Well, my office shut down just before 1:00 and it has been snowing here since this morning.
So far we are at about a 1/2 foot of dense, wet snow, and it is supposed to snow through the night.
That said, I did get a couple of hours to work on the layout this afternoon.
I doubt that the evening train to Greenport will run.
Needless to say Saturday will bring more train time !
Safe and sound at home.
Ken
At work tonight and it looks like I will have to work at least a double.Nobody loading but have to try to keep this place open.Supposed to get at least 18 inches here.Be safe tonight!

OhayĆ,
I woke up early this morning: the youngest wanted to start the day early and the wife and princess were getting ready to go on a daytrip. The girls are going on a local Japanese tour which also has a strawberry-picking component. They should have a great time and will return later this evening. It is a bit chilly today but it is very sunny. The boys and I will hopefully stay out of trouble. I should have time to catch the Tardis.
Chief – I have not been totally corrupted. I never said anything positive about CSX, just pointed out the inferiority of NS.
I’ll be praying for Mike C.’s daughter and BOC.
Enjoy your snow folks, but please be safe.

Got part of the layout vacuumed this morning, around a quarter of it. Then the rest of my day got knocked into a bicorne (cocked hat)! My father needed help sorting through some stuff (somebody has to do it) so I went to help. I had lunch AND dinner there. Salmon patties for lunch, cheese burgers for dinner, all homemade. Now I'm wiped out. My foot hurts, my knees hurt, my back hurts! Even my neck hurts. As far as layout work goes today was a total drag.
Getting up early to shovel snow tomorrow morning. Night everyone.
Temp is 28. Snow stopped falling this morning but it's been very windy. Banilla will be ready for the thingy crew. This is the short version as I hit the bar at the wrong time and erased all of my post...S.J.

How time flies when you're having fun, not that I call being in pain fun. It's come to that time again and I must call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
good evening
hope every one in north east is fine
we didnt get NOTHING none, not a flake. I wanted 2 feet
I know, I know, some of you think that I am not being considerate of the people in Boston, etc
Its all about PREPAREDNESS gas for tractor, gas for generator, food, drink, snow shovel on the porch, etc
The storm will NOT be deadly, if your prepared, don't go out driving in it, leave work in time to beat it home, and just stay inside. If your elderly, call your neighbor to send there kid over to shovel you out. just stay inside, you'll be fine. I can't believe how many people panic when weather like this comes around.
any way I'm of to bed

Prayers for BOC, Ryan, and Mike and his daughter. Also for Tyler and John's family. Prayers for us all and our loved ones and friends.
I seem to remember there is a train show tomorrow, so I'll go look for it. Nice chat with the guys tonight including RT, Joe, Charlie, SJ and Doug My son has really buckled down and raised his grades - his lowest grade is now a D and all the rest are spread out like A, B, B, C.... We found a place to apply pressure, and it is working. The A is a class that is just one semester and he just started it, but has kept up on it. Thanks for the advice and prayers.
TARDIS is ready - let's go!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Evenin' All.
Good day at the museum in spite of a few DCS gremlins. Had a nice long mixed freight with two powered at the head end and a helper in the middle of the consist. About two thirds of the way around a 180* curve(reverse loop) the helper lost power, what a sight. So many cars just laid over on their side, fortunately the breakers tripped before any real damage(other than pride) could accur. Workload was shared between three MTH SD-70 ACE's and three Atlas SD-35's.
BOC, Welcome to the CHF Club, as if that's a group that any of us want to become a member. I've pretty much become accustomed to the salt restrictions, 1500mg/day, somedays I do better than others but as long as the average is within reason. Giving up the coffee was easiest of all even though I used to drink it from getting out of bed til going to bed. My medical provider sponsors a CHF support group that meets monthly Sept thru June and they can be very helpful if one is available.
Extra special prayers going out tonight for Mike's daughter and BOC as well as for all those in the snowstorm.
Great news about Tyler.
Got all of today's toys put away and the eyes be gettin' tired.
Nite all.

Good Evnin'/Mornin' Y'all From Snowmageddon Taxachusetts,
We are getting hammered!!!!! B-L-I-Z-Z-A-R-D!!!!!! This is fun. No panic here, Ryan.
I just got in from round 2 of shovelling and snowblowing, trying to make a dent and keep somewhat ahead of the game. It is difficult to tell how much of the accumulation is mine and how much has been donated to me. It is snowing sideways!
Local wind gusts to 80 mph in several places and a sustained 35+ common with the sustained winds continuing until tomorrow evening. Some periods of thunder and lightening have livened things up as well. Due to high tides and the 3+ foot storm surge, coastal flooding and evacuations have commenced with the worst yet to come. 350,000 in Taxachusetts are without power and the count is rising. Except for the road and emergency crews, the roads are eerily empty.......mandated by the governor.
Probabably 15" of snow has fallen already for me with drifting bringing the height over 20 inches, higher in some places. The current forecast predicts it will be a-snowin' until 10am tomorrow morning. I should get close to 30", could be higher for me depending on how the moisture bands coming in off the Atlantic track. They say the worst is yet to come, with some hours seeing over 3 inches per hour!!! My road has been plowed to about 1.5 car widths. They missed the curbs by about 6 feet on both sides!
The wife and I are enjoying this as long as we don't lose power. There is nothing more soothing to one's mental state than to be prepared for anything and having the correct weapon to counter what Mother Nature throws at you. There is no way I could shovel all of this, even if I were half my age. Orange should be my favorite color.......Lionel and Ariens. The snowblower fired right up and didn't skip a beat. 8 horsepower, six forward speeds and two in reverse. Electric start, and a headlight.
Poor Maximus. He gets outside and stands there in the elements with a "WTF!!!" look on his face, empties both tanks in record time, and then leads me back to the house double time. He even bangs on the door as if to say "Are you nuts? Hurry up!!! Move faster!!!!"
None of my neighbors ventured out and are going to be in a pickle come morning, except those with a snowplow service. The underlayer is wet and heavy snow, and with the drifting I'll bet their snowblowers won't be able to handle it.
Yes, I took my ibuprofen.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Good Evening All,
Yep, I'm still alive and doing well. Still pushing the trains around, even though it is slow this time of the year, still working 5 days a week. Then spending time with our company. This retirement is just too demanding!
Looked at the pot today, (first time this month), and thought I should post. You may recall the guy that made that anti-muslim film that created an international situation a few months ago. Well, he only lived about a mile north of where we do. Well, this guy that the big man hunt is on for lives about a 1/2 mile south of us. And, I thought we lived in a bedroom community! (Helicopters have been flying overhead for two days, monitoring their house.)
One of the guys from Knott's came over last weekend, wanted his wife to see our train room. We had a great time running stuff, and I even "Certified" him as an official operator on our railway. That was the first time I spent anytime out there in 3 weeks.
Delivering media to Hollywood tomorrow for the Academy Awards, then hopefully a relaxing day.
SPMan Good morning all, Got a new puzzler, problem with DCS MTH engine. Yesterday, I accessed it with the DCS handheld controller and pressed the start up button. OK so far. The engine powered up and the sound system was working. I also checked the horn and coupler features which both worked. Then I tried to scroll the wheel to start the engine but it would not move. Same thing in reverse. Tried doing a feature reset but no change. I suspect that it might be a low battery issue. Have to take the shell off and see what kind of battery is in it. This is one of the earlier engines ACL E6 diesel so it might have the old style battery. If so I have a charger for that. If it is the newer type, I will have to get a charger because the old one is not compatible. Got to run, Ray

Ray, I think you may have a weak battery. What I believe is happening is with a weak battery, when you power up the track, the engine will "Start-Up", couplers will work, BUT the engine does not move. Because the engine doesn't know the identity that you have programmed. IF you try deleting the engine from your remote, then adding the engine back in. (Will come back as same identity number, assuming that it is the lowest available number in the roster.) And press "Start-Up" and move the engine it will probably respond. Another way is if you remove the battery from the engine, and it is a 9 volt battery, substitute an alkaline 9v for testing purposes.
Getting late, so wish you all well! And stay WELL !!!!
Don
Cloudy and 30's today.
I've been real busy at work the last few days - took Monday as vacation, but still logged over 40 hours.
I've been putting the finishing touches on a pin hole camera tonight. Building it for a demonstration at tomorrow's kids program at the KATY museum. Making the camera was the easy part, as it is basically a box. Turns out that the film is the hard part of the project. I was hoping to find some Kodak Tri-X black and white film in sheets for this project. It is still listed on their web site, but I could not find any localy - no suprise there. Ended up with Fuji 400 speed 35mm color film.
We'll try it out tomorrow and see what happens. Going to have to guess on the exposure times.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR ....
It is a cloudy 33 degrees. Going up to 39 today with cloudy skies.
Today is an easy day. I have some chores to do and then I will work on a train project for an hour or so. It is slowly coming along. Lunch and a nice nap, later.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Chuck
Morning.
Light snow still falling this morning.
Here is the view from the kitchen door.
Happily no power problems, a turkey to roast later on, and trains in the barn.
Yep...that looks about right....we did get more than the guessers forecast here...about 15" fell here.
Well...Good Bright Sunny Morning Everyone!!...

Good morning. It's 43° with 100% humidity. It'll be cloudy with a high of 68°.My plan today is to get more vacuuming done on the layout. For this reason I got the Shop-Vac detail vacuum brushes out so I can get into those small areas where the regular Shop-Vac brushes just can't get to. Yeah it's slow going with those but it's easier than teasing out the dust with a small paint brush. Hopefully I'll have half the layout done today.
Another lovely day in Rogers Corners, Ohio. Blueberry Hill is just a few miles away.
Classic Toy Trains website will not be operating on February 29, 30 and 31 of this year. Just thought everyone should know.
Temp is 20, going to 30. We have bright sun for all day. So they say.
Tonight is our club meet, looking forward to being with the guys for some toy train fun. Brutus knows where I keep the key for the banilla stash..S.J.
Good Morning!
27 and 3-4" of snow in Beautiful Bayville, NJ.
I just got done clearing the driveway, sidewalks and cleared for the mailman. The sun is out now. Leaving soon to clear the Ice Cream Shops parking lot and walkways. Later I will spend time going over and servicing some engines today.
RI Jack: Be carefu out there and enjoy the day at home. I hope you keep your power.
Don, You may be busy but you seem to be enjoying your retirement.
Buckeye, Nice! That is what Bayville, NJ will look like next week.
Brutus, Jim, Great news about your son!
Mike C: Continued prayers for your daughter.
My son and I are planning on going to York. I got my registration in the mail Thursday. We are bringing the Lemon Ice Cream, SJ. I have to confirm with AF53 if he is going.
Everyone in harms way, be careful!
John
Good morning, Cloudy and about 28 degrees.
Could not get on the forum earlier today for some reason, and thanks to Buckeye reminding me I won’t try on the 29th, 30th, and 31st.
Not much going on today. I hope I can meet up with my friend who does my taxes, maybe, maybe not.
Ryan, tracking says out for delivery today. Thanks!
John, My Dakota had an optional larger rear end with posi so I had no problems there but a friend of mine had his go out too. Brakes were the bad part on it,,,,,it went through brakes like water through a screen. The trans was starting to act strange just before I traded it off.
Jack, Hope you have power. Looks bad out there.
Prayers for MikeCs daughter and all the rest in need.

Great 3 days without the pot(29,30,31,) what will they do next. The best part is after the 31st we will have finally reached March 1st.
I'm in a little pain right now. Just got done shoveling snow at the high school.
Thanks Don, I will try that delete and re add thing. I did check the battery which was OK but recharged it anyway on an independent charger. Glad you are still doing your thing at Knotts. Was talking to our mutual friend Larry (who visited you at the park) about coming to see your layout sometime. We would like to do that when you have some spare time. It would be good for me if Larry drives.
