Kev, waiting for the 500 I got to see a rerun of the Budweiser Shootout. Wow that 18 car was great. 2 near spinouts and a last second pass of Tony Stewart.

The guys will tell you I have been a great supporter of Kyle Bush. Isn't that right Fife.

 Pat,

I am not sure who I will be for this year. I am kind of giving up on my old friend Mark Martin. he needs to retire.

Kind of glad it got rained out yesterday because we had a house full and I would not have been able to watch it as I would like.

I kind of favor Kurt Bush but not too into any one driver yet. One thing for sure it won't be start it and park it , take the money Joe N.

Fell 3-4 days behind on posts, missed a lot.  Charlie, thanks for the video of Norm's layout.  Had to laugh at LAZ' comment that the setting can't be PA., no bars. Laugh  Guess that is why Bob had to help RT understand why the turbine wasn't chugging.....RT too busy looking for the watering holes.  Whistling  This all reminds me of driving up to Door County WI back in the early 1980s.  Wifey and I were loafing along in the middle of the night in the middle of pitch black nowhere in the middle of woods.  We were in search of a few days of R&R on the shores of Lake Michigan.  At about 3AM we emerged from the darkness and came up on a large parking lot jammed with cars and quite the activity, like it was the middle of the day  Yup, a bar. Smile, Wink & Grin Thumbs Up  Wifey insisted we press on. Sad

Maybe you guys heard the sad story on the news about a shooting in my neck of the woods here in Taxachusetts.  One off duty police officer from the adjoining town shot another off duty officer from my town as the latter emerged from a bank.  The wounded officer survived; and the former returned to the scene of the crime five hours later and took his own life.  Left a wife and two children.  Shootings seldom happen here, let alone one involving police officers.  The cause of this confrontation is not under investigation as the shooter is dead.  There were no "bank robbery" calls.  Personal dispute assumed.

Grandchildren came down with the crud.  Waiting for daughter and SIL to get it.  Thay had to cancel the weekly Saturday night dinner at Grammy and Grampy's.  I consoled wifey, said we can afford to skip at least one round of the crud since the next one, when you have kids, isn't more than a couple of weeks off. Smile, Wink & Grin

I am depressed. Whistling  Missed the entire Oscars show last night.  Smile, Wink & Grin  Committments totally interfered with Daytona, but the rains saved me.  PAT........bet NASCAR is going to partially take it on the chin $-wise having to run the race today.  LAZ........I agree.  Better to see a Danica wreck. Stick out tongue

I don't get it.  The local meteorologists must be on vacation.  "Significant" snow in the forcast starting Wednesday afternoon and through Thursday morning; and they are uncharacteristically treating it like just another day.  Go figure.  Same is true for the rising gasoline prices, sudden silence on the "air waves."  Presently lowest prices stand at $3.67 (87) and $3.87 (93) at Hess.  Refueled both cars this weekend: $132 for 34 gallons. Bang Head

Brutus.......glad to hear Char is charging back following Thursday's eye procedure.  Better her driving than you!!!! Wink

Chief......the U.S. of A. does not export American iron to the South, embargo. Big Smile  Kia is one of the fastest growing brands because they have a solid lineup of cars that are taking it to the "Big 3." Big 3 furiously trying to counter with the introduction of several more fuel efficient and competitive vehicles.  Glad to hear you are doing better, hope your wife is doing the same. Thumbs Up

KEV.....sorry to hear your meds are burning a hole in your stomach.  I had that problem once with antibiotics because I neglected to take the first dose with food.  Bang Head

Dennis........sounds to me like you have too many irons in the fire.  Better watch out or you will wind up flat on your back. Surprise

Chuck........glad to hear you are working those legs into soreness doing the stairs to and fro the train room. Thumbs Up

DougDG........it is clear you need to consult with a couple of us here on the Pot who are experts at loafing. Whistling

RaySP....... did your "walking for exercise" ship leave the dock? Whistling

V8..........hang in there, buddy.  That deplorable CA. weather is bound to change! Whistling

Blownout........what do you get?  Two months of nice weather a year?  Whistling

Buckeye.......your SILO ATM ate my card and didn't give it back.  Didn't give me any $ either.

DougM........sounds like KEV and my FIL missed the worst of that snowstorm while not so far North of them you got hammered.  At least the snowblower got a good workout toward the end of the season.  Did I miss how your eye exam came out?  Hope you got a thumbs up on your progress.

JimmyT and RT........I traded my last (GM) auto @ 114K miles, past the 100K recommended first ignition tuneup.  Why?  It was running fantastic all the way to the red line, and the fuel mileage was consistently at or above EPA.  Bet those plugs would have not come out easily at the 12 year mark, aluminum block and heads.  Can't figure out why the plug gap had not increased to the misfire point.  But if it ain't broke..... Thumbs Up

Jeffrey.........visiting your Mom and Dad is hazzardous to your health! Wink  Hope your foot is improving.Thumbs Up

Bob.........I don't have anyone looking out after my best (train) interests like you do!!!

Rich.........have you found fifth gear yet?  BTW.......I can't stand Velocity TV because I can't turn it off. Whistling

Later, gang.

Good Morning CTTFans!

Work is starting to slow down again so I have a bit more time to spend time here with friends.  It's 26F here today and once again they are talking about snow falling tonight.  It's already the 2nd most snowiest February in history here and if we officially get another 2.1" before the month is over we break the 1912 record.

Have a great day everyone, time to make my rounds.

Welcome  to the Pot.

Are you referring to the buildings on Norm's layout? If so maybe Charlie or SJ can answer the brand question for you. They sure are nice buildings.

Good morning all,

Dennis V8 you were right, rain this morning hard at times.

Jack, have been taking daily walks for the past few days now but rain will stop me today unless it clears up this afternoon.  Going to be very cold here tonight near freezing.  Maybe we will even get a few flakes but I doubt it.  I don't think they even know what a snowplow is in L.A.

Watched Oscars last night.  Billy Crystal is the best MC and glad they got him. D Baker's son, Chris was probably working the show last night.  I supect we will here from Don on that.

Glad Meryl Streep won, she and Christopher Plummer are the only ones I ever heard of.  The movie "Hugo" looks interesting with stuff about the French Railways.  Showed big passenger train sheds in Paris on a clip.

Feels like a good day to stay warm,

later,

Ray

Hello all,

Crisp & clear 21 @ 6 AM today. High 50"s for the trip home.

Laz, I didn't know you grew up in Altoona!!!!!!

Never did get to check in over the weekend. I'll catch up later.

Prayers for those in need

BANKS,

LOL! HAZLETON, PA.  Same as ALTOONA but different name.LOL!!!

Favorite bar, The ELBOW ROOM.  That's about all you had to drink a beer.  Its gone now but the most people to get in the place were about 8.  They even had a trough that ran down under the bar, later years was covered up and made into a foot stand.

Yes, it certainly seems that way. I wish the foot could improve but it's been beyond that point for a long time.

Well I just finished mowing the parents yard. Couldn't get the Peerless tractor to start even after having the charger on it until it stopped charging. Charger said 100%, still not enough to turn the engine./ So I used my father's little MTD Yardman. It's harder for me to use and causes me quite a bit of pain but I can use it. Got both the front and back yards cut and got the mower put away. Went and tried the Peerless again. It had been on the charger while I was mowing and now that there was nothing to do it fired right up. Maybe it's getting lazy.

Ever since the doc got me this new boot I've been having massive problems with it being way too tight. Most of that was due to the hard plastic pinched in back section from the support rods on back forcing the bones to rub together. OUCH! Bone pain is something you don't want. Well I just cut all that out and it's much more comfortable now that those high sides aren't putting all that pressure on my foot and ankle not to mention that it was tearing up the skin pretty bad. I can actually take a step now without feeling like my foot is in a vise. Maybe later I'll get a photo of the cut out section. A description would be somewhat similar to removing the back from a shoe. The sock wrap that holds my foot is attached to the support rods with Velcro so there's no danger of it coming off. I can hardly believe the difference in how it feels. Somewhat like the difference in going from an overly tight dress shoe to a comfortable running shoe. At least I won't be in agony most of the time.

Chief.....Enterprise only gives the junkers to those customers who have beat them up in the past or politicians. In your case it was the double whammy. Laugh

I have been installing goose neck lights on the layout.  It takes a long time to wire accessories and get it right. In this case I used a piece of plastic tubing and punched it through the foam leaving about three inches above the foam.  The goose neck lights wires go through the tubing and the then the light is set with the tubing holding the light in place.

Good evening everyone.  Long day coming to a close.  Had an early case that went well, but had me thinking on my feet a bit.  At least my call is over for a few weeks.  I am taking off tomorrow and will be getting well medicated tonight.  Thanks for the kind thoughts guys.

Bob, our temps are supposed to be hitting the upper 70s tomorrow, so I doubt we will see any of the white stuff!  We have been getting a fair amount of sprinkles over the last day or so.  We did have some heavy winds, took out a large limb I will have to haul to the burn pile.

Chief, they must have had your home zip code listed wrong.  They may have thought you were from Ohio and gave you the small car thinking it was all someone from Ohio could handle.  Speaking of car handling, perhaps that is why Danica keeps wrecking, she is still practicing parallel parking on the big oval track.

Well, we had photos taken for the Chinese government today.  This is the last step and tomorrow the package gets sent off to China.  From here, it is just the big wait till they "invite us" to come get the kids.  We also have to write another big check to go along with all the papers.  Lots of fun and games, but it is all worth it in the end.  My wife and I were talking about this tonight over dinner.  With our first daughter's adoption, my wife was worried about the unknowns of going to China.  Now, she is worried about coming back with two two year olds who don't speak the language and one is legally blind.  Should be an adventure!

Well, hope each of you is doing well and that you and your families are blessed.

Dennis

Evening All,

Your right Ray, Chris is up at the Academy, (theater without a name), he has been there since last Thursday, probably will come home sometime tonight.  They have to take down signage, and move all their equipment back to the Mary Pickford Museum.  The Pickford is where all the old movies are stored in vaults.

Had a somewhat frustrating day, the Click and Ship, USPS website has been down all day.  Only the second time it has happened in 4 or 5 years, but it prevented us from shipping any product today. Black Eye  I spent probably 4 hours trying to resolve a "potential" problem at my end, waste of time.

Been cold and raining here today, would have been a great day for the train room, but spent it on the computer.  Did manage to talk to the Chief today, he accused ME of sending him a Black OHIO State Police car??? Confused  Hmmm wonder who could've done that!

Been watching the race, seems the gauge and injector problems are significant.  For you knowledgeable guys out there, I find it hard to believe these cars are running on Ethanol.  Realize that all it takes is some sponsor money to become the Official Nascar (insert product here).  Or am I totally wrong.  It is interesting, here Costco, (similar to Sam's Club) offers gas about .10 to .15 less than anyone else.  But what most people dont bother looking at is the decal on the pump saying that the gas contains 10% Ethanol.  I dont think that is bad but should but dont know people pay attention to what they are buying.

Just saw Montoya plow into the jet dryer at Daytona!  Unbelievable!! One heck of a fire, utility truck driver seems ok, shaken up but taken to change clothes.  Race red flagged, track (just refinished), will probably be too damaged to continue.  Nascar off to an interesting season!!

Take care and God Bless !!

Don

Jeff - hope that modification to your boot helps - ouch!

Well, I've been fighting a sinus/cold thing for a few days and on the weekend it was okay 'cause I could sleep later.  Tried to get some sleep last night and the coughing etc was too much.  I felt so bad this morning!  Char took the kids to school and I called the boss and went back to bed for another 2 hours.  Still dragging.  She bought me some meds with guafenisen and DM for the cough, so sure hope that helps tonight.  Gotta get back to work!

Mike, you go ahead without me tonight my friend, I'm out for the count.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good Mornin' Y'all From Crystal Clear Taxachusetts,

Good news.  The sun came up again, so the day has started out right. Big Smile

I stayed up to watch the end of the Daytona 500 but fell asleep with about 23 laps to go when the yellow caution flag came out yet again. Bang Head  Not going to do that again, stay up that is.  Would have DVR'd it but I don't have a DVR. Smile, Wink & Grin

It looks like the dire weather forecast for snow later this week has changed, looks like we will be spared mostly as the main snow passes North of us in New Hampshire and Maine.  Maybe just a couple of inches.

Maximus the dog still is having skin/coat isuues.  The antimicrobial shampoo the vet suggested has cleared up all of the tiny bumps on his skin straight off, but his coat is thinner.  Wife unhappy.  Nothing has changed in his environment or with his food, so in a week or so we'll try something else.

Re that high school shooting in Chardon Ohio......I went to school about 30 minutes from there.  Last April we stayed at a hotel not 10 minutes from the school.  At times the world seems upside down with another at-risk child doing the unthinkable.

Re the shooting in my home town over the weekend where a police officer from the adjacent town shot one of ours, then later returned to the scene and took his own life........the District Attorney had initially decided to not investigate the cause.  Due to public outrage, he has now reversed himself; and the investgation continues.  It appears to be a personal matter between the two.  Sad.  Both officers had solid records. The strong support of their respective communities and friends is palpable.  Many bystanders were at risk, two jumped in, put their lives on the line, and are credited for saving the wounded officer's life until the paramedics got to the scene..... or he may not have made it.

Later, gang.

It is a cold and frosty 30 degrees. Going up to 50 today with sunshine.

Today is a busy day. I have chores to do and an errand to run. Lunch and a nap later.

Daytona 500 was a real mess. Only good part was when the drivers stopped pushing each other and decided to race. Big fire was a surprise.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Morning.  Off to the lake house.  Back tomorrow.  Sunny and real warm.  Rain and real warm and then sunny and warm and then rain again. Confused

Why do you give your "partner" a good bump?  Boys are jealous of a lady in their "good old boys" world.

Good morning, To early for the sun but frosty and 28 degrees right now in North Central Illinois

WOW what a NASCAR kick off. Primetime Monday night. Wreckfest at best and then the burning track dryer was too over the top. I did not get to bed till after midnight. Danica WHO?? And what about that FOX coverage? More commercial time than race coverage time and no corner captions even.

Dennis, Hope you get your invite from China soon. That can take awhile but you have already been there so you know. Is you flight over there non-stop? I flew it from Chicago and it is one long ride. Glad I got to do it in business class. Coach would have been terrible.

Buckeye, if Chief had used National he could of picked his own car so who does he got to blame?

Chief, you have a good day at the lake house, The Jones Boys will keep an eye on everything for you. Mischief Or maybe you could have Jeffery do a fly over and boot them in the back side with that heavy boot of his for you.  Travel

Brutus, Take care and well up, okay? Angel

Don, all of our gas here has a least 10% Ethanol in it and has for year. But then we are smack dab in the middle of the Great Midwest Corn Belt

Laz, do you have a bunch of time off to burn before you retire or can you cash it in? I only worked 3 days of my last month at work because I had to use it or loose it.  Wink

Jack, I have seen that coat issue before with Dobermans. Our old neighbors had two of them and both had it. Came and went with both dogs. Best of luck with it. Bang Head

I see another of the kids from the Chardon school shooting has died. What a shame. Angel

Well better finish up my Cheerios and get ready for another trip to the foot Dr. Hope he gets it right this time.

Later,

Kev.
