Thanks Kev, but you weren't the one here fixing it. You told me what could be causing the problem and that's where I looked but in the end I was the one doing the dirty work.Smile

Well, I got the same information from several forums as well as information that I wasn't looking for specifically. I never knew spiders liked to build webs in those tight little places. But that's what I found. Of course the engine hadn't been run for a couple of years so how could they know it would heat up like death valley in there. But again, thanks for the information.

Good night all.  Extra warm out.  Pruned the peach tree [which looks like it is about to bloom] and half of the two grape vines.  Rest requires a step ladder.  Will do tomorrow afternoon.  Ribbon cutting tomorrow AM and then a meeting.

Caldwell pivioting bi-pod for Remington 700 .22-250 Varmit Special came.  Heavy rifle to hold off hand from prone or sitting.  Now I can shoot its eye out.

Found out the other side of the story.  Seems UPS screwed up bad.  Been delivering to the other proper PO since Oct.  Put on wrong truck.  Then driver screwed up and then clerk back at terminal.  I'll get my cameras one day.

Sleep tight.

Been a few days.  Lots of pages have gone by on the Pot.

NASCAR comment - Danica Patrick is a good marketing move.  She will spice up the sport for a while.   Of course Mr. Montoya arrived on the NASCAR scene with lots of fanfare but faded quickly as the novelty wore off.  I still miss the old days in the late 60's and early 70's when what was driven mattered as much as who was driving it.  Seems that the only series that still has technical compitetion anymore is F1.

The Burro crane I got on E-bay arrived today.  Found that it had a broken boom when I unpacked it.  No biggie, as the price was good enough that a replacement part from the Train Tender is not a burden.

Prayers for healing.

All for now.

Morning all. Not feeling greatest think I might have caught the virus again from work. So took today off. hate doing it seeing I'm going to be off Friday thru Wednesday odd on vacation/normal time combined. But better if I don't go in and spread what I have just In case it is that virus.

Just taking it easy this am.

Nascar I'm not that much on following it I like to watch it every so often but as to which driver is doing what couldn't say but do know of the young lady in there and from what I hear she's not really that good or well liked so I'm just basically staying out of this oneSmile

Things are looking on the bad side for me going to York as much as I want to go as want to meet a lot of you that are going to be there but its starting to look like the finances are falling thru that where going to support that trip. May make it one of these years but even after buying my guess passes looks like its not going to happen. I want to thank all involve who help me get as far as I did with it but the cost is just coming to be too much for the trip and all. This hurts me but its the way it must be just facing reality and with 167,000 mile on the truck not sure if I want to make that far of a trip with it. And rental is out of control from this area as with all the fees they add on here ( airport, ect ect) ( thats over $100 alone to rent a car) it would be over $300 to just rent a car plus the gas so its not in the plans for this year sorry again to those who help me get this far in getting tickets and all the questions.

Well heading back to bed you all take care talk to you all later

Konbanwa,

I took today off to work on some big school projects.  I went to the base library to have some peace and quiet and I was able to accomplish a great deal of work.  I took a quick break from the work and was able to catch a quick ride on the Tardis with SJ, Brutus, and Charlie.  Kev exited as I arrived - I guess I smelled bad.  Charlie was keeping SJ and Brutus in line which is no easy feat.  The wife made breakfast for dinner tonight: frittata, ham, and corn cakes.  It was delicious.  The kids are in bed now and the wife and I are relaxing.

Jack - I don't think I'm going to get that third layout.  We don't have much storage space here and the wife already claimed that space to store her many containers of wrapping paper.

SP Ray - I'm glad you were able to start walking again.  I hope that helps the other health issues.

Chief - I thought you Rebs were hospitable. Whistling I figured you would have a welcome wagon waiting for RT. Wink

RT - I'm sorry you may not make it to York this year.  Obviously we all have to make difficult economic decisions from time to time.  You'll get there eventually even if the Chief won't come get you.

Sayonara,

Joe

Good Mornin' Y'all From Overcast But Warming Taxachusetts,

Here it is February and there is no snow.....none on the ground and none in the forecast.  And no teens or single digit temperatures.  Already 38 this morning and going up to the mid 50s today, tomorrow as well.  Like LAZ, the Spring flowers here are following the temperature averages and not the calendar.

Re NASCAR.....I understand the reasons why some of the things are the way they are.  The needs for revenue stability/growth, safety;  relative "affordability" for the teams;  a points arrangement that keeps more teams (and broader fan support) in the hunt later in the season;  and the "playoffs-like" shootout to generate more excitement toward the end of the season where “it ain't over until it's over.”  These concepts all have merit.

But there comes a point where satisfying too many "drivers" of the sport's financial health and growth (listed above) water down the very things that have generated interest in NASCAR from its beginnings: technology/innovation;  risk/speed/excitement; and car/driver/team differentiation.

What we see are moves from the top that blunt these latter three things.  What would I like to see?  More of the latter.

I would like to be shaking my head in awe, respect, and curiosity for a driver/recognizeable car brand/team, one that I detest, than to see a race or championship won on fuel economy, better team drafting, or through race attrition.  Take off the handcuffs.

Later gang.

Morning all.  Overcast and wet out, but supposed to warm up a little today.  Chief, my peach trees were doing the same.  Hope a hard freeze towards the end of winter doesn't cause havoc.  Not much to report.  I am still on call and have a bunch of stuff on my plate.  Got a "Greenville" station in from the train station in Nj.  Going to rename it and put it on my pike.  Looks nice, but will need some weathering.

Have a blessed day,

Dennis

Good morning. It's 63° and cloudy. The high will be 75° and it will be partly cloudy.

Nothing going on today other than cleaning up the layout a bit. Right now a train could make most of the trip around but would be stopped at the 180° curve on the east side due to stuff being on the track. I've gotten a couple of nibbles on my GP30's but nobody's run away with them yet.

Chuck...... Smile, Wink & Grinthat is what I thought too !!!  The snohio you directed his way plus the prospect of Dinner today may also have played into his total state of disorientation.  Another thing that worries me.  He is out there prunning peach trees and grape vines when he has major interior Wreck Tangle rennovations to do and an entire layout to relocate there.  We are going to have to help him with his sense of prioritization.

Yesterday I went out to ship a package to my neice for her wedding shower this coming Saturday.  A bona fide knucklehead somewhere down the road in front of me ignored the huge red over white "DO NOT ENTER" sign tried to enter the highway using the exit ramp (going the wrong way) and had an abrupt face-to-face with someone coming off the highway.  Could have been worse.  He could have made it onto the highway and had a high speed face-to face.  The road I was on was backed up as a result of the wreck and turned a 15 minute chore into an hour. Bang Head

Aloha Paradise.  Grey and cold. I thought NASCAR deliberately marketed the driver's personalities rather than the cars. I know the reasons for it, as Jack notes,  but I sure wished they raced something I could recognize in a showroom.  Jon, my buddies say there's still snow up in Door County, but not much. Prayers for Chiefs pneumonia, RT and for Char. Looks like I'll get the surgery on my own eyes next month if what they've already done passes muster this Fri.  Blownout, nice photos!  Like SJ, I like hearing about Joe's activities in Japan - and his missives are from the future too!

This morning I started one of those little 'can it be done' projects just to see if I could do it. I removed the body from my old Rivarossi U25C and cleared everything out of it to see if I could mount it on a 70's era Athearn SD45 frame. It took a little filing here and there on the frame and some rather radical surgery within the body shell but I got them to fit together reasonably well. I think it looks rather good with the EMD trucks.

Afternoon Y'all.

Yesterday was veg-out day after monday's Kid Club Fun Run at the museum. All went fairly well, only some small issues as usual but I still felt like I had run a marathon by the time I got home.

Got my engines back from Atlas. YesYes Run like a charm, they had to replace some electronics in both units. Beginning to think we might have some electrical issues on the club layout, I still have an MTH PS-2 unit that I believe requires a new sound board. Bang Head Oh well, will be sending it out shortly.

Gassed up the truck monday nite, $3.99/gal. If it goes up much further just mite have to look at some cut-backs on trips to the museum, unfortunately there aren't any other club members in my neck-of-the-woods for carpooling. Sigh

Got to go check the marinara sauce & sausages for dinner, let it simmer all afternoon.

Jon, my buddies say there's still snow up in Door County, but not much.

 Doug M

I was in southern Door county Monday and no snow there. There was more snow in central WI. than up north.

We got the 1946 Jeep 2A frame striped down and ready to sand blast. I had to refill my oxygen and acetylene tanks. Don't use them too much but I knew I would need to heat some things up on a frame that old. Prices have gone up. Cost $138.26 to fill both. $ 88.61 for the acetylene and $39.11  for the Oxygen. They are the big tanks.

The last time I filled the acetylene was 30 years ago and the last time I filled the oxygen was about 10 years ago. I think the oxygen cost $22.00 the last time I filled it.

Very warm here today in the high 50s.

Later,

 Kev.
