Good afternoon everyone. Tired, had to go in late last night to cover for an emergency.  All went well, but it wore me out to go back in this morning.

Wife and kids are going to MIL's tomorrow to visit, so I hope to get some work done for taxes and then perhaps some layout work...Chief can't be the only one making progress!  Still, his efforts are impressive.

BOC, prayers lifted, each step is another closer to being done.

Doug, hope you are having plenty of fun there!

God bless,

Dennis

IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!  We built the main entrance lift bridge without the high $$$$ CA. hinges.  Used $3.25 per pair from Lowes.  Ran the little switcher back for forth across the bridge.  Smoother than the MTH switches.

Rushing to the Lake House for a Property Owners Board Of Directors meeting.  Back tomorrow.

Bridges.  To be painted and etc.  Actually got two short extensions to add to it.

The bent L brackets supports the bridge when open and leaning backwards.

Later.

Well I'm back online for now. We've been having storms and power outages all day with some storms being particularly nasty. I called the pharmacy a little while ago to see if my prescriptions have been updated. They haven't. I called the docs office again and again nobody ever picks up the phone. Maybe they've been closed the last few days? I have no idea what's going on there. I need those meds, especially the insulin which I'm totally out of. The effects from not having it aren't pleasant to say the least. There are other effects which I'll not go into here suffice it to say my nerve function isn't good enough to allow me to work on models or anything else that requires a steady hand. I can't even handle a camera right now so I'm not even going to attempt working with decals. Running Bear sitting on the side watching TV and hoping I don't spill my drink.

Here;s a couple of old photos to look at.

Lunch time:

TGIF and I am on VACATION next week!!!!

Nothing new to report on the train front.

Fife: now you know why our crews are requested. Ours were among the last to leave on this last round of mutual aid. I witnessed one of our line crews climbing with the hooks when the temps were 98 to 100 because they could not get the bucket in the spot. You can bet that the crew from Quebec was getting their 16 hrs of time and a half.

Laz, 140 now and I will be there.

BOC: Prayers and hang in there.

SJ: That is my kind of lunch and dinner.

AF53, Ray, stopping by tonight?

Prayers for all in need.

Have a Great Day,

John

Well Jeffery I just figured it was dead weight. Confused

It is but with as light as that loco is (Bachmann could have used a heavier metal for the weights) it needs all the weight it can get.Laugh

 jeffrey-wimberly:

I found a snow plow. Upon close examination it appeared it would have to be glued to the front of the loco. That didn't appeal to me. I tried it on my Bachmann GP38-2 and what do you know. It snapped right on. So that's where it will be.

Jeffery, A snow plow on the L&A line?????????? Huh?

Why not? I see plow equipped locos down here all the time and some of them never get out of the state. Besides, the L&A goes all the way to northern Arkansas.

Mornin' boys.  Overcast & 80 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  TGIF.

Hudson - The crews from Quebec couldn't (wouldn't) work when temps reached 95.  What a waste calling them.

Banks - Idea Might you be passing northeast of Baltimore...?

Chief - Hopefully you won't be unhinged for too much longer...

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s.  Took it easy last night.  Did go for a walk with wife.  Good day at work.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL and I will go easy on the barrel rolls as some of the passengers got a little queasy when I did them Thursday night.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello all

Just got back from my trip to Colorado/South Dakota this morning. It's been a whirlwind couple of weeks, but things are going good.

Was an interesting trip on the Southwest Chief yesterday which I'll post about later. Will post some pics too, but I still haven't found time to post the pics from my trip up to PhoenixTongue Tied

Time to find a pillow. Thoughts and prayers for all in need.

@#%^&#z*!!!!  HINGES WILL NOT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!  that is unless a train can safely cross a 1/4 inch gap in the rails.  Probably ship these back and chalk it up to not order anything from CA. Angry  Probably use the Jim Barrett method and use regular hinges.  Tired of waiting around.  Also save about $100 less shipping and price of small cabinet hinges from Lowes.

Now to go to the house and rest.  Been a long day.  Wifey came home insisting we go to Applebees.  She is not a supporter of my diet.  So ate a salad and drank unsweetened tea.  Had planned on eating a tomato sandwich.

Not happy!!!

Sleep tight.

Had to do some work on the FT B unit today. The wire for the right rail pickup on the rear truck had broken loose and I had to solder it back in place. That was easier said than done. It has a cut down Stewart frame, Proto trucks, a PPW motor. It also has an Athearn F unit super weight glued to the frame (with epoxy) and that partially covers the rear truck. Add to it that the units Bachmann decoder is on the underside of the super weight that's right over the rear truck. That left just a hair over half an inch to get the needle nosed pliers holding the wire and the soldering tools tip in there and kinda be able to see what I was doing. I got it done on the first try and put the shell back on. Note for the future: When mounting an Athearn super weight onto a foreign frame don't glue it. Find some other method to secure it. I had first thought of drilling a couple of holes up through the frame into the weight and putting in screws. I ruled it out as being too much work. Oh, such short-sightedness. It's gonna be interesting if I ever have to replace the motor.

Let's see, ah it's 86 with sun all day.

I took granny to visit one of her sisters today, we had lunch at one of the local golf courses and the food was good and not over priced. I had pulled pork sandwich, curly fries, cole slaw and of course a pickle. $7.99. A banana split tonight made with banilla of course was our supper. I shall wait for the thingy...S.J.

Good evening everyone.  For some reason, I am wiped out.  Must not have gotten the sleep I need.  Had to run some errands and get some stuff ready for when we get "the call".  Picked up some extra meds, etc.  worked things out with hospital pharmacy to get meds at hospital cost for the kids in the orphanage.  I have found that many corporations are willing to donate items for such a worthy endeavor, they just need to be asked.  It has been said that America has the most generous people in the world....I believe it!

Watch out guys, them varmints seem very well armed!  You may want to stay away from them.

Charlie, I was amazed at how inexpensive it was to have the windows tinted in my car.  I know it takes a careful hand and plenty of patience.  I left Tito the professionals, they did a great job and I think it only cost $170.00.  Mercedes wanted upwards of $500.00 for the same job (if you order it from the factory, it is applied to the windows before they are installed).  One thing if you are still doing it yourself, I know you have to check the clearances on the felt where the window retracts into the door.

Chief, keep up the good work.

God bless,

Dennis

Afternoon all.  Went to post a good morning and I was the last one to post "last night" so skipped it.  Early breakfast meeting [ate two slices of pineapple and two of cantalope, that is all].  Then luncheon meeting and had shrimp and oysters with broccoli [no fries].  Unsweeten tea with lemon. Crying  Doing good on my diet.  Now tomatoes for dinner and that is all.

While I was at lunch, hinges came.  While I was out back with dogs, switches came.  Ready to go. Yes  Now to get universal remote to work the TV/DVD player in the Box [could not find the original and did not ask as they forgot it]. Whistling

KRM

Well I got lucky on the Gator wiring issue.

When I checked it out I found that the voltage regulator wire harness had got pulled under the frame and a wire was pulled out of the connector. Well the connector had two open ports and I only had one wire. So I looked at the parts drawing on the Deere web site and it showed the inside port as open. So I put the wire back in the outside empty port cleaned the connections and put some dielectric grease on the pins and Bingo, Now charging 14.5 volts. I also rerouted the harness so it is away from where it can get snagged and pulled under the frame.  Big Smile

 Have a good day guys

How do you think the wires got pulled down?  Racoons getting even. Surprise Laugh

Later.

PS: this software is screwed up.  Typed in regular 5 and now checked.  How it turned bold, who knows???

PS PS: took it out and reentered.  Worked.

Just a quick splash and go as I just got back from an eye appointment and need to head out to pick up my car at the dealership.

The eye exam went better than expected and I have been declared a man with normal 61 year old eyes Thumbs Up with a need for new prescription and new contact lenses......but they couldn't squeeze me in for the fitting until tomorrow afternoon.  So I have to go back.  Bang Head  Other than the overall health of my eyes, the optometrist took the time to review my 20+ year history with him (baseline versus today), my issues, and he thinks I will be seeing as good or better than I was 5 years ago when I last saw him.  That was good news since I have been struggling the past couple of years with both distance vision and reading, should have gone back sooner. DUH!!! Whistling

BOC....... prayers Angel your treatment went well today.  Hang in there, buddy.  We are all pulling for good news with your follow-up tests.

JimmyT......was glad to read you have an interview coming up on Monday.  I will kick in some extra Angel that this time is the charm.

Later, gang.
