Hey, Any of you guys have Lionel Cruse control 6-ELRR1 in  a mid 90s duel engine Dash 8 40C??? How hard is it to install in one and post war engines?? Does it work with conventional operation?

E-Bay Briggs and Stratton FH sales have slowed down. Just listed 4 more items to end in 5 days. Maybe I will get Lucky.

Prayers for Fife's little princes.  Angel

Well I made a lot of progress on the layout cleanup, finally. I found the missing pliers and the missing loco. I know an F7 is a bit big to lose but with that pile of stuff anything was possible. I also found a roll of electrical tape, two tubes of JB Weld, a 6-in-1 screwdriver, two Bachmann track cleaning pads, a Boley truck and a Bachmann decoder. And that was just on the layout extension. I put away enough stuff to fill four shoe boxes. Next I have to concentrate on the east end of the layout where the pieces of my unfinished grain elevator project are.

I never did get outside today though I did look out the window several times. It was a very bright sunny day from what I could see and it looks like we'll have that big bright yellow orb overhead the next couple of days.

That's all for today so I'll pack it in now and call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Sunny and in the 40's today.  Supposed to be on a warming trend for the next few days.

I'm finally making some progress at getting the Amtrack silver and black paint off of the Alco B unit shell.  That stuff is tough!  The shell has been soaking in Simple Green since before Christmas.  The silver paint finally succomed to warm water and a stiff scrub brush.  The black paint on the roof laugned at the Simple Green and then at Liquid Plumber.  However, after the extended soak in Simple Green, Easy Off oven cleaner is convincing the paint to come off with the help of warm water and the scrub brush.

About all for now.

Prayers are out for Alexis!

Nice chat with the guys tonight.  Weather is warmer, but we have a way to go that's for sure.  Won a Lionel windup rail Zep on ebay.  Also got an elgato HD PVR that hooks up to hdmi and outputs video to a computer.  This should be a fun toy Smile  TARDIS is ready - let's fly!

Evenin' All.

Prayers continue for the Littlest Princess. Angel

Spent the forst half of the day at our CHF Support group. The BetterHalf's Low Salt Salsa recipe was a roaring success, especially when we broke out individual full containers for everyone to take home with No Salt tortilla chips.

Did somemore yardwork this afternoon but I think I overdid it. Gave some consideration to calling the meat wagon but a couple of pills & a bit of rest felt better.

Gonna call it a nite early.

Nite all.

Konbanwa,

I don’t have much to report for today.  Maybe I’ll post again before I go to bed.

Ryan – Shenandoah, PA.  It’s near Pottsville and Hazelton.  The last time I was home I drove up to Grzyboski’s, which took me about 90 minutes.  I’m hoping to find a show or meet closer to home this time.

Laz – That song was great.  I’m sure every coal cracker can relate to it.

Doug – The link worked this time; that’s a neat site.

John – Congratulations to your son for his award.

Kev – I hope your item sells.

I’m still praying for Alexis.

Sayonara,

Joe

Good Mornin Y'all From Crystal Clear Cape Ann Taxachusetts,

I woke up this morning thinking about the same thing that was on my mind last night when I turned in.....I hope that FIFE's little Princess Alexis came through yesterday's procedure in fine fashion and that all is well this morning. Angel

The 50+ degree temps today should finish off what I did not shovel off the deck and deck stairs last weekend.  The drifting was pretty bad back there.  Procrastination works!  Maybe I'll see some grass and some daffodils poking through the dirt later on.  I located my gasoline stabilizer, so I am ready for running that through the fuel system and shutting down the snowblower for the season in a couple of more weeks, just to be on the safe side.

BOC.......hope you are feeling OK.  Chief, same for you and your sniffles.  DougM and KEV......weather channel just reported that Chicago proper has "stormed back" and is just a couple of inches shy of a normal Winter snowfall at this point (32" total) but I suspect the annual average of 42" won't be reached.  Speaking of birds, KEV, the Canadian geese who chose to migrate South for the Winter have started to arrive on their annual sojourn back North, soon to be followed by the ducks.  The rest of the locals are chirping up a storm which distracts Maximus from his morning constitution. Whistling  Jeffrey......hope you got enough cleared up from the layout to run some trains.

Later, gang.

Good morning. It's 46° with 65% humidity. The high will be 65°.

As I look outside this morning I see lots of sunshine. The weather guesser says it'll be around until the weekend.

My plan for today is to clear some of the stuff out of the closet. I have a bunch of model railroad stuff in there. Most of it is old freight cars that are still of some use and some loco parts and frames but a lot of it is junk that nobody can use. Old cracked or detail stripped E and F unit shells, 60-70's era diesel bits and pieces, etc. A lot of it is just taking up space. So if I have time today out it goes. There's also a bunch of stuff under the layout that has to go. Old boxes mostly.

Jack, Chicago and points north have done well with snowfall but,, points south not so good. My bet would be we have yet to get 16" all year and half of that was in the last snowfall. As for the Marseilles area we are still very short on moisture. Sad

Aloha. Cold and winter-y - but there's a golden orb in the sky. I'm happy for the snow moisture, Jack. Wish I could send the sun on to BoC-land. Still praying for Alexis' recovery. Caught up on SixNations rugby last night, then part of a new Top Gear before falling asleep. I think I've finally recovered from my Chrono-Time-Sleep-Displacement that happened because of Springing-Forward. I'm with Pat, I dont get why we do it.   Brutus, what's a PVR? Some sort of new technology?Wink. I have a soft spot in my heart for the Rock Island, Jeffrey - that was the livery of my first engine when I re-entered the hobby - a RI GP9.  Dennis, depending on the age of the computer, there are some things you can do yourself, if you are comfortable with it, like running the disk defragger. Else, you may try the Geek Squad at your local Best Buy. They're pricey but they do decent basic work. And make house calls... Hope to catch the TARDIS tonight...

Morning all prayers still going out for Alexis.

Took car in to get onstar converted from analog to digital so I could use it but now theres a cable that will cost me $253 thats needed but I'm in a pickle If I don't do it I still have to pay onstar for the unit which is $199. The good news they got the cable reduced down to $193 so still going to cost me $400 Bang Head

Not much else going on. They got the vents in yesterday what an improvement. Like night and day and no more lifting the A/C anymore in the warmer months. BowYes

On a more serious note, a friend with whom we train (dogs) was out on a hike in the New Hampshire woods and fields with his dog, a German Pinscher.

They came across two guys coming towards them on the trail, with one carrying a rifle.  At a distance head on, the dog began to growl (off leash) and continued to do so while they passed, then kept looking back after the two had passed.  About 15 minutes later there was a helicopter flying overhead and the woods quickly filled up with police and state troopers.  As it turned out, the two guys robbed the next person coming down the trail and were quickly apprehended.  By the way, our friend is licensed to carry (concealed), is a shooting instructor, and was packing.

Reminds me of some movie where a guy is being robbed and is in the process of turning over his valuables and saying to the bad guys,   "Here's my watch and my wallet, and, oh yes, my .45!!!!!"  Predictable aftermath, he gave the bad guys the bullets too.  Whistling

My wife and I often wonder what our dog Maximus would do in such a real life situation.  In the Doberman Pinscher Club of America's Working Aptitude Evaluation, which Maximus passed with flying colors, on a loose leash and without commands (not permitted) he properly differentiated between passive strangers, friendly strangers, and a bad guy.

He alerted at 50 yards on the approaching bad guy, sensing immediately something was not right with the guy and keeping a keen eye on him.  He got lit up when the bad guy got closer and his (bad) intentions became more obvious.  Maximus is a very social dog, but we humanoids are clueless when it comes to the acuteness and sheer accuracy of a dog's senses.  They can sense uneasiness, fear, or ill-intent.  A well trained dog will defer all decisions to the handler/owner.....unless an attack ensues.

Later, gang.

A little snow on the grass this morning, none on the roads but it left them slippery. No train news overnight but had a good group on the Tardis chat.
