Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  Good night for soccer (any night is a good night for soccer, but this was really nice, weather wise).  We won 2-1 despite my atrocious play.   Work went well for once.  Been running my HO (can I say that word) CB&Q train.  I have some old Plasticville I may use with it to have a nice small layout.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Evening !

I did one better than Jack, last night I did a post, I thought it was pretty good, spent 2 hours preparing it then fell asleep with the computer in my lap.  Woke up at 2:30, closed the cover and lost it!  Didn't hit the post button! Devil

Interesting news around here again.  Forrest Lawn is a large cemetery about 3 miles from here.  A young mother and her 2 yr old daughter were visiting a grave site, and a Coyote grabbed the girl by the back and started to drag her off to the bushes. Thankfully the mother was able to scare the Coyote forcing it to release the girl.  She is in a local hospital undergoing rabies treatment.  Animal services came out and were able to kill 3 Coyotes in or around the cemetery. Of course they are native to the area, but still manage to find places to live.  The cemetery adjoins the same "concrete river channel" as I do.  I haven't seen a Coyote in a couple of years, however will see a Red Tail Fox, Hawks, Possum and wide selection of other birds. Sure fortunate the child will be OK, eventually.

Had yesterday and today off work.  Yesterday built an enclosure for the a/c unit in the inlaws backyard.  Then went to see the Lone Ranger movie with Kay.  That was really and entertaining movie!!  Especially, if you enjoy westerns, trains, and satire.  The audience were actually laughing out loud!  I hope it ends up winning some kind of award.  (I am trying to hurry up and do this before I fall asleep, so don't have things organized in the correct priority or sequence.)

Chris rented a Chevy Spark on Sunday, and drove from Kalamazoo MI, to Rockford Ill, to visit my last living Aunt.  The car didn't cost much and included unlimited mileage, it ONLY had an 8 gallon tank!  Apparently, he was getting around 40mpg.  The good news he made it there and back.  If he would have run into a good sized butterfly I think he and the car may have been done in.  But, they had time for a meal, some visiting.  She ended up sending him back with 5 Bibles, which had been family Bibles for various relatives, a bunch of pictures, and great memories.  He had asked me for the address of the house I use to live in, and went by there.  Saw a guy working in the yard and stopped and talked with him.  Shared history that he was aware of..

Chief, That is really remarkable what you were able to accomplish with the High School!!  You've done us proud!  (Got that package off today with all the stuff you forgot.  Tried to sell it, but couldn't give it away.  And, the neighbors were beginning to complain.

Mike C,  I have gone to a Formula I race at Fontana.  Had great seats in the infield just over pit road, in one of the suites.  But, it wasn't Indy!!  Still a dream.

SJ, Dont worry about the BLT's, I couldn't stand in the way of a man and a  BLT!  Just envious!  Enjoy! But not too much.

Ray, Make sure you pass on to Larry how great it is he won that trip.  Wow, what I wouldn't give to do that!  BTW, when Frank and I went out to Fairplex and saw Bigboy 4014, they told me the plan was to move it in October.  They are going to put down some temporary track to connect it up to Metrolink's Line, then tow it out to Colton, and redo the bearings.  Then tow it to Cheyenne for rebuild.  Expected completion in 2019, budget $6M.  I guess they are still negotiating what they will put in Fairplex in pace of it.

Dennis,  Glad your car didn't get damaged anymore than it did.

Jack,  Notice a series of short posts, you are not trying to outfox the system are you.  Or do you have that many interruptions going on.  So far I've almost lost this one 3 times already.

Doug M,  Sure sounds like you guys had a great trip. More great memories, thank God we have them!

I think I better quit while I'm ahead.  Gotta be up early.

So hope you all stay well, and prayers for those in need!

Nice day here today.  About 80 with low humidity.  The rain passed south of us last night, so I had to water the herbs and veggies tonight.  Probably will have to mow the lawn tomorrow night, too.

I reached a deal on the used postwar stuff that came into the LHS recently.  Got a ZW, a KW, 2 #364 log loaders and a 3656 stock yard for a reasonable price.  All of it is pretty dirty and will need work.  I opened up the ZW tonight and discovered that it is reasonably clean on the inside.  The biggest problems appear to be the dirty case and a missing power cord.  The primary winding does not show continuity with anything on the secondary side, and the insulation on the variable secondary winding checks out OK.  This being my first ZW, I've got to ask where the power cord exits the case - there is a hole in the bottom case near the A, B, C, D, and U terminals.  I assume this is where the cord should exit.  Should there be a grommet there, or just a UL knot in the cord for strain relief?

All for now.

It's late here.  Haven't looked at  the pot all day.  Got some sad news this morning that our friend from church passed away.  We saw her last Sunday and she was already in a coma then.  Funeral is this coming Monday.  Will try to give support to her husband.  She suffered for a long time.  Her passing is a blessing to her and her family.  She's in a better place now.

Chief, congratulations on the new high school.  Will try to look at your link tomorrow.

Good night all,

Ray

Konbanwa,

It was another day of clouds and rain today, which meant another day of using the car to get to and from work versus the bicycle.  I believe the outlook for this weekend is better.  I worked a little later than usual but still came home a reasonable time.  The kids and I ate roasted chicken and vegetables for dinner.  The wife is going out for dinner with some friends.  The kids and I will catch up on some reading and Mr. Bean cartoon episodes for the remainder of the evening.

SP Ray – I’m sorry for the loss of your friend.  I’ll pray for comfort for her husband and family.

Sayonara,

Joe

Good morning everyone. Getting ready to head in. Have a late start today, so going a little later than normal.

Joe, I may go with the digital version. A number of folks talk about the same issues. I do miss the news.

Ray, good to be back, enjoying the civility.  The little ones do keep us going.  We are in the throws of potty training...hope it is finished soon.

sounds like the left coast is returning to their version of normal, post Chief visit.  Regarding the town of Rosyville, nice place and, having visited, it seems there is mutual respect between the Mayor and the PD. I guess that helps when making such videos as the DUI.

hope each of you has a blessed day,

dennis

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cool 68 degrees. Sunny. Going up to 76 today with sunshine.

Today is a busy day. Wife is grocery shopping. I have a bunch of chores to do and the usual things. Will be busy until lunch. Then, a nice nap.

I saw an interesting thing on the Weather channel this morning.... It seems that a swarm of bees attacked a jet airliner at Charlotte, NC airport, and then an escalator caught fire, and finally, a coyote was walking the runway. Only could have happened in NC.

Dining car has arrived with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

8n,

Here you go.Smile

ZW Cord Replacement:

1) Remove four screws holding upper case.

2) Remove the two brass straps from the tops of the coil brackets.

3) Place ZW terminal side down and remove the four 5/16" bolts holding the base and coil brackets to the lower case.

4) Remove the coil bracket that is facing up to gain access to the solder points for the cord.

5) Pass the new cord through the hole in the lower case (no grommet), and tie a knot about 7" from the end.

The morning temp is 65, today will be sunny and 77.

Off we went yesterday with cousin and wife to ride a narrow gauge steam train. Never got there. We stopped at Chrysler's world HQ to see the car museum and it is no longer open to the public. No fair really cause it's a nice museum. Anyway, we took another side trip so the wives could shop one of those very large all year Christmas stores. That's as far as we got. By the time we left there it was mid afternoon. Sooo we headed back, ate at Logan's and came home.

Morning.  Early Human Services Board meeting.  Cloudy.  Everyone got rain but Roseyville.  Only a sprinkle.  Severe Tstorm warning yesterday afternoon for Roseyville.  Never a drop fell.  No joke.  Very slow moving just south of us.  Rained itself out right where it started.

Off to the lake house to mow.  Back tomorrow.

Thanks gang for the congrats.  Folks talking about it today.  One former Raleigh City Council member and now County Commissioner told me how mad Former Mayor of Raleigh, Charles Meeker, got when he heard I had one the vote to take the school away from him.

Dennis, right.  West coast is returning to their state of normal which is not normal. Whistling

Buckeye - LOL LaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaugh

Well the 8yo laptop has been upgraded from XP to Win7, all 120+ updates downloaded and installed. It is running like it is brand new! Downloaded the LCS software from Lionel, connected a USB to Serial Adapter (Win7 installed drivers, then 5 minutes later downloaded and installed updated drivers), downloaded the LCS 1.52 updates from Lionel, updated the CAB-2 and Base. Ran a few tests and everything is running smoothly! Put the CSX 608 AC6000 and CSX B&O Celebration 6607 AC6000 on the tracks, programmed them up, played around hauling a 20 car coal train around the layout with the Chessie GP30s hauling their customary 15+ PS1 Boxcar consist as well. NO PILE UPS! Dug out the C&O S2, loaded her into the system and played around with her for a bit. I must say this is one nice switcher! Runs and insanely slow speeds, and has custom 'Yard Talk' between the engine and the tower - neat!

The 200ft of 16g Red and 200ft of 16g Black wire arrived today as well. Now waiting for the TVSes and toggle switches to arrive, then I'll start building the control panel. Bought a piece of .220 thick clear plexiglass today at Lowes, after I test out the rotary switch and toggle switch concept I'll work on laying out the track plan on the plexiglass, then start drilling mounting holes. REALLY want to have to two lower level mainlines and upper level mainline powered by Christina's birthday.

It appears someone is VERY excited about her Birthday next Thursday. We have been informed that she wants 'presents - but not many, pizza, and ice cream' so the game plan is to take her and Matthew to a park so she can climb around like a monkey, slide on some slides, and just have lots of fun. We'll then come home for her to take a nap, then it is off to pizza and ice cream for dinner. When we get home we will have cake and she can open her presents from Mommy, Daddy, and Matthew. She is really looking forward to my parents and older sister coming next weekend for the family birthday party... OH - she is now singing "Happy Birthday to ME" LOL!

Partly cloudy here today.  Rained just a little bit - just as I was hauling the lawn mower out -making the grass too wet to mow.

Jim - thanks for the ZW cord replacement tips.

I got the KW opened up tonight.  Was like the ZW - really dirty outside, but not too bad inside.  It needs a new power cord as well, and I noticed that long arm seems to be bent, as the roller is not square to the windings.

All for now.

Konnichiwa,

I had a quick 4-mile run this morning, and I sweated profusely due the high humidity.  I was pretty exhausted and not able to do my usual amount of pushups.  The workday flew by and I actually started my weekend early as I was able to wrap up everything by 1500.  The sun is just starting to shine through the clouds now and I might mow the lawn tonight as it is supposed to rain tomorrow.  I’m also going to join some other men from the church tomorrow to help one of our members move to another house.  The wife is making risotto tonight and I cannot wait to eat it.

Buckeye – That was a good one. Laugh

Brent – I believe you will enjoy that birthday party as much as she will. Pizza Dinner

Mornin' Fellas

Up late last night. Sad Got an email from a photography supply place which has resulted in me deciding to sell my Canon Rebel EOSxt (this is the camera that I have been using to take the CTT gang mugshot picture at York since 2007/8), non-image stabilizing lenses (18-55, 75-350), 3 batteries, charger, manual, 16GB Compact Flash Card, 1GB Compact Flash Card, and 521MB Compact Flash Card, and a shutter release remote (needs battery I think). If anyone is interested email me. I may also sell my HD camcorder if the new camera does as good as the online reviews for it say.

Demay - you are darned tooten I'll be enjoying this birthday! Thumbs Up

We learned last night that Christina knows how to dial a phone... SurpriseHmmConfusedIndifferentTongue Tied going to need more My 2 Cents soon! Sad

Good afternoon all,

Cloudy, humid day but not as hot as usual.   Have a small problem with my recently painted 96 Honda.  They painted over the little things on the hood where water comes out of the windshield washer.  I poked a pin in the holes to unclog it but the first time I tried it, it was still clogged and the backpressure blew the hose off underneath and all the washer fluid went on the ground.  The end of the rubber tubing from the washer split and was not long enough to make a new joint.  I stretched the hose a little and connected it again and it seems to be staying now.  Cleaned out the holes again and this time it seemed to work.  There are two tiny holes in each spray head but looks like only one in each is working good.  Probably just needs some new tubing and possibly the new spray heads on top of the hood.  Bet the dealer wants too much for those but will give them a call.

Ran trains quite a while today account not too hot.  Had several derailments account asleep at the switch and one runaway engine that had power to a normaly off track.  It hit another parked engine and knocked its tender off the track after derailing itself.  Also had one rear end collision but no damage.  Overloaded transformer with too many trains at one time and the transformer shut itself down.  I'm getting too many trains and not enough room to park them on the layout.  Constantly juggling everything.  Hate to start putting things back in boxes but might have to.

Hey Buckeye!  Lighten up on the Chief.

later,

Ray

Good evening all,
