Chief, sorry you're having so much trouble with those hinges. I only have one of those on my layout and I measured the gap today. It was only 1/8" although it is noisey when a train goes over it. Also mine is not on the main line so I don't run over it that much. How much gap to you have on the new hinges?
Still struggling with the new fence project. The new footing has been dug but has not been prepared for pouring concrete yet. Now waiting for estimate on materials and labor. After that will decide how much I should pay or else get some more bids. My trees are all gone now. Back yard looks like a disaster area. I need a lawyer and a priest or both but failing that maybe the cavalry.

Chief,
Looks good. Any plans for an interlock and some insulated sections on the open side?
Chief, Are those bridges wide enough for you to fit through, or are you planning on making then double??? Where are you eating tonight??? All in all looking good. SP Ray, sucks to be you, Sorry man I never heard of a shared fence. Hey Jim Probe I hope the interview works out good and it is a great Union job that will support you for the rest of you working life. Sounds like you may be able to get one of then when Hudson John retires. 140 days. Sounds like there are a lot of fly by nights working around him. When you guys get our age you can pipe in and tell us how it is. Off to water again. Rain to the north and south but none for the farmers here. SJ, I think I am more understanding that you may think.

Time for me to call it a night. I didn't do any layout work today. My hands are too unsteady and I'm in quite a bit of pain. I did run a train for a while. Well actually I just let it run while I watched it go around the layout again and again. The GP35/SD27J/8-40B got the honors today. I didn't really feel like doing much in the way of moving cars around. Just the sound of the wheels on the rails was relaxing. Hopefully I'll be able to get at least a few hours of sleep. Rain is still falling off and on and more is expected tomorrow to the tune of at least 50%. It's so wet now that just thinking of going outside I can hear squishy footsteps. See y'all tomorrow.
Evening all not a lot going on here.
chief looks great any plans to hide the hinge work ? I was thinking some type of lights in the L brackets holes like red and green would be cool as signals to cross the bridge.
Been out of the llop for a couple of days so not sure what all is going on B.O.C. prayers still going for your recovery.
Have to redo some of the paperwork but at least it getting closer. Haven't heard on the refiance but said it could be next week befor I do.
Nothing else actually happening here
Hope all have a good and safe weekend

It's 82 now. reached 90 today.
I got the grass cut this morning, it's been at least 2 or 3 weeks since I cut the back and it still didn't really need to be cut. No rain. I had a nice chat with Brutus last night so I will hang around and see who shows tonight..S.J.

Got a little bit of much needed rain today. Temperature dropped to about 80 after the rain too.
Going to help my wife with her Thomas the Train kids day at the Depot museum. We've got 4 tables of Brio set up and a small loop with a Lionel Thomas set up.
Heard back from the dermatolegist. He wants me to come in again so he can enlarge the divot he took on my last visit. Goody, goody.
All for now.
Kev,
I won't interview for a union job. Ever.
Good Evnin', Ya'll,
Jeffrey......I would consider your situation an emergency, and you can't wait. Drive to your pharmacy and chat face to face. Your pharmacist who knows you and your condition and your history and your coverage should give you what you need until your Doc can be reached. Better yet, have the pharmacist help run him/her down, and they will understand what you are dealing with. Better to avoid an emergency room visit or worse. The emergency room would be my backup plan for the insulin until this can be ironed out.
Got behind again on my POT reading, need to catch up.
In the meantime, we are entering the longest streak of 90+ weather for the year according to the meteorologist. We have had only one day of measurable precipitation so far in July. So I finally broke down at sunrise and started watering the lawn to appease the wife who wants green grass for the granddaughters' joint B-day party next weekend. Green isn't necessarily going to happen, regardless. When grass goes into its dormant mode during hot/dry stretches without water, it does not have a tendency to revert to green very quickly, may have to buy some paint and give the grass a coat. Should I prime it first?
Picked up the car from the dealer yesterday afternoon for all of the "issues," covered by the warranty extension. I sat in the parking lot of the dealership before I headed home and went over the items one by one. Shock!!!! Everything works!!! The highway didn't work, however, and it took me 90 minutes to drive the 20 miles home in traffic. Should call it a parking lot, not a highway.
Wifey and I took Maximus the dog out to some open spaces for some training in the broiling sun and the heat around 5PM tonight (not my idea) but we had to cut the session short. Heat and dogs don't mix since the only way canines have of cooling down is panting, and it isn't particularly effective keeping their body temperature in check if you overdo it with them. Plus Maximus is black and heats up in the sun in short order.. He took quite the snooze when he got back into the cool comfort of the house after the session and some hydrating. Did you know that dogs should be given room temperature water? Cold water has a tendency to make their stomachs cramp up and make them sick. And if you let them drink too much at a time, you get the same outcome. Slow and moderate is the order of the day. I never had any of these problems with
NASCAR races up in Louden NH this weekend. Crowds of 100K plus expected in the heat, humidity, and traffic. Danica Patrick is gonna woop them good ol boys, all of them.
LAZ........sounds like your routine is pretty much the same now as it was before you retired. Golf, fishing, grilling, goofing off, Old MILs.
Later gang.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Howdy guys! Well, we got the new DVR box finally and it is working. Tonight we went out to eat, late becuase Char was working late, and then went to BB and bought a new set of land-line phones. We have a problem with the two handsets we have owned disappearing into the kids' bedrooms until the batteries are dead. We bought a new set with 4 handsets, one for each bedroom and the livingroom. As SJ, Joe and RT pointed out - this will give us twice as many dead phones, which is obviously twice as good as our current situation?! The new phones have to charge for 7 hours before use. I told Char, I'm not getting up at 4:30 AM! We'll just have to let them charge some extra time
BoC - continued prayers!
Chief - good work on the hinges, very interesting!
Jeffrey - I guess you could go to the emergency room if your blood sugar gets our of whack?
TARDIS is ready, so lets' go!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Morning all. Wake up chief!.
wife gets up about 6 every morning to feed the stray cats. so guess who it wakes up even thou she tries to be quiet.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....
It is a cloudy 62 degrees. Going up to 80 today with a chance of rain.
Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and then I will relax. Ballgame this afternoon and a nap are on the agenda.
Dining car rolled in with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.

Konbanwa,
I had a busy past couple of days and the Pot sure has been busy. I’m not sure what I missed but it appears some posts may have been removed. I guess the heat is getting to everyone. It has been very hot and humid here as well. I was able to join SJ, RT, and Brutus on the Tardis earlier today. We were on the verge of solving something big but then their bedtime arrived, and so did my lunch. Oh well, maybe next time.
It’s great to see Bob is back and Chief’s progress on the box.
Where is Doug M.?
I’ll pray for all those in need.

Mornin' boys. A damp 68 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Think I'll just lounge around and -up the ukulele.
It's a stuffy 74, with some 90s on the way. A good chat with Brutus, RT and Joe last night. One of the topics was the US Olympic uniforms made in China. Breakfast is gonna be BLTs with real tomatoes..S.J.

BOC.......Is it leather? Sounds kinky. Hope you are feeling OK.
Good morning. It's 73° and a bit damp here. The high will be 85° and there's a fair chance of showers and thunderstorms.Today will be a do-nothing day for me as I've already broken two freight cars while putting them away. You don't even want to know what my blood sugar reading was this morning. Let's just say it was high enough to get me depressed and there's no danger of a crash. Right now I'm watching a train travel around the layout, same motive power as last night. Later I'll switch them off and and put on the two FT's.

Hi GUYZ,

Ran the ol RR bed at NED SMITH LANDs, got some rain last nite to so it was very humid and to say the least made room for some more OL MILs tonite. Boy did I sweat. Today going down to the KIA dealer in HARRISBURG to see what we will get on our two cars. A 2001 Potiac Grand Prix, and an 05 Jeep Liberty. WIFE wants the new KIA SOUL and last week gave us a price of 21K without the 2 cars. I still have an 03 F150 thta I can use now, but WIFE needs a better vehicle with good MPGs. We'll see?
CHIEF GREAT JOB on the bridge! How much space in the break of the track? Get yourself a srorm door actuator to slow down the decent of the bridge when closing it. Saw it on the OGR forum looks like the nice thing to do.
FIFE, strum that UKE!!!!! Sounds of DON HO are coming up the SUSQUEHANNY. BREAK OUT THE OL MIL!!!
Stya frosty,

Good morning all,
I think the humid weather we had for a couple of days is moving out today. I hope so but it's still hot anyway.
Sorry I have bored you all to tears over the block wall fence my neighbor is putting up behind me. I will try to live with it until we have a resolution.
Jeffrey, hope you get your medication needs straightened out with the pharmacy. Need to light a fire under somebody.
Chief, love your new hinges and mounting method. Let us know how much clearance you have now at the joints.
A friend of mine in Colorado sent me some pictures of draught at Palmer Lake over there which has almost dried up. He used to go trout fishing there but now there are just a few holes left with water in them and the trout have all died. He said there were a few wall eyed pike left and a few stray ducks but that was all.
My two sons and grandson are off to see the Battleship Iowa today in San Pedero which just opened recently for tourist. Wanted to go myself but stuck here watching things going on at the house.
I would like to go to the beach South of us as soon as I can and spend a couple of days there to clear out the cob webbs in my head and cool off..
V8 Dennis, glad you got your payment for the rental property, albiet piece meal.
Laz, you got up and down out of that bunker like a pro. Way to go!
Later, Ray
Good afternoon all,
It is cloudy in SE Indiana with some spotty showers. Had a wonderful Friday night with the missus as everything we did went according to plan for once. She met the car pool at Indy after work, went to the hobby shop and Barnes and Noble as planned and got what we wanted there. Went back to Shelbyville on the way to catch the high school boys soccer in a "friendly" scrimmage, and ate supper at Appleby's. Watched a couple of old "Angel" episodes and went to bed. Boys lost in a shoot out after tying 2-2, but the weather was tolerable and it was well played on both sides. Wife and a co-worker are going to see "Magic Mike" while I get some quiet time tonight and then down to Bloomington and beyond on Sunday for some family visits and wander Indiana time. Off Monday for two dental visits and maybe some other activities. SJ, I am not sure what happened but I hope you sitll visit the pot. SP Man, do not worry about the fence stories. We are all here for you. Believe me, I know interactions with neighbors can be stressful. TBIL anytime tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

With the temperatures and putrid humidity, SJ's idea of Banilla for dinner is sounding better by the minute. The grandchildren will jump on this suggestion. Now all I have to do is convince the daughter and the wife.

Good evening everyone. Wasting a little time, watching a program that questions about the suicide of Meriwether Lewis...pretty interesting. I am actually testing a new addition to our home entertainment system. We got a TV Guardian, which cuts foul language out of TV and movies. It is limited in that it needs the program to have had Closed Caption in the program. Works on the programs I have watched, but when I put the movie "Green Zone" DVD on, it did not have CC and the language was not cut. This should make a lot of programs actually viewable for our growing family.
Jeff, good luck with the DM, hope you are able to get ahold of the glucose levels. I know it can be most difficult to control and a good endocrinologist is well worth it.
Chief, I like the bridge system you have going there. Regarding the gap, could you fit track pins into the part that is raised and then have cut outs on the receiving end, so it fills the gap?
Have been taking care of the honey dos while SWMBO is visiting her mom. Since I have been left home with just the dog, I think a trip to get some ice cream may be in order.
Hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.Dennis

Knowing that Buckeye has a nice garden layout I'm thinking this would be a nice step up for him! And now that Laz has the time this seems like a great way to begin retirement.
