Time for me to call it a night. I feel much better now so hopefully I'll be up to driving tomorrow morning. The doc will be in tomorrow so I'm going to park myself right in front of the sign in window so I can get all my prescriptions renewed then take to the pharmacy and get them filled. That will likely be the extent of my activities tomorrow.

I hear thunder in the distance so it's time to get out of here. See y'all tomorrow.

Well, gotta get some sleep.  God bless,

Humm,

Dennis, I must be one of them you consider bad, but I don’t cuss much. You have a way of only answering or responding to those you approve of. I see that a lot here.. Getting a better understanding of SJ’s post and why he backs off. I may need to take some time off too. I don't get it some times. What make some think they are better than others???? We all are God's gifts.

Glad to see you back DougM we were getting worried. Now where is 88? is it be because of all the bad press Pen State is getting again?? I hope not. Who cares??

Why does everyone have to be hung up on their own problems??? Maybe they have never had anything bad happen to them??

Our God bless,

Well it was another day in Saint Louis.  I hit the hay a little earlier last night as I was worn out.  Today I felt a little puny all day, but did check out the supplies for the shower assembly and a few other things.  Apparently I lost the instructions for the water faucet - I'll have to find them online, but that should be no problem.

Welcome back, Doug!

Too many posts to reply to them all, but glad to hear everyone seems to be getting along pretty well, despite problems with holes the sheds, walls and neighbors, retirement, getting meds, dealing with heat, power supplies, and all the usual stuff.  Prayers for BoC and for us all and our loved ones and intentions.

Nice chat with SJ and Charlie tonight.  Glad to make the chat again tonight, after missing it last night.  Mike - we're ready to fly when you are.  Looks like banilla is needed!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

MichRR - Good looking crew. YesCool

Good morning. It's 74°. Humidity is 100%. There's a fair chance of showers and thunderstorms. The high will be 92° but it will feel like 107°

I'll be off to tyhe docs office in a little while. I feel much better than I did yesterday. Woke up with a low grade fever this morning so that probably explains my severe lack of appetite yesterday. I feel up to driving today so getting to the docs office won't be a problem. Be back later.

Aloha! Back to work. Hot again in Chicago. Boy, do we have a drought too in McHenry County!  Like Mike C says, it's interesting to see what thrives and what dies...  SJ, I paid $2.99 for gas in the mountains of Tennessee.  Back home, I paid $3.69. Yeoch! I've seen Brent (88) pop up on Facebook. He just looks busy. Driving on 65, I was inspired by the miles and miles of gigantic wind turbines in Indiana. Looks just like the Lionel ones.

You should have seen the heavy traffic on Interstate 93 South in NH last night after the Nascar race in Loudon was over.  Packed with tons of cars headed South, back towards Taxachusetts and elsewhere but hauling just like in the race albeit at a slower 70mph..  No snafus or idiots, with everyone fairly much holding their lanes.  Wifey was not allowed to drive.  Her run-in with a State Trooper (last Sunday night) was enough for me. Whistling

The rains that were supposed to hit between 7 and 9PM never materialized. Bang Head

Gotta run but before I do Angel that Jeffrey does not strangle his Doc until after her gets his prescription filled.  And likewise Angel BOC's test results come back good.

Later, gang.

Hi GUYZ,

WOW was a soupy 72 here at 0500 this morning.  Took MINNIE for her one mile walk and then I ran a 2 miler then ate cereal then took MINNIE for a 5 miler down to river.  Gotta cement in cloths line polls today and also do about 10 miles on the mountain bike yet.  I did just buy a 5 car DAP NS PASSENGER SET to complement the NS DAP F7s that I got last fall. I have the dome car so now I got 6 cars and will be on the lookout for the other two add on cars.

BANKS we got about 1.5 inches of rain last nite so I don't have to water for a few dayz.

CHIEF, I do like how you mounted those hidges, that must be the trick for no space?

FIFE, WOW the UKE and a rain dance all at the same time.  YOU DA MAN!!!!   Better play some more.

Fife has a way of explaining things real calm and well.  LE training I guess.  I think I missed something. ????

I know sometimes I type something and then read it later and say, "That is not what I meant."  I also find that my "old mind" does not remember everyone who posts [unlike Jack].  I meant to respond to some and forgot by the time I have finished typing.

Kev, agree.  Penn State thing has been beat to death.  Tired of hearing it.  There was the "wisest" fellow who walked the earth.  When encountering a group of men about to stone a woman said, "He who is without sin, cast the first stone."  Everyone of the men left.

Well, busy day.  County Commissioners and then Mayors' anual baseball game at the Mudcats.  Yes, another free meal.  Hot dogs, hamburgers and fried chicken.  Poor diet.  No potatoes and etc. for me.  Only bread will be the hot dog buns.

It's 80 going into the 90s for several days.

I don't care it beats having goose bumps and riding the dog sled. Chief keep eating those free meals and you may need a girdle for Christmas AND a wider bridge.

Welcome home Charlie and Doug M., glad both families had fun and a safe trip..Doug another fillerupper yesterday said gas before the 4th week was at $2.89.

Still no signs of rain. The ground is cracking open.

Kevin, not exactly sure what you are speaking of.  I mentioned that we got the TV Guardian, that is for TV and movies.  I just believe it is not good to expose children to foul language, etc.  never mentioned anything about the forum.  Regarding who I respond to, I try to mention things that have stuck in my mind after the several pages that I read here before actually making a post.  Many times, I look for Jack's post with a list, so I can recall.  I personally have a lot going on right now and if I miss something, please forgive me.  As to some thinking they are better, no, I am just a sinner saved by grace.  I do try to keep things along the high road, but I too fail sometimes.

On other fronts, I am on call and have to head in shortly for a late case.  Really don't like the late ones as for some reason, it just takes longer.  Starting out early, we get things done quite efficiently.  When you move to the afternoon, some like to slack off, just riding the clock to their finish time.

Joe, hope the rains have not caused too much trouble for you.  Reports have said as much as 4" in an hour! Stay safe.

Doug, we really like HHI.  Duke has a meeting there every year and I have been able to go several times.  Not sure it will work out this year as we may be in China when it happens.  Our favorite restaurant is TopSail over by the lighthouse.

Well, gotta head off to work. Have a blessed day

Dennis

Sorry for the brief (for me Whistling) post earlier.  But I was doing someone a big favor..... and she calls at 10:30, the time she is supposed to be here, saying she's just leaving her house, 35 minutes from my place. Bang Head

It is no big deal except for the fact that the woman, whom I have never met and who is desperate for help, was referred to Pam and I to help with ear problems she is having with her Doberman:  the ears are cropped but are not standing erect, are flopping all over the place.  We offered to help her straighten out this mess, even let her pick the time and the place of her choosing.

If she was getting charged by the hour, whether she was here or not, like I do with my business clients, she would have been at my door ON TIME!!!! Super Angry

Time for me to put on my happy face and shut up.

No good deed shall go unpunished. Bang Head

Good morning all,

Chief, I identify with not remembering all the post on the pot before I close.  Thank goodness for Jack who is good about it.  I too use his list as a reminder when I can.

Off to my primary doctor's office this morning for a regular check up.  Will get the verdict on my last blood test I imagine.  Hope the doc is caught up today.  Last time I sat in the examination room for an hour waiting for him.  I would rather sit in the waiting room if it gets like that.  At least I can read the year old magazines.  I need to donate some of my old Trains and CTT mags to his office.  A lot more interesting than the trash you see in most of those places nowadays.

I think we are all a little weary of hearing about the Penn State scandal.  The clown is in jail where he belongs and the rest of them will be held to account in time.  Time to move on.

have a good day,

later, Ray

Kev: Don't fret about it too much. I'm an old pro at putting my foot in my mouth.

Well I got my prescriptions renewed, went to the pharmacy to get them filled. Got everything but the nexium for my gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Seems the insurance company requires a physicians approval for it to be dispensed . Geezz! The doc just wrote the dang prescription not fifteen minutes earlier! I'll have to pick it up the next time I'm in town. Last month it was Avodart they needed a physicians approval on and in May it was something else. What do the bean counters do? Sit back and throw a dart and whatever it hits is what they require an approval on? Dang bureaucrats! Can't live with them, can't kill them! Well, at least since I've taken my meds I feel a bit more normal now and don't want to rip the head off of the next person who calls or knocks on the door.

Got a thunderstorm moving in so I'll be backing out of here. See y'all later.

Hello all

Back up at work for a few days. We are in summer maintenance now so I will be working 4 days on/3 days off for a while.

Here are my belated photos from that trip up to Phoenix:

The old Magma Arizona Railroad looking west

Looking east

A photo of my friends VW bus at the Tom Mix Memorial:

The crossing signal had a sign saying "Exempt" on it. Any idea what this is referring to?

Kev - haven't made it back to the electronics shop yet

Joe - still need to get that shipping info for ya

Now that things should be settling in to a regular schedule for me, hopefully I can get caught up on a few things.

Hope everyone has a good week

It's still 94, I don't know if we will be porch sitting tonight or not. I have to water the garden, that's for sure. Too hot for heavy meals, I had tuna fish sandwich's with real tomato in them. Maybe some banilla later or some Butter Pecan from Pa. Turkey Hill brand got it at Kroger's, it's pretty good. I shall be  waiting for the thingy... Kevin sometimes you just got to let it out. S.J.
