Mid 90s today going to be 100 + tomorrow. YUCK.

I now feel like I look. Not too good. Don't know what is up with this?

Watered the lawn today and have a nice project for the basement tomorrow.

Stay cool and prayers for those in the way of the CO. fires and all else in need.

Calling it a night early. Just changed the dressing on my foot and took my night meds. About to take my 100 unit insulin shot. I cleaned up the weathering on the Bachmann Niagara. It still runs good. Would run great if I cleaned the wheels and pickups. The pickups have some of that weathering powder on them. Tossed a Norscot bulldozer into the alcohol today just to see what it will do. So far it hasn't even fazed it. See y'all tomorrow.

Sunny and triple digits for temperature today.  Real treat when I went out at lunch time and got into my black car with a black interior, in the middle of a black parking lot.

Got to practice my e-bay sniping skills.  Was out-sniped on a #600 NW2 and a radioactive waste flatcar this week.

The #600 was the common black frame version, but it had two axle magnetraction.  The radioactive waste flatcar was average condition and the lowest price I've seen in a long time.

All for now.

Konnichiwa,

I’m just finishing up my lunch break now.  The weather is warm today but cloudy as well.  The workday is flying by and I don’t have anything exciting going on.  The Yankees won again which completed the sweep of the Indians (sorry Chuck); however, they lost two starting pitchers on the same day.  Fortunately one of them will be back right after the All Star break.

Dennis – No worries.  Yes, it was Elfin Models and they are pricey.

8N – Did you sniping practice pay off?

Joe

Been working on the Rail Road all the live long day [and night].  All the SoundStop except for a small section [covered with track and switches] has been sealed with latex paint.  That stopped the dusting off.  Track laid [not screwed nor wired] over the back wall, right side and right front wall.  Who says an 8 year old can snap together MTH RealTrax?  Friend Fred got a "lesson" in snapping together RealTrax.  "Oh that is easy."  After a few grunts and a few "words", it snapped together.

Had to stop for friend Gail's birthday dinner.  Then back in the Box laying track.

Off to bed.  Early Human Services Board meeting tomorrow [well today] morning.

Sleep tight.

PS: Go New York Yankees. YesCool

To JoeyD, the Chief, HudsonJohn, Rich, and the NYY fans out there.  The loss this week of two top starting pitchers puts your Yankees in jeopardy.  The Red Sox got one of theirs back, another shortly, but yet another just put on the DL until after the All Star break.....RaySP syndrome. Laugh   At least they have climbed out of last place and are moving in the right direction. It's tough to catch NY when all they do is win.  Just maybe a wild card birth is within Boston's grasp this season.

It's 73 now. They are still saying 99 for the day.

RT, Happy Birthday to your wife. I will be heading off to the doctor's office soon. I had black coffee and no breakfast because I'm sure he will want a blood donation before I leave there. Average price for regular gas right now is $3.45, saw one yesterday at $3.39. I didn't think those Feb. forecast for $5.00 would happen it's an election year. God help us next summer though...S.J.

Good morning. It's 79° and partly cloudy. The high will be 100°.

Nothing special planned for today. I found paint that's tougher than that used on Bachmann locos. The type used on the Norscot Cat equipment. I soaked a dozer in alcohol for twelve hours just to see what it might do. Nothing. Didn't even faze it. Am I glad our models aren't painted with this stuff! Haven't decided yet what I'm going to do with the Bachmann 4-8-4. I have no use for it except to put on a spur or display track and leave it or use it as a paper weight. Need to do some cleanup on the layout today now that I'm finished playing around with the N Scale models.

Good Morning CTTFans!

Well, we got some rain and also WIND yesterday which ended the streak of 100+ days...

The rain did help the Fire Fighters yesterday but sadly we are see more of the destruction that has occurred.

In Colorado Springs the count of homes lost is somewhere between 200 and 300.  Once it got into the city it was literately a house to house fight.  Here is an aerial shot of some of the massive destruction...

The large fire up near Ft. Collins is now 75% contain and they are saying 257 homes have been lost there.  It is listed today at 87,284 acres.

Sadly I am learning through Co-Workers that they have family / friends whose homes are among those lost in recent days

Konbanwa,

I decided to have my four-mile run this evening as it might rain in the morning.  I hosed off the front and back porch/patio areas this evening which took care of another “to do” list item.  We are hosting an office dinner this Saturday so we want the place as clean as possible.  I just finished some schoolwork and will be off to bed shortly.

BOC – I’m praying for your full recovery.

Jack – The Yankees are playing very well.  Fortunately CC will only miss two starts; Petite’s injury is worse.  I don’t believe CC’s weight had anything to do with his groin injury.  I think he might be lighter this year and he has always been a very durable player.  During his last start they showed a stat showing he has pitched more innings than any other pitcher over the last few years.  I hope your wife has a nice birthday.

Sayonara,

Joe

WOW, 10:30AM and already 95 degrees. Cool

Seems there are a lot of places in the same mess. Sad

Looking more and more like the summer of 1988 for us here in North Central Illinois. I feel better today and got a good night’s sleep. I have a train project to do today. Building a containment dike for the tank farm. NTSB and EPA order it after the near miss last week. Pictures will come. Stick out tongue

Seems like the Supreme Court pitched a curve ball today. I am always surprised at how they always seem to vote along party lines when they are supposed to be interpreting the law and how it applies to the constitution. Enough said on this one.

Blownout Cyl. Sorry for the fall. More bad news you don’t need. Prayers for you. I can’t say I would blame you if you don’t want to post pictures of your struggles. Take care bud. Angel

RT, Happy B-Day Cake happy birthday to your wife and congrats on you 28th anniversary tomorrow! Drinks

Darren, Those fires are terrible. I pray for rain and a stop to the carnage. Angel

Chief, keep up the railroad work. Wink

SPRay, I think I would be wanting to punch your dentist if I were you. Super Angry

Fifedog, 50# is a lot to loose. You can’t possibly be getting as many free meals as the Chief in your job. Must be the donuts. Laugh Just kidding! Smile, Wink & Grin

Have a good one.

Lunch Time:

Busy here getting those trucks out for the heat wave.

SPMan, Ray, Roy Rogers and Gene Autrey are still favorites of mine.

8n, my theory about ebay is that if you did not "win it" it was probably junk. At least it makes me feel good. I recently scored a 2056 Hudson. It seemed like no one was paying attention to it. Another sold the next day for better than double what I paid for mine and the pics for the other makes mine look a lot better. I had a lot sniped under me for pennies.

BOC: Thoughts and Prayers.

RT:  Happy B-Day to your Wife. Happy Anniversary tomorrow!

Buckeye: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!! Yes

SJ, I agree with you on the gas prices.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in Need.

Have A Great Day!!!

Congrats to Buckeye.  Sympthoy card to Mrs. Buckeye.

Aloha. Paradise. Just like the summer of '88 in Illinois, Kev. Super-hot.  Of course, the A/C is not working in the van. No big deal because my youngest just dumped 14 ounces of iced tea on its carpet. The ice will keep my feet cool. Wink.  Nice chat with the guys last night!  Happy birthday to your bride, RT.  Happy anniversary to Buckeye and his bride too.  Had to put our long-time cat down this morning. It's a thing a dad has to do. He was a good pet. Off to the eye doc...

Now 102 degrees on the North Bluff.

Sorry about the cat DougM. I remember when the kids were small and one of our dogs got hit by a car but not killed. I had to call the family in to say goodbye and take her out and put her down, hard stuff to do. Summer of 88 katie was only 3 months old. Hard time on babies this heat can be.

Today’s project. Containment dike for the tank farm. Now EPA is happy.

Cost = 0 Material used ¼" Plexiglas hot glue and make it stone paint.

Hi again gang.  A happy birthday Cake to Mrs.RT and happy anniversary Buckeye with condolences to your wifey! Laugh

DougM.....I am sorry to hear about the loss of your kitty.  It seems like our pets are with us for such a short time, and I can clearly remember the profound sadness of the day Pam and I lost each of them over the years.

Re your youngest's spillage in your car, the wife I made it all the way out to Elgin IL and back with the eldest granddaughter in the car without so much a single spill.  Conclusion: miracles do happen. Wink  My SIL and daughter in the other car were not so lucky with our other granddaughter who turned 3 while we were in Elgin.......major regurgitation about 50 miles short of home.  Surprise  Better them than me. Laugh

And how can you stand to go the Summer without A/C in your van?  Are you a masochist?  I remember the Illinois Summer of 1988 well.  June was not only a scorcher but was dry as a bone to boot.  The corn fields at this time in June were in deep distress with the stalks only about 2.5 feet high.  The wifey and I took a drive up to Lake Geneva and Lake Delavan WI, and things were about the same there.  Then we moved here to Taxachusetts days later.  The heat followed us!  Luckily you and KEV have air conditioning in your homes.......you both have A/C, right? Whistling

Might touch 90 tomorrow and into the weekend here on Cape Ann.

Re gas prices, 87 has dipped below $3.30 in these here parts for the off brands and HESS.  Somehow I would rather pay more for gas if I didn't have to listen to all of the flatulence coming out of Washington and on the campaign trail. SoapBox

Later, gang.
