It was nice, but too many old people there. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning from Blueberryhill.............
It is a cool and sunny 68 degrees. Going up to 78 today.
Today is an easy day. After a few chores, I will spend a few hours in the train room. I need to run trains and relax. Then, lunch and a nap. Nascar race this afternoon and a ballgame.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Good MorningNice and sunny out there..currently we are sitting at 63 going for a high of....68... We rocked the house last night...two encores even...loved it. It was a wonderful night for us'uns.... Today will be a day of rest, of course, with the usual stuff to do...again... Ah well...have a good day!!
The temp is 60 with sun.
I wonder how I can say this site has become a yawn without getting in trouble. Hmm I'm not sure if I can. No plans for today but a nice chat last night till bedtime with some of the guys.
Mornin' boys. Off and on today in the Mid-Atlantic region. Last day of vacation. Gonna take it easy, and watch the BRICKYARD race. Actually, need to recuperate from grandson being here since Friday. Brent, don't know how you do it at our age...
As for the Mid-Atlantic "MEET", how does August 10th sound? And it will be a grits-free afternoon.
The Greenberg show is at Timonium next weekend (3,4).
Hey guys, its been a long while since I've posted, much on any of the Forums, been busy I guess. I got up this morning and started Sunday Photo Fun with a couple of photos that I took the other day. It's mid -day and no one but Ray (AF53) has posted. Folks may just be to busy to take the time. I was hoping maybe some of you guys if you have a few moments would help out the thread by posting a picture or two. As I remarked to Ray, the thread is getting a little lonely and needs some photos. Thank you and have a great day! Bo
Afternoon Dudes & Dudettes.
Beginning to feel halfway alive now, still trying to recover from friday's run and saturday's Kid's Club run. In bed at 9pm last nite, can't remember being out that early like in forever.
Bo, Great to see you drop-in, come by more often.
Dennis, You were lucky, coming home from the museum last nite there was a really bad accident on I-15. About a half dozen or more cars and a motorcycle, unfortunately the rider was still laying in the road with a cover on him. Haven't heard what the cause was but the motorcyclist paid a heck of a price. When we moved here in the early seventies it only took one ride, after riding for years in Tx, to say No More.
Got some chores to cath-up on.
Later all.

V8.......I am glad you weren't hurt. It sounds like the demise of your Fiero GT. Lucky thing you have the DelSol to keep you occupied. I was going to comment on your self depricating "extremely stupid" observation with some stories of my own but couldn't decide which of my shenanigans was "stupider!!" There was the time I topped 140 in my Corvette. The next day I went in for an oil change. After the mechanic ran the car up on the rack he called me over. Seems the inner sidewalls on both front tires were cracked!!! Firestones. Never bought that brand of tire again. :-) JACK
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Hello all,
back from a week at the beach.
Haven't even skimmed the Pot. Try to catch up this week
Fife....... I waved to all the Sail Boats while crossing the Bay Bridge. Didn't see you waving back.
Overall it was very relaxing. Couple o' days the car didn't turn a wheel. Mrs was coughing her head off all week. Finally on Thursday we found a walk in clinic. She's got a good (bad) case of bronchitis. Today it seems like the Z pack and Coricedin HBP is starting to work.
Never made it to Toy Town in Berlin. I was there during the June trip. Got to admit I wasn't impressed. At least 90% of the HO stuff (and most of the Toys I may be interested in) was there last year.
On a down note it seems like my Canon sx130 gave up the ghost. It won't turn on. Jimmy T or Jack. Is it worth trying to get it fixed?
Best get to bed. Back t' the SS fund tomorrow
Prayers for those in need

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s. Celebrated 3 birthdays today with family. Good day. US defeated Panama in CONCACAF Cup 1-0 for Gold Medal. I hope everyone has a good day.
Today I finally installed the exhaust fan for the bathroom. What an ordeal - apparently the people who made the instructions don't see a fine distinction between "to" and "through". Oh well, it's done!
Good night all. Restful day. MIL in hospital. Breathing problems but that has been going on for years. Too many cigarettes and still does. Told Dr. she had quit. He said, "You quit yesterday when you were admitted."
Tstorms in the area.

Not us. Western NC. Haven't had a drop all day. Been sunny most of the day. A line is approaching from the west but moving fast so no flooding expected here.
Early coffee with a rep from Wake Medical Hospital.
Sleep tight.
It is a cool and sunny 60 degrees. Going up to 78 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I have a few errands to run and the usual chores around the house. By then, it will be lunchtime. Then, a nice nap.
Y'all have a great Monday.
Early morning for a retired person. Off to coffee with hospital rep. Then Verizon as they are now the contractor for the Town. Check on switching phones to contract.

We did our phone contract switching for my company last week...all numbers ported with no new numbers...pretty painless.
