Good morning. It's 73° and partly cloudy. The high will be 85° and there's there's a 20% chance of rain this afternoon.

Well today I need to get over to my parents place, get the tractor fired up and mow their yard. We have a 50% chance of rain tonight followed by two days with better than 40% rain chance. So if I don't get it done today it'll probably be a lot harder later. As for the rest of the day I have no idea what I'll be doing later. Probably wishing I'd stayed in bed. Time to get at it.

Back from teaching Senior Ladies class.  Was short lesson but lots of decision [which I like].  The time I did this earlier for Wifey, they just sat and looked at me.  We really had a great time.  Wifey is quiting that class.  She has labored over this for over a year.  Wants to go to her own class and also have lake time.  Destroys her weekend to come back on Saturday night to teach on Sunday morning.  They are really going to be upset.

A line a clouds came through?????  Now sunny again.  Go check the pond and rest for the rest of the day.  Southern fried chicken and brunswich stew for lunch.

Prayers for those hit by storms and prayers for those in the forecasted storm areas.  Tomorrow marks the one year of our tornado [actually the second but bigger one].

Have a great week [especially those workers who help with my SS Whistling].

Got the parents yard cut. Had only one problem and it was very minor. At one point I had to stop the blades before crossing over a gravel driveway. When I got to the other side I went to re-engage the blades and all I got was smoke from the belt. Something was keeping the blades from turning. Turned out to be a pine cone wedged between the chute opening and the end of a blade. Removed it and all was fine again.

Good evening everyone.  Was a good morning church service.  Came home to remove painter's tape and clean up from yesterday.  Have to admit my back and neck are not in shape...I have been feeling it.  Getting ready to head back to church.  We have a adoption resource group that we are forming starting tonight.  Then we have the regular evening services.

Not much on the train front.  Has anyone heard from Jon out in Iowa?  Saw lots of damage out that way.  Pray he is safe.

Chief, I understand about dropping being a Sunday School teacher.  It can be quite a challenge to put lessons together each week.  There comes a time you really need to be fed for awhile,  and not from the front of a class.  Hope y'all find a good class to do so.

God bless,

Dennis

Evenin' Fellas

well I didn't get the cars washed, tires rotated, nor the lawn fertilized... I did get it mowed and I have grown tired of riding the mower through the ditch that the idiots who installed the well failed to fully fill in when they did the work for the old owners. So I spent yesterday raking the moss from the ditch, digging some compost from the compost mass in the woods, filling in the ditch, going to Home Despot for top soil, seed, and grass mat... hope to have a nice 6ft wide x 18ft long stretch of new lawn in 3 - 4 weeks. If this works I will do the last 20ft of ditch in a couple weeks. I'm afraid that if this DOES work, TheQ is going to demand that I remove the rest of the moss from the backyard and put in new grass... If it does, I will investigate sod.

Have to go... Christina is punching keys...

Good afternoon all,

Nice day here and we spent the morning with our social group from church.  We visited another parish today for mass and I heard that hymn sung that Chief says was his favorite.  I believe it was "Because He Lives".  Very moving hymn and I can see why the Chief liked it.  We followed mass with breakfast at a nearby restaurant recommended by two of our members who incidentally did not attend.  They better have a good excuse.  The food was good going down but I have been tasting it all afternoon.  Not good.  Probably too much garlic or something.

My #1 son came over and watched the Long Beach Grand Prix race on TV since he did not get it on his network.  #2 son actually went to the race and we are expecting him home shortly.

Rain is over and it is mostly blue skies and sunshine now for a while.

Ran some trains yesterday with no pile ups or running through open drawbridges.  I make a point never to run trains when the bridges are open.  Years ago I dumped one through a Lionel open drawbridge on to a concrete floor.  Fortunately the only damage was a busted coupler.  They were vintage Lionel F units NYC by the way.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

Ray

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  Had a nice day with kids and grandkids.  Had the Easter Egg hunt.  Amazing how quickly stuff can be picked if it has candy in it.  Bad day at Long Beach.  SFHR's race ended in a crash on the first lap and AJ's race ended with a poof shortly afterward.   Will Power won for Penske.  In other racing news, the Silver Arrows won for the first time in F-1 since 1955 as an all-Mercedes team won with Nico Roseberg.  There have been plenty of Merecedes powered wins in the interim but none by the factory until now.  I had a bran muffin this morning for breakfast.  TBIL and I can drive, but no barrel rolls.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Time for me to call it a day. Mowed the parents yard this morning. Later had a twenty foot sweetgum tree at the west edge of my property fall over across the ditch and into the road. Thankfully it fell away from the power and TV cables. The tree had been diseased at the base for some time and the winds today finally got it. My father and I grabbed hold of it and pulled it into the ditch to get it out of the road. No layout work today. See y'all tomorrow.

Evenin' All.

Really been under the weather for awhile, including a visit to Urgent Care, with this upper respitory infection. It just does not want to give up. The better half and daughter kinda gave me a little grief for not skipping the museum but couldn't leave em shorthanded. Need to get something done with it before wednesday or will have to reschedule cataract surgery. Grumpy

Kev,

That is exactly how I felt about my time with GI.  Unfortunately, they made the decision for me.  Happier (and safer) right now than I was for those six months though all things considered.  Learned that great money isn't everything.

Hang in there, Kev - good luck with your decision.

Today was a lazy day, just goofed off with all the wet and threatening storms.  We did get take-out from a local restaurant for dinner.  Really good beef brisket and onion rings Thumbs Up

Nice chats online with RT, Kev, SJ and Charlie Smile

Laundry done, need to pack - found my tag and tickets and reservations for the hotel Thumbs Up

TARDIS will be in Mike's capable hands for the rest of the week, starting Tuesday night.  You guys come by and pick us up, now - we'll have the banilla supply!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

HAPPY YORK WEEK!!!

58 and going to 85 today.  Took my dog MINNIE on a nice easy 2miler yesterday.  She liked it and so did I.  A little warm but nice in the woods.  On Saturday BRO and I only caught and released 2 trout.  Water is very low, we need rain.

Stay frosty,

Mornin' boys.  Sunn- Heck it's just plain ol' pretty in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Had nice afternoon at HavreDeGrace (McGregor's) and the city promenade, before taking middle Princess back to campus for her final stretch.  Over did it yesterday, between yard work and helping neighbor unload 2 tons of top soil.  Left arm woke me up.

Wifey appreciated her birthday wishes.  Thanks guys.  She wants to know if she can be a part of Chief's RR "clubby-thingy".

Good morning all,

It is rainy in SE Indiana.  Very windy drive on the way into work.  Hope to mow tonight if yard dries out.  I will be glad to drive the Tardis this week.  I had a bran muffin and some cereal on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Mornin' Fellas

Short week for me!!! Thumbs UpThumbs UpCoolBig SmileBeerYeah

Fife - belated Happy B-Day to Wifey. Hope all in Fifedom are doing well - can't wait to catch up on Friday!

Decided to not go to York on Thursday, going to get some stuff done around the house as I am going to State College, PA on Saturday for the PSU annual Spring Scrimmage Game. Meeting my folks and eldest sister for the day (I like to reminder my sister that she is older than me - little brothers can be jerks).

FiL's cat passed away on Friday so we took Christina over to his place to chear him up. I also took my Lionel Catalogs for him to look at (he doesn't buy for himself, just likes to look) well he decided it would be fun to look at them with Christina - I now need to get new copies! Smile Can't wait to get more scenery done on the layout, get the switches wired, and then be able to start running again.

It is a beautiful 74 degrees. Going up to 82 today with sunshine.

Today is a busy day. I have some chores to do and a few errands to run. I will be gone until lunchtime. Maybe a nap, later.

Indians won again. This could be habit forming.

Dining car is here from "Points West". We are having Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Monday.

65 this morning

Everything is ready for packing, we will be eastbound early tomorrow morning. I have a doctor appointment this AM, Always a long wait to see her for 5 minutes. But a neurologist is hard to find around here, the most populated area of Michigan. There are a lot of them but such a busy medical group. It takes weeks for an appointment if your not already a patient. Have a great day...S.J.

Good morning. It's 58° with rain and lots of thunder and lightning. The high will be 78° and there's a better than 70% chance of rain.

Hello from a very wet west central Louisiana! The weather picture looks very ugly as you can see from the radar image below.

Not much on the schedule today. I may work on the layout a bit but that really depends on the weather. If the power goes out that'll mean no lights or tools. Last night my father was questioning my decision to cut the grass yesterday instead of waiting to do it Friday. I told him there was at least one major storm on the way, probably more and the ground woukd likely be too wait bi then. I bet he's not questioning it now!

Well, I have to duck out of here and take cover. I hear another thunder boomer coming in. Take care of yourselves and have fun.

Aloha and Happiness and safe travels to all the Yorkies! More storms overnight. But we need the rain. Very windy ride in.There was a nice newsprint train in North Ave Yard (which we pass through every day). old Soo Line, CN, CP, GTW, Railbox, WC... Kelly said she a good birthday so I can relax for another year. Finished up with Pirates of Penzance which was a nice show.  Smile

Brent, that yard work sounds daunting.  I figure the moss in my yard is green and goes so well with the weeds.
Dennis, hope your wife is feeling better.
Doug, take care of yourself!
Kev, That is sure a dilemma. If you need the money, then the work is there - but there's no pricetag on such stress... I want to see more photos of your layout.

Good Morning CTTFans!

It's 34F and sunny here in the Mile High.  Got a bit of rain and a slight dusting on snow over the weekend; not allot but enough.  Should be shooting back up into the 70's for the next several days.

My thoughts out to all effected by the nasty weather the past several days...

Doug - Lesson learned. NEVER, and I mean, NEVER, buy a house in the winter - unless you can see the lawn. TheQ and I bought this house when we had 4 inches of snow and ice and didn't see the yard till we moved in.

The backyard is nearly 100% moss, the right side yard is such a mess the grass grows in small clumps with bare dirt between, and left side yard is nearly 100% clover, and the front there are large bare areas because I can't figure out what type of grass will grow in those areas. I know I need to get someone in from Scotts or something to identify what the underlying issues are, but I really want to do some hardscaping in both front and back first... time and $$$. Sad

Brent goto bobs train box theres a product at the end copy the name and post it in search till you get that company I believe its sold excursively by Lowe's but they have some reading but can tell you what to do when to get your lawn where you want it. I went in and looked as my yard is well red clay and crab grass lol

Afternoon all. Nice day out side so painting screws first ( will explain in the future) then painted the cat house ( like a dog house but for outside stray cats) next will start working on the layout need to clear the table a little more so can get up there to work on layout ( table is this heavy!!! table that was outside the auction house about a year ago and I brought it home and now use it as a work table its about 4' x 4' and the legs are 4"x4" at about 28" hight the table top appears to be a little better than 1" thick solid wood not pressed or anything like that. any way need to either move the table actually or put a small step ladder on it so I can get above the shelf layout to see what I'm doing. (yes the latter sounds like a Brent moveWhistling)

Well back to work out side for a minute or two lol talk to you all later
