Lunchtime,

Brent, are you sure you are not decribing mine or AF53's back yards. My front is nice but all of the years of go karts and paintball took it's toll. It is on my to do list.

I will be heading down to York on Thursday. I will try to make dinner.

Prayers for all in need.

Have a Great Day!

John

A short up close video run by of the Frankenstein F unit trio. You can almost feel their heavy weight pounding the rail joints.

Fellas - I typically don't do this, but a long time poster on another - non-train related - forum that I frequent posted that his 24 yo son Ryan has been having seizures since just before his 21st birthday. He is having brain surgery this Thursday to help reduce/elimate them. I would post a link to his post, but don't want to get banned here. So please add Ryan to your prayer list!!!

On the run.  Dentist early.  Town Hall to great new Town Clerk.  Haircut.  Fixed garden beds and planted 5 tomato plants [2 feet tall and blooms and one has a tomato].  Now shower and County Commissioners followed by Mayors' Assoc.  Home late.  HOT here.

Prayers for Ryan.

Fifey, tell her anytime.

Got to go.

V8Vega

Awhile ago my house water pressure regulator was dripping so I stuck a pencil in the hole and that caused the water pressure to go way up in the house. Right now I'm doing the laundry and I can hear the water rushing into the washing machine. Will this hurt anything?

Depending on how much pressure is involved it could blow out any compression seals. I had a supply line blow out on the bottom of a toilet tank. I had to turn the water off and reinsert the line and re-tighten the compression seal. I also closed the main valve partially to cut back the pressure coming into the trailer to about thirty pounds. So far it's held for fifteen years.

Kev, ... I want to see more photos of your layout.

Doug, Take a lap or 2 around the track. Just something I tried today.

 V8 ,How high is high?
anything over 70 psi is too high and could blow out a valve in the washer.

Oh wow, great layout Kev!

Ray, my bride did the same thing years ago without mentioning it to me -  blew out a valve eventually -- right as I was leaving the house one day. From the garage, I heard something funny and came back to a fountain. It could've been worse because i knew where the shut-off valve was... Stick out tongue

Brent, even in this economy, the quotes I get from the Scotts and other folks who want to fix my lawn are ridiculously high. So I do the standard weed-and-feed and anti-grub stuff and try the best I can with the rest... Good luck!

Prayers for Ryan!

Hey thanke guys! I was messing around with the video thingy on top of a boxcar.

Brent,

Go to your local farm service supplier and  get some soil sample kits. it is the only way to find out what you need. If your like me may just be some lime to bring down the PH levels so the grass can grow.

Soil sample kits are around $25. and they will tell you the story. Then you can put down what you need and none of the other stuff.

I agree with the above Brent unless your clueless on lawn work ( which I think your far from being ) I would not use a lawn care service as its way too expensive and I have know a few all in different areas that was not happy at all with Scott's to be honest with you.

I'm sure theres ones that are but you normally hear about the ones not befor you hear about ones that are thats just normal :)

Well didn't get much done train wise today other than got the trains off the shelf and did predrill the holes in the track and painted the screws and the holes for the screws. guess Thursday we will find out more as have Dr tomorrow and Wed . well guess it's time to relax as did get some outside work done today

Home finally.  Tired.

Dennis, nothing but your water bill. Whistling

Doug, the REB lawn improvement service is available for a "price". Mischief

Think seriously about this.  Riding to and from York in the same vehicle as SJ. Sigh

Sleep tight.

PS: Kev, great looking layout.  Is it haunted?  Kept seeing some ghostly guy in a beard looking back every so often.

Time for me to call it a night. Did a little work on the layout today and replaced a popped decoder. I just happened to notice while the Frankenstein trio was running around the layout that the lead units headlight wasn't on. I pressed F0 on the controller to turn it on and nothing and then I noticed the locos wheels weren't turning. A Stewart F unit is fairly hefty but the other two locos were pushing it around the layout like it was a feather. The three of them together weigh four and a half pounds with the second unit being the heaviest. I never saw any smoke from the lead unit. But when I sniffed it I knew. No mistaking THAT odor! Took about two minutes to program the new decoder with the information it would need and about ten minutes to install it. Put the shell back on and back into service it went. Got a short video of the GP7's at the shop. No motion but there's sound.

See y'all tomorrow.

Nice chat with the guys tonight.  Played some xbox and told my buddies I'll see them Sunday probably.  Everything is packed except for some personal grooming stuff, which will go in the bag in the morning.  I put one suitcase inside another in case I find some deals at York, but think it would cost me like 35 bucks extra for 2 bags coming back.  Oh well, might be worth it if they won't ship cheaper.

Prayers for Ryan!

Mike - pick me up, I can use a rootbeer float to help me sleep good tonight Thumbs Up

Partly sunny here today in the low 60's.  The weekend storms passed us by both on the north and the south.

DDG - I think I'm fighting the same thing you are.  Still tired and can't seem to get rid of the cough.  Its been a week since I first got the bug.  Thought I was going to mow the lawn after work - cough, right no problem - cough, hack, hack, cough, cough.............

Jeffery - that magic smoke that makes the electronic gizmos work does have a distinctive smell, dosn't it.

Safe travel all of you Yorkies.

All for now.

Good Mornin' Y'all From Crystal Clear Taxachusetts,

Nearby points just West and North of me topped 90 yesterday, but the ocean breezes kept my high around 78.  All of the fronts carrying rain my way have arrived without dropping any appreciable precipitation.  For the first time ever I may have to break out the hoses and sprinklers before June.  The lawn is green but looking sick.  More of the same weather today, albeit cooler.

Yesterday was a Taxachusetts holiday, Patriots Day, celebrating the first shots fired in the Revolutionary War.  The Red Sox home game started in the AM!!!!!  That was followed by the Boston Marathon.  The downtown Boston area was gridlocked all day as might be expected, with some areas closed down to vehicular traffic and with the influx of competitos and spectators.  I'll bet there were more than a few folks visiting hospitals after they attempted "suicide by marathon."  Estimates say 2,100 were treated for dehydration.  That's right!  2,100.

The first of  the boys are off to York this morning.  Wishing all of you who are going safe travels and good times.  The rest of us will try to hold down the fort until you return.Thumbs Up

so thats what that was thought it looked kinda scary and funny place for it to be by the trains then realize it was his protection device for his trains to keep unwanted visitors from them. Smart move. Laugh

Nice train layout.

Morning all have DR. visit today so just taking it easy till that time.

Hope all our York goers have a good and safe time.

Mornin' Fellas

Kev - I thought about doing that, but I'm color blind and they would do me absolutely no good... unless I can talk TheQ into reading the results for me... Sigh At 1.37 acres I really don't know if I want to tackle this myself.

Well off to earn a few more dollars for York (screw SS this month!)

JACK,

My WIFE, PAM ran in the 100th Boston Marathon back in '96.  She was running alongside 40,000 other runners that day.  It was a rather warm ay too and she felt the heat of it.  She finished it.  It was her 10th and final Marathon.  She always had Boston as her goal in Marathons and since she finished it had fulfilled her dreams.  It wasn't her best Marathon but she got thru it.  Was sorta a let down.  They had to get up at 3AM have their breakfast, get on a bus take them to Hopkinton unload and wait in their corrals until their turn came up.  They put them in corrals as to their qualifing times.  The waiting part for 4+ hours was boring.  Lot o people that day, it was neat but I too had my fill.

Good morning. It's 62° and cloudy with a slight chance of showers in the morning. The high will be 72° with a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Feeling a bit fuzzy this morning. Can't concentrate and keep forgetting what I'm going to do. I had planned to do something with the Frankenstein F unit trio. It's right in front of me and I have no idea whatsoever what I was going to do with it. Nor do I have any idea about what I was going to type next.

Not the same photo as yesterday but it's close. This one's an F7. Yesterdays was an F3.
