sir james I

Kevin like others, I watch your video and wait for the train to land on the floor. better do fix real soon.....S.J.

 It will be okay SJ.

I am hooking up a Breathalyzer cutout switch like they put into cars for people with DUIs into the main power for the layout. Beer Drinks Laugh

Seriously, I am working on building a back wall for it today that I can build the hill slope of scenery off of as money allows. Once I figure out how to do that, that is. Confused I need to use the neighbors table saw to cut a 16" section of plywood for the back wall but he is not here today. maybe tomorrow.

Mid day on the North Bluff = 40 degrees and bright sun. Cool

Good morning all, not much to report here but just checking in.

Jeffrey, looks like you are well on your way of learning about the new tractor.

Spanky, glad Tyler got the make a wish trip on schedule.

Nothing planned today except take a walk and possibly line up get together with train buddies this week.

Cooked some Alaskan Cod for dinner last night and fried some water ground corn bread for a change.  It is hard to find here but one local market carries it.  We had it all the time in South growing up.

Prayers for all in need,

Ray

What is with the forum's headings?

As in nothing being there? Don't know. The other forums headers all show up so it has to be something specific about this one.

They seam to be alright now. The forum member's names (in red) were jumbled.

Jeffrey, looks like you are well on your way of learning about the new tractor.

It doesn't take long. With an IQ of 187 I pick things up real quick. It took me all of about ten seconds to figure out how all the controls worked and about five seconds to have a real eye-opening experience. Then I read the manual.

Took some photos of the new tractor this morning. Here's one of my father sitting on it. He's like 6' 5" so he makes it look smaller than it is. He's tried running it and has already scared himself off of it. See that pole in the background? He got a very good look at it as he just barely kept from hitting it! I wish I'd gotten a photo of the look on his face! It was PRICELESS!

For those interested you can see more photos HERE.

Mornin' Dudes & Dudettes.

Great weather til yesterday turned cold and damp monday nite thru today. Spring must not be to far away, while out in the yard monday afternoon i watched a pair of Redtail Hawks perform what looked like their courting rituals. Really enjoy watching birds of prey flying/soaring around here, need to set up an owl box/nest up on the hill to help with gopher control.

Hey Pat, Good news for your herd ! After being branded as a big contributor to Global Warming with "Bovine Flatulence" it appears that they have been replaced by the deadly scurge "Earthworms". Bang Head  Grumpy

Good news on my K-Line Mike, it looks/operates as though the boards are good. After a more thorough testing it appears that the smoke unit itself had shorted  out. A new unit is on it's way, hopefully that will remedy the issues.

Sounds as though you guys in the northeast are going to have some "Snow Days" this weekend, best make sure your liquid medicinals are fully stocked and ready for any emergency.

The sun is finally showing itself ! Got to get in gear and get a few things done outside after it warms a little bit.

Later all.

Today has been one of those days here.  I came down to the basement before work this morning to find a ZW and RW sitting in water thanks to a leaking pipe.Sad  At this point, the ZW looks like it's done due to internal damage from the water.  The RW doesn't bother me, but this particular ZW has been in the family since it was new.

After dealing with the ice, snow will almost seem like child's play, so don't worry (and I have been in both, neither is fun, but you can just let ice melt, whereas snow, you can't).

Chief, The Red squirrels were beating up on the Gray squirrels today and it is 46 degrees and sunny so I thought I would help out the grays. Three shots from 70 yards, two kills. I hate wasting 22LR shells. Tongue Tied I guess the one was just a little too close to the tree I grazed.  I took the kills to the neighbor's for coyote bait. Retirement if a good thing. Yes

I got a JVC video camera today. Model GC-FM1. I got it for a good price. F-R-E-E. My father was going through some of my mothers things this morning when he found it. Still in the box and never been used. She bought it years ago to use when she went on her next vacation. That vacation never came and it sat in a drawer of her desk forgotten. I looked it over and told him I'd like to have it. After a few seconds it was mine. I brought it home and charged it while I read the manual. Pretty simple and straightforward. I then recorded a short video with it and uploaded it to Photobucket. Here is that video.

good evening, nice to see every one here and in the best of possible health and spirits

Jeff, nice tractor,   In RE to the owners manual, I need a part for my log splitter a while back, and for the first time,I opened the sealed baggie that contained the manual .     Just for fun, I read the safety pages, and realized that I HAVE VIOLATED every safety aspect of the machine, and I mean ALL of them.

KEV, make sure you hook the breathalyzer up in reverse, so your always sure to be in the proper state of mind for ALL operations

I just skimmed the posts, I was out on the road all day picking up scrap from my clients,i am tired and sore.   I'm sure some more of ya have things worthy of reply, I'll catch up on all this tomorrow.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 30s.  Daughter made it thru first procedure although she did have a reaction to the anesthestic (sp?), but they were prepared for it.  She is staying there overnight and hopefully will have the gall bladder removed Thursday.. Thanks for all the prayers.  Long day at work as back was in much pain.  Rested tonight.  Watched MASH and Arrow.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evenin' Fellas

Finally had a few minutes to post. Today we met Matthew for the first time. He is very cute! I will try to post a pic or two in the next few days... very tired. He was born 2-5-2013 @ 6:29pm 21 inches long 7lbs 10oz.

Fife - sorry to hear about fifepup. But rest assured he was raised well and will be fine. BTW Matthew looks a bit like fifegrandpup!

Evening all.  Back from the farms.  No hunting.  Time ran out.  When we got there this AM.  Filled feeders, put in new batteries in feeders and cameras.  Changed out SD cards in cameras.  Ate lunch.  Friend Fred worked on his shooting lanes for a stand he has.  I rode around with the farm guy looking at changes to do to land and old buildings.  By the time we finished, one of his men had taken a trackhoe and destroyed an old barn and two big trees and piled them to burn.  Put up new posted signs.  Fred thought that small metal posts and signs would work.  What the "redneck boys" didn't pull up, the wind got.  New 4X4's cemented in the ground will make a difference.  Lots of deer and turkeys on trail cameras I down loaded when I got home.

Turning cooler and windy.  Green field behind the house has a line of deer crossing it when I went out with the dogs.  They didn't like my coyote locator hawl mouth call. Laugh

KEV, I have seen posts saying you can not slant curved tracks.  I use to have sections of curved slanted or sloped track when I had my first layout and it was 027 tublar.  Used it to help with high speeds in curves.  Also added some straights or half straights when possible to help with curves.  Go for it.

Off to bed.  Sleep tight.

PS: just saw this.

Wow Chief - what the heck happened with that woman?

Jeff - nice tractor and nice vid Thumbs Up

JimT - sorry about the ZW, that sucks man.

Mike - prayers continue and I'll drive tonight, you take it easy!

Great news on Tyler - wow!  Sounds like it will be a fantastic trip!

Well, I finally found a key that fits my Hornby loco I got at York last April.  It's funny, because the key cost as much as the locomotive!  Hornby MO locomotive made back in the 30s, still runs really well - lasts quit a long time Smile  Banilla and rootbeer is on me tonight, boys - beacons on!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Hello all

Back at the house. Same roomates so that's something.

Did my good deed for the day. Coming into Benson on I-10 around 6:30 I came up on a truck running w/o lights. 80K pounds of truck. After passing and seeing that he was running w/o any lights at all, I backed down to the cab and blinked my lights. He got my drift and his lights came on. Prob a bit zoned out from being on the road. Driven trucks like this before and it is a lot of responsibility so I try to help when I can.

Tomorrow may be the only day to paint the bike this time off. More rain in the forecast. Will prob be doing front end work in the drizzleLightning

Ran the 0-8-0 on the newly retracked highline division of the Mt. Graham & Arizona. Very nice.

I hope to beat the frenzied crazies and do some grocery shopping and a couple other out and about chores this morning.  Then fire up the snowblower to make sure preparations are complete.  Bang Head

Konbanwa,

Today was a fairly busy day as I had a lot of paperwork to finish at work.  The wife made homemade pizza tonight.  It was especially good because she topped it with roasted vegetables in addition to the pepperoni.  She also made a sugar free cake.   I was skeptical of it at first but somehow she made it taste great.  All the snow we received yesterday is now gone – the rain took care of it.

Kev – The new elevated sections looks great.  Thanks for sharing the videos.

Jim T. – I’m sorry to hear about the water damage.  Thankfully it wasn’t worse.

SJ – Just have Chuck redirect the snow cannon again.

Jeffrey – I’m glad the video camera went to someone who can use it for our hobby.  I did not care for Photobucket’s new format and switched back to the original version.

Congratulations Brent!

Sayonara,

Joe

Since it has been raining heavily I think I'll stay home today.

I spent yesterday woking on the mall layout.  I wired a circuit for the voltage plugs on about six switches and tried to find out what the deal was with another electrical problem.  I think I know where the problem is and that will be my task next time (probably tomorrow morning).

Since we're only open Thursday and Friday nights and all day Saturday and Sunday we sometimes encounter dissappointed customers,  A lady dropped in yesterday and mentioned that whenever she brings her grandson by on weekdays, we are closed. So I invited them to come by on Friday morning.

And today, I have train projects to work on in the basement.
