Something I haven't tried but they say it works. Hang milk bottles of water secured to the top from underneath. That too is suppose to absorb the sound. Another is use plastic wire bundle ties through the table top to secure the track instead of screws...S.J.

Aloha from a quiet snowy Saturday. Cold and a few inches fell overnight. Just enough to have to remove, I guess. Went out into the storm last night to try a new Mongolian-style grill in town. It was good food. Nice ride on the TARDIS last night with the birthday boy, RT and Charlie, Brutus and SJ. Today, I'll try to tackle taxes, clean the house a bit and then get over to church to serve as video director for someone who is sick.

Neat ideas on sound deadening.

Bob, love the transformer! What is the Marx tower supposed to do? Light up?
Jeffrey, that looks like a beautiful memorial service for your mom. My condolences on your loss.
Chief, I love the Trane motto - nothing runs like a Trane. Glad the box is warm.

Hello! Sorry about how late I am today.

Jeff, great to hear that things went great. Also like the L&A caboose. Got thinking about adding one to my layout's roster.

Not much going on today either. Up late last night because of the game. Didn't see the whole game, but checked the paper this morning, and our varsity team pulled through. The JV game was just before, and we had a very big gap between us and Canton, with the score in favor of us.

V8Vega

. On eBay a Lionel Alco B unit Santa Fe 8021 like new from the pictures went for $65 + $8. Seems high to me, what do you think? I was going to bid but I wouldent have bid that high. I forgot, thats the trouble with waiting untill the last half hour, this is not the 1st time that has happened.

Dennis, That is a bit high. I got one in March of 2011 for $42.53 that price included the shipping It is in C7 or better condition. I use it with a 202 that has a 8020 shell and a 218. Nice looking ABA set. I run them locked in one direction pulling a 7 car blue strip passenger set. It was in the last video I posted I think.

Well once again my plans got hijacked for family priorities. Breakfast at the Waffle House with the family. The booths aren't big enough for seven so we took two booths. From there to Wal-Mart so my father could pick up some things for a family later today. Since I was ther I picked up some gauze pads and tape for what is supposed to be my right foot. Right now I'm on my old computer at my fathers place. The family barbeque isn't long off so it's better to remain where I am instead of going home and having to return in an hour. My most recent cable problem was fixed yesterday. The recent high winds had ripped the cable loose from the hook on the service pole so the cable was hanging low over the road where it comes across from the main pole. It was high enough for most vehicles to get under but if a high truck or RV had come through it would have gotten snagged. I called Suddenlink about it Thursday and they said it wouldn't be until Monday and I told them I didn't care what it took, I wanted it fixed by the end of the weekend. So they put it on an emergency ticket to be done as soon as possible. It was done yesterday. they had to change out that entire length of cable. I guess it was damaged. It had been up there a long time. I'm very satisfied with the work that was done.

More from malfunction Junction later.

WOW kind of chilly out there today, 14 degrees at 4:00PM Surprise

Well we got groceries and I loaded up the Gator with two loads of firewood. One for the front porch and the other for later. Then took a ride around the perimeter of the land.

Chief, You want to know what cold is???  Hmm   It is when you take a ride on the Gator around the perimeter of only eight acres and your beer freezes up before your done! That my friend is cold. Bang Head  Bang Head  Not as bad as nose hairs freezing up but right there. I do love the nip,,,,,,, till I get cold.  Tongue Tied Fire is cooking in the fireplace now. Wink

Sounds like your having a great time with family and friends Jeffery Whistling

good evening all.

Kev, didnt make it to the post office in time today,   I should be happy it even still there. they were gonna close it, now they have silly hours

I was thinking back on the boy scouts discussion today.  My scout troop was in a carriage house type structure next to the church.  the scout masters would sit and chain smoke cigarettes during the whole meeting, ashing in an old Offering Plate from the church.  Scout Camp? hahahahah  never went to a BSA camp, we were towed out to one the leaders farms and ran rampant while the leaders drank beer, and talked about who they were cheating on there wives with that month.

so heres what I learned at scouts:

How to Curse Well

drinking beer looks like fun

since the scout master did it, cheating on your wife sounds like fun, must be ok too

how to be racist

Smoking cigarettes is cool

And a whole slew of other things the 13 year boys shouldnt know about.

I think all the kids that went to that troop, ended up dumber in the end

Any way, last nite I ran trains for an hour and a half, with absolutely no issues.    I go down tonight, and cant get a train to go around once with out a derailment, or couplers coming undone etc

cold here today

wife made her paint decisions this AM so we went to Home Depot, and the guy at the paint counter said he never mixed paint before.  after I explained to him how to do it, he called some one else over and told them that I was giving him a hard time,

WHAT, hard time, I was trying to help him.    I was really close to throwing at gallon of paint at him. Hard time, he hasn't seen a hard time yet.

hope all is well with every one

Family barbecue is over with. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, sausage, ribs, potato salad (home made), corn, black-eye peas with jalapenos, three-bean salad, potato chips. The potato chips never got opened for some strange reason. It was a very nice family affair. Entertainment was 50's music from Sirius Satellite Radio. When it was over with the fish got the left overs. Not the chips though. I took my IHC Alco C629 down to show it to my great-nephew. To say he was utterly fascinated is an understatement! His attention was so centered on the loco you could have driven past him in a Sherman tank and he'd have never noticed.

Now I'm back home, gorged and tired. It's been a busy day. One thing I forgot about yesterday. While at the funeral home I dropped my Nikon camera (L20). It was off at the time. The impact broke the locking tab off the battery compartment door. A piece of masking tape made a great redneck style quick repair. Hey, it works. As far as I can tell the camera still performs like it's supposed to.

Ryan, I had to laugh at that one. When we were poor white kids growing up in north eastern Ill. Our parents told us we were too broke for Boy Scouts,, I guess you had to pay for stuff like uniforms and the like so we never even got close. Now after reading your post it sounds like it could have been fun.  Wink We did have a neighbor lady that took pity on our poor souls and talked our parents into letting her drag us to some Baptist church thing called Awanas. All I found out there is that the Baptist girls were just as interesting as the Catholic ones.  Mischief  So much for clubs. So then I joined the choir. Angel  Whistling

Busy afternoon.  Went by Harbor Freight where they had the snap together foam rubber floor pads like you put at your work bench.  Bought a lot with a special coupon.  Came home and started putting down flooring down the isles in the Box.  Had to go to niece's birthday party at Monkey Joes [heaven help us all].  Came back by Harbor Freight with another coupon and bought another batch.  Now when you enter the Box, you walk on the foam flooring.  Also, all the isles are now floored with the padding.  Looks good and walks good.  Also can run wires under it from bench work to bench work.  Still had enough to pad the area at the workbench. Cool

Doug M., well its, "Nothing can stop a Trane." and "Nothing runs like a Deere."  Surprised the KEV or Jon didn't squeel.  They are John Deere fans like me.  I do agree, nothing seems to run like this Trane heat pump.  Variable speed fan in the outside unit and same for the wall mount unit.  Very efficient and quite.   Set it on the temps for heating and cooling.  Then set it on auto.  Calls for heat, it heats.  If the temps go up like last week, A/C comes on and it cools.

KEV, going to arrest you for operating a Gator under the influence. Laugh

Time for some diet ginger ale.

Good evening all,

Flurries in SE Indiana off and on today.  Great news about Tyler!   Chief, glad to hear you go to those "Foreign sport" games.  Let me know when you go to a soccer game!!!   Stayed up with the "saucy wench" until 2 this morning doing a jigsaw puzzle.  Skipped the Kokomo show due to the weather.  Was looking forward to it, but just did not want to risk being on the road if it got slippery.  We watched "Ironman" after Mass tonight.   Got the latest issue of Trains today.  Good ad on the inside of the front cover.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Sunny and about 40 today.

Well, my flat tire at work appears to be related to the recent drop in the temperature.  I filled the tire with air yesterday and it is still holding.

The county historical society is starting to plan a train show here this fall.  One of the people organizing it stopped by the deopt and asked my wife if we'd be able to set up a layout at the proposed show.  Sounds like fun.  I think I'll come up with something to feature my operating cars and accessories.

All for now.

Konnichiwa,

We don’t have much going on today.  Due to an ailing wife and youngest child, we did not go to Sunday school or church this morning.  The wife has a little bit of a bug and the youngest has a cough.  It’s nothing serious but there’s no sense to be around others and it’s best to remain in bed.  I have spent most of the day watching the UFC fights.  There have been a couple of entertaining fights and the main event is coming on now.  After this fight I’ll spend some time reading.

SJ – I’ll gladly take your cold weather.

Buckeye – I’m glad you’re okay.  That sounds like Rebel sabotage to me Mischief, or simply their inability to take care of their roads down there.

Sayonara,

Joe

TARDIS is ready.  Jeffrey - that was a very nice tribute to your Mom.  Prayers for you and your family.

I did my taxes today, then picked up some snacks and goodies at Walmart.  Nice chat with Charlie, RT and SJ tonight.  We watched Hotel Transylvania, which is really fun - loved it!

Good morning. It's 47°F with 80% humidity. The high will be 68°F with some clouds.

I'll be going to my fathers place in a few hours to help prepare breakfast for the family. So that'll be me, my father, my younger sister and her other half, my older niece and her son and whatever other family members show up.

Not surprisingly no layout work was done yesterday. Maybe I'll have time to do some today. But I wouldn't bet on it.

And if the photo below is any indication the Nikon seems to have survived it's recent trip to the concrete.

good morning

we got a light coating of snow last night.  COLD

Burning an absurd amount of fire wood as of late

8N  I had a tire like that on my truck before. it would go weeks with no issues then wham.... flat for no reason, some times it was only a day or two.   sometimes it was gradual, other times only a few hours.

come to find out the was a screw in it, and I guess it depended on where the screw was in relation to the tire tire when i parked.

ohh well went on for three months like that then finally a 8.00 plug job

gonna try to get some painting done today

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....

It is a cold 20 degrees. Going up to 23 today(big deal). We got about an inch of snow last night. More today.

Today is an easy day. Grocery shopping was expensive yesterday. Prices keep going up. Gas is back up to almost 4 bucks a gallon.  It gets better all the time. A few chores today and then relax. Superbowl tonite.  Pregame is 6 hours and game is 4 hours.  Sounds like a real circus.

Buckeye... Looks like the REBS rented you a real lemon. Glad you are ok.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Are the draft and damper on your heater working properly? A friend of mine had one that had the draft stuck open for a while and it burned an insane amount of wood.

Morning guys, 20 degrees with a very light snow falling. Pretty out there. There are two of those large Pleated Woodpeckers working over the same tree the one was on a week or so back. The wife got out of bed early to watch them. They are cool. At the rate they chip away the tree may be felled soon.

I am thinking of cutting some risers today off of the advice I got from Brent. ¾" per 1’ and play with raised track.

Tim finally decided to tie the knot with his long-time girlfriend. One evening, after the honeymoon, he was assembling some loads for an upcoming hunt. His wife was standing there at the bench watching him. After a long period of silence she finally speaks. "Honey, I've been thinking, now that we are married I think it's time you quit hunting, shooting, hand loading, fishing and those trains will be great for children. Isn't it time you sell your guns and boat?" " and pack up those trains till we have children Tim gets this horrified look on his face. She says, "Darling, what's wrong?" "There, for a minute, you sounded like my ex-wife." "Ex-wife!", she screams, "I didn't know you were married before!" "I wasn't "

Morning.  Actually cloudy early with a few snow flurries but temps above freezing so it looked like it had sprinkled.  Sunny now.  Warming.  Good week ahead.

Always blame the REBS for Yankee inability. Angry Glad he is OK.

Fifey, know it is sad when the birdies fly the next.  They always come back for a morsel or two.  That is the way the family grows as he will start a new one just like you did. Thumbs Up

Kev, listen to Brent.  Just don't follow in his footsteps.  Saw a leg and arm off while falling from a tall ladder. Wink

Wifey wants to go do errands later.  The "Boys" ["adopted Grandboys"] may come and play trains today.  They finally got all their track and switches I gave them for Christmas out.  Put together a "layout" on the bonus room floor.  Dad, a finish carpenter, still has not built them a table like he promises. Bang Head  Guess "Granddad" will have to go over there and build it for them. Confused

Guess the old man in Ioway is frozen in as no posts lately.

Have a good one.
