Good evening everyone.  Waiting for the gang to pick me up for dinner.  Tomorrow morning, we have a site visit.  Should be a good day.

Mike, thanks for the kind thoughts.  We consider ourselves to be the blessed ones.  I know of several other folks here who have adopted and I am sure they will agree.  We have one biological son, one adopted daughter and we will go get two more adopted kids, most likely early summer.

With any luck, I will find a local hobby shop after the visit and can buy some stuff before heading home.

God bless,

Dennis

Mmmmmmmmmm, cake.

RT - your Coke wagon is a neat find.  I'll bet it dates back to the '20's or '30's.  With due dilligance, you could probably find some wheels to replace the missing ones.

Good Wednesday Evening!

Started on page 20, so forgive me.  I'm on my laptop and that's tenuous at best...Bang Head

Sno-hizo here but not sticking on the roads....HOWEVER the roads will freeze tonight....

Jeff - good to see you're up and about.  I hear ya on the pinched wires on the doghouse....been there done that...

Work is ok, got another part time offer from somewhere else, interview tomorrow morning.  20 hrs a week, 3 am to 8 am 4 days a week.  Leaves me time to transport the Princess and still bide my time at the little e...for something fulltime and a bigger payday later on.

Parents leave again for NC Friday morn, Princess and I will be on our own until the 15th...horrors...Smile, Wink & GrinLaugh

One of my past Chiefs had an Aortic aneurysm on Monday, they got him in and repaired it.  Dennis will tell you, if it breaks, it's fatal within seconds.  He was the one chief I followed to be like.  He's too young to go.  Last month I asked him to come back to the meetings for his wisdom and "gravitas".  You don't have to agree with him, but if you listen long enough....

Got laundry done today and my NJ Devils beat up on the Rangers AGAIN!!!  Love it!

Not much else going on, I'll check back more frequently after the parents leave as their computer will be more accessible then.

Time for me to call it a night. It hasn't been a good day. I can hardly walk at all. The pain is so intense I'm gritting my teeth and for that to happen to me would have a normal person screaming in agony. I can hardly think straight. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow. Many times this runs in cycles. Most of the time I can get around and the pain is tolerable. Other times it hurts like it is now and sometimes it hurts bad if I just think about getting up.

Oh well, tomorrows another day. See y'all then.

Evening, actually morning all,

I always tell myself I'll go to bed by 11 but it never seems to work out. My buddy and I finished the kitchen and family room of the house we were working on. The client's were so happy with our work that they asked us to come back next week to re-drywall a part of a bedroom and repaint it as well. So it looks like I'll have a good work week next week.

My goal for the summer (money being the main factor) is to be able to put a down payment on a diesel pickup, but I can't decide between a Cummins or a Duramax. The Chevy (or GMC) Duramax with the Allison transmission is pretty tempting, but the sound of a straight piped 5.9 Cummins is as good as a diesel can sound. The only problem is that Dodge usually has issues with the transmissions and it will be a plow and towing truck so the transmission has to be durable. Then I will be adding some go fast bits here and there such as an exhaust, tuner, intake and injectors. I'd like to see 500whp on the performance tune and mid to high 20's MPG on economical. I drove my buddy's 2004 Sierra, Duramax equipped, today and I really like it a lot.

Well, I'm headed to bed now. My night class for tomorrow (or today, rather) is cancelled, so I'm heading up to the mountains earlier than expected!

Night guys.

Colin,

I heard you on a straight piped diesel truck.  A neighbor has a diesel F350 that is straight piped.Big Smile  Why worry about MPG?Wink  I was getting 26 MPG on the Mustang with the stock tune and an Airaid intake.  After reflashing with an 87 Performance Tune from  American Muscle's Bama Performance, I am at 19MPG right now, but I'll never go back to stock.Stick out tongue  Love the performance and sound.  Getting Ford's stock mufflers off and replacing them with MAC also helped.  Although this isn't my video, it is one of the best in terms of how they really sound:

watch?v=71ccvk6Qmk

Not much going on here.  Will catch up tomorrow.

Early morning.  Wifey's cat woke me up at 5. Angry  She was hungry.  Now you can not leave food anywhere for her as Finn can reach it.  He loves cat food.

Howdy Dood.  You said a word that reminded me.  Where is Pat [VA]?  Feeding the cows?  Don't remember seeing him post lately.

Well, time to get ready to go to Raleigh.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 40s.  A couple of good things happened yesterday, one work related and the other not as much so, but both were unexpected and nice.  Got to scrimmage with "my" soccer girls last night.  Scored a goal.  Did one play that surprised the$1***$2t coach.  I told I "had moves like Jagger" to which she gave an appropriate responseBig Smile   I played for an hour and a half.  Was tired, but did not get hurt.  Slept well.  Better day than I thought it would be.   Jeff, take care of yourself.  Your insights are most appreciated for sure.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL and I can drive again.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....

It is a clear and sunny 18 degrees. Going up to 45 today with sunshine.

Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and a little project to work on. Then, I think I will read my CTT mag and the new Trains mag. And, of course, a nap later.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Morning all,

Headed to class in a few but figured I'd get one post in before I leave for the weekend.

Jim: That video is a perfect example of what a Mustang should sound like! It sounds perfect! The only reason I'd be worried about MPG is because of the price of diesel. I'm thinking of looking into one of the large after market tanks so I'd fill up less, but that large tank plus higher MPG would be perfect!

Here's a stacked Cummins that sounds perfect and it's a 6 speed manual. I would get a 6 speed manual if there wasn't always traffic where I live:

I'll check in when I get home, later all.

Bright sun, 20 degrees and frost.

Not much going on today. I may go into town and sit in on the local liars club for awhile.

Whifey has abandoned me to spend the night at our daughter’s place to baby-sit the munchkin tonight so they can go out. She failed to tell me until I asked her last night why she was packing up.   Surprise   "Oh did I forget to tell you Mia asked me to baby-sit???"    Hmm  Yeah, but I will be fine. So it is the cat and I today.  Confused

Jeffery hope your foot gets better I feel you pain. No I really feel your pain!  Super Angry  The new meds have not kicked in yet I guess but I have hope for later in the day. Today is only day two for them.  Indifferent

Colin the guy next door has a 2005 Dodge 3500 with the Cummins and a 6 speed and works it like a pack mule. He has had many issues with it but none with the engine. The other guy in our lane has a 2007 Ford F350 with straight pipes and the pipes screwed up the variable pitch turbo in it because it needs some back pressure. That cost him $1,000 +.  He had 4 injectors that cost him $4,000 by the time they got it figured out. He also had a issue with a oil cooler in the engine and if you need to do any kind of major engine work they take the CAB off of the truck so they can get to the engine. What is with that???

You all have a good day.

Good Morning Modelers!

It's a bit warmer today (24F) but cold air is heading back in this weekend with another chance of some white stuff.  The ice ruts on the side streets can be allot of fun even with a 4x4 and it looks like they might still be with us for awhile.  Still working on uploading my model RR inventory roster shots to my new modeling blog.

Right now it's all about "I Love NY" DHNY Boxcars...

Hey guys, a quick sip before I head off to my job...

Interview went well, will know tomorrow.  Up to 20 hrs and very close by.  We shall see...

Colin (and Probe) - Check out this months Motor Trend...Horsepower wars...Dodge Cummins right there at 700 hp....I think 800 lb/ft of torque.  Never heard of the Cummins having driveline issues...Viper at 660 HP, and GM thought that it would make a splash with the 580 HP Camaro....LaughlmaoLaugh...The Mustang weights in at 600!!!  I'd rethink any GM purchase...I'm more Mopar, but that 600 HP horse sounds tempting!

Jeff - take 'er easy!

Not much else, I'll be at meeting tonight, so if I get back it will be late!

Rich

V8Vega

I went shooting yesterday afternoon and could have worn shorts.

I bought another BB- pellet gun yesterday morning, that makes 9 alltogether. A Remington Air Master multi pump, 755 ft. per sec. BB repeater, pellet single shot. I know I will only shoot it once in awhile but I enjoy buying them

V8 Dennis,

Speaking of shooting, I live in a very wooded area and the property to the south of us sold about 4 month ago, 22+ acres. I have been hearing a lot of shooting going on over there and don’t pay much attention to it, but today I saw a nice bullet hole in the tree right in front of our house. So I had to hobble over there on my lame foot and I left this note for the new guy on his target back board.

Hope it works.  Maybe he is a rebel. Smile, Wink & Grin

SOME PEOPLE!  Hmm

Kev.

Hi neighbor,

My name is Kevin Myers I live just to the north of your property.

Please do not shoot to the north. I have found a bullet hole in a tree right in front of our house that looks to be from a high velocity shotgun shell, rifle or pistol and it lines up with your deer blind that Studeman built. Hard to believe it made it to my place but sure looks like to me. I am not sure you knew we were here but wanted you to know. If you would like to have a look, please do come over and introduce yourself. I would be glad to meet you.

Thanks again,

Kevin Myers

Believe me, your foot problems are very minor compared to mine. I wouldn't wish mine on anybody. If you want details, let me know.

Hello everyone. I won't say it's a good day but so far it's less painful than yesterday was. The pain in my foot is down to an ache instead of feeling like there's a truck parked on it. I might actually get something done on the layout today.

Now, a question for the motor heads out there. I'm having a problem with my van. When I put it in reverse the starter relay starts chattering and sometimes the starter kicks in and the starter just keep cranking and cranking until I put the tranny back in park or turn the key off. I'm thinking this is a problem with the neutral starter switch, the same thing that turns your vehicles backup lights on and off and keeps you from starting it in forward and reverse. I think it's starting to fail and is triggering the starter relay when the backup lights go on. What do you think?

Good morning all,

Kevin, you were a lot more diplomatic about that bullet hole in your tree near the house than most folks would be.

Jeffrey, sorry you're having so much pain.  Prayer to get over it soon.

Has anyone ever changed the electric cord on a Lionel ZW transformer?  A friend of mine asked me if I could replace his.  I have never done one of these so don't know what you might run into.  I sent my MTH Z4000 back to MTH once but that is electronic which I know nothing about.

Went out to social gathering last night with friends from church.  Host and hostess served homemade chile and hors derves. also had homemade cornbread with the chile.  It was all good but I was a little apprehensive because I was having GI problems earlier in the day however it all went well.

Re aortic aneurysm, nothing to play with.  Deadly serious.  I was fortunate to have mine discovered by a doctor before it broke serveral years ago and had it surgically corrected.

Need to check on friend with heart surgery today.  Should be home from the hospital by now.

Good day all,

Ray

Jeffery,

I am not going to argue with you on who feels the worst. No point counter point from me. I will just keep it to myself.  I do know alittle about what pain is after having a crushed left arm since 1996, three botched surgeries, the 14"+ scar from them, chronic ulner nerve pain and 7 years on 7.5 Vicodins 6 times a day. I finally said to heck with it and quit the meds and did the mental pain block. It can be done.

As for the van, the neutral safety switch sounds like a good place to start. I have never seen one do that. Is the key in the column or dash? If it is in the column and the shift linkage is sloppy it may have a short in there somewhere past the key switch leading down the inside of the column.

Good luck, let me know what you find.
